I found the first negative reason for Zero Lag Camera! - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I let a coworker look at my phone because he is interested in getting one. Needless to say he is very jealous of my free upgrade from Three. There was a stapler on the desk and he took 33 pictures of it in about 4 seconds. You can tell he was impressed. Naturally, having Google+, all those pictures uploaded to my account. If anyone has a small data plan, like the 500 meg ones, then letting others test out the camera can use up you monthly allowance really quick. Thankfully I'm on the all you can eat plan.
Does anyone else have this issue?

Just disable auto upload within the Google+ settings!

Under the Gallery app, just set it to only sync on WiFi
I'm on 500MB, so this is very useful. I had the same issue, about 20 pictures of our offices in a few seconds.

this sync you speak of is download only I think, as in it pulls photos form picasa to your device, but doesnt upload what you take
only instant upload via google plus is what the OP should be concerned about
correct me if im wrong

I have set Google+ instant upload to WiFi only, not had a problem with it

The good news of having to delete loads of pictures is that my coworker wants a GN. He was considering the iPhone 4s.
I hope this was a humorous negative for you all.

GMail contacts image quality fix on the way!

A Google Lead PM acknowledged the issue and quote:
"This is work in progress guys. We are fixing it "

A great step forward IMHO as we haven't seen any reaction from Google on this issue in years even on the official support forums.
Oldest dated bug seems to be Issue 4147 from 2009 on Android 1.5...damn.
Wow, finally!
This is the only embarrassing thing about Android when I show people my phone. I personally use Haxsync or find other ways to get high quality images for my contacts, but it should be a native function. It's a no brainer. I'm glad they're pulling their **** together and FINALLY addressing this!!
Right, it's irritating that I can save high resolution contacts, but upon wipe/resync they degrade.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I look forward to the update. However, 256x256 is still not high resolution enough. The screen is 720p for Christ's sake. Even when I try to use 21mp portraits directly from my gallery, the images are downsized to 256x256. It's embarrassing.
256x256 is fine considering the size of the caller ID screen.
Few days? Yet this is still not fixed...

The Caller ID screen takes up the full width of the screen, which is 720 pixels. I can certainly see the pixelation when I get a call, even after using a nice and sharp high-resolution image.
Finally! Great news!
This can't come soon enough.
Finally!!!! What took so long?

i think we better start snapping new photos of our contacts as we bump into them to have them ready for the refresh. i've got some in there from ppl i haven't seen in ages, does this mean i have to meet old friends again?
so we have to sit tight and wait.....unless someone can pull this again

About time. It is embarrassing to show a pixelated contact picture. Its like watching a 700MB avi video on a 50inch 1080p LCD TV....ugh!
FINALLY! Nexus has such a beautiful screen, it looks so weird when someone calls and you see a pixelated picture!
For all those people shouting "Finally!" remember... it hasn't happened yet.
They were "working hard" to get Google Voice in Canada over two years ago...

Same here. Back when I had my Evo, someone posted a thread about configuring their AOL account with the default mail client. I asked why because gmail is so much better, plus these are Google phones, so it kinda defeats the purpose, at least for me.

I remember when AOL high speed came out. The box said, $24.99 a month, prerequisites are you must have a high speed internet connection. Yes, of course, I love paying double the price just for a stupid ass email account.....

I had a dedicated line run into a computer that was also a router (LRP floppy FTW). My entire house had internet in '98, 5 computers total. Sure, a shared 56k (or 33.6k, or 28.8k, or whateverK) line wasn't a speed demon...but...we could queue up tons of stuff and just let it come in. Each computer had gigs and gigs of music on it from Napster, all saved on the server.

Any got Group Cast to work and found it useful?

Gang, after Samsung decided to advertise the hell out of Group Cast. It looks like an interesting and useful feature so I decided to give it a shot. First off, it was difficult to setup, something like 15 clicks or so to get two devices connected. I could barely figure it out myself, much less expect my wife or my friends who are not tech savvy to set it up. Also, it only works between GSIII's. The odds of two GSIII's getting together, well, you can calculate it. My previous phone was a GNex, and I discovered this app called Tapestry, and it is a really polished photo sharing app and it connects in 3 clicks. It also has nifty features like "swipe to download" to directly download images peer-to-peer, and also synchronized pinch/zoom. It also works with all Android devices, not just GSIII's. Has anyone else played with Group Cast? I'd like to get your thoughts. Has anyone else played with Tapestry? I'd like to get your comparison/contrast on it as well.
Yea I've used it but within small groups of people like my co-workers. If it's just you and your wife why not just s beam?

S Beam is simply a file sharing/transfer tool. I'm more into the experience of sharing photos and the ability to talk about the photos at the same with multiple people, ie with my aunt, uncle, newphew, sister, around the living room, for example.
And can you use S-Beam to multiple people at the same time or is it a 1:1 thing?

T-Mobile Throttling YouTube App?

I feel like T-Mobile is throttling my YouTube app.
I cannot fully watch any video without stutters, pauses, buffering via the YouTube app.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Apparently, there are evidences that TMO is throttling any downloads with file size larger than 30MB. This also explains why downloading large app on Google Play also takes forever.
Nah no issues here. That is pretty odd though. Is it in a certain area or does it not matter where you are?
Beamed from Darth Stalker N3
It's happening pretty much anywhere.
I have stock rom and rooted. No other mod.
Weird.

I have better access to Youtube via T-Mobile than when I am using WiFi due to problems via Cox right now. Almost never have any issues when using 4G.
i feel like im having the same issues... stock here and rooted.. Youtube just is buffering like crazy and i have lte with 2 bars
No issues here, but T-Mobile's throttling my app store downloads for sure. LTE is super quick up to 80mbs or so and then slows to a crawl
Could try clearing the cache for the youtube app. Is the problem on Wifi as well?
Try a reboot. It was happening to me and a reboot fixed it for a few days. Then repeat if buffering occurs. Its weird

Tmobile is definitely throttling us in certain situations. It is very concerning that they are doing this.
I suggest every one send John Legere a twitter message asking him what is going on.

Wow, yes, my app store seems to be throttling as well.
Similar experience. It would shoot up to supersonic speed and then throttle down to dripping molasses.
I have $70 Prepaid. There shouldn't be any throttling.

I recommend also filing a FCC complaint as they'll ultimately forward your issue to some high up in customer relations at T-Mobile. Carriers hate FCC complaints and do what they can to resolve them.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Are those with these issues mostly on prepaid or postpaid? It seems to be affecting prepaid mostly.
T-Mobile is definitely throttling it takes a lot longer to download apps from the Play Store.I'm sure they'll say that they only offer up to high speeds and not continuous. With all the new customers they can't handle the traffic.
I don't very often watch Youtube but I tried it out just now. Sure enough can't make it through a single video. Almost everytime the video "pre-loads" (based on the progressbar) about the first minute of the video, then stalls out.
The whole reason I got the $70 PrePaid, rather than the $50, is for the non-throttling.
From all indications, I'm being throttled
That's no cool T-MO.
Are you sure smart pause isnt on and just not working properly? I didn't realize I had it on and that was causing issues for me.

I don't think it will get fixed anytime soon. I have had the same picture orientation issue on all my Samsung phones, s2, s4, and now the Note 4. Seems to work good on Samsung apps, stock TW roms, other apps, phones appear to interpret the picture orientation data embedded in the file wrong. Proprietary crap, on my older bose headset made for iPhone, the earbud volume buttons won't work either... They're wired differently.
If this is ongoing issue, will be my first and last Samsung phone! I take lots of pictures of my 4 year old , 2 year old and 6 month old. Everyone texting me that pictures are sideways.
