[Q] Moving phone to cricket....

I am going to put my evo on cricket, my plan is to take my phone to the cricket store and have it flashed. Does that work, or do I need to do some things first?

How long was the last outage?

I got my phone just a few days ago, so didn't experience the initial outages. Are there any insiders that know what's happening? I am getting 3G here and there and that's when I'm lucky

the last outage was last month and here in San Diego it lasted like 3 - 4 hours. today's outage is much more extreme. it's been down since i got up this morning at 6am & it's still down now at 9pm. no 4g, no 3g, nothing... i can only make calls. im currently at a barnes & noble using their wifi(blah!)...
the worst though was back when the Droid Charge was supposed to come out. 4g was out for a whole week & only got "1X". they even delayed the Charge' release because of it. luckily they refunded the $29/data that month for me. this evening when i called to complain they just offered to give me a day's data credit(and no eta as to when data will be back).

This was the longest one yet. I just got LTE back just now in Orange County CA.

LTE is a new technology... Expect further outages... It'll straighten out over time, probably well before your contract runs out (unless you bought it off-contract).

Nothing in NYC. closest ones are in Freehold, NJ and Bridgewater NJ

i called one of hte ms ofices and i was told that stores in nj havent opened yet.. i finally get a number to a store in minnesota. but no one answers the phone. ms doesnt know retail AT ALL.. no wonder apple is kicking them in the ass hard.. good riddance

Let's get a list of known good and bad (in your experience) Sprint stores with addresses for other people need to get their phones serviced. Explain why you were there and why you do or don't recommend them.
I don't have any cuz I haven't had to return any phones or get anything serviced. I will have some input tonight though when I go to take my phone in because of jacked up /data partition.

This place has some great people, that will really work with you to get you that phone you want/need. Just don't piss them off or annoy them.

We only have one corporate store left in town (actually in all of North Alabama I think) and they do a pretty good job of being informed, courteous and helpful.

My favorite location when it was still a corporate store is now a third party dealer. In all honesty I've only been in once to drop off a couple of devices for recycling so I haven't dealt with them or seen anyone I used to deal with in days past. An official sprint store I love would be the one off of carmel valley road next to oggis in san diego I will update with address later. I have never ever had any problems with them. They are freaken awesome. I go out of my way to visit that store when I need anything like a refurb or whatever.

The ones I've visited in Tampa are okay (Northdale & South Tampa). They're not pushy sales wise and seem eager enough to help when you have an issue. When the Evo was launched the line outside was treated to snacks and water for the wait, and it was handled very professionally... The Epic Touch launch I was the only one in the store ....

I always stop by a Sprint store on my way to work and school when I use to go... It was and still is a very good Sprint store. They might not be able to give you a device on the spot if your current one has issues but they will order you a replacement.. I've taken many phones with a custom recovery install and S-OFF.. no issue with that!

Awesome. I hope they retained some of the people who worked there for Sprint. Hands down some of the best customer service/sales people I've ever encountered.
I'll have to pay them a visit and see who might still be there.

I have found that the service centers are usually more helpful than just a dumb old store, usually. I've had several problems dealt with efficiently at the service center in Kennesaw GA, on the north side of Atlanta.
And stay away from radio shack or the generic mobile store with a sprint sign in the window.

This place sucks balls! The guy John is a prick! The guy reps are so unfriendly and have a "I'm right you're wrong" attitude! unfortunately its the closest store.

good customer service -- they took care of me pretty quickly. took about an hour for them to figure out the emmc is fried, but they quickly ordered me a refurbished phone. should have it within the next 3-5 business days.

There are three full service Sprint stores here in Tulsa, but the only one worth going to is at:

The customer service is great and the staff seems to be very knowledgeable. The one time I had to use TEP, they bent over backwards to help me. BTW, do NOT go to the E. 71st St. store in Tulsa - very rude employees.

The repair store in Rocky Hill, CT is great. Guy knew I was rooted and just asked me to Odin back to stock before coming in so he could rule out external software. The store in Newington, CT on the Berlin Tpke is also pretty good for size, selection and knowledge. The South Windsor store by Panera and the high end aquarium store is also pretty good. For purchasing new contract phones I like to use the Best Buy Mobile at the Buckland Mall.

Finally became a member after so much reading day after day for updates for months n months! lol... I finally got fed up with hiding in the corner to make a call...so i called sprint and they offered me a early upgrade to an LTE device. Ive only had this phone for about 4 months so its very tempting. Its funny because its not only sprint.. its att,tmobile,metro,verizon... zero signal in my house..... but walk next door house or in the middle of the street i get full bars ...4g 3g all kinds of gs.t What does everyone think go or no go? I love this phone I can do everything that I can think of without of a need of almost any particular electronic device except get signal.. lol

Well if you are going to try another Sprint device, remember you only have 14 days to return it. I can't say that any has vastly superior signal strength but hey, you won't know if you don't try I guess. I thought my ET4G was flawless at home in California but when I get into NYC, the low signal performance is actually irritating the hell out of me. I have been using my NS4G in the city lately

You might be able to get an airave for free from sprint. It's like your own mini cell tower for your home.

@JohnCorleone Well I kinda have to since its either that or pay the cancellation fee. First two weeks it was fine few times it roamed.. but I thought it was because of the weather since it was pretty bad during that time. Sprint does have the best price though for now... kinda scared of the whole new TEP prices people were talking about. Is there a huge difference between phones for you as far as signal for you in nyc?
@Sn1per 117 They told me about that but first 3 reps wanted to charge me for the device and the service and said there was no other choice but to pay cancellation or just wait for "upgrades" since my phone was multiband it was capable of the new lte... that's when i hanged up and called again lol. Finally i spoke to someone in spanish and he told me he would approve me for an early upgrade just to go to a corporate store since it could only be done in store It's a upgrade program they're trying out in select cities and I would only have to pay $55

New York is insane! I can walk 10 feet and have 10Mbps 4g then walk another 10 feet and have 1 bar of 3g. In California I always have 8-10Mbps 4g. My phone gets these strange menu pop ups and soft key freezes when I go from 1 bar to none at work. It comes right back but still...it shouldn't happen ever

haha ! exactly what I'm experiencing right now! well for the past 4 months. So aggravating knowing that there's such great power just feet away..Outside..In the middle of the yard... I topped it out at 12 in 4g and 2.9 in 3g so i know the phone knows whats it doing when it gets signal.

true, mine just seemed to be a broken mini cell tower that caused more issues than b4 i recieved it. but ive read some people have had great results with them. either way a good suggestion.

New York cell signal blows so hard lol. I get the same as the OP. In my room I get 1 MAYBE 2 bars...I step right out of my door and into the living room....full signal >_> wtf?
Also the city sucks really bad lol. I've never really blamed sprint for it. Must be hard as fk to get signal through these monstrous buildings to begin with lol.

Yeah but one thing kills me...actually 2. When I am in a lower level of Port Authority EVERYBODY seems to be using their phone and I have trouble keeping signal. And does every woman in New York have an iPhone or what? I see at least 20 iPhones to every Android...and at least 2 women a day drop their iPhone. Its a given

He was offered the Buyout option. He just bought out the remainder of his contract for early upgrade. This is fairly common, we do it in store daily. Contract end date is the same, just upgrade was pushed forward.

LOL, yea its pretty bad out there but its a bandwagon thing since half the women I know that have the IPhone have no idea why they have it other than one of their other friends have it.
Must admit where my house is in Long Island the main streets is lit up with wifi and if you have a cable account you can connect for free but the 4g speeds are pretty consistent throughout even in basements I picked up 10meg download. So those damn old/tall buildings are definitely messing your great signal up
Edit: my bad OP keep slapping them up till they give you an AirRave I got one and it works great. Also only upgrade if you think it will help your signal and LTE for Sprint is not officially out so not sure if one of those new phones would really help you

Yeah, I can't wait to get back to my California signal strength but New York is a great place as well. I may extend my stay a month or two. I bet summer in the city can be some fun! I want to catch some basketball at the Rucker and meet some ladies.. there are a grip of them in New York! Lol

I actually called 4times and they said its a limited offer in select lte cities dfw happens to be one of them. Its so tempting but I know it won't change much in my voice service.
And sorry everyone I worked a double shift.
N yes I probably do nobody likes my house cause they can't continue there addiction to facebook since there's no signal lol.
My friend actually brought me his extra air rave that they sent to him to use it works but now it sends the txt about a million+1 times. :/
