Do you have the zip file?? Upload it please!!!
on the t-mo forums it seems that someone has talked to customer service and they said that they are releasing an update to fix some problems that people had with the previous update and adding HSPA+ support. but no mention of froyo so idk we will see i guess
Ok just called 611.
The OTA system has been down since yesterday.
No one knows when it will be running again but when it does the update will be sent out on Mondays, Wednesdays & Friday evenings..
The update is just a lot of fixes for what the other update caused..
Genius Button, Freezing, My Fave, Voice commands, Wifi, Phone Call log..
Nothing special really .. but defo not Froyo.

This person was me, lol. This information was delivered from Tier 3 Technical Support. I also found out some heft info regarding my Vibrant as well. Customer Service Reps and any technical support below really don't know much as opposed to that level. I was surprised... But nevertheless, allow me to explain.
A lot of MTS owners have been reporting signal fluctuations and that's because of what I had said about this previous update locking the signal to HSPA. Well, that was a test update in that regard because it was all to test the server load. (It's not handling it well, lol...) So this next patch will fix many of the bugs and will allow the MTS to use the HSPA+ servers. I have an ETA for Froyo on my Vibrant but not the Slide, sorry.
wat is the eta for the vibrant im sure all the vibrant users including me wouldn want to know

Well, I don't know if you've heard but there were rumors of the GPS fix to be baked into Froyo. Sadly, that isn't the case. There will be the GPS patch this month (which is rumored to begin getting pushed around the 17th-20th) and then there will be another sub-patch (which is for the battery meter, address book force closes, multiple contacts and plenty of other bugs) released once the GPS fix is complete.
Then we've got October and that's when T-Mobile is planning on starting the rollout for Froyo. It is to be completed before the middle of November. I suppose this is all factoring minimal to no issues with the OTA's coming out prior.
Sidenote: With this whole Cliq debacle, I was told that from this point forward T-Mobile will try to focus their Android lineup on mostly vanilla Android. (I wouldn't mind more Sense devices though. I personally don't care for Espresso but my wife loves her slide and the UI.) They are really having to bite the bullet since the Behold II and now the Cliq's promised update to 2.1 from Q2 which it's now almost Q4 with no update.

Why do they insist on giving on these worthless updates, instead of working on an actual Froyo rom? They waist their time on something that's like 20MB, when that time could be used for something else..Other HTC phones are getting 2.2(inc sense). There are minor diff b/t sense & espresso, excluding faves, genius,themes,etc...

They have different teams that work on the software of the device. For example they'll have a team who test in-market software while others work on testing and developing for future software.
Give these guys a break. They work hard at what they do.
Thanks for the response everyone, I will leave this topic up for future updates to the slide up to and including froyo.

Yes, there is an OTA on the way... CR has seen it in-person. No, it's definitely NOT Froyo. Nothing overly exciting, but for those people who run stock-like ROMs it will definitely be an upgrade.
My letter (linked here) is to address a specific time-line for Froyo rollout on our device.
siccmade, can you PLEASE get in touch with ChiefzReloaded or myself ASAP? My GTalk is nbetcher (at) gmail [dot] com. Thanks!
Looked but didnt see it. Were should I be looking

False alarm everyone... still need someone to pull the OTA once they get a notification. Note: if you get a notification on anything other than: Stock or CR_Mod then it's likely a bug. Please download the OTA package, but make sure to NOT apply it!
Thanks everyone.

I ordered and received the HTC video out cable for the Incredible and am now wondering how I get the video out function to work on my phone. I'm rooted and running CM 6.1, does the video out function exist for root?
It does, just not on AOSP ROMs (such as CyanogenMod). You'll need a Sense ROM. Hope this helps.
But if I understand correctly, the wiimote via bluetooth connection does not work on any sense roms correct?
Right, as far as I know.

So who do I gotta bribe to work on implementing the video out feature from Sense into a CM Rom!?
why are you still on 6.1?
7 is much better! still no video out though.
I'd just like to say, to ALL Rom bakers, PLEASE put TV-Out in your Roms. Please share the code with all other Rom bakers. Cell phones don't last long, and development for this phone will be dead in 2-3 years. We gotta develop the crap out of this thing while we can. We're at a point now, where unlike previous generations, this generation of phones could have use even after they aren't on a plan. So, when you buy that new phone in a few years, you can still use your D-Inc for other things......like TV-Out! Or wifi! OR OR OR......well, You get the idea.
Anyways, my HTC Vouge is absolutely worthless now. Great phone in its day......no use now. Lets not let our D-Inc's suffer that same fate. TV-Out for ALL Roms!
I was wondering if there was 4G on MIUI yet, or if anyone as done a mod to this rom to interpret the 4G, like a ".zip" flashable or something.

Hopefully they get it working in up and coming builds, but as far as I know no one has gotten it working on MIUI yet
Hope that helps

its been in there for a long time. But when they re-did the info about the rom on the rom page (around update 1.4ish) they added that 4G was in the works but not done.
I agree, I hope they get it working.
One more time:
MIUI is a closed source ROM by Chinese devs for phones without 4g service (none in China). Several talented Evo devs have tried on this end without success to get 4g working in MIUI. Now there is a very small possibility 4g may make it into the rom, but it would be more by happenstance than by any effort by the Chinese devs. They have absolutely no interest in Sprint, Evo or 4g. Keep in mind there are 800 million cellphones in China, so the Evo MIUI rom is not on their radar.
If 4g is essential to you, then alas, this rom is not for you.

As Jay said, exactly why I won't use it. I guess if I wasn't in a 4g area, I'd have at least tried it out. I thought that ultimately, MIUI was based on CM, so that's why I thought 4g would eventually make it's way in. I can imagine it's a difficult task to accomplish, and hopefully the devs are able to get it running some day.

3G has sucked so badly in my area, that without 4G using any data would be nearly impossible. 4G drains the battery, but a few cheapies from Ebay and a wall charger resolve that. I couldn't imagine not having 4g...fortunately my area is saturated with solid 4g connection.

I keep seeing roms and posts stating that 4G WiMax is not going to happened on the Evo. I keep running back to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902051 scratching my head as I still don't understand why not?
TeamWin put the work in and wrote the code for 4G WiMax for us and proved it works on CM7 which im using now. I have also seen ICS and JB roms for the Evo 3D that have working 4G based on this code so what is this disconnect I'm having with why we OG Evolution owners can't have working 4G on ICS and up?
Sent from my BADASS Evo 4G using xda premium
Its entirely different. That is for gingerbread. Gingerbread and ice cream sandwich are vastly different and the evo 3d has different hardware specs so it won't happen unless drivers are provided. Cm7 has nothing to do with ICS or JB.

The thing isnt that it can't happen, its that it probably won't happen
The reason is that its very hard to build something like Wimax from source, especially for a device that, to be honest, not many own or are interested in deving for anymore and when HTC doesnt officially support those Android versions for this device and so theres nothing to work from

I get that no one is interested (real developers at least). however like I said TeamWin reverse engineerd the drivers and written their own source code which we can use as a starting point.
I know that this is not impossible and not in the level of difficulty that places it in the not possible realm. I also know that there ate many users that are in anticipation of such a feat, its all over these forums.
I will take a stab at this my self and if anyone would like to chip in and help you can get in touch here on XDA.

I really wasn't trying to be negative, but the fact that they got it working with several talented people on their team doesn't mean that it can work here, there are different things to take into consideration hardware wise, but if anyone could get it working that would be great
What I was trying to get it is that there isn't much development for this phone and in that area (getting hardware stuff to work)
But good luck, I wish you the best

wimax is dying a slow death by the time people would get it up and running for ICS sprints LTE service will be in full swing i say keep those devs working on exciting phones and if you want ics on the evo know that your only getting 3g coverage if you have 4g coverage keep with the older versions of andriod (wimax 4g SUCKS in cincy always dropping and reconnecting) i much rather have a 3g signal that stays connected and the latest ROM then a 4g connection that drops all the time and have an outdated ROM even when i had 4g on my phone i never used it woohoo 5 posts to go before i can post in the dev section lol

Over the air FM broadcast radio is another feature Samsung chooses to leave out of their phones. Seems like a no-brainer to me to include it, as it was on my HTC Sensation. One time when high winds blew out AC power for over 2 days in my area, the FM radio on my phone was the only way to tune in reports on current conditions.
There are dozens of apps that will play streaming radio over an internet connection, but over the air FM radio reception has to be built in to the chipset on the phone and there is no app that can give you this feature.

This is the best phone I have ever had but I cant believe they didnt include fm radio on it. I also use tunein and iheart but they are battery hogs.
I have always used Xiialive due to it's perfect integration with Shoutcast. Winamp is also a good choice and can also be your music player.
Are you certain the chipset doesn't support it?
I know the stock G2 ROM didn't support it, but the hardware was there. Flashing one of the CM ROMs enabled it and it worked great.

Doesn't the international version have fm radio? Although I have to confess... never got spirit fm radio to work on this phone. Worked fine on my G2. I just can't understand why tmobile would leave it out when some of the other models have it. Maybe to sell more data plans, huh?

if you're able to send FM signal, you may be able to develop an app that sends FM signal?
wouldn't that violate FCC, or require some extra licensing that t-mobile or samsung don't want to shell money/time approving?
Wikipedia says they didn't include the FM tuner with our version of the phone. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Note_2 . The N7100 version has the tuner. Like the other poster above, I'd love to be wrong but I think that if the phone had an FM tuner it would have been found by now.

IMO the major U.S. Carriers told Samsung to remove the fm tuner hardware from their versions because they have no way of monetizing it, so they'd rather have you chewing up your data with a radio app.
Yep its always about the $$$. Maybe we can loby congress to mandate all us carriers install the chip.
Claim national security or somthing. It would seem to me a lowsley 50 cent chip could medicate a lot of risk.

Do you have a source for this? Or is it speculation? Isn't is possible that the different baseband that allows LTE simply doesn't have the ability to do FM? As that is a MAJOR difference between the 7100 and 7105 varieties. Either way, unless you have hard proof, you might want to refrain from stating an opinion as a fact, might not turn out so well, especially if you are wrong...

And what does that have to do with anything? Not trying to be a jerk, but that is not proof, nor even hard evidence to suggest what you theorized. Nor does it disprove my theory. Unless, somewhere buried in the 1000s of posts is something convincing (and if there is, maybe next time link to that), I have to say that proves nothing.
