《《Solved by ota update 2.3-4》》
Hey guys I am on DN4V2.2 which is more than awsome.I realized the other day that short codes are not working for sms messages. For example I got an email to text redbox 727272 with the message WELCOME for a free movie. When I do it,I get an"unfortunatley, the process com.android.phone has stopped . I am assuming it is blocked both ways because I haven't been receiving starbucks, verizon etc...texts either. I have googled for 3 days now and I can't find any answer that works. One suggestion was to clear data in contacts another was to change permissions in the messaging app to allow premium messaging which the option is not there to change. I came from DS NE5V1 and it was working then. I deleted adfree thinking it may have been the culprit but nothing changed so I replaced it with adaway.Anyone have any ideas?
《Edit》I did just receive a text from 727272 so apparently sms short codes are coming in . I tried to save it as a contact and even though I saved 727272 as a contact when I view it, the phone saved it as 727-272?

More than likely it's due to adaway. To prevent spammy texts. Have you tried removing or disabling it? Usually ad blockers in general disallow them. There may be settings in the app to allow them, I'm not sure as I don't use them. One other thing could be automatic formatting of phone numbers. May need to disable that.
Yea I tried restoring original host and disabling adfree and also adaway. I didn't enable automatic formatting either. It's really puzzling me. Thanks a lot for the help though. If ya think of anything else give me another shout.

Hey all,
Loving the MC2.0 ROM and its speediness but having a big issue with ChompSMS since I installed it.
Whenever I try to create a new SMS when I press Send I get the following...
"The application chompSMS (process com.p1.chompsms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and I have to force close.
The SMS then shows in the inbox but with just the recipient name, no content and if I select it then it opens up but completely blank, not even the correct recipient selected as shown before I opened it.
If I reply to an SMS that I have received, or send an SMS to someone I have sent one too before via the original Messaging program then it goes through OK.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Russ
Also experiencing the exact same problem after upgrading to Modaco 2.0
Hmm, I just checked it and i have the same problem. Is it gone with MC 2.1 ?
think the problem could be your mmssms.db which is the database of all your txts.
think something mustve changed with how its read in the new rom leak.
Its location is /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
I used root explorer but adb shell should work.
So what do you recommend to do?
rename it mmssmsback.db and enter the messaging program this should create a new one.
I have no idea how to do that? Flashing with MC2.0 was only possible due to nice simple directions, could do with more of the same
I renamed it and it did create a new mmssms.db after a reboot, but ChompSMS is still crashing if I try to send a message.
Thank you anyways.
I have the same problem.

Seems its a problem with chompsms then, looks like an email to the dev may be in order.
That seems weird, I'm no trouble at all using ChompSMS and I'm using MCR2.0. Try doing a wipe and see if that fixes your issue.
I did a wipe before installing MCR2.0. Are you sending your SMS through Chomp service or with mobile carrier?
Same here, I did a wipe before install and am sending through carrier not Chomp service
I'am sending through the carrier. I realised its when you try to initiate a new conversation through chompsms it does a FC but if your smsing in an already initiated conversation it has no problems. I already have conversations with all my contacts thats why I didn't experience this problem at first.
I had the same problem, but after a double wipe, it went away.
edit: never mind.. I had only replied to already started conversations, same as poster above.
I emailed the ChompSMS support pointing them towards this thread, they replied pretty quickly saying they would take a look so fingers crossed
There is a update on market place seems to work for me on 2.2
Strange. I'm having the exact same problem even after Updating to the latest 2.9 Chomp.
Anyone figure out a solution yet?
Yeah still the same problem here too
Are there any alternative SMS Apps like Chomp that you guys would recommend? I'm really loving Chomp except for this little problem.
I have tried other SMS Apps and even the stock app and for some reason, they can't organize my conversations in proper order. Only chomp is capable of listing them correctly.
I am having a issue that started today for some reason. When I try to send a text message or any kind of message for that matter from the messaging program that comes on the phone....the message just sits there and say sending..... underneath what you are trying to send. So that tells me its hanging and net getting out. I can receive message with no problems. Can anyone direct me of what to do to correct it ? I have made sure all my settings in Network settings are the way they are suppose to be like they have been all along. Any help or directions or ideas would be so great. Thanks for your time.

more details.. on stock?
silly question but you'll be surprised... have you tried rebooting?
wipe caches?
fix permissions?
3rd party messenger?
yeah I have went over all that. I have checked all the messaging settings/permissions. I have rebooted a number of times. I have cleaned out all cache that I can...even with deep cleaner apps from the market. I even tried to install and use the handcent messaging app from the market and I get the same results. I try to send a text and the message notifier just sits there and spins because it is not going through. Again though, I can receive messages. this is really beginning to upset me.

well i did something tonight and it corrected everything. I installed a new rom on my Samsung Galaxy S2-t989. Its called the Tuesday Rom. It works really awesome. My phone is sickly much quicker and system storage and my main gig drive space increased because this new rom requires less space to install. Check it out. awesome !!!!! Look for the video on youtube..search these keywords.....Tuesday ROM for T-mobile Galaxy S2! [SGH-T989]
Hi all,
Having looked around I don't see anyone with the same issue as mine with regards to SMS.
I just got a new Nexus 2 days ago, and got the 4.0.4 update by doing the clear cache thing. All good.
I installed SMSBackup+ and started to restore all my text messages. Now I have about 21,000. Honestly I have no idea how I have that many, its possible some are dupes or something, I really don't know. But basically I left it to restore them overnight and woke up this morning with all my messages restored. Lovely.
But now, I tried to send a text to someone and it just froze. I quit to the home screen, went to go back to the message app but it just sits with a black screen doing nothing.
I presume its got something to do with it trying to load all the messages for the first time or something like that but I'm a bit gutted that it can't handle it. My old Galaxy S could handle them all with ease.
Is this a known issue on the GNex or am I asking too much with the volume of SMSs??
I'm a bit gutted if I've bought this brand new state of the art phone and it can't handle what my two year old SGS could!
It might have been the case that a couple of messages were corrupt. Try clearing the sms data and restoring again but only blocks at a time. If that doesn't work the messaging app might have an issue since your now running ics.
This could be an issue that hasn't been explored as your not the average user. I for 1 limit my messages at 200 a contact.

Thanks RT, but its so slow/congested it won't let me delete them either! I tried by going into the message app and choosing delete threads.
It loads every time I reboot the phone but if I do anything on it at all, it just shows me a black screen.
On first load I can see all the messages, but if I go into one of them, even one that is only 2 threads long, it just freezes on me.
Any idea how I can delete the SMS data without going through the message app?
Or am I staring down the barrel at a factory reset? (this isn't the end of the world as I only got the phone yesterday and haven't really installed anything yet)
Right then,
So instead of trying to do something with the stock message app to delete the sms messages, I downloaded delete old messages app and ran that before loading up the stock message software.
I think the next time I restore them I will try and put the 200 cap on them like my SGS did (I thought this was a limitation of the phone not an actual setting that I could adjust! I presume I'll find it in the stock SMS settings somewhere?)
Thanks for the help RT.
I've had that issue since froyo. anytime I restore thousands of texts, the messaging app just hangs. On the rare occasion it'll come to life but for the most part unusable. only solution seems to be to restore a small portion of your texts or have a blank slate

Quit being so popular. Too many SMS.
I made a second label in my GMail I call SMS Backup and every few weeks I'll change my backed-up messages from SMS to the Backup label so when/if I wipe and restore, it doesn't pull in all my messages. If I need anything, I can easily search for it.

To delete your messages / settings go into the sms app under Settings-Apps and clear all your data.
Yes you find the sms limit setting in the general setting within the sms app.

Hiya.
I have a problem with sms. Me and my gf have sent several thousand sms between each other, and yesterday I noticed that I can't access our sms. It just says "loading" for a very long time.
I can't even delete them, nothing happens when I do that.
Any solutions? I don't really want to reinstall the whole phone.

I would try getting a third-party SMS app, to see if you can view them on that such as GOSMS.
If you can, try to delete them using that, and then go back to the stock SMS tosee if that helps, then you can delete the third-party app, it is just so you can use the SMS functions as you explain you cannot even delete them
Hope this helps.
Hey,
i think you have to restore your phone to default.
Normally your SD-Card get not touched by this process.

I managed to solve the problem by installing third party sms app. Thanks for the tip
There were around 4850 sms. I don't know why this happened though, did I hit the limit or something?

Android has a native limit of about 5000 SMS I believe. I had this same problem and if left long enough (hours) it would finally load but required that same waiting period each time I opened the SMS app. It was only one conversation that had a ton of texts but it still froze the whole app.
I installed SMS Backup and Restore + (its free) and it backs up all SMS and MMS to my gmail then deleted the conversation. If you go into the messages app into the menu (possibly advanced menu, can't recall) you can change the limit and android will just auto delete anything over the limit you set.
I think I set it for around 3000 SMS and 200 MMS and its been working fine since.
Hello everyone,
Relatively new Android user here. I've been running Cyanogenmod 12 Nightlies on my Sprint HTC One m8, and for some reason, I cannot seem to get the messaging or email apps to work properly.
When I set CM Messenger as my default texting app, I can receive messages just fine, but when I go to send, it's as if the sending button is disabled. From what I can tell, setting Messenger as the default texting app should enable the send button, but that's simply not the case for me. The only info I've been able to find online said that Voice + caused this problem, but I think that was specific to CM 11. I don't recognize any apps on my phone that would be the Android L equivalent of Voice +.
As for Email, whenever I try to connect my gmail account, I get a message saying that verification couldn't be completed because the password is wrong. After this, the app closes automatically, and upon reopening it, the app seems to be hung up on syncing but never actually does anything. I've tried linking my account both automatically and manually — both methods yield the same result.
The odd thing is that 3rd party messaging and email apps work just fine. I've been using them as a workaround, but I'd really like to use the stock apps if possible! And aside from that, I'm totally stumped and would really like to figure out what is causing this issue. Any insight you could provide would be very much appreciated!

Update: I got the email app to work — I had the sync parameter set to never because I like to manually retrieve my mail, but it seems like that completely stops the app from syncing at all. It's still a little buggy, but at least it's working. Still no fix yet for SMS app.....

Hello,
Thanks for your reply! I have been using a third party sms app for the time being, but I'd still really like to figure out what's causing this issue. Call me a glutton for punishment I've searched a lot on XDA for a specific cyanogenmod Q&A, but I'm new here, and I'm finding the search interface a bit confusing. Could you post a link to the specific thread you're referring to?
