get the better battery stats app and see what's causing your phone to stay awake. Something is causing it to stay awake because your awake time is high even with the screen off. You can also get system panel and monitor it over a few days and see what's causing it. There is definitely an app or process going on that's not allowing the phone to sleep even with the screen off

Also, don't forget to uncheck "use wireless network" in the location menu in the settings. It is a huge battery drainer

What ROM and Modem are you on?

You definately have to give us details on your setup because something isn't right. The way those dips are so uniform suggests that something is happening at the same time repeatedly. Here is mine from last night. The hours are similar and I was on Wifi as well and less than 1 hour of screen on time. I have use wireless networks checked and sync on

Lol..ok. I deleted Social Hub and the Facebook and Twitter tied to it, Maps, and the Sprint bloat. I installed the inverted Twitter and Facebook instead. Maps I just install if I need it. I am using stock email (2 accounts) set to sync at an hour. Like I posted earlier, I don't have sync turned off. I still have the Network Location on as well. Really that's it. The last 2 should work against me but they havent been so I keep them on. The battery drain on Wifi is really low on this phone especially when not in use so I always leave that on at home.

Well, its subjective but with these SAMOLED screens the more black you have, the better. I also turn off auto brightness because you can manually adjust brightness with it off by holding your finger on the status bar and sliding it left or right. I keep that low unless I need it. I will post a link to those inverted apps. There is a nice black Dropbox and Dolphin Mini browser as well.

Honestly, I got my phone on launch day and messed with the 2 finger zoom in and out and I don't think I have used it 5 times since. I use Opera and Dolphin Mini all of the time. So if you use your task manager to kill everything it is automatically loading processes? This could be a reason why there is such a wide span of battery marks. If you can, try to get some screenshots of the processes that are running. What is your setup? I check my task manager regularly and Widget Locker is the only thing running ....but I want it to be.

Do a search on the play store for wakelock apps. This should show you what is keeping your phone from deep sleep. More than likely it's something like social media that wants to be on ALL the time.

i emailed to kik's support, i can't really uninstall it as i use it on daily basis and sip integration is part of android os, so that can't be uninstalled either (but can be disabled) i'm kind of surprised it was trying to connect to sip as I thought this only works when phone is on wifi and not on mobile network...
Finally Found Battery Drain Fix
Note 2 (i317 unlocked using T-Mobile)
IOAP ROM v3.59
Latest AGNI Kernel (2.7?)
Philz Touch CWM
I switch ROMs between the IOAP and Ditto Note 3 (also w/AGNI) as my dailies. I get great battery life w/Ditto Note 3 ROM. However, on IOAP I was getting about 6-7 hours and draining fast overnight. I checked everything and GSam showed "Android OS" as the main culprit. I changed a setting to Location>Mode>Device Only. It was on "High Accuracy". Once I changed this, battery life was back to the same levels as DN3 ROM.

THe difference between sprint version and AT&T should really be the LTE radio that is about it. they have Wifi on all the time so their radio is mostly standby. mine does the same too. I can not believe - with the same apps - how can Sprint version (2 of them) get twice as much batter as mine !
we all bought the phone the same weekend. I even have AT&T and most samsung services Disabled. Looking at the wakelocks - there is something insanely wrong with way GOogle implemented for AT&T vs Sprint. I guess AT&T version is hogging much more esp with JB
by the way, the same comparison exists for IDLE scenario (bed time)

I agree. but not using google now and location services somehoe defeats JB purpose (apart from project butter
the thing that is puzzling is why Sprint implementation with same or even more options has twie as battery life
i have yet to come across any customization of wakelocks. Does anyone know if we can control these insanely frequent wakelocks? i know there is backitude - but that did nothelp either ;0(

Actually has nothing to do with AT&T vs Sprint phones. Although, if your phone isn't debloated, then yes, it will impact.
But like I mentioned, 2 identical S3 is impossible. The best example to this, one will handle OC/UV and the other won't (that being 1 example outta 100s). Which also makes it that 2 S3 side by side running the exact same thing with the exact same apps and settings will give different stats.

you should have mentioned this at the beginning. a lot of device issues arise after this firmware update. not that this is a guaranteed fix, but i'd wipe the phone. my wife's s3 began having gps, wifi and other issues after the update. boot into the stock revovery to wipe data and cache. of course this will reset the phone but i'd rather take 30 minutes to restore backups/reinstall apps than deal with update bugs for days on end. my wife hasnt had any problems since i reset it. actually, i went a step further by wiping data/cache, flashing the latest firmware via odin and wiping data/cache again in stock recovery. boom...

My wife has stock ROM. All I did was load custom recovery (CWM). When she had an issue like this earlier, I cleared dalvik, and it resolved the issue.

In maps, you can go into settings/locations, and uncheck all that stuff that lets google monitor your location while you're phone sleeps, this resolved my maps wake lock issue, not sure about the SMS one.

Tap the little orange icon to the right. It will take you to the browser and explain what power manager is. It's likely due to push notifications. You can check what's doing this under partial wakelocks.

BBS doesn't consume much battery at all compared to others, unless of course if you have the app actively monitoring but the option should be Unchecked by default.
Also, as the page to the link states, in order to resolve any of the wakelocks causing the PowerManagerService issue you must "Use "Partial Wakelocks" to drill down the applications / services causing wakelocks".

Kernel wakelock mdm_hsic_pm0

So I've been having this kernel wakelock for a while already AND it's been happening even after getting a new note 2 from T-Mobile (using warranty).
Basically I think I narrowed it down to it happening whenever I receive a new notification (missed call or new text) and I don't check it back right away.
This causes the wakelock mdm_hsic_pm0 to keep my phone awake UNTIL I do a battery pull.
Now, this wakelock sometimes also appears randomly, so I'm not exactly sure that the notifications keeping it awake is the only trigger. I am on stock 4.3 but it was also happening on 4.1.2 on 2 different phones. This could also mean one of my apps may be triggering it, but I would like to rule out other stuff before I do a hard reset
Does anyone have any other suggestions? I ordered an extended battery but I would like that to be my last resort.
Thank you in advance.

I got that on my Note 2 too. As you already knew, it was totally unpredictable. One day I got a few minutes out of a few hours of total time. Other days it kept my phone fully awake. I searched and read and asked and nobody seemed to know...
I got an extended battery (6200 mA) and forget about it...
I have (had) similar problem that my note stayed awake all the time. My solution is to manually shut down some apps what I don't use but they run in background like whats up, facebook, blink and more. On top of that a manually shut down all google services, samsung push, and more. I noticed that most of those services are automatically reloaded but note2 can go into deep sleep. Another thing I noticed that maxton browser once is used, keep my note awake even after shutting it down via application manager and I need to reboot my phone to preserve battery.

I have gotten this wakelock on the last phone I had (skyrocket) as well as my current Note 2 when using most custom roms. It appears to most often be caused by running gentle alarm on my phone all night while the phone is charging. I would check it an hour or two after unplugging to see if the wakelock was there (with BBS), and if it was, I would reboot, which always fixed it. I am currently using the Skynote Air rom for AT&T (a touchwiz rom) and have not experienced it.
Well it's been a month now and I still have the wakelock. I do have a 6200mah battery now but my OCD still makes me check for it and if I see it I will do a system reboot just to get rid of it for a few hours.
I really don't want to have to resort to rooting especially since I don't know if it voids warranty or whatever. I haven't been into the modding scene since I got my note.
Hopefully someone else can chime in. This sucks

Hi!
I had the same issue on DN3 ROM and Devil Kernel 2.3.2 but I found my own solution:
1. Download the newest modem for my device (Vodafone N7105BUUEMK2)
2. Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
3. Flash new modem
4. WiFi extended settings, switch to never at standby
5. Disable Google to use Wifi to locate position while Wifi is off
After that, phone is sleeping like a baby!

Hi I remember you provided me with a list of modems for s3 LTE.. Those modems were based on regions.. Should I flash the one for my region or any latest ones?
I remember I had the no imei issue while trying to flash a rom and had to fix that by flashing some modem.. I guess after that I am having this issue.

I've come to the conclusion that it is related to Google services. Sometimes my phone will run at 200Mhz and not deep sleep. I checked BBM and no wakelock present... I changed kernels and same problem. I changed to aosp rom and still had the issue. This is related to Google services on this phone... I'm just going to wait it out until the LG g2 pro comes out... I have that same annoying one. Battery Is just dying like crazy

So switching roms won't help? I like TW since I have the gear, but battery life is horrid. Sometimes I have to just pull my battery out for a temporary fix after unplugging from the charger. So annoying.
This happened to me when I flashed 4.3 through Odin and then flash Jedi Master x2. Battery was draining 15-20% per hour.
I decided to downgrade back to 4.1.2 following Zephr5 instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2566303 by flashing stock 4.1.2 through Odin. My battery life is back to normal now. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your test. I followed your steps and it solved the drain. However, when I need to use Google maps it takes a while before the phone detects your location with allowing only the GPS to access your location. Though this is the only solution to avoid the drain unless you want to restart it every time you see the drain appear and have ocd like me to check BBS and wake lock detector to make sure the phone is in deep sleep.

Wait, what did you do to solve this wakelock problem? I have the same problem... If you uncheck use wireless networks then Google now doesn't work for location based cards.

Screenshots are pretty much worthless.
Install BBS, charge it fully, and let it sit overnight, then export a BBS dump as txt (use the share option in the app) as an attachment to this thread...someone will likely try and help you.
Thanks this is the dumb file from bbs

Looks like the majority of your issues are from GPS requests, I'd try and disable GPS and see if that helps your battery drain...the other next culprit is syncing, you should go into your google accounts and disable the syncs you don't need, like currents etc, along with other apps that want to sync...either disable or set the frequency to be less often...there are other suggestions but chances are you would not want to lose their functionality...you could try and greenify those things (such as viber).

Thanks I finally found the issue.
Now with an hour with on screen time and 14 hour of stand by and my battery is 87%. That's awesome.
If someone is interesting the issue was with the super user app.
It was consuming a lot of the cpu due to the adaway app.
Adaway deleted and the problem is gone.
