Yes, go to the development thread. Both EK02 and EL29 were officially released so both are full modems you can flash through either odin or cwm.

To be more accurate, both were "unofficially" released, so we have the full modems which can be flashed in odin or cwm. When they are "officially" released as OTA updates, we usually only get the patch modems, which won't work in ODIN.
There are links to all the modems (flashable in CWM) in my signature. You need to have a kernel EK02 or newer to flash full modems in CWM else it will hang. If you need an ODIN flashable modem, they are in the 2nd post of each of the respective ODIN links in my signature.

So I should just find a tar and pit for one of those and flash that through odin ? I heard that with eg31 you are unable to change it by flashing through odin and that an ota update was the, only way to really get it off

If you look at the 2nd post of all the ODIN links in my signature, it will have a link for the ODIN download and the individual tar files for modem, kernel, and ROM. In your case, if you just want the modem, just download the modem. The way I set it up, you ALWAYS use the PDA button for all the downloads. Don't use any other button in ODIN.
What you are reading with EG31 is old information. When EG31 first came out, we didn't have any FULL modems from Samsung/Sprint, so that's why once you had EG31, you couldn't go to any other version, not because you were prevented from doing so, but rather we didn't have any other modems available to flash in ODIN.
Now that we have all the modems, you can go to any modem you want in ODIN. In CWM you can do it also as long as your kernel is EK02 or newer.

Thank you very much that made my day

You sir, are on fire.
Thanks for this, will try when I get home or maybe we can use it with MobileOdin?
curious... is there a issue with the new modem??
No, not related to modem. They ported over their bootloader changes from GSM which don't allow Odin flash count reset.
It is overkill, but the EG30 factory reset tar sticky will also give you back a bootloader which will allow USB jig to reset flash count.
For those that don't work what did you do to get the ! and what setup are you on. Because I was on ek02, flashed calk's el13 rom, flashed the el13 modem, flashed my el13 aio, flashed the stock el13 kernel, odined the stock ek02 kernel with cwm to get cwm mod back, flashed roque el13 kernel and used the jig to reset the counter. No issue at all. I am about to odin the EL13 kernel to see if the jig will work in that scenario.
Awesome I was just thinking about this issue this morning, and was going to ask how to get the old bootloader back. But I'm interested in finding out how crawrj's bootloader didn't seem to change in the steps he took.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Just odined rogue el13 and got the !. Used my jig and no !. So it is working fine for me. Only possible difference is the AIO mod but I don't see how that would make a difference.

If you didn't flash the leaked ODIN tar from sammobile.com (the one with the password to unzip) then you can flash until you are blue in the face and still not have the "privilege" of having a bootloader which doesn't honor the jig.
None of the flashes you described touched the bootloader. You are only flashing modems, kernels, and ROMs.

Right on. I suspected it was the Odin TAR directly from Samfirmware. Maybe the OP should be updated to make this distinction Calkulin? Could stop people from unnecessary flashes if they don't read the contents of this thread beyond the OP.
you can hard brick your device if you flash an sbl and its interupted, or if you flash one not for the phone. I don't recommend anyone flashing it unless the absolutely need to..

Do you also have a copy of the new boot loader as well? I heard its ok to flash it back after you reset the triangle. Someone else suggested it in another SGSII forum.

I went to Caulk's Beta 2 and my yellow triangle has disappeared -- is there a way to check my counter now?
To see the counter just boot in download mode. And to get out of there hold down the power button

I actually do not have the triangle but in my odin download mode, I see a flash count of 2. Do you know or anyone know if the app will reset that? If not, where's a good place to buy a usb jig to reset my counter...?
Nevermind my question... I checked out the app description and it says that it does reset the odin count. Not only that... I didn't realize that app started from XDA and is offered for free vs the 1.99 cost of the app.

Directly Flash EK02 Modem in CWM over ANY existing modem w/o reverting to EG30

There is now a CWM update.zip to flash the EK02 modem on top of ANY existing modem WITHOUT needing to revert to EG30 first.
Serial flashers rejoice!
update-modem-EK02-FULL-CWM.zip
IMPORTANT: Only EK02 kernels and higher support FULL modem flashes (which these are). Earlier kernels only support PATCH modem flashes. That means you need to be on EK02+CWM or EL13+CWM to run these CWM modem flashes. It has nothing to do with the modems themselves, it has to do with the kernels. If you try to flash FULL modem flashes in earlier kernels it will just hang for a long time and timeout. If you press-and-hold the power button while it is hung (wait 2 minutes before doing that), it'll reboot the phone and you will be on your old modem.
Testing was done using chris41g's EK02+CWM, and EL13+CWM stock repacked kernels (these are the ones installed by the Auto Root Thread) but should work on any stock-derived EK02/EL13-based kernels. Recompiled kernels may or may not work, weren't tested.
I also created CWM update.zip's for EG30, EG31, EK02, and EL13.
They are available in the Resource Section #a13 (2nd post) of the Auto Root Thread and also in my signature.
I've also updated the Wiki DB.
Enjoy!
I am confused. How was this accomplished with only a delta?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Damn...I could have used this earlier today to get back to EK02 from EL13. Great work man, this will definitely be helpful.

Which kernel are you using? Are you using CWM? It needs to flash in CWM, not stock recovery.
Just to test your scenario out, I was running
EK02 Modem, EL13+CWM Kernel, EG30 ROM
I booted into CWM recovery and installed EG31 Modem using the first post.
Rebooted the phone, went to menu->about phone, verified EG31 Modem (EL13+CWM Kernel, EG30 ROM)
I ran a speed test over 3G then enabled WiFi and ran a speed test on that. Both were normal.
I then booted into CWM recovery again, and installed the EK02 Modem using the first post.
Rebooted the phone, went to menu->about phone, verified EK02 Modem (EL13+CWM Kernel, EG30 ROM)
Again ran a speed test over 3G then enabled WiFi and ran a speed test on that. Both were normal.
As an aside, with all 4 modems (EG30, EG31, EK02, and EL13) sitting on the /sdcard as full CWM updaters, switching modems has become a breeze. Takes on avg 2.5 minutes including flash and reboot time to switch to any of the modems.

So you have EG31+CWM *chris41g repack* Kernel and EG31 Modem, correct?
And the current operation that is failing for you is flashing to EK02 modem using the first post?

Starting with EK02 Modem, EL13+CWM Kernel, and EG30 ROM, I downloaded the e4gtauto-sfx.exe packaged from the Auto Root thread in my signature.
I started the Auto Root, Chose Option C (install BootImg), and Option C (EG31+CWM), let phone reboot, went to settings->about phone, verified EG31 Kernel (EG30-CL435803 ie EG30-Rev5).
I now have EK02 Modem, EG31+CWM Kernel, EG30 ROM.
I reboot into CWM and flash EG31 Modem from my signature, here it hangs trying to flash EG31.
That was the kernel I didn't test since I'm never on EG31. Figures that is the one that hangs.
Apparently it doesn't have anything to do with the EK02 modem flash. It won't flash EG31 or EG30 either.
I went back and tested EG30 since I realize I had only tested a patch upgrade from EG30. Now it makes sense. Neither EG30 nor EG31 (built 1 day apart) kernels support FULL modem flashes. They only support PATCH modem flashes. EK02 and EL13 kernels support both FULL and PATCH modem flashes.
My suggestion is to install either EK02+CWM or EL13+CWM from the Auto Root thread in my signature. Then you can flash any of the modems any of the time.
Thanks for the detailed break down. Coming from an OG Evo, things used to be much easier lol

Did the Evo support flashing full modems from CWM? I never had one so don't know.
On other platforms I had only seen patch updates also so when Samsung was supporting full updates I was thinking they were pretty on top of things. Apparently they just recently became the cool kids on the block and before they were like the other kids.
You can of course flash the FULL modems over ODIN w/o issues similar to RUU flashes on HTC.
Everything has it's caveats, if you flashed bad radios on the Evo you could potentially lose the phone's WiMax keys, making 4G unusable. ODIN is definitely a blessing for Samsung phones though. The phone is ALMOST unbrickable with Odin.

Do you have to be running Chris's repacked kernel to use this? Does it work with the Rogue kernel and their recovery or you need to flash the stock repack? I am on EL13 and just wanted to know in case I want to roll back unless EK02 modem will flash over EL13 with a problem anyway....

I don't remember the Rogue naming conventions, there was one with a custom kernel and the other with stock repacked. The stock repacked should work as long as it is an EK02 or EL13-based kernel. The custom one may or may not, I don't know, wasn't tested.

The E4GT Mobile Odin Thread

I hope hoping to get some discussion going regarding Mobile Odin and how it's working for people on our device.
So far, I've exclusively used it to flash kernels, but has anyone successfully flashed a full TAR with it yet? More specifically, has that full TAR also flashed your modem? I tried flashing a modem.bin file last night using MO, and while it went through the whole process in a way that appeared to be normal, upon reboot baseband was unchanged. I've read about others experiencing the same thing.
According to Chainfire regarding the modem.bin issue ...

I also read about some kernel panic mode reports when trying to use MO to flash the latest FC05 TAR.
So if you've used Mobile Odin, please share your successes and or failures. It's obviously a great tool but I'd like to identify where it's working and where it may not, for our device specifically.
I have used it going from ics back to GB ....but have only been flashing eg30 stock tar and then el26 cwm kernel .....then I boot into recovery and flash cm 7 if going to aokp or whatever ....I have tried fc05 & fb27 modem and they don't work it goes to like it is flashing it but finishes real quick like 10 seconds .... And normal Odin takes like a minute or more to flash modem...

I have been using to flash kernels and modems up until FC05. For some reason it will no longer flash modems, like said, it goes through the motions.
Ah, just remembered, used it to flash 27 tar, whole ROM. Flashed modem/kernel/system no issues. Even used it to open that .tar and just flash the modem or kernel once or twice.
The only thing that scares me about MOdin is getting a force close during a flash and hosing my phone.

I don't think that's possible. It seems to get the files ready then actually does the flashing on the reboot, as some kind of preboot flash function. When I flash a modem for example, upon reboot a Mobile Odin screen comes up and does stuff then the phone's OS boots.

Hmmm. So it sounds like you can flash a modem as a piece out of a TAR image, but not from a modem.bin file. I've tried the modem.bins for EL29, FC21 and FC27 all with the same result, which is no change.
You can pick parts out of a .tar.
I've had no luck with .bin files either.

Indeed, but you need to be EXTREMELY careful, like even more so than you do when modifying a .zip file.
.md5, .tar, etc. -- those are risky business to tamper with, unless you can repackage it and sign it correctly after adjusting, removing, and what have you.

I've had issues with flashing modem's via Mobile Odin. The first time the process went through "successfully" to find out that the baseband version never changed. The second time my phone froze forcing a battery pull and going into recovery manually ultimately for the same result as the first try. (TAR files were verified download correctly)
PC Odin worked like a charm, the first time.
