I have an Evo on Boost now for 2 months rooted with no problems at all. I change roms all the time, update kernels, put themes and never any problems. Yesterday there was a post to update the pri to version 1.40.
I did it and it said something about resetting the phone. It shut down and ever since then I have no 3g at all. The only way I can surf the net or go to the market place is through my wireless internet in my home. I can send/receive texts/mms/phone calls but no internet.
Also, it constantly come up with an error 67 data call failed.
Thanks guys in advance
You could try updating profile under settings and system update.. let me know if this worked.. my 3g wasnt working went to sprint and did the update and is back on..

this will reset ALL data profile information on your phone. it will then reboot and reload all said information by re-provisioning your phone.
if you do not know your msl, call sprint tech support and ask nicely for it. they will usually give it to you. if not, hang up and call back. or just tell them you have no data and want to re-provision your phone and they will walk you through what i just did.
as a side note, sometimes this error pops up, for no good reason and goes away after a while. my guess is in your situation this isn't the case. you had a hiccup that's easily fixed.

Thank you for trying to help I really do appreciate it, but I don't have a sprint account I am on Boost Mobile and have been for 2 months now without any issues but this one
Could be a PRL problem? I don't know anything about getting an EVO on Boost, but I assume part of the process was downloading a PRL for Boost to connect to their towers?
Go back to the guide you followed and redo the steps.

this will still work on your phone. contact boost to get your msl. or use CDMA workshop. there is a thread in the dev section on using CDMA workshop.

What exactly will work on my phone?? and what should I do in CDMA Workshop? I have the program and I do know my MSL, so if you can explain what I should do to get back my data connection that would be great!
I tried to update the PRI and wiped my data profile for boost mobile and now without wifi on, I get error 67 data call failed
By the way, Thank you for trying to help, you guys are the best
No offense, but it really should not be that difficult if you set this up before!! I assume that you in fact did not set your EVO up on Boost, but gave it to someone else to set up, correct?
Simply refer to the original guide, or steps you took yourself to set the phone up on Boost in the first place - or give it back to the person that did it and let them fix it.

Hey Nukedukem,
No offense taken, however you might want to check your panties to see if you're getting your period. I thought this was a forum for people to help other people "do it themselves". If I, and everyone else did what you suggested, you'd be outside sitting on the curb with nothing to do. So if you have nothing nice to suggest, then I suggest you pass over my post and go "not help" someone else. Thanks
To everyone else: yes the guy that first did my phone is no longer to be found so if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. Also, if a programmer can help I'm more than willing to donate.
Thanks again guys
The error 67 I think may be caused by the network rejecting your phones credentials, I had this same problem last night. The only way I could fix it was to restore a nandroid backup and then have it update my profile and PRL. You may be able to get away with just restoring the backup though, trying to update anything is most likely not a good idea since you are using a network other then what the software was written for.

Sorry you took offense, but you are in WAY over your head. If you want help from a developer, you need to SEARCH FIRST.
Since I'm such a nice guy, I searched for you...30 seconds later I learned how to port my EVO to Boost Mobile.
http://cellphoneforums.net/boost-mobile/t307946-how-get-sprint-phones-boostmobile-cdma.html
Oh, and uh...try not to choke on my menorrhagia.
That method did work MONTHS ago but not now that SPRINT changed up their website your not allowed to do esn swaps anymore. I was able to do it months ago with my touch pro2 and i have an EVO now and just tried to reprogram my phone cause i had the msl code and input my boost number and msid like i did before with the touch pro2. It reseted but when i went to make a call it said account cannot be validated so had to get sprint service again. Soon as someone comes out with a VALID way of getting the EVO working on boost Im going back to them.

did u fix the problem?
it's because you have a sprint 1.4 pri and need a modified boost pri...until that is changed, no 3g for you, but seriously, there is an app that gives you your MSL code
I want to upgrade to the latest roms that have EC05 but in doing so, it will screw up my Metro PCS settings, rendering all my Epic's features useless. Anyone else on the same boat?
Sorry on a boat to no where with my Sprint Epic

Bumping this thread.
What settings specifically are you concerned about?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
The Programming Settings that keep My Epic 4G working with Metro PCS.
I guess he is concerned about data and mms for starters.

I'm definitely on the same boat. I got my phone fully flashed with web and mms working but my build number is Samsung Eclair.DG27! Android 2.1-update1 smh.
Curious about this as well

nice to hear I'm not the only one now, too bad nobody has any suggestions..
All my data settings stay the same after flashing even with odin
But are you on an Epic that was custom rom flashed with Metro PCS?

No im not on metro but its the same concept..... I have major data changes and I've used odin many times and flashed many roms and none of those changes mentioned back to default.... Idk what metro data settings would have to do with going back to default......
Well, the "default" settings are programmed to be a SPRINT phone, with Sprint service. MetroPCS is a prepaid service. The Epic 4G was never meant to work with Metro.. so it had to of course firstly have the ESN# on their systems, and from there, it had to be programmed to work like their phone, otherwise, you won't even get a dial-tone. Its not mission impossible, but an Odin doest keep its Metro Settings, I've Odin'd, upgraded to Froyo, and then Nandroid Restored back to my Custom Rom with Metro Service.
Revival of the past
I know I'm ressurrecting an old thread, but I'd like all users of the Epic Community who are on a custom MetroPCS rom to know the following.
Once you go out of the custom rom you paid for, you sacrifice 3g service, internet/mms.
So unless you're roaming like me, i dont reccommend it. Also, as the duce said, your data programmed settings stay retained.
For the most part, if with metropcs, talk and text.
Make sure you Nand Backup your MetroPCS rom and keep that rom backed up and save somewhere besides your phone if you want to go around experimenting on other roms.
As for re-programming your basic talk/text, you'll need to unlock your epic if not unlocked, then cdma or qpst into your device, and use the lastest evdo metro prl you find and flash that.
after that you'll also need to get on the phone with MetroPCS activation support and have them provide you with the MSID (Min) number unless you already know it, so you can enter that in #000000# (or ##MSL#) terminal mode, and it'll ask for your phone number, hit enter, then on MSID enter the appropriate MIN. and there you go, talk/text will be restored in case you really need to reprogram it.

The only place I knew of was in Dallas, TX. They charge 75 bucks, If only I wasn't foolish enough to delete my rom, I could of distributed it on the XDA forums. =(
They have the Ad on craigslist, I do believe they let you ship the phone to them, but I'm not sure, that'd be at their discretion if they do that. I had found it via craigslist, so try searching there under "flash metropcs" call up those ads, and see if they can properly flash an up to date rom with everything working.

Keep MetroPCS Data Settings? Of course its possible
Man, how much are they paying you to spout this crap? With the correct settings you can get all 3g, internet, mms, google play store and all features (except maybe 4g depending on the provider you switch from). You come pretty close to trolling when you tow the company line like that and tell users that they can't do something when they can. I'd be careful about spreading misinformation if I were you. I've modded several phones on metropcs and gotten great results.

Okay This has been an ongoing thing for me and others. Long story short I would like to have 4g/wimax implemented on my Epic Touch 4g. I have everything else working fine for my lovely phone.4g is the only thing missing. Now for those of those who are new to this topic or have questions this process has been done on the first epic. Either with launcher pro/activities/wimaxlinetest or with dialing *#147852# and accessing wimaxlinetest from there. Now with that also being said first step does not work on epic touch, when you go int eh ability to write epic mac address and save wimax mac id has been removed and that dialer code that I stated earlier does not work on Epic Touch.
Now for things that have been said already.
1."You cannot do it because phone has to be activated to sprint for 4G to be provision" Sprint 3g and 4g radios and provisioning work totally different.3g and 4g authentication works totally different. 3g talks to sprint,4g talks to clearwire.
As long as you have an active sprint account and you have a 4g device you can use same mac address on epic touch 2 that you have on boost.
2."You wont be able to use 4g because phone is not activated what so ever" Phone does not have to be activated to sprint or boost for 4g to work. Please dont tell me that it has to because I still have original 4g epic that is not activated and 4g data works just fine. I still can use youtube, gtalk, google voice, etc.AND AS I STATED EARLIER MY OG EPIC IS NOT ACTIVATED.
3."WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS ANYWAY" I think the better question would be why not. Its my device I payed for it so why not use it how I want to use it. And I know its hard to do but please refrain from filling thread with unnecessary talk about being cheap, why I want to do this, its illegal etc. Because to be honest its pretty much the same principle for rooting and getting the most out of your device. And last time I checked free hotspot and changing roms and things like that are frowned upon to SPRINT so please save it lol. But then again I cannot stop no one for posting on the thread so hey. But please keep it positive or for the most part im just going to ignore you anyway. All I am asking for is help,And I would greatly appreciated it.Bashing is really not going to get us nowhere and sorry if Im coming off a little standoffish, but a great guy who does alot with helping people tried what im trying now, only for the thread to talk about things that had nothing to do with the subject. He got frustrated and decided to delete the thread. Hopefully we can get it resolved this time.
THANK YOU
LETS GET STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. 4G Boost action
Please message me about how you got that quad data to work. I am also on Boost Mobile with my Epic 4g Touch. I have already tweaked the 3G settings (minimal gain, if any) and have been through the "Full WiMax Settings" thread with no change. I can connect but the bits aren't flowing.
NOTE: If anyone needs help going from a Galaxy Prevail to their Epic Touch I can help.
i def need help

So.....im just gonna straight ask if this is possible......i have recently flashed my e4gt using a prevail.now......me like a freaking [email protected]#@#
decided to try and update my data profile and dumb long story short sent my phone back to ffing "hands free activation" now i have nothing on my phone but the meid numbers and nothing else i mean NOTHING.......now my question to you is What do you suggest i should do?
i am curently using verizon prepain services right now but the phones available suck. i have an htc evo 4g that i was using on sprint. what im wondering is if i can flash it to work with verizon prepaid and if so how. now i know there is a post in development but cause im new i cant view it. if someone could help me id be eternally greatful.
I'm in the process of fully flashing my evo to alltel. It's currently activated and data was working for a few hours but has stopped. I can help you get to where I am now.
Use CDMA workshop to get your SPC code.
Plug in your phone using USB cable.
Select "charge only".
Enable "USB debugging" (applications->development).
Dial ##3424# for DM command service.
Download HTC DIAG drivers.
If they don't install automatically, mine didn't, go to devices and printers, find your android device with the exclamation mark. (properties, hardware, properties, driver, update driver, browse my computer..., let me pick..., have disk, browse for your DIAG driver).
Download CDMA workshop and find which port your evo is on. Connect. Go to "Security" tab. Read SPC. Click "write". (You can either remember this code or set it to 000000.)
You're done with CDMA workshop. Exit diag mode on your evo.
EPST
Dial ##3282#. Select edit mode. Use whichever code you decided on in CDMA workshop, either 000000 or the code it was originally set to.
This is where you'll input your Verizon settings.
I'm still working on the Alltel ones. Maybe someone here has advice on how to proceed. Hope this helps.
Where are you stuck at? I have 2 evo 3'ds here and I know how to do it all besides repairing it for verizon. I can do everything else besides that step. Never done a evo (repair)and cant find the answers I need. Almost to the point of buying dfs evolution! LOL
I had a full guide to Flash Evo's to Verizon prepaid but the Admins took it down, right now I have an Evo, Evo 3d, Epic and even a Thunderbolt flashed to VzwPP.
All have full 3G unlimited data along with unlimited voice text and MMS for $50 a month.
Thunderbolt was very hard but the rest was a snap, if you need modded PRL's or anything just give me a shout.

So I think I've seen the question asked before, but this was prior to root.
On my M8 and M7 I was able to use LTE data while on the phone with Sprint. I think I read someplace that with VZ you could call them and ask them to enable something, but not sure about Sprint. Anyone know if this is something that's adjustable via the build.prop file? I know there wasn't anything special I had to do on the HTC devices to make this work - and I can't imagine that it's something that can't work.
Any ideas? Thanks!
