OK I have searched through lots of posts about CIQ looking for what might be a silly question. All the ROMS I have flashed so far have had CIQ removed but if I switch kernels to one of the stock ones will it come back? Is CIQ contained entirely in the ROM or does any of it reside in the kernel?
Rom

I didn't read anywhere on chris's kernel plus version mentioning voodoo, not sure if that's a given or just not cooked in. I'm on stock eg22 kernel. I know starskys rom was going to have it but I don't want his rom, lol can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.
I know some EC05 kernels had it but I don't recall anything except voodoo sound being included anymore

I looked around for this a while back, and found a bunch of dead ends honestly. But I found a thread on XDA that says Supercurio supported the Nexus S on GB but not the Galaxy S line, running stock roms for the most part. Probably because none of us are legitimately on Gingerbread.
Currently I'm running hatreds version of ics.
My question is, is there any custom kernels out for this? I've searches here, google, check a few other sites and to no avail.
I also checked KM for aosp kernels and the highest I could find was for android version 2.3.5.
Thanx in advance.

No custom kernels yet, still working on stability. Basically all ICS ports for Evo come with a modded Tiamat 4.1.0

So before I ask my question I wanna make one thing clear. I have 100% respect for the devs that work on our phones and can't wait to see what ICS source brings us.
Now to the question. Before all these ICS leaks we had EL29 source for our phone. However we only ever had on variant of custom kernel (Rogue). All I keep hearing is that once source drops for ICS we'll see a lot of custom ROMs and kernels. If we have source for GB why aren't there any other custom kernels? I guess I'm just a little confused on what source will bring us, besides allowing us to build a pure AOSP kernel and allow over and underclocking on TW roms.
Are you saying rogue was the only gb kernel for this phone?
If so you haven't been here long..

I believe he is referring to gunslinger/hitman and all the kernels before it made by team rogue which allowed voltage changing and overclocking. Not the repacked stock kernels.
LoStKernel. Zedomax. Plus kernel. That's without actually looking.

I have a question on if a Rom is built using a kernel, is the rom built to be the best on that kernel(optomized) or will it run better on another kernel? I am running the people's rom v2.2 with the samuri-mtd kernel that was flashed with it.

Kernels aren't built for specific ROMs they are built for specific phones . However they are built for specific android versions. Like an ICS kernel won't boot on a GB kernel... for obvious reasons. So you can flash any GB kernel for any GB rom.

Thank you for the quick reply. So as long as I use the GB kernels I can try any of them out?

No. Only ones that use the bootclasspath and drivers for your specific ROM type such as Touchwiz or Cyanogenmod7.

Whoops... that slipped... forgot about that.
Currently the only choices are the Samurai kernel TPR came with, shadowkernel (either EL30 or FC09 versions will work but FC09 version still has no LED notifications I believe), Nubernel and CleanGB kernel.

Wow thank you did not know that. That's why I ask or search before I do anything. And always back up.

I'm currently still rockin the stock ATT ROM. It's rooted and a few AT&T apps are frozen. That said, I am a flash head by trade and normally would have flashed a number of roms already. I have flashed a couple but ultimately referred to my nandroid back to stock. Ok.. So.. I am curious as to whether there's a kernel out there that will improve the stock feel. Can anyone on the stock rom offer up any suggestions?
Perhaps I should have posted this in Q&A. Whoops. Mods please feel free to move it. Thanks.
I'm liking the Perseus kernel at the moment.
Thanks for the response. I actually went ahead and installed cleanrom last night (which includes an option for the perseus kernel). I included perseus and am absolutely loving the rom thus far.

The newest perseus kernel (not included in cleanrom currently) also fixes the security leak without breaking the camera

Persus plays nice with stock rom great battery life. Probably better than stock and definitely a lot snappier
