Google voice on wp7?

Is there an app like this im switching from my vibrant to hd7 is there an app like this?

i'm trying Go Voice, but there's no functionality to listen to the message on the phone like there is with Android. i have my GVoice account set to send me a text msg when someone leaves me a message. limited yes, but works for me (for now).

I had no problems listening to messages on the phone. When you open the transcribed message, click the play icon just above the transcribed text.

yep... You're correct. Discovered this after playing around with options. Thanks for correcting my misstatement!

Try the GVoice app; I wrote it It has tile/toast push notifications too
1.0 is a bit rough, but I just submitted 1.1 to the market to clean up all the issues and add more features

1.1 is not available for me in the US Marketplace. Do you have any idea when it will be?

Koush, I have a question. Does your app support push notifications via WiFi only? For instance, I live in an area with no cell reception, and I'm forced to use wifi only. Will this app give me push notifications with just wifi on?

I'm using GoVoice and have been quite happy with it. Updates with feature improvements seem to be coming through on a regular basis. I just setup background notifications to the live tile and I am testing it out.

Well, Android phones by far have the best google voice app (obviously) I been using GoVoice and it seems to be working ok. Its a pain in the ass though, the fact that WIndows 7 cant multitask means that you have to start up GoVoice every single time it for me it just takes too long. The notifications are nice though, when you get a text message you'll see the notification at the top like you normally would with a regular text message.

how is it working out?
Did u have to set it up to recieve an email and/or sms for the live tile to update? My live tile for govoice wont update unless i open the program first

alright.
after digging around the developers website i found the right instructions for getting the push notifications and live tile to work.
sucks that it doesnt make the directions too clear on the app and elsewhere...

so yea... even though you will have your gvoice set up to send u an email for new voicemails, the gvmax end will cancel those out so you wont receive those annoying emails...
live tile works for me now.

Is there a way to get voicemain notifications similar to other ones (like SMS)? Won't do it for me.
EDIT: NVM it works. Just didn't get one the first time.

Is there a way to get the update notification to go away? My GF's HD7 has the update number on the live tile, but when we update it, it keeps saying it needs to update.

are you referring to the number that appears next to the icon (to indicate number of updates)? if so, have you tried just restarting the phone. i think it's all related to the known bug with the market place at present which causes the market place to crash every now and then.

nah, restarts dont fix it. Still wants to update even though its been updated countless times.

That's a known bug with the "trial" version of a lot of apps... Not sure if you're using a trial, or "free" version which can be downloaded as a trial

[Q] Facebook push notification

Hi,
I used to have facebook push notification on my Galaxy S.
However, since around 1.5 weeks back - I rarely get this notification.
Facebook notification refresh setting is already set to every 30 minutes (but why is this necessary? Since it should be a "pushed" notification, isn't it?)
I've done plenty of things on the phone in the past 2 weeks (one of them is factory wipe); so I can't put my finger on when is the last time the push notification work.
Anyone got any clue?

I don't think I've ever had the facility to have the notifcations pushed. It probably works out in your best interests as it will probably save you more battery life and data in the long run

I think the opposite actually.
If it's not "pushed", then the apps in your phone will try to connect at certain interval to check if there's latest records.
If my understand is correct, in the past, facebook application for android, works by using the 'refresh interval'. But in Dec, the "pushed notification" is added into this apps

Yeah the app itself has settings for regular updates but I hadn't noticed a push setting previously. Can only assume FB pulled it for some reason because the ROM's themselves don't really touch any third party .apks.

Guys..
I got "pushed' notification now; but only for messages so far.
This is what I did in facebook notification settings..
Untick all Notifications (e.g. messages, friend requests, event invites) and also untick the notifications. Also set the Refresh interval to - NEVER
get out from that notification setting page.
Get back in again and this time around, ticked all notifications back .. but keep the Refresh interval to NEVER.
Using push notificatiion, so don't need to ask the Facebook apps to "poll" the servers for latest data.
once again, i'm on 2.2.1 using Darky's ROM V8.0 with latest SpeedMod Kernel (dated 13th Jan 2011).

I wasn't getting any notifications pushed either and i read somewhere (can't remember where) that you can fix it by resetting the push notifications thing (i think its called c2dm).
One way of doing this is by going into Settings > Applications > Facebook > Clear Data
Then open up facebook, enter your details and it should work (it worked for me)

sounds like when I did change the notification setting, that have the some effect as clear the data and create a new one.

got the same prob also since last two weeks.. flash every rom from stock to custom.. from 2.1 to 2.2 based.. and finally on darky 8.1.. still push notification for facebook app not popping up anymore.. but it works fine before.. can someone identify what is the source of this problem?..

I actually do not have this problem BUT.... I can´t hear any pop sound when someone sends me a message on FaceBook....
I have gone into settings and enabled sound and everything there but I never hear any sound when I get a message
Any way to fix that?... would be SUPER sweet

Push notifications work via push service which is dependent upon "Android ID", not product code, I know that because I had problems with Kik Messenger which works with push notifications. People at Kik explained that push service is connected with unique Android ID of your device and if it changes, you will probably have problems with notifications. Android ID changes if you, for example, flash custom ROM. I was lucky enough to create complete nandroid backup when I first bought the phone. Kik didn't work properly on Darky's (or any other custom rom) so what I did was: restored my original ROM, installed Android ID changer from market, wrote down my ID, flashed Darky's again, installed Android ID changer again and restored my original ID.
Now push service works like a charm

on facebook desktop website, in the top right corner click "account" > "Account settings" > "mobile" (a tab).
The sms contains the content of the notification (altho can be cut short if too long) and depending on the context, a url to the mobile website.
EDIT: oops, looks like iceland isn't on the dropdown list... (probably no carriers in your country support the function ) Many other countries do though :S

I use F plus (flow) now.
Might not be push, but at least I get them now, which is more than the facebook app did ever did.

Which app do you use to locate your phone in case of loosing it?

I use Avast Anti theft features (formerly theft aware), install the app from the market and just uninstall the antivirus if you don't want it after installing the anti theft features.

It is, under google latitude. But latitude is more for family and friends to know where each other are, not to locate a lost device.
I've only used Androidlost and only installed it remotely when the phone was lost. I'm surprised so many of you would keep a persistent app which can monitor your every move and record audio and photos of you secretly. And people freaked out about Carrier IQ?

Thanks for advice Its a great app, and now I use it too

I have always used wheres my droid. You can use it to make it ring by sending it a text from any phone saying wheres my droid or you can locate it via gps by texting it gps my droid.

SeekDroid works well for me.

Androidlost looks great feature wise, but I couldn't get it to activate remotely via SMS. I sent the text via Verizon as well as a online SMS tool. Weird...

Yes its both unbelievable and embarrassing, that you have to pay for a Google Apps account to get this.

The Trial allows you to block one ITEM. You can use Groups to block multiple contacts.

I don't use this app, but your other one, Call Master, instead. On it I had to enable the slow radio start (something like that) when I was using anything other than a Samsung rom. I emphasize Samsung here because I don't use Call Master on a Samsung rom since it has its own call reject built in.

Indeed. But Call Master is not just for blocking calls, its for MANAGING CALLS, SMS and MMS. The people who need it understand its value and power.
RCB can be used that way too, to some extent.

I was using this app on this phone and the HTC thunderbolt I had to block my ex girlfriends calls and texts. I would still get texts occasionally and would have calls go through. I'm not trying to bash the app because I liked it over the other few that I used but their interfaces were crap and most didn't even let me have the pick up hangup feature. I stopped using it about 2 weeks ago so I don't know if there have been any updates since then. I know you said people were having trouble on the same but I was also using it with the thunderbolt and having the same issues. If there is a way I can help then by all means let me pm and let me know because I would definitely like to use this app again. I'll reinstall it and see what I can come up with.

What is your order number? There is just no way it could let some calls through and block others because the app completely replaces the telephony service.
The issue you describe occurs on pirated copies.

Lets just check:
- you are not blocking its access to the net via a security app
- you have it set to start on boot
- you have only one profile
As i understand, this problem occurred on a different phone? And it works fine now on the s3?

Been working fine on my CM10-Jellybro SGS3 ATT.
Wish for one thing though, would like to be able to long press the number in my call log and have it added to the black list. That's one thing I miss from running stock TW. (The ability to send number to reject )

Not possible im afraid. That sort of thing must be built into the framework. Other apps use a pop-up after every call, but i think thats just crap so itll never happen that way in CM or RCB.

Interesting how on some cm10 builds it works fine, others not.

Fixed issue that lead to intermittent blocking on JB and CM10

Would love to see the block from call log feature described above!
Been using RCB for a couple of months now. It does a great job.

Hey guys I am on DN4V2.2 which is more than awsome.I realized the other day that short codes are not working for sms messages. For example I got an email to text redbox 727272 with the message WELCOME for a free movie. When I do it,I get an"unfortunatley,the process com.android.phone has stopped . I am assuming it is blocked both ways because I haven't been receiving starbucks,verizon etc...texts either. I have googled for 3 days now and I can't find any answer that works. One suggestion was to clear data in contacts another was to change permissions in the messaging app to allow premium messaging which the option is not there to change. I came from DS NE5V1 and it was working then. I deleted adfree thinking it may have been the culprit but nothing changed so I replaced it with adaway.Anyone have any ideas?
《Edit》I did just receive a text from 727272 so apparently sms short codes are coming in . I tried to save it as a contact and even though I saved 727272 as a contact when I view it, the phone saved it as 727-272?

More than likely it's due to adaway. To prevent spammy texts. Have you tried removing or disabling it? Usually ad blockers in general disallow them. There may be settings in the app to allow them, I'm not sure as I don't use them. One other thing could be automatic formatting of phone numbers. May need to disable that.

Yea I tried restoring original host and disabling adfree and also adaway. I didn't enable automatic formatting either. It's really puzzling me. Thanks a lot for the help though. If ya think of anything else give me another shout.
