Hello ,I have updated my desire z and rooted but now I have to send it for repair to the service I have flashed 1,34 wwe rom and did all the steps for S-On and now I have a security on device but 2,42 wwe rom does not matches to my country CID code so I want to ask if is it possible to flash 2.42 stock rom on a Security OFF and Rooted phone directly or will this brick my phone ? I don't want SU or ect anymore ,just a stock rom all I need
so in other words, help you trick your carrier into thinking that you never rooted your phone?
yes please
Why do you need to upgrade, if your concern is warranty?
Its important to have the original CID & Simlock and firmware for warranty - i myself didn´t find the original vodafone firmware, so i flashed 1.34 wwe restored simlock, cid, s-on and original recovery and they didn´t even recognize that the phone was rooted (or they just didn´t care) ...

ohh reallly , I can flash 1.34 again and put S-On and original CID back and hope they do not recognize anything By the way I live in Turkey and do you too ? I wonder about the procedures for service repair , you said "vodafone firmware" my phone is vodafone too but Turkish Carrier ...
yes it worked for me... but maybe it was luck.
no im not from turkey - austria and i just looked into the german forums if there is a vodafone ruu now - but sorry there isn´t.
the procedure was like this: i took my phone to the carrier, told them what was broken (it was a hw problem) they had a quick look at it and then told me that i have to wait for 2 weeks... i got my phone back with a new vodafone firmware ...had to re-root again

Hi everyone,
I'm going to send my Desire HD to HTC to repair it.
I got a few question though:
I guess I need to flash device with their original rom and turn on the ENG and Radio, right?
Also the CID I probably need to restore it back.
My phone was originally branded with German Vodaphone, but I imported to Belgium.
Can I just flash WWE ROM and change the CID to the unbranded HTC Desire HD or do you recommend to change the CID to German Vodaphone and restore it with the original German Vodaphone rom with their bloatware?
I hope someone can help me
I'd suggest just returning to a WWE RUU. I'm guessing by checking your IMEI HTC can tell what your firmware was before.
I sent mine back with MIUI on it and they "repaired it" and flashed it back to 1.32 WWE.
Yes from what I heard HTC can check via IMEI what your FW should be.

My Desire HD overheated last night while charging.. I left my phone under my pillow when the alarm rang...and the alarm was ringing for a few hours(a few alarms) ....and when i woke up, my DHD was very hot...and then i quickly tried to cool it....i later tried to check whether everything was working and found out that everything except my phone ear piece isnt working(the thing which you listen to people talking during a call) i tried flashing a different rom, and it is still the same..
So now i want to return it to stock to send for warranty. I have a question how do i return to stock? I bought my phone without contract from an authorized distributor is Malaysia, Asia. As far as i learn from reading, there are a few stock RUU. I have the WWE RUU 1.32, but there is also an asian one..so which one do i need to get back to stock?
From one of the threads,
HTC WWE Stock RUUs - (World Wide English), for stock devices. These are RUUs to completely flash the device from the PC.
- If you are having trouble with them not connecting to your phone, try my guide here.

I didnt flash a radio before, but i remember S-OFF ing my DHD to get root. Please do help. My warranty has 1 more month period. January 8 my warranty is over. So please do help thanks.
Honestly, just get back to stock rom and perhaps unroot it will do. HTC workers in Malaysia arent that clever to check yr phone is S off or nt. they jz check the existance of superuser apps only

Ok, thanks. Argh, stock rom, as in the WWE RUU? Or do i need to go find the asian one? thats the thing actually bothers me.. Alright thanks alot...my phone decided to kill itself today. Gosh.
So
1. Return to stock ROM
2. Unroot
3. S-ON
That would do right?
Thanks Loads
Here is an extremely detailed guide by Yoshi_523 showing how to restore one's Desire HD back to Stock for warranty purposes. It's for Vodafone Australia but I figure you could do the same with your specific RUU. I wouldn't be too sure about the WWE RUU - if you got your phone unbranded then I guess go with the WWE RUU. Otherwise you might need a more specific branded one.
Hi all,
I live in Australia and I bough the One X from UK, online, the model ID wasJ46100 and Model name:S720e, but I returned it with a full refund because it has the flickering screen issue.
I bought another one from a local store in Melbourne, Australia (outright) it was very obvious that the new one has no flickering issue, but the model ID isJ46110 and model name:S720b!
From the firmware thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551581) I notice that they are talking about the MIDJ4610000 while my MID isJ4611000 and because I unlocked the bootloader before saving the CID now I'm getting "none" as CID, so I *think* that I won't be able to upgrade my firmware until the S-OFF
None of the RUU here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543604) works for me!
My questions:
Q1- Is there any way I can upgrade to 1.28 (or higher) without waiting for the S-OFF?
Q2- Is there any reason makes me return my PJ46110 and buy PJ46100? as I have 30-day return period.
Q3- How can I find the RUU that works for my device (any version)? Note: RUU extraction method didn't work
Q4- Is it OK to flash a custom ROM based on higher firmware than my device? For example: flashing ARHD 3.0.0 (which is 1.28-based on my 1.26 device) (This example works fine, but what about any future releases)
Note: I got the model ID from the back of the device, and model name from the box's cover, and MID from "fastboot getvar mid".
Out Of The Topic NOTE: I notice that there was FCC logo on the PJ46100 (UK model) but not in the PJ46110 (AU model)!!

A1 - You can't get OTA update without S-OFF even if you flash RUU because devices needs to have stock recovery and locked/re-locked bootloader. Also RUU is region dependent. So ANY RUU won't work until we have S-OFF.
A2 - IMO not a good idea to return the Aussie model and get the UK model unless you really have to and must get the OTA update.
A3 - I haven't seen any Optus or Vodafone RUU for Australia yet so you you will not get the 1.28 base via OTA until Optus or Vodafone releases them.
A4 - it is okay to flash custom ROM but you won't get any official updates until you bring your phone back to stock (stock recovery + re-locked bootloader and use RUU for your phone which is not out there yet if you have a Optus handset or Vodafone handset)
Having S-OFF we can make our device super CID which should work on any RUU once you have stock recovery and re-locked bootloader.

So as soon as we have the S-OFF my PJ46110 can be used exactly as PJ46100?
I asked because I have had very bad experience with Samsung Galaxy S II I9100G which does't accept the I9100 (without the G) ROMs, and I'm afraid that I'll face the same thing here

If it is OK to flash the custom ROMs without upgrading the firmware why the ROM developers always insist to upgrade the firmware before flashing?

Like I said with S-OFF we can get super CID which basically we can debrand our phones or convert our phones to use the RUU we want.
Devs say that so the phone won't have glitches like battery drain or lags. Basically if you use latest firmware means better performance.

I9100/i9100g is a different situation, they have different hardware inside and are effectively different phones.
I have the aus model too and am having no issues at all with custom rom (leedroid right now). The only major difference is that you wont get ota updates until optus / voda approve them. When we get super cid and soff you will be able to flash wwe ruu as soon as they are available.

Hi here again!!
You should explain your roggers -> Bell simlock problem too.
Maybe you could have some help here too!!!
Does direct flash of a shipped ROM (.exe) could work?
Witch one to choose in this case?
Can't tell if you're asking a question or not.
If a simlock is active, rooting the phone will remove the simlock.
RUU's are only for the DZ, not the G2 (unless you count the very latest G2 update, 2.16.531.6)
Flashing a RUU (the .exe) will flash whatever stock rom is contained in it onto your device, if the version numbers and model id's and cid's all match (if you're S-ON)
if you're S-OFF, any RUU should run on your device, but will remove any custom recovery and eng hboot.

Initially, my problem comes from the fact that I can't connect to the Bell network, with my phone to buy used, the guy who sale me told that is enlocked, he served under Rodgers before, however I have no message saying that my SIM is invalid when I insert my SIM or another of Telus. I have an X on the antenna, and only wifi works, I have manually configured the APN, replace the SIM, and spend hours to peel forum, Keno40 suggest me to Root, do my question we not sure that was the 1.34 work for1.31 build... excuse me if my text is a little low end, English is not my first language… If you have other idea to resolve my issue it will be great!

Thanks for the explanation , I try to found that how idoing that...
hello, please try to downgrade your rom.
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD are some good hints to downgrade the phone. after doing this you may like to root your phone. after rooting/ recovery install you may like to install a cusrom.
i followed these instructions to unlock my german dz.
greets
I bought an M8w in Beijing for my friend. The phone is now rooted, S-OFF'ed, Super CID and on ARHD. After flashing the ARHD ROM, it started to have some problems with the screen as you can see from the photos attached. I'm in Turkey and since M8w is not sold in Turkey, HTC doesn't give technical support -what a shame!. They asked us to flash the original ROM to be able to help us and somehow they are sure that the problem is ROM related!
So we have to revert CID, relock, S-ON and revert to stock ROM. ): Unfortunately we didn't get any backups or screenshots of the recovery/boot screen.
Where should I start?
No answer yet?
do you kno your old CID and rom version?
if not, opps, guess you will have to guess, there are threads on how to change your CID and stock roms links, take your pick which you feel is best.
