Is anyone else getting a lot of error 128 today? I've been getting it a lot, went back to my last verified Nandroid, still getting it. Wondering if it's a Sprint network thing?
Man am I glad to see another 128. I did get this about 12pm central time. I am in St. Louis.
I ended up doing a nand and then wiping cache and dev cache. When it rebooted, 3g came on. I am not back to normal.
BTW, I am running Mik 4.5 with net kernel 4.3.2 cfs-sbc-havs less.

I had the same problem, starting around 11am CST. I'm outside of st. louis as well. wiping and nand restore then reflashing the kernel did the trick for me. running rooted 2.2 stock rom with netarchy-toastmod 4.3.1 kernel.
Well, hopefully the OP will reply with his location. I am thinking that we will see more about this in the next few hours if its a St. Louis thing. I know a few others that run Miks rom and are in the St. Louis area.
I kind of don't think its a rooted/rom/kernel issue. diluchid, you and I are on two different roms and kernels so that should eliminate that as a problem.
Both of you check your PRL.
I just saw that there is a new PRL out, 60676, and updated it. Haven't had 128s in about 15 minutes since I updated.
Lemme know what you find, please
I'm in STL as well!
I updated my profile and prl earlier when I first started having problems. Got nothing. Well, I wonder if when I cleared my caches in recovery if that forced the prl update or something. I now have 60676 and all seems to be working.
FYI when searching the problem I came across a Sprint tech site that listed upcoming updates. It listed an update for St. Louis scheduled for 3/14/2011 at 08:00. Lasting 6 hours and its a software update.
https://www.sprint.net/maint_view.php
Hrm, I wonder if they switched something prior to the update, a la "oops"?
I texted a buddy of mine who is running an Evo with the same ROM (Warm TwoPointTwo), and he'd had no problems at all today. When I asked, he had 60676.
I bet you are right. I thought the same thing. A la opps. only us "nose to the phone 24/7ers" would notice. I thought it was odd that 4g was giving the same error 128 message. I figured that had nothing to do with the prl. Given that the Wimax has its own keys. I don't really know how all that works though.
Actually I've read some stuff that indicates PRL has impact on Wimax too.

should be fine now:
• CDMA customers in the St. Louis, MO area should no longer experience problems with data services.
Just out of curiosity, where did you find that update. I still don't get much when I google this. Well, except for this thread. LOL.
Not sure when and with what ROM this started happening but my signal drops to 1x really frequently. 3G is always going in and out. Any ideas or fixes? Has this been discussed somewhere before? On train ride in to work so haven't searched threads yet! I flashed synergy a few days ago coming from mikg and before that gingerale..and before that cyanogen! It seems like I've had the problem since moving back to sense from cyanogen about a month/month and a half ago.

Where are you located? Have you had speed related issues?
Sprint has been having issues related to the overloading of towers with the excessive growth of data usage [with the boom of the Evo]
Towers are set to send some phones to 1x when 3g usage is high in order to alleviate speed issues for all.
That could explain your issues.

I live in the northwest suburbs outside of downtown Chicago. I work and commute to the city and I experience it the whole ride to and from home. I will be sitting at my desk and randomly go from full 3G to 1x. At home in the suburbs, my signal is terrible in my house already but I do get dropped to 1x as well. Don't really notice any speed changes besides the normal slowdowns from what I am assuming is the congestion.
That sounds like a horrible way to fix their congestion issues! Is this something they just started doing? Like I said in the first post, everything functioned perfect up until a month or two ago. Also, would they apply that to an area as big as Chicago out the suburbs?

It's not a fix, it's just a way to alleviate some congestion while they work on redoing the towers.
I'm not saying this is what's happening to you but it's likely.
You can try to have the phone reactivate itself. [If I recall correctly that function is in ##yourmsl#]
You can get your MSL here.
You can also try to update your PRL and then Data profile.
Same thing here. I've complained to Sprint several times so now they want me to bring my phone in to be checked so I need to unroot. Ugh

Thanks for the info. I will give it a shot. I did update my PRL and profile in that order but didn't seem to help. If nothing helps maybe I'll have to get this bad boy replaced or something.

Also, and before you ask there is no logical reasoning for this and even the very knowledgeable technician that recommended it hasn't figured out why it would do anything, you can try going to ##3282# and clicking "view" and then clicking on EVDO and then backing out and trying the internet.
They don't know why that would do anything and no it doesn't make any sense...but that's exactly why I refuse to go into anything related to working on computers...for being logical they aren't logical...at all.
By the way, doesn't hurt to keep your radios updated.
Best of luck.

Haha, I am actually in IT so I know exactly what you mean. I will try that out as well. And my radios were updated and I was actually considering rolling back to see if that caused any issues for me.
Let me correct myself, sorry I never run Sense, it's ##786# then you hit menu and hit reset.
You need to have your MSL. Also, please note that this will erase your /data and you will lose all personal information.
Furthermore, be sure to cancel when it tries to do a check for firmware update.
This honestly may be more trouble than it worth though.
Thanks, yeah I found the reset option in another thread. I reset, hit the prl update, cancelled the firmware check and will run this around town for the day see if I get 1x. I'll post back here later today. thanks again for the help!
Well used for most of the day and so far so good. Saw it go down 1x once on train compared to everytime I unlocked the phone. Let's hope this isn't temporary . Ill post again after the weekend to test around the suburbs and state to state during a trip to toronto. Thanks again!
Oh and speed still sucks but that's a sprint issue obviously.

I had the same problem a month ago. It's the phone. I tried many different combination of radios and roms but no help. Ended up exchanging it. When you bring in the phone just use the android browser to load a heavy graphic webpage which should take forever in 1x mode.
Just want to know if there is any news about the latest GSM update because I have not received it and yes I'm on Google build.
With all the reports of signal problems and others have they pulled the update?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Nope.

as OTA it seems that yes, it has been pulled
I don't think its being "pushed" per say, but the OTA link usually stays up.
Search around for it.

That's just speculation. It's more likely that they are collecting feedback from the first wave of updates as JBQ said. After all, the entire reason for not rolling it out to everyone at the same time is so that they can see that the updated devices come back up and seem to work normally.
Think of it this way. If you push out the update to 100 phones and 70 of them never come back up (ie. they don't login to Google within a certain amount of time), then you have a potential problem with the update.
Maybe not pulled since you can still get the factory image but OTA rollout has been stopped according to a vodafone rep: http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Google-Nexus/ICS-4-04-Update/m-p/1073311#M13631
There is no OTA 4.0.4 update for more than one week for yakju build devices.
I wouldn't complain if it has. A lot of GSM users complaining of radio troubles during sleep.
Does not affect CDMA users though
Seems like the tables turned on radio issues in 4.0.4. CDMA is better, GSM...not so much.
I don't know if it's been pulled as I've already updated to 4.0.4 but I can say that mine is problem free (thank god).
I find it strange that it doesn't affect everyone.... Anyone have any idea why?

There are multitudes of factors to account for when diagnosing or replicating problems across all devices that are not equal per se. I didn't think I had the problem until my text stopped sending after clicking enter. The signal dropped out as well as other radios were gone for a brief moment.
I think it's only a matter of time before it happens to most people.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I can definitely say my cell network data connection has refused to function on multiple occasions on 4.0.4. Possibly the sleep issue. Once restarting the phone fixed it, once not even doing a battery pull could fix it. It started working again at some random time later. I was trying to nail down if walking far enough that being a different tower fixed it or not.
Definitely given the amount of people complaining and the fact I've seen some wonky data connection issues it seems there is a bug.
I bought mine from Negri back in November, it came with yakju. On TMo in NYC.

I'm guessing a rushed 4.0.5 is soon to be released to fix the sleep and signal issues.

When you say rushed, that means at least a month from now, right? It is Google after all.
But I'm not going to complain about 4.0.4; it works fine for me. What I still hate is the poor communication from Google.

Yeah, I know the .001% of the population on XDA wants weekly massive improvement updates streaming to their Nexi, but it is simply unrealistic. This stuff takes time.
Silence is aggravating, but our phones get updates a LIGHT SPEED vs. any other Android phone. I'll take that any day of the week despite not getting an hourly update from the Android developers working on the inside. They're busy, believe me.
Alright so i've been having this problem on and off latley and its getting on my nerves. I will randomly throughout the day lose all mobile connect and revert to roaming. i know its not with carrier dropping the signal because ive called and asked for status in my area. If i reflash my current rom i will gain 3g again for about 10 minutes then lose it. I have attached a picture of all my phone specs.
Any ideas whats going on and how to fix it?
Does it happen on gingerbread roms or just on ics?
not sure. only had AOKP build 37 flashed
Sorry seen your other post with your other issues. I see you are on the new software and stuck with s on. If you want stable awesome rom with everything working I recommend the M5.01 ext4. Awesome ROM actually made me like sense and everything works great!
I had this happen 3 times today. I am rooted running andybones stock.
However my wife was on her unrooted totally stock rhyme when she got home a few hours ago and she said she got the popup as well. So it wasn't just my phone. Seems like it could be a problem with the network in our area.
I updated my prl last night on got a new number 52811. Now the problem seems worse. Called Verizon and they confirmed that that is the current prl. Also today my battery dropped from 80% to 30% in about 3 hours. Not really sure what is happening. Thought it was a Verizon thing but now out seems it might be my phone. Guess I will try to mess with the internal antennae.

yeah verizon is trying to send me a new inc 2 but they have none available to be shipped out until next week....
I really think it is a network issue and not a phone issue (although it could be something related to the antennae on the back cover).
I have noticed my phone getting hotter than usual only on the bottom half only when I am using 3g (but not on wifi at all) as well as network issues such as jumping to 1x where I always have 3g service after updating my PRL yesterday. i called verizon and they verified that it is the current PRL 52811.
The network issues are more noticeable if I hold the phone anywhere on the bottom half.
This is for people who haven't already manually rooted/updated their phones.
If you did get the OTA update, I'd be interested in what city/state you got it. I'm wondering if it is regional, random or perhaps by SN or billing date.
Yeah, got it yesterday.
I had flashed back to stock 4.0.2 last night and didn't get it. I checked this morning and didn't get it. I re-rooted back into my twrp backup until the OTA is more heavily rolled out.
Nothing yet in Dallas. Had the phone since day 1.
Not yet. I bought the phone in late December, live in N. VA but spend more waking hours in Washington DC.

It was built at last month.
How could you have received it months ago?
Got the update a few hours ago by doing the "Framework Services" trick. Funny thing is, I did it about 20 times this morning with no luck. I was bored and figured, why not try it again, and this time it pulled the update on the first try. Downloaded/Rebooted/Installed with no issues.
Am noticing the signal bars are now switched so that it more resembles the other phones (showing 3G signal strength instead of LTE). Also, the phone is A LOT snappier, especially in menus and the app drawer. It wasn't bad before, but I could definitely tell there was a slight stutter when scrolling through the widgets menu before. That's completely gone now, and it scrolls smooth as butter. Doesn't really make too much of a usability difference in the long run, but it's still good to see Google interested in working out little kinks like that to improve UI responsiveness.
Haven't had a chance to make calls yet, so that's yet to be seen, although I haven't had any of the audio issues everyone else is having.
Glad we finally got this.
My phone has cm9, so I'm not worried. My wife's phone is stock, unrooted, and she has not received the update. We are just north of Atlanta, Georgia.
I too was able to force the update by clearing data on "Google services framework" and then mashing the check now button like no tomorrow...
