Is modding the splash screen possible for this phone?
I came from the OG EVO and I made an awesome splash screen for it. Curious to know if it can be done for the E4GT...

Yes.
I mistook your meaning, see eao1991's response below.
If you did mean splash screen and not boot animation, here's a link for it

Mandado from my E4GT
Awesome, thanks! Bootscreens are easy, I did mean splash. Appears a bit harder than the EVO days but glad its doable!!

Has this happened to anyone? I get a blue haze if I scroll all the way to the left or right when i'm surfing the net. On the edge of the screen.

Lol that's normal for Android 2.3

That's the overspill effect. We will eventually be able to take it off on the custom ROMs.

i actually like it
that way you know there's more stuff hidden over there
lol. I actually hate it with a burning passion. And only cause of the color... I swear touch wiz should be called parrot wiz instead.
Ahh k I thought I had a defective phone. Thanks for the info.

It's definitely a touchwiz thing because I didn't have it on my Nexus S. I absolutely hate it also.

It was orange on the nexus ss

Not all 2.3 devices have it, though. Other Galaxy S2's don't.
As I've heard, Google added it into the Nexus line because Apple has a patent on overscroll bounce on list scrolling.

1+ I really wish I knew a way to get rid of it. I want the bounce effect just top and bottom of pages.

Anybody notice that the boot animation looks pretty washed out and seems to be designed for an LCD? The blacks aren't even black...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Yeah the bootanimation is kinda poor, if you're rooted you can follow the instructions in this thread and make it optimized for the Nexus.
Sweet! Thanks. I'll do root and push this as soon as I get back home from Holiday. Haven't even activated yet, I'm still on wifi only!
Glad to know that they were just sloppy and that this animation can be much better. When it first booted I thought, did I get an LCD version of Nexus!?

Has anyone seen John Connor?
Going to try and fool a bunch of people just for sh!ts and giggles. Running MIUI and want a iPhone boot animation so I can take the Nexus to some of the bars here and trick some silly iPhone users (mainly girls) into thinking that I have an iPhone 5 or 6 prototype. Changed the battery cover to have an Apple logo on it. Also, does anyone know if it's possible to change that "pre-bootanimation" logo with Google and the little lock at the bottom?
Thanks
I'm not even gonna say it.

Meh props to him. Seems desperate though

You might actually have better luck just asking them straight up if they'll sleep with you. Seriously.
I think this may be the most horrible thing I have ever seen posted on XDA...

To answer your question, yes you can change that Google image, it is called the splash screen and is done through the bootloader.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
What's the pre-bootanimation on a iPhone? Is it that white screen? Also, I think you have to modify RLE files(or something like that).

I'd probably just want to make it completely black or have the Apple logo like on the iPhone bootanimation. I was able to get the bootanimation so mostly everything is in order. MIUI for the Nexus is so very much in Alpha that a lot of stuff still doesn't look right but I've managed to make it look 85% like an iPhone. It would probably work now but I'm a perfectionist so I'll probably work on it for a few more days or so. Probably until I realize that I'm no longer interested.
Wow, a Galaxy Nexus owner who wants an iPhone boot animation has some serious identity issues. Perhaps you need to set a reminder to talk to your therapist?
LOL you guys are ridiculous. Isn't the reason we all got a nexus so we can customize it the way we (each INDIVIDUAL) wanted to?

Exactly! Completely opposite of an iPhone.

It's only for fun to see if I can trick a few people. You can see how bored I am.

I reckon it would be a good experiment to show them how awesome the phone is. Then when they are in love with it (like we are) tell them what it is and see the reaction.

I was actually planning on that if I were to run into someone who was obsessed with Apple lol

Too bad he can't ask Siri to set that reminder for him.

Slight hiccup in the OP's plan haha

EDIT: You'll have to get in and change the Flash image (the white on black Google that appears as soon as it's powered on) then just get a dev (I might actually do it, with the pin wheel and everything) to post one and you'll be sweet - getting all the Atlantic (is that what you call them?) girls thinking you've got your hands on the newest iPhone prototype.
If that works, while you're there, also tell her that it needs to sit across the other side of the bedroom in landscape mode with the flash light on to charge - also to ignore the noises that sound like the camera re-focusing
Pathetic. Can't use any other word for this.

Have to send my gn2 for a cracked screen. Prefer to keep my info and phone from prying eyes. How do I lock it down. Since its just the screen do they need access and if it lock will they not repair?

Ya could try and hope they don't ask for the code or anything. I don't see why they would though for a screen repair
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I most definitely would backup my data and flash a stock rom. You want them to verify everything works on the new screen before they ship it back to you

informal question to original poster. How exactly did the screen crack and what type of case were you using if any? Not bashing you if you weren't using a case just kind of interested
BACK UP YOUR DATA
I had a screen crack on my Galaxy Tab 10.1. Sent it to them locked down, and it came back with a factory flashed image. I assume they need to do testing on it.

ok guys thanks for the replies. I am just going to wipe it and throw a basic rom on there.
...who loves the animation of the old CRT tv shutdown effect when your enter sleep mode/hit power button? I dont know why, but I look forward to it. Its a neat touch. Just wish it would do the same when you power it on.
I want it on my first gen

Many custom ROMS have that feature.
It's not a new thing, my old moto defy has this feature from circa 2011. It is neat looking though.
I really like this animation.
It was introduced in Gingerbread on the Nexus S and Nexus One, and carried over to 4.0+. I'm so used to it now that I forget that other people might not have seen it before. I once read someone complaining that he thought something was wrong with his screen (on a Galaxy Nexus, I think), not realizing it's just an effect
I didn't realize the first Nexus 7 didn't do this, but I'm glad to hear the new one does. I think I'd be disappointed when mine shows up if it didn't...
Nah, you aren't the only one
When I see unrooted phones without that animation, I get really really uncomfortable.
Yep,I'm diggin it too.
