I flashed caulk in 2.0.1 and the screen and colors seems a little washed out, is it just me? Is this normal with roms? I'm new to this.

OK, check this out. I rooted my Incredible, and I had problem after problem with rooting because of what I THOUGHT was an SLCD issue (I lost all function of my touch screen whenever I flashed a ROM or kernel, even if they were compatible with both screens). After 3 days I finally found a combination that worked.
My husband wanted me to root his phone, and I wanted to physically see the difference in speed between rooted and stock while doing a Web search. Well, when I put the two side by side while on Google, there was a blatantly obvious difference in the screen color. My screen had a pink tint and his was crispy white, to the point that it almost hurts the eye to stare at.
So, I downloaded the "mirror" app (which is just a black screen that shows your reflection) and yep, sure enough, I had a bit of brightness on mine, and his was just black as night.
Both of our phones had the 003 under hardware, which is suppose to mean the screen is SLCD, but mine is clearly AMOLED.
I am thinking, since they were both refurbs sent as replacements, that I got a phone that was originally produced with an SLCD screen but it got replaced with an AMOLED.
Could this be the reason that when I flashed a ROM I had no touch screen function? Could there have been an incompatibility issue between the original hardware and the replaced screen that got triggered by trying to flash a ROM?
This is kind of blowing my mind right now...
Interesting twist..
I'd think that just after rooting & first reboot to recovery of first (your?) DInc, whether or not you saw CWM would indicate screen type.
On the other hand, that variable is complicated by which Unrevoked version was used - SLCD had no recovery built into Unrevoked until recently.
Curious to know how this shakes out.
I may be mistaken but
AMOLED screens give a grayish hue not pink due to blacks being their true color, just like slcds true color is white so their blacks are gray
So that being his would be black as night due to it being Amoled and true blacks
While yours is slcd because its grayish
A better way to test is to find a vibrant picture to compare, and yes this is obvious
The phone that has a duller yet clearer picture is SLCD
The phone that has the.more vibrant picture is Amoled
And its to my understanding that if u mix up sense/aosp kernels the one function you lose is touch so maybe u mixed up the wrong kernel

I used unrevoked 3, which is suppose to be compatible with both... although I got lazy once and tried to flash a ROM through ROM manager. It prompted me to install clockwork, and I read that no issues were had doing that, so I did it... and of course I got the black screen /white lines. I had to update my recovery image through hboot. This tells me I have an slcd, which confuses me all the more... not unless I am confused, and my husband is the one with the amoled screen. Either way, it is strange because there is an obvious difference in screen appearance, but both hardware versions say 003.

That is what is so confusing. The white on my screen has a washed out /dirty appearance next to his, and yet his screen was black black and mine had a dark gray /purplish hue when looking at an all black screen.... yet I had the black screen /white lines when I "updated" clockwork. This plus the loss of screen function tells me for sure that I have slcd, but the display /colors tell a different story.
Like you said, amoled whites are washed out, and slcd blacks are grayish, yet my screen displays both properties.
I wish this was something I could capture properly on camera...

Hi, I have a Problem with Red Colour on my Gnex.
When I use Vodoo colour test patterns, When I switch to Red I have stripes int the red field. This only happens with Red color.
I never noticed that before, can be that this was there since i have this device (since release) or it is there since a few weeks.
Can somebody check if this is normal or if my device has a problem with display!?
I'm on Jelly bean already tried different kernels, also with color improvement. seems to be also with stock!
When I make a screenshot, and have a look on it on a normal PC screen, then the Red color is completely ok.
So iassume that something with my Gnex screen is wrong. Would be nice If somebody can give me feedback!
Are your stripes horizon all over the screen? Yes I have this too. They began at the top and spread down over the first month of usage. I think its normal for this phone.
---- moved, wrong forum, sorry------
Yes, they are horizon. But red is the only color where this happens, all other colors are without stripes.
Looking a little stupid in some apps licke kicker for example!
Anyone else experiencing theese problems?
I only would liekt to figure out if this is normal or if it is a defect!
I also have this issue, it happens in all colors but more obvious in red.its annoying as **** when you start noticing it.when i record videos its really obvious in dim light. Im just glad im not the only one.:/

I have also noticed this sh** , but my brother nexus does not have the same problem
any one knows why ?
My guess it's a side effect of the pentile matrix. AMOLED screens have a significantly lower life span than your traditional LCD screen and does degrade with time. This is also noticed in how the color balance gets very off with time (and does pretty dramatic changes over just the span of 1 month!), usually colors meant to be neutral looks very ugly green-tinted.
As for my screen? I noticed it in all the primary colors. Red was for sure had most visible "banding" but when I looked closely I noticed it as well in the green and blue as well (green being the least visible).
My Gnex is a year and a few months old as I've had it since February last year.
same thing happened to my screen in about 1_2 weeks when I got my phone. All colors were affected, but red is the most obvious. Pentile is ****

But why my brother's nexus is still ok ? although he bought his nexus before me ?
So are you saying that any pentile screen would face this ?

Do you really need someone to point out that not all screens are made equal? If it drives you to distraction, root and install Trinity Kernel or Franco's Kernel (which has Trinity's Contrast) they have a plethora of colour options.
I run a very icy-white colour on my Nexus.
Coming from a galaxy s2 which had pure blacks. If I looked at a black image in a pitch black room I almost could not tell it was on. Was very feint light output.
On my new note,
While having a beautiful display, given the same setup the blacks are not as black. The screen is brighter. Is that a defect?
Also noticed some areas weer a bit darker like blotches. For most uses this is not noticeable but when I read in the dark and use night mode along with a screen dining app to get it really dark, the background looks more dark brown then black

Coming from an S2 Skyrocket (LTE) which had horrible blacks and really bad splotches/blobs my note2 has much better blacks and no splotches that I've noticed and I have looked for them. I havent brought out the magnifying glass though..
My t-mobile Note 2 SGH-T889 has some screen color issues. I flashed it with a custom kitkat rom. But notice that the white color is little different, its like not bright white.
Not sure if this screen shot will captured it but the colors just don't look right. Is it because of the phone is getting old, it has a yellowish tint on it? Do I need to replace the screen or this is the rom issues?
I am using this custom rom

Any help will be great.
Thanks
Hi, I recently just got this phone and everything seems to work fine apart from the visible grid pattern I'm seeing on the screen, I know this has been brought up already but most people say they can only see this on white or lighter backgrounds, I only noticed it on white backgrounds myself at first but now I'm noticing it to a lesser extent on most solid colours, I cant see it on anything that has some sort of pattern or detail, just solid colours mostly, anyone else noticing it?
Mine has this pattern too but I only notice it if I'm really looking for it, and it's only visible on white and very light grey solid backgrounds.
