First off let me just say, I already know this is most likely a full brick with no chance of recovery.
Anyway, when my sister got a G2 a while back I perm-rooted and s-off'd it for her. I later flashed the CM 6 RC and that's what she's been on this whole time.
Apparently her new boyfriend is "tech savvy" and has the same phone, so he asked if she wanted to be updated to CM 7 and gave it a shot without letting me know first.
He bricked it, I'm almost certain of it. He said he tried to update it to the newest radio via adb and got an error saying something like "memory is full" or "cant write, no more space" or something like that. He then turned it off so he could "try again", but from then on it wouldn't turn on anymore -__-
I know that a bad radio flash leads to a brick so I'm guessing there's nothing i can do for her, but I've never bricked any of my devices so i thought i'd ask to be sure. As of right now, when i press the power button the screen stays off. No images, no lights, no nothing. I've tried holding the power button + volume down/up and nothing. It simply does nothing. The charging light still turns on if i plug it into the wall charger but nothing happens when i connect it to a computer.
Is there anything I can do to help her besides telling her to get a new one?
Sounds like a brick to me, did he try flashing the ENG. Hboot ? If he screwed something up while doing this the result would be exactly what you are describing.

have you tried pulling the battery then re-seating it and booting into recovery?
Also take out battery and hold power as you put battery back in. Worth a shot

I say smack it off his head a few times.
If its a brick you might as well use it for some good (Y)

This guy has it right your sister has a new G2 with cm7 and he has nice expensive paper weight tell him thats what he gets for ****ing with stuff he knows nothing about
My LEDs don't even lit up when I plug it into the wall charger. Into the PC neither. I do get a hardware detected notification though, but Windows 7 isn't able to find the correct driver (for a what's apparently called QHSUSB_DLOAD). I have all HTC and Android drivers installed since I have the Android SDK and HTC Sync+drivers installed.

This is probably completely a result of my stupidity but I rooted my phone a while ago. I had a nandroid back up set before i flashed to any custom roms just in case anything happened. Then i flashed to the back up again and wasn't running any custom roms. it was just still rooted because i never got a chance to unroot it. I then installed an update not thinking about it at all and im pretty sure bricked my phone. When it first happened it had two green arrows in a circle around another green arrow pointing down at a picture of a phone. I pulled the battery and drove home all day. I just got home and tried to turn it on and nothing is working. The charge light is not coming on when it is plugged in, vol up+ power and vol down+power button doesnt work. it seems like nothing i can do can turn this phone on. any ideas on how i can fix this?
ps. i have also checked and made sure the battery works and everything

i didnt pull during the installation. i let it download and install and it rebooted by itself. so it seems like everything was installed properly it just bricked afterwards any idea? thanks for the help though
If you pulled the battery during the arrow pointing at the phone stage, you're bricked. That was most likely a radio update, and pulling the battery during that will give you a phone that'll never turn on again.
When exactly did you pull the battery?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
yeah, you can't pull the bettery with that logo on, sometimes after an update the phone will go into that mode where it seems unresponsive but it always pulls through. If you pulled it out during that time then the previous posters are correct and you likely have a very handy paper weight (hope you have insurance, or have a clean phone that has no damage so you can claim a warranty issue). If you didn't pull the battery during this time and it just died or powered off on you then you could have a battery issue, while unlikely it doesn't mean that it isn't possible. I would take the advice and let it sit on the charger overnight, if that doesn't wory then I would just take it to sprint and play dumb. If it's bricked and won't turn on then they won't be able to tell that it was rooted, just say you plugged it in at night and woke up and it was dead. Not that i'm an advocate of screwing sprint, but we put up with ****ty wimax so whatcha gonna do....
yep, if you got insurance just go to sprint and tell them you updated to 2.3 and then it just shut off
damn, i didnt realize that it was still updating. thanks for the heads up, it's definitely bricked lol but i have insurance thankfully. best way to go about getting a new phone? is there a specific excuse i should use or just play dumb? but thanks for all the help. i really do appreciate it

As others before me have stated, just tell sprint that you ran the "new update" and it restarted your phone and now it does not work.
Make sure you don't mention anything about being rooted or pulling out the battery....

So insurance premium raising never has to do with wanting higher profits? And this whole time I thought insurance companies were blood suckers.

It wasn't root that bricked his phone, it was HTC and Sprint pushing an update without instructing users properly. He pulled the battery thinking it was stuck. It was an accident. Just like dropping or losing your phone. That's what insurance is for.

possibly bricked evo 4g's
i just received 2 evo 4g's from a friend that couldn't get them to start up and was wondering if there was a procedure beside power and down volume buttons...i have tried holding them down for about 5 mins and also just holding down the power button by itself to no avail.....any help would be greatly appreciated.....
ps they were plugged in all night and also made sure the battery was working by putting it on another evo and they also work....just wanted to see if anything else comes to mind.....btw they are out of contract so no insurance..
Well I rooted my htc wildfire and overclocked it.
Everything seemed to work fine for a few months
and then...
I got a text message, and I responded to it, but I did also see that my battery was almost empty, then after responding, I putted my phone in my pocket, Then like 15 minutes later, I looked at my phone and it didn't do anything anymore, so I thought, my battery ran out, nothing to worry about then I got home, plugged in my phone... led didn't turn on... phone didn't charge. I was like damn, maybe my battery died? So I went outside to someone who also has a Wildfire and asked if I could try his battery, We switched batteries and my phone still didn't work
Does anyone know how i can fix this? my phone doesn't respond to ANYTHING I've tried
These symptoms are a bad omen.

also @lcd poster
if it was my lcd, my led should still turn on when inserting the phone to a power connection
also I do also think it is something with my mainboard/cpu, i've read on the internet that i'm not the only one with a phone that just doesn't respond to anything anymore (wildfire) even others who hadn't rooted their phone got this issue, although they have garrantuee :s

Yes your warranty is void. But, if you were on a Stock / Sense based ROM, you *may* be lucky and the service guys may not notice.

But maybe they won't start repairing it and give me just a new one, (since it's more expensive to repair the phone then to give me a new one i guess) and then they'll won't notice either?
also, if I do bring back my phone and they find out about it, will they charge me for the repairing costs? even if I don't want it to be repaired if it will cost me? (I already bought an iphone now, but sometimes i just want to experiment back with my android xd)
I really can't answer that mate. Policies vary widely across stores and nations. But, don't hold your breath for a new one, I think that case is extremely unlikely. I guess your best bet is to give them the phone, and have them contact yo regarding it's situation, repairs, and costs (if any) after their preliminary inspection / assessment. Only after their assessment, you give the go ahead to repair / replace (If free ).

HTC and Apple don't roll the same way.
Apple's products aren't even worth repairing, thus they don't bother doing that.
it might be an lcd problem this thing also happened to me...
I know quite a few friends of mine who had similar issues with other HTC devices and they just went to the shop and they were given new ones in a short time. usually guys at the customer service are ignorant and don't check for anything, even if in your situation it should be impossbile to know which rom you're mounting.
my advice is go there and have a brand new wildfire, nobody will discover it's without warranty
Mabye its static?
Once my brothers netbook had a static build up causing a problem i dunno if the same rules apply but try: take out battery -> hold power on for around 30secs, If that didnt work try getting into bootloader holding vol down and power on when your phones off
Hope my ideas worked and that your wildfires better
I have same problems
When i trying root my HTC device ... there are something wrong... so it can't boot after rooting.
I think that it was bricked.
How to unbrick HTC Wildfire? Pls, help me resolv this problem
Pretty sure my options are just send it in for repair at this stage, but just incase i thought i'd make a topic anyways. I wasn't trying to hack it or anything infact i recently unrooted the damn thing...about 3-4 weeks ago, in hopes id recieve the JB OTA. Either way the screen suddenly stopped working today but it'll still reset if i held the button down and charge when plugged. then all of a sudden it vibrated, wouldn't even restart anymore, and the phones not even charging. i tried different cables and my friends HTC One X charger too incase it was the cahrger (doubt it since the phone had 80% battery before the screen turned off anyways but whatever) and still nothing. Im guessing its dead somehow, and hopefully can get it repaired free, but has anyone else heard of anything like this and if so is there an easier fix than sending it to HTC?
Nothing anyone can do if it won't turn on. Hardware problem maybe.

Hi to all!
I've got a big big problem here..I've already read another post, where a guy sayed that his desire is dead..but I want to ask for some help anyway..so..my desire was working good..no problems..aokp rom,rooted,s-off,latest radio exc exc..everything was working fine until tonight, when I,as usually as anybody does, push the power button to wake up the phone,'cause I needed to send a message..and I discovered that the desire was off..battery was 95% the last time that I checked..and I know that soft reboot and anything else could occur..so,I tried to switch it on with the power button..but no response..linked with the charger,no orange charging led..Tried to remove the battery, and put it in again..no response..what can I do?please help,'cause I haven't got money to buy another phone now!
Can you get into hboot?

No,I can't..it still be dead
try a different battery if u can, if that dont work then its probably dead. Same happened to mine, my phone was charging and i dropped it then it never turned back on (it didnt brake from dropping it, overheated while charging)
i'll try the original one..'cause i bought a while ago a mugen power battery bigger than the stock one....but the mess is that i haven't done anything to the phone..it simply "suicided" himself!that's weird!

I actually just came to make a thread, about the exact same problem I cant turn my desire on charging doesn't respond tried a new battery at a store. Prior to this happening I was at a beach and my phone took a dip for 10 seconds, phone never stopped working the led light was red from there on worked for at least a month or so after before this.
I was thinking it was connected to that but maybe not, I was wondering if maybe the phone some how bricked. It's a silly question but I shall ask any ways is there any possibility of restoring stock ruu via the computer? I'm no expert on that guess the phone wouldn't be detected tho.
The only thing I can make the phone do is occasionally when holding the power down the phones gets stuck vibrating till I pull the battery.

Oh well thanks, I wonder how common it is for phones to just die. My general thinking was so long as I didn't drop it or the beach lol it would last ages which it did, previously had a iphone 3g which apples updates killed the wifi then the battery died, now I'm torn between the LG Optimus 4X HD or a Ipod Touch 5th gen, actually this seems really good value for money BWC Thunderbolt Dual SIM which is available on mobicity.c0m.a-u It's kinda like dunno Chinese generic brand running Jellybean 4.1.2 only reason I probably wouldn't buy it probably wouldn't ever be rooted or updated by manufacturer otherwise I would get it

Well I'm not all to caught up in the one or the other boat all seem to get aboard on, I already brought a new phone average. I was looking to buy a ipod bare amount I was willing to spend just for getting on the net when out music games reading then figured 4.7 inch to 5 inch screens would be better for reading, and there's only one or two other options in that price range. Dunno if I will or wont now but I was recently looking at ubuntu for phones which may be out end of year or next year, seems interesting going to have to wait to see how that unfolds

If anyone can remember I've had this issue not only once but twice, and now, this makes the third time.
Idk what's going on or why this would happen again. Maybe it's MHL, since I use it frequently, or a LG issue. Who knows Anyways I have insurance with sprint but I'm afraid they will make a big deal since I've already taken it back twice. Or should that even matter? I don't think it should but who knows.
Now my questions are, I have a stock backup but TWRP installed, will sprint notice it if i try to get them to fix it??? Is there a way to reset back to stock without a PC???
I'm very frustrated because this has happened too many times now and I don't think it's a software issue but a hardware issue, which makes me hesitant to get another LGOG. which sucks because I really enjoy this phone.
Anyways, any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks again to all who have helped in the past. And this community here is awesome.
idk how i got here...
Mine will or won't recognize based on the cable I'm using at the time.

ok so i noticed MHL wouldnt work with my phone with certain roms, so i firgured it was a rom issue. But, there were roms that did work with MHL so it wasnt a big issue. Then i noticed the rom i was using stopped working with MHL, and at first I thought it was an xposed module that made it stop working, so i restored a stock backup, after removing the xposed modules and same thing happened. But this made me recall my first experience with MHL not working and my first reaction was to see if my pc recognized it, and unfortunately it didnt, so i already knew what happened. One of my usb pins broke...(thats what the tech said who fixed my phone) which by now isnt a big deal because its natural now, well to me it is. So i just assumed i would take advantage of it and try new roms, since alot of roms I've tried didnt work well with MHL so why not?!... Anyways, after trying new roms and flollowing the instructions to a tee, i flashed a new rom and rebooted to a black lit screen, which is what happened the first\second time this has happened to me. LG screen pops up but thats it, nothing else. Battery is charged cuz I've charged it before. Plug it in just in case and LG screen pops up and then the black lit screen. Holding power plus volume down does nothing nor does holding power plus volume up. And since computer cant recognize the phone, download mode does nothing. So, idk if this helps with development here but its happened too many times for me to where idk if i want another LGOG.
If anyone has any insight or a similar experience, PLEASE SHARE!!!
And again THANKS to everyone here.
I have the same issues as you for the most part. I get the black lit screen from time to time as well, but mine usually happens if i let the battery drain. It won't go into charging mode and will not boot. Just the LG, and then black screen. It usually takes two to five times trying to get into recovery mode before it boots

Well turns out my phone is not done for turns out the battery was dead. :banghead: anyways phone is good to go BUT my usb still doesn't connect so I guess that's the only downside. Which I honestly think mhl is to blame since I use it constantly.
Well this can be closed but thanks to everyone who was kind enough to help.
