Galaxy Nexus "Google Phone" - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Any thoughts on Verizon adding bloatware and blocking Google Wallet on the Galaxy Nexus?
Sent from my Wallet.

The two "bloatware" apps are actually useful.. and if google wallet is blocked by Verizon, why do I have to flash something to have it on mine when I'm on T-Mobile? It's not like it's pre loaded on GSM variants either..

Google Wallet disabled on GSM Nexus

Hey guys. I bought the unlocked Galaxy Nexus from the Google Play store. When I open Google Wallet, it says that I can't use it in my country or on my carrier. However, I live in the US (FL) and have no SIM card in my phone. What should I do? Is this normal?

Put a sim card in and try again

My SIM card arrives tomorrow. This only works if you have a SIM card in the phone?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
No. I'm just going out on a limb here and assume the sim will tell your phone where you are and let you access Google wallet.

I think Québec will be one of the last to accept Google wallet... Look at what they are doing with Skype in... Vive le Quebec!!!

Just picked up a used Rogers nexus yesterday, and the (apparently) latest version of 4.0.2 wouldn't let it install. Now running takju 4.1.1, and still won't install. Installed market enabler, and it did install, but frequently disappears from the app drawer. What is this junk...

Will Verizon ever allow Google Wallet back on their service?

Not sure if there's already a thread on this, but I've been wondering if anyone knows whether Verizon will ever allow customers to use Google wallet again? I bought the note 2 and I've used Google wallet on my nexus 7 and it works great! Would hope to be able to use it on the note 2. Thanks for any feedback.

I don't think they will... since they are now promoting their own wallet application, called ISIS.
At least you have an option, I'm with Sprint and we're stuck with NO wallet applications at all.

I just got Google Wallet working on my LG-E980. I'm running madmack's CM 10.2.
It's really simple. Go to the Google Play store and download "Market Helper" by JRummy Apps Inc. It's an addon for their "ROM Toolbox" app. There is nothing to run or do after install. Just go back to the google play store and download/install Google Wallet and it should work (did for me).
I downloaded it without that add on.

I believe the new update only allows us to transfer and receive funds via Google Wallet only. I attempted to make several transactions using Google Wallet without any success.

It is AT&T(and other carriers) plus the retailers blocking it, why do they block it, does not harm them.

I have a feeling it's because it doesn't support NFC Secure Element, that's why the new Nexus 7 2013 Tablet doesn't support NFC via Google Wallet-
7. What is the secure element?
While not all NFC applications require security, those that involve financial transactions or certain mobile marketing applications (e.g., coupons and loyalty) require a “secure element” within the phone to securely store applications and/or credentials (e.g., financial account numbers) and provide for secure execution of applications.
The secure element (secure memory and execution environment) is a dynamic environment in which application code and application data can be securely stored and administered and in which secure execution of applications occur. The element resides in highly secure crypto chips (usually a smart card chip). The element provides delimited memory for each application and other functions that can encrypt, decrypt, and sign the data packet.
The secure element could be implemented either by a separate secure smart card chip (currently implemented in most of the NFC-enabled mobile phone pilots), in the SIM/UICC (which is used by GSM mobile phone operators to authenticate subscribers on their networks and maintain personalized subscriber information and applications), or in an SD card that can be inserted in the mobile phone. The secure element implementation approach will be selected by the mobile operator implementing the service and/or by the payment service provider (for SD card implementations).
http://www.smartcardalliance.org/pages/publications-nfc-frequently-asked-questions#7
http://androidandme.com/2013/07/app...-nfc-secure-element-no-google-wallet-support/ New Nexus 7 lacks a secure element in it's NFC chip.

Mobile payments are still more of a novelty here in the US, until that changes not much will change on the mobile payments front. One big participant in the ISIS Mobile Wallet (what AT&T, T-Mobile and others are behind), Capital One just pulled out of ISIS, a big player leaving ISIS like that could kill it.
