Hey guys, just trying to get everyone's opinion about which sense 3.5 ROM they use. Please no aosp, cm7, miui, or ICS talk. I have tried them all and sense is smooth, feature packed, and sexy as hell.
Ok, anyways, I have been running Newtoroot's Incredible 2 HD RLS1 for about a month, and it is flawless. I am an avid flasher and want to try Virtuous Affinity, but would like opinions about it before I wipe a month's worth of phone data. I loved virtuous on the OG Inc. and want to know if it is up to par with Newt's.
Thanks guys.
There is no meed to lose a month of data, just make a nandroid in cwm before you flash. If you don't like it, just restore your backup. I'm an aosp person myself so I don't have an opinion on sense roms. I've just noticed that some people are attracted to certain features, which makes if hard to suggest roms.

I'm on Virtuous Affinity right now .... not too much different IMO between it and Newt's Incredible HD 1.1 ROM, aside from a few tweaks and visual differences (i.e. EVDO instead of 3G). Both seem to get comparable battery life.
Currently using Rcmix Runny4.0. I like this 3.5 rom.
I've tired Newts version (incredible2hd), and really I don't care for all the added animations. Just not my thing. Not into the added Mik tab in the app drawer either. Remove those couple of things, and it would be really good. It's snappy, no complaints there.
I ran Affinity for a few days and really couldn't find anything to complain about with it. Good stuff. I just prefer Rcmix due to the transparent status bar tweak. I did like the fact that you could make Rosie transparent in Affinity though. If I could do the trans status bar with Affinity that would be my DD
I gave Runnydroid a try, and it wasn't bad at all. Just needs the Rcmix tweaks added, and it would be really good.
I plan on trying Nitsju's 3.5 bliss rom in the next few days as well.
Stability wise Virtuous is the way to go. if you want all the tweaks newts HD. Virtuous will eventually be the #1 sense 3.5 ROM.. Most already think it is. It's built to run better on our phones.
RCMix Runny 4.0 is definitely my favorite Sense 3.5 ROM.
Ok so virtuoso is the way to go, now being new to this how do I go about loading it onto my incredible2

-You can remove the animations with a zip
-You can remove the miktab by long pressing on it
-Affinity's lockscreen icons are small for some reason
-I agree about RunnyDroid
-Nitsuj's Bliss isn't as good as the others IMHO although I love his other ROMs

How do I load virtuos on my phone. And where do I find it?
Virtuosrom.com or dev section here.
To load it you need 3 chickens and a full moon to prepare for the installation ceremony.

Just had a Major League flashback here. lol.
Virtuous is the best one for performance and battery life. It just works.
Virtuous' Rom is the Affinity ROM in the development section.
Do not install SetCPU or any Daemons - let the Virtuous scripts do its magic.
Also, be on the lookout for the Magnolia 3.5 ROM by Steve - Its coming soon and he knows his stuff.
Wow, really? When I ran it, I used a custom kernel and andrev_oc. I'll try it out stock.
Nano Droid Backup?
You don't have to loose evrything when you change your ROM. Just install ROM manager, use it to flash clockwork mod recovery, and make a Nano Droid Back up so you can always revert back to your old ROMs.

Hey I have an Incredible, and recently rooted and used the skyrider 2.52 rom. Then Verizon came out with "official froyo" and i downgraded and did the OTA. Well I hate the OTA because it has so many "spam" programs... So i would like to re root.... well there are so many different roms to choose from. Can some one explain the differences between them or the pluses and negatives of them. I like sence, but with froyo the sence isn't as nice as of upgrade above the stock as it was in 2.1. I like the facebook picture to contact integration, but i really don't know if stock has that either. I would just like a rom that is fast, efficient, and not a bunch of extra "b.s." that kills my battery. Any advice or comments are greatly apprieciated.
Thanks you

Vanilla = Ruby or SkyRaider
Sense = Virtuous
I think SkyRaider vanilla still has some sense left (I'm on virtuous atm) but I don't think any ROM Ive listed doesn't have the ability to us FB pics as I think it is part of the facebook app (I could be wrong).
Ruby is VERY fast and the latest version has killed off all the bugs that bothered me, but I kind of missed sense in places and also some of the SkyRaider features.
Virtuous doesn't get as good of Quadrant scores as the other two (for me) but runs REALLY smooth and I took out all the stuff I hated about sense.
All preference, but this should probably go in the Q&A forum. There are a few other posts just like this one (mine included) so you could read opinions already posted.
Try out Virtuous or Redemption. There are some others that are vanilla - no sense - but you have to try them for yourself. Each of the ones I mentioned removed all the bloat.
With regards to battery, look at the battery calibration thread.
First root using unrevoked 3.2
I recommend skyraider vanilla, its fully functional and has all the good stuff from vanilla. The only real things that it has from sense is the keyboard and dialer. Which I think is an improvement until a fully working CM Rom is released.

Thank you for the replies, but i thought there was skyrider, with sence and skyrider vanilla (no sence) I like the sence, that is why i got the incredible instead od droid or droid x. But the new 2.2 is not good. thank you kappo9000 for your post. I used unrevoked 3.2 then used skyrider with sence (pre 3.0) and i liked it better than the new OTA. But I took a "stap in the dark" when i chose that. If this needs to move to a Q&A that is fine. I just downloaded and leard about roms here, so that is where i posted. I wish Verizon didn't bloatware our phones, it's like buying a new computer... pretty soon they will have a option to pay $50 and they will clean our phones before we get them.
Thanks again evberybody i will read this over for a few days then i will pick one. And as for the facebook thing, if i get it on any rom, then SWEET!

Pick up ROM Manager. It's the BEEEEEST way to test all the ROMs. My procedure is to go in and "Backup Current ROM" so I can name it how I like (today I backed up SkyRaider as 0908-SkyRaider3RC2 for instance) then just wipe my data and cache when I install a new one without backing up.
Then I'll play with the new ROM for a while, and, if I like it, I'll back that one up to either install a new ROM or go back to one of my others.
In effect, you can take a snapshot of a ROM/config and roll between all of them to find out which one you like better. You can do that for yours now and play with whatever you like. Be warned : with all the REALLY good ROMs in this forum, you will suck up an entire night or two just playing with them I just wish the guys I work with did such a pro job like they do.
I think there are a few ways to go:
Pure minimalistic AOSP builds - Ruby / IncredibleDoes
More tweakable AOSP builds - CM
Senseless - Redemption, Virtuous (if remove sense apks) and SR Vanilla
Sense- Redemption, Virtuous, SR Sense, Stock
PS Not so sure with Redemption and Virtuous, haven't tried them before.
I personally like the minimal style of Ruby / ID, but it's all about personal preference. These ROMs all are fantastic in their own way, so try them out!
Haha, and yes, I have spent (*ahem. Read: WASTED) entire nights tweaking / trying out just ONE ROM. xD
Anyway, happy ROM-hunting! Do let us know which you pick =]
one problem. Unrevoked 3.2 is gone, and i can't seem to root 2.2 so do i have to downgrade first? and if so what is the best way?
I too am new to this ROM installing business, but so far I think that I'm leaning towards Ruby. Seems light and will be a nice change from what I've been used to.
And about your rooting question kmcrane, it is probably best just to wait for the unrevoked team to finish up with v3.21 instead of going through a rough downgrade process. It probably will not take them too much longer anyway. (their twitter feed said earlier today that they were going to be putting out test builds soon)
OK well i went back to 2.1 rooted and installed.......... Virtuous 2.6! I think it is the closest to stock Incredible froyo that is very complete. I like the screen shots of SkyRaider Sence, but there are updates and bugs with that.. I will keep an eye on that one and maybe use the rom manager to back up, then try that one. I would like to thank everyone who replied on here to help me, and everyone that posted the endless amounts on posts on XDA forums. I have read so many "how to's" and everyone is just great! I wish we could all just go out for a beer sometime! HAHA Thanks all!
I'd recommend SkyRaider Sense any day!.. Sky Raider has put in a lot of effort into making this aesthetically pleasing and stable. With virtuous, you are as good as installing the official ota..
If you want to have the benefit of sense, with a few modifications to sense.. go with skyraider.

I 2nd these choices but haven't tried Ruby. SkyRaider was the first Rom I tried and I've on n have used virtuous the longest so far and love it. I've also tried CM, Frankenrom, and Fourth Wave but it errored on install and the forums say something about upgrading hboot which I won't do so I deleted it.

Redemption has new 2.0 and it looks like you can add mods to change it up... if i back up my v 2.6 and try a different rom, do i reinstall all my apps? Can i use app brain to help with that? Cause i have 50+ apps. I would like a stock-like rom and maybe one totally different... also what does Vanilla mean? I see sence, stock, and vanilla..... what is the differences and advantages of each?

Here's what I understand and someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Sense is the ROM with SenseUI code (extra coding that makes the HTC's so neat compared to Moto)
Stock is pretty much just as it was when you bought it. (original ROM installed by manufacturer)
Vanilla is pretty much the Android OS running on a particular phone without the extra coding (like on the Sense)
Many of the ROM's have both a sense and a vanilla version so if you like Sense and it's widgets etc. you can get that one and if you want to customize the most you can get the vanilla.
Virtuous is an awesome ROM. Skyraider has both sense and vanilla avail. Ruby is just vanilla and also Cyanogen if I'm not mistaken.
Hope this helps some!
I upgraded to Virtuous 2.7 and it is cool. I guess with all the modding and roms, i have gotten bit by the customize bug. Virtuous ROM was fine, but pretty much the same as the stock (except a few small things in 2.7) I think i want something different and fresh. Circle Battery looks cool. maybe something where i can customize the bottom buttons (phone, all apps, and add to home) it would be nice to change those. The main thing is i don't want crap unwanted software, (city id, amazon mp3, etc...) Thanks again for all the help and input,
Oh kmcrane, SkyRaider vanilla latest release showed up on ROM manager a few hours ago!
I've been using the new Virtuous 2.7 with the battery saving kernel and really liking it. Basically, it's like a stock froyo with some liposuction and a bit of plastic surgery--crapware all gone, some very nice SmoothSense modifications, and rock solid (no crashes or FCs). With the alternative kernel, you can add SetCPU and customize settings to maximize battery life.

i just wanted some input on a few roms......currently i am running incrom 1.6 but i have cyanogenmod7, warm z twopointtwo, redemption rom 2.4 and skyraider 4.0 all installed on my sd card and i flip back and forth between all of them and can't seem to decide on which to stay with. any input on which you would choose and why would be greatly appreciated!!!!
thanks
Depends. If you like the look and feel of AOSP, go look at OMGB. It's stock Gingerbread. If you like AOSP but want more customization, CM7 or OMFGB. They are both AOSP Gingerbread but both have their own sets of customization options. On the other hand, if you like Sense UI, the Stock Sense 2.0 ROM is good for a good stock look, and it has Sense 2.0 instead of 1.0. If you like themes and mods, Warm Z is becoming good at that, with add-ons that you can flash to change the look. SkyRaider 4.0 is the best Sense ROM that has a ton of customization built in. If you want MODs on the fly with Sense, SR4 is for you. All the other ones based off stock Incredible Sense 1.0 framework are good, but if you are looking more for speed, the Sense 2.0 ones are the best at that. I run CM7 because I like customization and AOSP Gingerbread. I run invisiblek's kernel usually because they play the best with my phone and battery. I'm also trying out the HAVS MOD right now, but I wouldn't unless you know what you're doing. Hope this helped. I'll post the links to all the ROMs I mentioned below.
SkyRaider 4.0 by ihtfp69
Warm Z by incubus26jc
Stock Sense 2.0 by incubus26jc
CM7 by the CyanogenMod team
OMGB by r2DoesInc
OMFGB by r2DoesInc
I personally have an affinity for I CM7 . I more or less was doing what you are describing except with ROMS, Kernels, and Radios all at the same time ( damn new bricked my phone on a few lol ) . So far CM7 has been the most stable for me and has been the most "friendly" to use. However, what you are asking is hard to answer. It's like "What is my favorite food?" . You know that better than we will . In the end, just pick something that has everything you need and just leave it alone lol
AOSP roms: CM7, OM(F)GB, Salvage Mod. I love CM7, and Salvage looks promising too. Never really used OM(F)GB
Sense: Skyraider 4 suits me best, but I like Warm Z and Incredibly Re-Engineered (Z and Evo) too.
OMGB 112
I've flashed numerous roms, but have found that
OMGB 112 revolutionized my Incredible. With Chad's kernel,
it gets decent battery life and is fast fast fast. No issues
of any kind. If you're tired of the stock look, backup your
stuff and then flash OMGB. Use Clockwork 3008 and wipe
everything twice. After it boots up, power down and do a factory
re-set in Recovery. Now your Incredible is Really Incredible.
I like CM7 (nightlies) and IncRom, personally. CM7 has such a great community, and I found myself using adw launcher with sense, so I actually prefer the look of it to sense (I hate that you are stucj with 7 screens. I like to run 2-3, depending on my setup). The only downside is no 720 video, which is why I have a nandroid of incrom. In addition, IncRom has the most appealing and finished looking theme of any ROM I have tried.
Hey everyone!
I'll be honest; my phone has been running sprint lovers rom since late december last year and it works great. Since then, I haven't really looked at the scene or any developments (same with android). However, I started getting prompted about the OTA update, so I figure its time to look at a new custom ROM. Sadly sprint lovers no longer appears to be updated - I liked it because everything just worked.
I have the following requirements: All phone features need to work.
So, I found the AllianceROM, from what I can tell everything works with the rom. Are there any other roms I may want to look at? Will my nand unlock and root work? Most of the rom installers say to run the latest version of autoroot - is that really necessary?
Thanks everyone, I appreciate your input!!

Hello there, friend.
The previous posts have everything pretty much nailed down... but there's a few thinks I have to add.
As a Newbie that I am, I have been flashing nonstop, trying many roms.
Basically and on a quick run-down of what I remember right now..:
If you want your phone to look Apple-ish, try MIUI. not everything works, or you have to jump through hoops to get it to work. Personally, not my cup of tea, but it's light (sizewise) and quick. Too many bugs, tho.
Cyanogen is the standard AOSP (Open Source) ROM. I didn't like it that much. With it, I found I am a Sense guy. Still a little buggy but 4G works (a big downfall in many AOSP ROMS).
Virus' Kingdom REVOlution is a great Sense 3.0 ROM. MY pet peeves with it are: Browser force closes (FC) and no spanish dictionary for touch input. I am bi-lingual so I NEED this. This ROM has a carrousel (sp) home window and it REALLY LOOKS NICE. It's a battery hog, but you will get that with sense 3.0 roms and 2.1 with 3.0 elements pushed into it. It's the price you pay for nice eye-candy. If you get this ROM, make sure you partition your card as directed in one of their thousands of posts. Search will do you well here. This is because the ROM occupies a lot of space in your phone and as you install apps, you will eventually be left with very low memory for your other tasks.
Mik's ROMS are very solid, but I simply don't like the way they look. Truth is, I can't be simpler than this. If you make a ROM, make it look nice. The idea behind rooting, for many, is to be able to use the hotspot capabilities, but for many of us, looks also matter. Sometimes, a LOT.
Myn's ROMS, I define with just a simple phrase: ROCK SOLID.
* Warm Z is awesome. Landscape support for main screen, polished beautiful looks and great battery life make this a keeper... if you don't care about having 4G. Since this ROM is based off the Desire HD, it has no 4G support.
* Warm 2.2 is the most solid of them all. Everything works. Towards the end, I ran my battery close to 24 hrs with this mod and the Netarchy 4.3.4 (HAVS, aggressive yaddah plus whatever, I can't remember now) and had NO ISSUES AT ALL. It was a daily for more than 2 months. With some mods that Myn lists in that same page you can make it look even nicer.
STEEL ROMS are basically stock roms that have been tweaked to WORK, and that, they do, and they do it very well. As with these kinds of ROMS, expect heavy files (anywhere from 250 - 300 MB and maybe more).
I hope this has helped you a bit, friend. Happy wiping!
yeah and viperboys scripts are badass battery life savers
Here is the link to a ROM with sprintlover's base :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118063
Try Vaelpak's GB ROM: http://vaelek.com/index.php?/forum/47-vaelpak-gingerbread-aosp/?. I recently jumped into MIUI, and its very stable, contrary to what someone else said. CM7 may be the "standard," but Deck and Vaelpak are very good AOSP ROMs. Kernel-wise (for AOSP), I love the sz kernel and viperboy's uv scripts are great.
Basically I'd like to be persuaded as to whether to use a sense rom (e.g ARHD) or a nosense rom (e.g CM7). And if I use CM7 can I install the HTC dialer and messaging app?
--
Previously I was using ARHD (sense) and go launcher, and I've just updated to the new ARHD with sense 3. As much as I like it, it's not quite as minimalist as I liked with go launcher and my battery life is not as good (sense is a battery hod, no denying).
I'm tempted to go the other way; CM7 with no sense features. What are the advantages of this? Why do some people prefer no sense?
Can I install the sense APKs of the apps I like? The htc dialer is great, as is the messaging/
I can't answer all your questions however I recently went from RCMix3d 1.4 runny to CM7 and I'm loving the change. The battery life is excellent and it makes me wonder why I was using sense in the first place.
I don't even miss it that much, apart from the odd thing. I'll take longer battery life over flashy show off animations any day

No, the HTC apps won't run without the Sense framework.
Beyond that, I'm not going to persuade you with way; the only way to decide is to backup, flash cm7 and see which one you prefer.

I suggest giving MIUI a try. It is basedd om CM7,has great features and is very easy to customise!
Definately take a look at MIUI as well Its an AOSP rom like CM7 but with some very nice additions. If you like to try out different themes and lots of personalization options MIUI is definately the way to go.
But in the end both ways (sense or no sense) have their advantages. What i dont like about sense is that its so bloated up with stuff you rarely ever use. You can cleane some of it with scripts like rom cleaner but still we're talking 350mb rom (sense) vs 80-90mb rom (CM7 or MIUI).
On the other hand with sense you get one good looking theme and good to very good apps for all the features of your phone. On CM7 you might need to find another app to play music via DLNA for example and another app for weather and so on.
sense and see how you feel if you dont like then go for no sense .....simple really
im with sense atm and feel that it is good
you could try the better of both worlds by flashing DeDense from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207645
Try Helios 0913 for a CM7 rom if you're gonna try one. It'll make you not wanna go back. These forums are crowded with sense roms that look exactly the same and offer nothing different, except some visual stuff, than the other 20 or so sense roms that are here. A good AOSP rom is hard to find on HTC phones now. Like I said though, try Helios or better yet, Hydrogenmod and you'll forget all about sense.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I love Helios too but, more broadly, I went the way of CM7-based ROMs in general + Lord Clockan's amazing kernels and never looked back.
I never enjoyed such a snappy and responsive device when I was on Sense-based ROMs. Ditto battery life. I'm a massive CyanogenMod fanboy now, and will be flashing Nightlies (which are in a very good condition ATM) until Richfish updates Helios.
People on Sense ROMs have good things to report too, though, so my suggestion (which you've probably already heard a million times) is to try stuff out for yourself.
No one will be able to tell you what you would prefer. Test out a CM rom and a sense rom. Make your own mind up.

I like the current stock ROM that comes with the phone when you buy it Android 2.3.3 HTC Sense on the HTC Incredible 2 as it runs smooth and all. But I was wondering if there was a ROM that is the same as the stock ROM, but without that annoying location icon on the top. And added more stuff into the quick settings, and fixed the alarm clock issue were the phone freezes the clock app by it self.

If we are going to start mention a good stock rom,we are not going to finish jajaja.i am using Magnolia 2.0 and is awesome but the best way to know wish one is better is try a different rom and then you deside.

Magnolia isn't stock.
Stock? Sabotage is close and a damn good ROM.
I"m assuming he wants to stick with a rom that has a sense 2.1 base such as skyraider or twisted. Magnolia is nice and all, but sense 3.5 isnt everyone's cup of tea, and it can be a bit laggy at times (every 3.5 rom ive tried has had some wierd issue).
As mentioned before, Skyraider Zeus is my fallback for a stock feeling rom. It's got some sense 3.0 features, which would feel like an upgrade to you, but it's still fast, stable and setup on the 2.1 base, where everything works...just better
Just got Zeus, love the ROM except I don't like the notification bar that much, any way to change it to look like stock Sense 2.1? And I think the battery is dying faster with this ROM not sure though...
Try Nitsuj's Gingerbangsense. Great rom, pretty stock and he has a good 3.0 patch to put on top if you want some of those features
