htc evo 4g
Bought from ebay " used " stuck in bootloop.
booted to hboot
ran stock ruu
failed with a radiov2 something or other, partition failure,
went thru recovery process as instructed by ruu, got back to the screen with hboot an all that, then the unthinkable... dog scared cat, cat ran across desk, knocked phone off, battery ejected.
Phone WILL NOT power on, WILL NOT register the charger being plugged into it. No light..nothing.
Lost cause?

Tried it a few times., nothing. Gonna try it a few more, also found another variation with putting battery in, holding down VOL + and - an inserting usb cable " connected to computer ". that also did not work. Frustrated as hell! ugh!
One other note..The phone is " NOT rooted ". Greatly narrows options once booted, but it is what it is.
No one else has any ideas? shame to let this device go for 50 or so bucks for parts. any ideas at all ?

If it won't turn on and it doesn't charge I consider it bricked

If the battery came out during a radio update or something, then yeah... it's toast.

the battery came out after an ruu had failed. while the phone was sitting idle on I believe the fastboot or hboot screen.

First off let me just say, I already know this is most likely a full brick with no chance of recovery.
Anyway, when my sister got a G2 a while back I perm-rooted and s-off'd it for her. I later flashed the CM 6 RC and that's what she's been on this whole time.
Apparently her new boyfriend is "tech savvy" and has the same phone, so he asked if she wanted to be updated to CM 7 and gave it a shot without letting me know first.
He bricked it, I'm almost certain of it. He said he tried to update it to the newest radio via adb and got an error saying something like "memory is full" or "cant write, no more space" or something like that. He then turned it off so he could "try again", but from then on it wouldn't turn on anymore -__-
I know that a bad radio flash leads to a brick so I'm guessing there's nothing i can do for her, but I've never bricked any of my devices so i thought i'd ask to be sure. As of right now, when i press the power button the screen stays off. No images, no lights, no nothing. I've tried holding the power button + volume down/up and nothing. It simply does nothing. The charging light still turns on if i plug it into the wall charger but nothing happens when i connect it to a computer.
Is there anything I can do to help her besides telling her to get a new one?
Sounds like a brick to me, did he try flashing the ENG. Hboot ? If he screwed something up while doing this the result would be exactly what you are describing.

have you tried pulling the battery then re-seating it and booting into recovery?
Also take out battery and hold power as you put battery back in. Worth a shot

My LEDs don't even lit up when I plug it into the wall charger. Into the PC neither. I do get a hardware detected notification though, but Windows 7 isn't able to find the correct driver (for a what's apparently called QHSUSB_DLOAD). I have all HTC and Android drivers installed since I have the Android SDK and HTC Sync+drivers installed.

I bought a phone as a brick, it was stuck in bootloader mode with a err:etc....
So I had it plugged into my computer used RSD which did recognize it and flashed the 2.23.32 recovery only file and that said successful. but still was stuck in boatloader I was gonna try to flash something else to it and while it was still plugged into my computer and on the bootloader screen it just went blank but the green charge light stayed on, now I have nothing, it wont come up, pc wont recognize it, but it will have the green charge light lit when plugged in.
I'm guessing screwed, anyone know something I don't lol?

What file did you flash exactly? Im not familiar with what you referenced. Also, what do you mean by RSD? Did you mean RUU? So right now you have an led light when its plugged in, bit nothing else.? What happens when you pull the battery, then.out it back and hold power and volume down. Does it get to the bootloader or no?

I used a program called rsdlite_4.8 and flashed a file called SHADO_X6_2.3.32_RECOVERY-ONLY.sbf
but it still wasnt until later when the phone screen just went blank.
I pulled the battery, and the key combo did nothing. I was getting a really faint quick blue light from the led when I tried to power it on while not plugged in, but now not even that.
Well it just finally woke back up but says battery low cannnot program on the bootloader screen, so I'm pretty sure the battery is dead now. So once I get the battery issue sorted, I'm back to trying to figure out how to fix it lol

I have never heard of that program, or file. Nor have I ever noticed it being mentioned on here. Are you sure those were for the Evo? Do you happen to have a link to that file and program you used, so I can look at it? Im going to go out on a limb here, and guess.that you accidentally flashed a file that wasn't for the Evo, unless I've just never heard of that file before, then I apologize.
Are you sure the battery is good?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
So I just did some Googling...about the program you used, and file that you flashed.....and now I just wanted to make sure that the phone you're working on is indeed an Evo, right? Reason I ask, is because every single bit of info I found on that program and that file, indicated that it was for the Droid X or Droid 2. Nothing anywhere mentions anything at all about using that on an Evo. I don't even think and .sbf file can be used on the evo, as far as I know. At least I've never heard of it before, in regard to an Evo.
If my research is correct, then I'm going to take a guess and say that there is a very strong possibility that you might've borked your phone.
I am retarded lol, This is a droid x, for some reason I've been calling it an evo all day. Probably cause i usually mess with evos.
Well sorry for the confusion and thanks for still trying to follow my nonsense.
I'm pretty sure the battery is cooked though so I'm gonna try to get a new one and then take another stab at it, if i still cant figure it out, then off to the DROID X forum I go lol.

HAHA, that's a riot man. I was getting mighty confused for a minute, and couldn't figure out how a program and file for the Droid X would even possibly successfully flash on to an Evo, as you said it flashed successfully. LOL. I was mighty perplexed. Anyways, good luck, and I'm sure you'll get some more assistance from the DX forums, haha. Take it easy.
I believe my Dinc 2 is actually bricked. I get no response at all. It wont power up normally or in to recovery nor will it charge. I have searched for anything that sounds like my problem but no success. It is rooted (s-off) running stock froyo. I believe the Verizon push of gingerbread put it in a boot loop. So i deleted the data and tried to restore back to an earlier backup. I got around 5 error messages and the screen went black and now nothing. If there isn't anyway to recover can i get some advice on getting Verizon to exchange for a new one.
Thanks
Try this:

I can't, my phone has no response. no boot no recovery no charging
Dumb question maybe, but your battery is charged right?
With phone off, holding down volume down and holding the power button until your phone goes into the bootloader. If your just holding down volume down and tapping power it wont work, power button needs to be held down. Try that. If that works boot into recovery and try to restore a backup. If you dont have a backup and you were able to get into bootloader, then download a pc32img. or whatever there called for the inc2, place it on your sd card. You can do that by removing your sd card, putting it in a micro sd adapter then placing file on main part of sd card. Then place sd card back in phone, and boot back into bootloader if above method worked.
battery is charged. and yes boot loader doesn't work
Are you able to get the device to power on at all? If you so might be able to RUU it.
i can't get it to do anything i have held vol down and power for at least a min with nothing.
wow man that sucks if youve tried everything that others have posted and no luck, you are the first dinc2 brick in know. dumb question i kinda had the same ish problem with my friends dinc2, but not exactly. have you taken out the battery? it probably wont do anything for you but its worth a shot.
Pull the battery and pull the SIM card. Put the battery back in and then push volume down and AFTER YOU PUSH VOLUME DOWN hit power. Hold both for about 10 seconds it should kick you into the bootloader. When it does hit factory reset.
yes i have done the battery pulls, short ones and i saw a forum for another phone that said pull it for 2 hours so i did that as well. never tried the sim card but unfortunately it made no difference. I think I really am the first poor bastard to really brick the Inc 2...
I believe this justifies a warranty claim. They won't know if you rooted it. They will flash it when it arrives. Just keep your memory card. It holds all your secrets.

Agreed. Just play dumb to Verizon.
Just to make it clear, it does not power on at all? No lights or the screen turn on or anything?
correct it does nothing
I guess going to Verizon will be your only option now. And as others have mentioned, just play dumb. I have personally bricked my very old LG flip dumb phone and even my old GPS device, both because I accessed the root of their software and accidently messed with some important file.
In both cases I just played dumb and acted completely clueless. Basically say "I have no idea what happened" and mention no technical details. Do not say anything that an average person wouldn't say.
Just say, "I do not know what happened", "it just stopped working!". Do not say anything about operating systems, root, etc.
And in both cases they were somewhat serious bricks. The phone's operating system got wiped, yes on a dumb phone, lol. With the GPS unit I simply accessed its operating system, a version of Windows CE and made some silly errors on important files, so that bricked the device.
So if someone like me, who manages to brick stuff like a GPS and a dumb phone, is fine in terms of getting a replacement, your case should be fine...lol
Or instead of making up some stupid elaborate story, he could simply go with what actually happened. But leave out the root part. He installed the ota, and it was causing a boot loop. So he went to try a factory reset, it errored and then the phone wouldn't turn on.

I haven't tried another battery, and I don't have another way to charge it. But I know it was fully charged when it went in to the boot loop.
thanks everyone for your thoughts and help. It is off to Verizon for me.
I've searched & searched thru XDA without any luck or finding someone with a similar situation.
My GNEX is unlocked, rooted & running AOKP 36.
I hung up the phone after a call...locked it...put it in my pocket...took it out a few minutes later and the phone would not turn on. My battery was over 50%, so i thought i pocket-powered the phone down.
The phone does not boot into any mode. I've tried them all. It is not recognized by my Mac or PC. Here are the things i've done so far: Battery pull. Charge overnight. Removed battery overnight. I bought a new battery & i'm still having the same problem.
Any ideas before i call Verizon and take the loss? I would really like to recover my pictures & videos.
Thanks in advance.
So you have tried to boot into recovery by holding down power and the volume buttons?
If not try this to get to recovery to do a restore.

Do you have another battery or friend with a gnex? My girls died completely while plugged in over night. I got another battery and it fired up.
Needless to say a clean install was the next step.

Also hold down power button for awhile. And also try.with a different battery.

I bought a new battery from Verizon and tried it, but its still unresponsive. I charged both batteries overnight and nothing happens.
I've held all buttons for several minutes with both batteries, but nothing happens. It wont boot and it won't boot into recovery/bootloader/hard reset menu, etc (android with stomach open LOL)
On a few occasions, when i connect to my PC, it says new hardware detected OMAP 4440 (or something like that) & asks to install drivers. I have the Gnex toolkit, but the program does NOT detect my phone.
Thanks for the replies.
This happened to my fiance's vzw gnex. She was on stock though. Just surfing the web and it turned off. Dead as can be. She took it back and they gave her a new one.

My Nexus is from Verizon & the tutorial you linked is for the GSM version. Do you think it matters?
I will still give it a shot. Thanks!
Did you check the pin area where the battery connects? Are the pins in good condition or any small foreign object around them?
If you're careful you can *maybe* odin it back to stock (you've already lost the pics tho).

Hey everyone, the LG Optimus G phone in question is my girls phone and after she got out of work she tried to charge it but it ended up dying. After we got home we put it on her charger that came in the box with the phone and no led lights came on. So we tried to connect it to my HTC One charger and again nothing. I even tried to connect it to the laptop and nothing. Basically I havent gotten any sign of life from this phone and would like to ask this community for your help. Its no trouble to go to the store and asked for a new phone but I cant replace the music and photos that have been taken over time. If there are any cmd commands I can run to get it to turn on or at least give me a few minutes to get the data inside that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think I know your problem but answers these first.
Can you get the Hardware keys to flash when you attempt to power on the device, either plugged into charger or not?
Did the phone get really hot when the device was charging and after it died?
If you phone isnt rooted and unlocked ignore this: If you have lgnpst, attempt to go into download mode, and flash teenybin, and see if you can get to recovery or boot into ROM.
The OG has a problem I like to call super drain. Your battery is so low the device won't power on, and a hardware reset is needed (pulling the battery). The good thing is you will still have your files if reset the battery, however depending on who you bought your warranty from, it may void it.

If her phone isnt unlocked, its probably battery drain which means battery removal to hard reset the phone( if you want the files). Did you buy a sprint warranty or a bestbuy warranty, or even some other warranty? If you are willing to lose the files on the phone, you can go straight to lgnpst. Join the optimus g irc. As far as i know all OG's And ya, wont be an issue with BB warranty. If her phone is unlocked, try tinybin first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230106
If you really cant get into download mode, its probably the battery. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s22l8E92528
Also, to prevent this from happening again, tell her to keep her battery above 15-20% , as its better for it, and to just turn of her device if her batt gets to 5% or below. Basically this phone has bad battery power reporting, and it may say 5% but its actually 1 and it uses self to the point the hardware thinks there is something wrong. Also, i suggest not charging the device when its off if thats what she did. Its acts wonky for somepeople, idk why.

Downside of a phone without a microsd card slot. Probably for the future upload ALL pictures to the cloud if your phone doesn't have a micro sd card slot. Hardware failure = you lose your picture or it becomes expensive to fix.
