I know this have been asked like 1.000 times, and i've searched for answers to my question without any sucsess.
My question is:
What exactly do i lose if i use my computer to update my rooted 2.3.3 to 2.3.4?
Model: R800i
Kernel-version: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected]#1
Version: 3.0.1.A.0.145
Do I lose any apps or games?
Do I lose root?
Can you root 2.3.4?
Is there any major game/apps that doesn't work with 2.3.4?
Thanks!

Right,
1. Nope - not if you dont erase the user data when updating in flashtool, you wont lose it in SEUS
2. Maybe
3. Yes, with the latest zergrush method any version of android 2.3 can be updated
4. Nope it's all the same now (PSXperia now works in 2.3.4)
I wouldnt be worried about all of that though i would be bothered (and still am) about the quietness of xloud (speaker loudness) when updating from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 you wont notice because your on stock rom
So i don't have to worry about bricking my phone or anything like that?
Bricking usually occurs when you unlock you're bootloader and try too over the air update or install a custom ROM and mess up halfway through. Using the update service from Sony or flashtool won't do irreparable damage to the phone. If it does I'll help ya

I just updated my arc via PC companion software to .62 firmware.
I rooted it earlier by super one click method by DooMLorD from here.
Now after the update I don't have root access and I can't get it back by the same way or by GingerBreak and I can still see superuser icon.
The system apps are reaaally using too much memory.
Any idea how i can solve that please?!

using flash tool and a .42 FTF downgrade from .62 to .42 un check wipe cash and wipe user data and you save everything.
root using flashtool
do an OTA update to .62 and you remain root.
then and only then can you delete system apps you dont want. if you change the system aps befor the OTA update it will fail to update.

What needs to be done in the following ORDER
1 - Get yourself a firmware (whichever one you want) .42
1.1 - Connect your phone to your computer
2 - Using the application called Flashtool which be can be found on the forum (multiple threads) Flash the the rom. You will loose all your contacts, sms etc...
2.2 - Wait for the tool to tell you that it's done flashing
2.3 - Using ZergRush or Flashtool ROOT your phone.
3 - Start your phone and disconnect it from the PC
4 - Press the menu button and go to SETTINGS - ABOUT PHONE - SOFTWARE UPDATE
5 - This will verify and push the OTA for .62 to your phone.
That's pretty much it in the simplest way possible.

it`s not so easy
I did it exactly step by step,
phone shows information about upgrade but what i need is PC Companion to do that. This information is in notification about new firmware.
ok I did it but first I had flashed LT15i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Generic Global HK because only after that I could upgrade withouth PC Companion.
thx for advice.
Yeah that was point 1. Which was to get yourself a firmware version .42... then yeah you can update via OTA...
I can't update .42 OTA it is possible only when i flash .58 first...

Question: How can I update via OTA? Is there a site like wotanserver or something? Or is OTA an app I can download somewhere?
I updated my WT19 with PC Companion, it has .62 firmware now, but I need root to delete system apps and clear space on internal memory.
Anyway I always update via wotanserver, because I can't find the .ftf I need to flash it via flashtool. And now I'm having problems with wotanserver, so where can I find those firmware files (ftf) ?? (for my model)
i have tried to root my phone but don't want

alternate way
there may be different methods you can use
1st. flash the .ftf(ics firmware) file using the flashtool and also the corresponding kernel
search the forum for arc and you will certainly find the firmware file and the procedure....JUST SEARCH FOR IT.:good:
2nd. ANTOTHER method is to unlock the bootloader and feel free to try any rom of your choice(although this voids the warranty :silly
there has been a variety of roms(custom and stock) available for THE ARC.
rest is your choice

It was like that with my old arc, with my wife's xperia S, and its like that with my Ion too.

Thank you very much for your help
So i have to wait till Bin4ry will update his root tool so that i can use it with my Sony Xperia S locked bootlader 6.1.A.2.55
if som1 would new if this tool comes out and can root 6.1.A.2.55 i would be very nice if he/she could tell me that
AFAIK the only method to root .55 was just bin4ry method done before updating..
so, you won't loose your root (as far as you don't wipe data/system)

If you're debranding the device then it's not tied to a carrier, but you should still be able to update when it's released for the ROM you flash through PC Companion, although Many People just flash an ftf from here when updating.

You could try and make an ftf to reflash if no one has uploaded one but that won't back up your Phone as it is now, you'll need root and CWM for that. Flash an unbranded ftf and never look back.
