this is the tar, put this in pda, make sure u extract first
I reboot the phone and now everything seems unchanged. It also doesn't ask me for an update any more. So I guess my question now is: since I'm using LoSt Kernel and Starburst 1.98 rom, the LOS seems not a problem for me. Do I still need to update it in case it asks me again later?
you need to be full stock to install the update

Alright, so I have cwm3, and was trying to use Bonsai 2.0. At one point I was able to get my phone to turn on, but it would constantly switch airplane mode on and off. I tried flashing it to the previous restore point, but then it would either freeze with the samsung icon, or still get no signal. Now I tried to hook it to odin and follow the instructions with the pit and dk18 tar. It either sets at setupconnection, or says failed.
Now when I try and start my phone it shows a picture of a cellphone and a computer with a ! in the middle. Any help would be amazing!!
The picture u see unofficially means use odin
Check if your tar file is the right size
That might be the problem

I've found multiple different tars, which one do I need?
Okay, I finally got Odin to work, but now with bonsai I still cant get out of airplane mode. Is there an update I need to flash?

You need to odin stock dk28 to get the modem, the issue you arehaving is due to not having the proper modem. But, if I were you I would flash stock eb13 and wait for the bonsai custom rom based off of that

Not getting on you for using dk28 but soon, and real soon dk28 will be dead no more support.
Probably as early as today most devs will stop supporting dk28 roms period.
In a few days a new wave of awesome Roms will appear on the site.
its going to be a dead horse so to speak.
Thanks everyone, I flashed the dk28 modem and it works fine now. And yeah, I head even my bonsai rom will be going eb13, so I probably should have waited. Hah.
Big thanks to RoadRAGEN for helping me figure out an ext4 issue! Odin this to get Odexed stock EG30 with latest root and su binary and Busybox 1.18.4.
This does not wipe data.
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your phone. You do this at your own risk.
I have only tested this with the stock kernel and Bubby's CWM kernel.
Download
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have installed the proper XP or Win7 drivers before starting. Also, remove the SD card from the phone (this may not be necessary, but having the SD card installed has caused Odin to fail for a number of people, so might as well just do it).
1. Extract the contents of the zip file to a folder
2. Open odin
3. Put your phone in download mode (Shut it off, wait for lights to all go out, then hold v-down + power)
4. connect phone (you should see odin put a Com4 or something like that in the first box. The actual number is NOT important what is important is something popped up there when you connected your device, meaning ODIN can see it)
5. The only box that should be checked is Auto Reboot.
6. You do not need to choose a pit file.
7. In the PDA Section choose the tar file. (Odexed-Rooted-Busybox-EG30.tar)
8. Hit start. It will do its thing.
9. If it fails than try a new cable.
10. If the phone hangs for any reason take the battery and sdcard out and let it sit for an hour. Put it back together and try again.

Yes. That is what I have done in testing.
So with this we will have as stock of a ROM as we can currently have, yet still have root and busybox? By stock, I mean the default, out of the factory stock ROM which many claim does not have the LOS issues? Just confused somewhat...
Dude, major win here. Good work!

Nothing is bad as long as you can get into download mode no matter what you did. If it won't work you just odin it back.

That is correct. It is a stock file system with root and busybox. This is not a kernel so it will not replace that or any issues with that.

Wait please tell me exactly what you did you tried to flash a rom? Thru odin? Or tried rooting thru odin and on what software ei22? Ec05 etc.
Sent From My Cyan Samurai
Well if you can't get into cwm try to odin back to stock ec05 then flash a custom recovery in odin and then download a rom and flash it in cwm. I'm sorely confused on what you did please expand
Sent From My Cyan Samurai
i used odin 1.85 and used the lostkernel 1.02.4 something like that when i tried to root my phone.
Okay well I've never heard of it. Anyways just go ahead and flash back to stock ec05 if you don't know how to do this then follow this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ2g6J1JgjU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Once back on ec05 you have two options update to ei22 or just root ec05 by flashing a recovery not a kernel. Ill provide you a recovery give me a second.
Sent From My Cyan Samurai
Kala..if u have the stock ec05 file on ur pc..odin back to eco5, and then let the phone do the ota update to ei22. From that point u can go ahead and the rooting process. Make sure u are not using the data cable that came with the phone.

Yes, go to the development thread. Both EK02 and EL29 were officially released so both are full modems you can flash through either odin or cwm.

To be more accurate, both were "unofficially" released, so we have the full modems which can be flashed in odin or cwm. When they are "officially" released as OTA updates, we usually only get the patch modems, which won't work in ODIN.
There are links to all the modems (flashable in CWM) in my signature. You need to have a kernel EK02 or newer to flash full modems in CWM else it will hang. If you need an ODIN flashable modem, they are in the 2nd post of each of the respective ODIN links in my signature.
So I should just find a tar and pit for one of those and flash that through odin ? I heard that with eg31 you are unable to change it by flashing through odin and that an ota update was the, only way to really get it off

If you look at the 2nd post of all the ODIN links in my signature, it will have a link for the ODIN download and the individual tar files for modem, kernel, and ROM. In your case, if you just want the modem, just download the modem. The way I set it up, you ALWAYS use the PDA button for all the downloads. Don't use any other button in ODIN.
What you are reading with EG31 is old information. When EG31 first came out, we didn't have any FULL modems from Samsung/Sprint, so that's why once you had EG31, you couldn't go to any other version, not because you were prevented from doing so, but rather we didn't have any other modems available to flash in ODIN.
Now that we have all the modems, you can go to any modem you want in ODIN. In CWM you can do it also as long as your kernel is EK02 or newer.
Thank you very much that made my day

Hey guys,
I have a problem with my phone's USB connection. It constantly believes it is connected regardless if it is or not. As a result, I cannot put the device in Developer mode to unroot the device.
I need to unroot the device so that Sprint can replace it for me. Every version of odin I see available is of the rooted variety and the FH13 Odin unrooted version has been pulled for now.
Does anyone have an unrooted odin tar available?
Thanks

You can use one of sfhub's One-Clicks on the phone.
You'll need a zip extractor and Mobile Odin. [There is a free version of Mobile Odin around there that Chainfire provide for the XDA Crowd; you just need to flash his support files]
Follow sfhub's superb instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721229
Then just delete the superuser apk.
That should surely be enough for you to show Sprint your stock.
Finally finished. Backup whatever you need to and flash this in CWM. This will give you stock FH13 with wiped data and stock kernel. You can flash the FH13 modem before using that zip or Odin it if you want a matching set. If you aren't already using the FH13 modem that is.
