I hope we get it too. Or at least a dev ports it as I'm sure it will run awesome since we have the same phone basically.

a port of that 3.0 vs a port of a desire s/hd rom wont be much different at all...theyre still gsm devices
it would be an easier port for sure as more bins and libs are compatible and theres less trial and error with logcat getting it to boot and/or work properly
but the end user would most likely not notice a difference in performance or features
Yea, not to rain on anyone's parade, but most of the sense 3.0/3.5 ports are pretty complete and bug free. The only thing that would make a difference would be an official sense 3.5 for the inc2, since that would give us the gsm compatibility that 3.5 lacks. 3.0 has gsm, as far as I am aware. And both cappy and newt have roms that are leagues better than the stock inc2 rom.

inc2 will never get sense 3.5, id bet anything on that
i do think it will have a 2.3.5 mr with sense 3 like the gsm equivalents are getting now
and willl stay on 3.0 through ics
I really think HTC screwed the pooch with Sense 3.5..
I think Sense 3.0 is amazing, and really hope that we in the sometime near future see a Sense 3.0 OTA. That would bring soo many awesome opportunities. Just Imagine if Ihtfp69 built us a ROM based off the officially Sense 3.0 OTA ROM, or Mr. nitsuj17 he is an amazing DEV as well man, many props and thanks to you and your crew!!!
Your Desire port is off the chain man and look very forward to whatever you bring next!

That would be awesome!! Both are great devs and with their current Roms I don't even feel like changing phones anytime soon!! Gnex would be fine to have but come June something else will be out that's better, so I think i'll sticking with my Inc2 for a good while!

3.5 is a lot more resource intensive than 3.0, although they are much closer to each other than 3.0 is to 2.xx

I think he also said that cuz its not much new... I mean they changed the rosie a bit and some real minor stuff. It shouldn't have been made into a big deal instead just an updated 3.0. Although, when we start seeing sense 4.0, hopefully we'll see something completely new like 3.0 was from 2.1.

just fwiw i did a quick hacky port of inc s sense 3 just to see if anything was changed/different than desire hd or desire s ports
and its virtually identical, you wouldnt really notice any difference and performance seemed the same for the hour i used it
I can't imagine the Sense 3.0 ROMS would run much better with this port.

i have a Question , and i don't ever need to use CDMA ( not existing where i am )
i managed to install Incredible S Rom ( Sense 3.5 )on My VIVOW and it worked perfect ( GSM and 3G working ) , i just only replaced Boot.img with a compatible VIVOW . later on kernel to fix wifi bug .
When i tried to install updated versions of the same Rom , i had to replace libhtc_ril in addition to boot.img in order to boot the Rom , and it booted every thing working except ( NO GSM or mobile data ) .
i wanted to ask which files i need to replace to get GSM and data working ? . ( in phone information menu it is set WCDMA preferred and can't be changed to other choices )
Can Incredible S Radio be Installed on Incredible 2 ?
thanks

sense 3.0 update
The sense 3.0 update is weighing in at 228mb file size for the incredible s.
That's kinda a nail biter for an ota update...
I would like to see this on Verizon hTC Droid incredible 2.
What do y'all think?
Will hTC prepare the update for one phone line on Verizon?
Will Verizon push out this size of an update?

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a new custom rom for my phone, just rooted it... all gravy but fancy trying something of the things those genius chefs have been cooking!
I was looking for a Gingerbread rom with the HTC Sense style theme, but can't seem to find one; does one exist? I've had a look through the index and the developmnent forums but can only find Froyo Sense Roms. It's not a huge issue but it would be nice as I quite like the Sense layout and apps n' stuff
Also, any recommendations on roms? I think I'm going to try some of the gingerbead ones regardless of the htc sense(I like the sound of some of the enhancements) but wonder if anyones using something they can whole heartedly recommend, froyo or no?
Yeah, I would be interested in this too...

Indeed. Try different roms and see which you like. Also, if you want different "styles" of sense, install a HD rom but it's still 2.2. Or you can just wait for 2.3 to be released for Desire which shouldn't be that long really.

Ya I've gone for a 2.2 for now, I imagine I'll stick with it for a while until I feel a real 'need' to upgrade to 2.3.

To be honest, I much prefer Gingerbread ROMs and have found Ultimate Droid 3.0.0 to be the best so far.
On top of this I use Launcherpro, which contains awesome Sense style widgets for calendar/facebook/bookmarks/contacts etc.
See it here:

I also use Fancy Widgets with the H7 clock theme as this gives me the Sense style clock on my homescreen as well.

I've actually seen a photo or 2.3.1 Sense 'running' as it were so it exists but it's on one of the new HTC handsets. Whether we'll see it on the Desire is another matter
was it the new htc desire 2 ? ? cant wait for desire 2 to be released.. im sure it packages gingerbread with sense and full support for honeycomb !
Honeycomb is for tablets only. There will prob be something similar for smartphones later on, maybe 2.4 or 3.0, who knows. But no, Honeycomb is non existant for phones for now.
HTC desire S
with sense and android 2.3.2 and now??
search on the youtube this sentence:
"HTC Desire S Videopreview da Telefonino.net @ MWC 2011"
I have faith it will come out until mid-year has the rom gingerbread-Sense

2.4 has already been released, it's an update release from Google of 2.3 full of BugFixes. The Desire S will be released running 2.4, as will the HTC Desire when the new sense comes to it. Check out the thread I posted covering HTC's confirmation plans to update the HTC Desire range to 2.4. This includes all models of the HTC Desire released at the moment.
Also Honeycomb will be released for phones, just only phones that have Dual Core Processors, so thats every single HTC device at the moment out of that league. Hope I helped guys
Sort of it...
Okay, Here's what you can get if you son't mind it not being an ACTUAL Sense UI
Sense UI Themes for Launcher Pro
It's not perfect, but a quick google of Sense UI Launcher Pro theme brings up quite a bit...

Are you serious? GB is significantly different from froyo. Better power and application management, NFC support, VoiP/SIP calls, SIP audio for video calling, better download management for HTTP downloads, new sensor support(gyroscope), audio, graphic and touch screen input enhancements for game developers, support for webm/VP8 video playback, aac audio encoding and bumped api's to 10 with more support for native code.
Not to mention the new skin for AOSP and the new multi touch KB. I'm sure I left out a bunch of stuff but that's what I can recall from reading. So that being said you should take a moment and actually do a bit of research before posting a response like that.
Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk
Okay true .. but I'm not freaking out like "Oh I WANT Gingerbread already" there is no point in begging for it .. its more like you will get when you get it.
But then again, it shouldn't be the case that we're still stuck on Froyo when Gingerbread has been out for so long already and Google has already announced Ice Cream Sandwich.

Again you guys need to research or have some actual information on the subject posted. GB is only running on a handful of devices (officially) and ICS will not be out for a while. So GB will come I'm sure, in its own time. So the majority of handset owners are "stuck" on froyo. Keep in mind any device with a custom UI is going to take longer than a vanilla device.

I've read in many articles that, HTC said that gingerbread would come in Q2, Since the end of Q2 is in june, i don't see why we wouldn't get in then, especially if the first incredible is supposed to get it in summer. Motorola isn't going to let the Droid X get gingerbread before the X2, i don't imagine HTC will let the first incredible get it before the inc2
I would agree too, I think they are waiting to release the bug fixes like backwards maps in the GB release. Costs them too much to keep pushing out patches.
i have a sample inc2 device with GB 2.3.3 sense 2.1 (s/w version 2.09.605.1 baseband 20.27w.30.0811u_1.07.00.0507_3) loaded. This is not a mkt sale device but since I got it with that loaded on it i know GB will be coming to all when verizon finishes whatever tests it does. Also since it is so stable, i doubt that everybody getting GB is too far away.

Do we have any inkling as to what GB will look like and what flavor of Sense 2.1 we will get? The leak of GB for the Thunderbolt had Sense 2.1 with the Sense 3 notification pull down, but not the new lockscreen. The HTC Flyer is running GB and Sense 2.1, but the lockscreen is the Sense 3 style. I would love to get the lockscreen and the quick settings in the pull down.

I am all for this, but it would be nice to see it come as part of the update from VZW/HTC. If HTC already has it for Sense 2.1, lets see it on our devices when they get updated.
I've read that only dual core devices will get the full on sense 3.0 experience(officially). Maybe jcase or one of the devs in the know could verify this?

I can hope...just make root easier now, haha.
I just bought the SGS2, and my girlfriend is getting my old HTC Desire.
She tried it for a week, with Oxygen ROM and while generally happy with it, she was underwhelmed and annoyed with a few of the more obvious warts of stock android 2.3. The crappy dialer and the crappy keyboard, to name a few.
I then installed a lot of GO apps on it, GO Launcher EX, GO Dialer, GO Widget etc.
While these are in some respects better, they have other issues.
I am now considering if a ROM with Sense would be a good compromise for her. I will not give her the latest stock 2.2 ROM from HTC, I want her to have 2.3. So it would have to be a 2.3 ROM with Sense on it. And I don't even know which version of Sense. I have only really worked with the one in the stock 2.2 ROM from HTC. I think it is Sense 1.9?
So, can you guys recommend a 2.3 ROM with Sense or a 2.3 ROM and some good core apps (dialer, keyboard, sms/texting etc.) that is girlfriend-friendly?
Thanks in advance
I'd recommend one with the Sense 3.0.

why you pointing to external link when we have a development section full of nice a great ROMs?
I would recommend a ROM with Sense 2.1/3.0 (Hybrid) because the Sense 3.5/3.0 ROMs are a bit too much sometimes for the Desire as I read and heard (in case of lags and so).
But Runnymede is recommended very often.
So I would go with Revolution or InsertCoin which I self am using since a few months and i'm quite happy with it.

And I really dont get the point why you always have to bash the other Roms except Supernova's. Supernovas Rom sure is great but there also other good ROMs (even with Sense 3.0/3.5). They are maybe that not stable and so on but the Users also have different preferences. For some eye-candy is the most important feature, for other it is stability and speed.

Not that I don't bash just supernova, I don't bash either of the Sense 1.9 roms, aosp roms, or even roms which are broken and are advertised as such.
And I have no beef with roms or their developers, but with idiots that turn every rom recommendation thread into this. OK, you're free to do whatever you want, but you can't come and write "Sense 3.5/ICS , this, this, this and this doesn't work, but it's perfect".
As far as I'm concerned, the scale goes like this: unusable - bad - average - good - perfect. I hope meaning of perfect is self explanatory?
If the op states that he is giving away his phone, Sense 3.5 roms don't have nothing to look for here. Giving away phone with some of it's features severely limited is insanity.
It is you Sense 3.5 users who mixed up priorities here, not I. If the thread was titled "most eyecandy" rom I'd be silent.

I wasn't giving the OP a recommendation for a Sense 3.0/3.5-ROM, I was recommending him a Hybrid (2.1/3.0). And this I can do with pure conscience because the ROM I'm using right now (InsertCoin) is way faster than the Stock-ROM that was originally on the Desire and i havent experienced anything thats not working yet (no reboots, no failures, ... everything is working fine).
Yeah, maybe the Sense-ROMs you are not bashing are a bit faster than the ISC and Revolution Hybrids but there you have an uglier ui, so you have to balance.
Maybe you should testing a Hybrid for yourself because now you are just assuming things.

I want her to have 2.3, and there is no good official 2.3 ROM from HTC. So I guess I might as well try a girlfriend-friendly 2.3 ROM, preferably one that "just works" and that I don't have to help her with a million times. If you can recommend such a ROM, it would be great.
I agree with you that eye candy is not the most important thing here. Usability and stability is. Unfortunately, stock android have usability issues with simple things such as the dialer and the keyboard. And Android 2.3 is a must.
I will never buy her an iPhone, so that's not an option.
What do you recommend?

That is a very bold statement to make when talking with someone with 217,71 times your post count here
I did that, when they were popular, IC was on my phone for a whole 15 minutes before restoring nandroid backup of my AuraXTremeGinger I used at that time. You can feel when it was placed in past. To be honest, I didn't get to the post where you recommended anything. It was enough for one which spends as much time as me reading these threads to read a couple of the first ones and catch the drift of where is it going. After that I just scroll real fast through the thread. No Stock rom recommendations? Check. Commence bashing.

Who told you that? You have the one in my sig, baadnwz made his rooted stock GB rom and teppic74 has his.
Now I only looked at its specs, I don't know about all its specs, but if this indicates anything we could possibly run the One V ruu right?
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_One_V
I even saw development running on DInc S, which I know is upgraded more in specs. But is this not worth looking into?

I agree with u
It would be awesome to have that Rom

Well I honestly feel this old dog has one more trick.
I even seen the DInc2 has development off the One V.
I think we could get it working with a good dev with the right patience. I swear if I had a computer and had knowledge on roms and such I would give it a go.
If anything I have the feeling it will be like a 3.5 Rom, limited by ram and speed. Hope someone tries to dwell into this.

Its a difficult project. it involves getting the ROM work which may involve fixing up the kernel which in turn needs the ROM built correctly to be tested.

There is a thread about this in the Dev section. It's probably fallen to the second or third page by now.
The biggest problem with Sense 3.5 and up stuff is that it's so big. Yes, Sense 4 is trimmed down from 3.x, but I would imagine it's still considerably bigger than what we have. The problem with any newer versions of Sense was handled by moving a lot of system stuff to /data, but that'll only take you so far.
Also, as others have pointed out, no kernel source. That's another big problem.
I'm not saying that it *can't* happen, all I'm saying is, at some point, you're just going to have to upgrade to get the new software.

Obviously we will eventually have to get a new device, but why not try to fit something that will probably work? Specs are identical, now ill admit. You have me on the memory, but it can't be that big if its running the same specs as us. Probably 250-400mb max. I just see a problem with things working if we get a kernel to boot.

According to HTC's website, the One V has 4 GB of internal storage. On the Rezound, over 1 GB of the internal storage is just Android. Sense 4.0 would have to be way, way trimmed down to fit on what the Incredible has.
Give me awhile and I'll download the RUU and see if I can figure out how much space it's going to take up. That'll give everyone a clear idea on if it's worth pursuing or just impossible.

There's different One's Series.
One V can fit, its S & X that we would not be able to run.
Incredible Internal is I believe 6-8Gb's.
One V is actually running on - Desire, Droid Incredible 2 & S and I believe Thunderbolt is getting a Rom working, probably have to look for that.
Edit: the ruu port Tribulatti has made flashes to our phone but does not boot - we need a working kernel and probably a few other things.

If it's on the Desire, it should work. But with our luck with HTC releasing kernel source, don't hold your breath.

Yeah, the Desire HD is a little different. The DHD has the Adreno 205, I believe, plus a newer Snapdragon, on top of more memory. It's more like the Incredible 2. In contrast, the original Desire has very similar specs to the Incredible.
This is on the whole space concern but I saw in the development thread that it could possibly run on 220 Mbs instead of most 3.5 ROMs running on like 320. Just a fun fact.

With a Sense 4a/ICS Sense ROM, this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598865), my Limited Edition Spiderman Beats By Dre headphones, some theming of my own, and a white case, I am going to transform my DINC2 into what I call an "HTC One Incredible S"
ok?
Beats already comes with Sense 4 by default. You don't need to flash anything else unless you want to mess it up.

I thought I read on here somewhere that when we get ics we will still never get true sense 4 only 3.6? I know very little about the sense roms so I am just trying to educate myself a little.
Jayydude glad you got you a dinc 2. I ended up sending the guy that gave you his blackberry for free the batteries and charger I had offered to you for your x2 when you had problems. Him and his son was happy. You should love this phone over the x2. I am running the M5.01 ext4 and really like it. Also flashed the 3.0 patch to get the sick lockscreen. Some sick widgets and awesome battery life.

Just to clarify, last season's HTC devices get an ICS update in the form of Android 4.0.3/Sense 3.6. This applies to the Sensation (all models), Vivid, Amaze, Incredible 2/S and even the Desire S/HD, along with a couple of others.
You won't see Sense 4.0 on any of these 'older' devices officially. It was the One series' drawcard, and it won't be officially ported backwards. That's what XDA is for
That said, I'm really impressed with performance increases on the Sensation, Vivid and Amaze from the ICS update. Usability of Sense 3.6, especially the Launcher, is greatly improved. You should get a good little boost out of the official ICS when it arrives.

fwiw, it looks like msm7x30 devices (ds/dhd/inc s/inc2/is4g, etc) will get 4.0.4/sense 3.6 as thats what the desire s leak was
and typically the updates are all very similar to each other

Well I learned something today Justin, thanks mate!
Why do you think the older devices are getting the 0.0.1 difference? RAM?
EDIT: MSM8x55?

most likely they started working on the older devices later, and by then 4.0.4 was in aosp id guess
given that htc updates on the same os version so frequently, id imagine the evo 3d/sensation/rezound will move up as well
some of the msm7x30 devices on gb at points had 2.3.3, 2.3.4, 2.3.5, and 2.3.6 (dont think any of that chipset ever saw 2.3.7)

I just got it and hr ago, sadly they just sent the extended battery ( free ) today so I can't use it until tomorrow. But that's true no Sense 4.0 just 3.6 :/ But hey any add on to ICS is amazing to me. I love sense But I'm going to flash sense 3.6 + ics rom, beats audio + xloud patch, capacitive button fix, touch recovery, and etc. I wish I could get the on - screen htc version of the ics softkeys and disable the capacitive buttons + lights that would really be cool ^_^
