[Q] SMS Draft Issue - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Has anybody experienced a strange problem where messages you've either deleted from the input box and left the SMS app or messages you've sent previously randomly showing up as drafts?

Nobody else? I refuse to believe it's my clumsy fingers

I've see one instance where I sent an MMS, left the app, came back later and wrote a txt to that same person and it sent the image again. Haven't noticed it happening again since.

Yup, it's been a chronic problem for me on every OS version I've tried (granted I've not tried ICS yet), most often occuring with MMS, same as G_ROW's issue.

Yep, I've had this happen to me. I'm not a huge texter but it was annoying when it did it.

Where the hell did my messages go?

Ok so I had just received a text. Went to open from the notification bar and when I did it just took me to the message home screen saying "no conversations". I tried using Handcent to see if it was a glitch in default app but nothing there. Tried restarting and powering off phone. Nothing!
But what's weird is that there is no way in hell it could have actually deleted all those messages that fast (I had a 1500 message thread with one person alone). It's almost as if it just lost access to them.
Yes my phone is rooted and I believe I'm running one of the AOKP roms (been a while since I switched that's why I'm not completely positive)
Never had anything like this happen before, I know the messages have to be there somewhere, it's impossible for a phone this slow to just instantly delete over 2000-3000 messages.
Thanks for any help!

Dont quote me on it but i think text messages are stored in a database in the /data/data/com.android.messaging. I removed messaging from mine and use handcent so i cant really look. Just look for something in /data/data with messaging in the name.
I've had that happen on my original Droid a few times. I think it's caused by a low space thing, (which is extremely common on this device) and I've never found a way to get the texts back if they weren't backed up somewhere else. I agree with you that it's odd how quickly it can delete that many texts, though.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Cmlusco, Yea I checked /data/data and there was nothing there.
godsmacked, But shouldn't I have gotten a low space warning beforehand? My phone seemed fine at the time of doing this. But whatever, I had nothing important there that I needed.
But I still hate having lost all of them, maybe I'm just sentimental and liked having some of those convos. Especially since one was with a special girl (gay I know but whatever)
That happened to my friend who has an Inc as well. I don't see any way to get them back. SMS backup works I think or you can download go SMS to backup as well.

I can verify this happened to me several times using the stock OS. Never happened after I rooted/CM7'd it.

[Q] Mightytext Sync Issues?

Does anyone else have issues with SMS sent directly from the phone not syncing with mightytext?
Texts sent from the mightytext through the browser seem be sync fine but SMS sent directly from the phone don't show up

Yeah, I seem to be having the exact same problem. I also get a warning message from Chrome that says that my phone isn't confirming that messages are being sent (when I send them from Chrome) --- but it appears they actually *are* going out successfully, the confirmation just isn't getting back to Mightytext on Chrome.
Haven't had time to dig deeper / debug, but will share anything I find and hope you'll do the same...

I'm having the same exact issue....did you guys ever figure anything out or hear anything about this? Just got my t-mo G3 yesterday but I'm an avid MightyText user so I've definitely been noticing in. I haven't found anything else in my research either...tried clear data, cache, uninstall/reinstall, but it seems to be an issue with the phone.
I have no problems
I dont use this but my wife does and she doesn't appear to have any issues with it. She is using an completely stock samasung s5 not rooted or anything.

Google Messenger attaching characters to long SMS

Ever since December 23rd or so, when I first rooted my stock Nexus 5X, Google Messenger has been behaving strangely. Long SMS messages have seemingly random characters attached to the end of them, which do not show up on the sender's end. The most common is a "¿", but occasionally I get a delta ∆ on the end. I cannot find anyone else with this problem either here or elsewhere online. Does anyone have ideas? It's not necessarily a problem, but it is a mysterious inconvenience.
I am running the latest update of Marshmallow (stock ROM), with systemless root (SuperSU 2.61 I believe) and TWRP recovery. Nothing else out of the ordinary. This did only become a problem after rooting my phone, which may be part of the problem. Any help would be appreciated!
Edit: it should be noted that while these are valid characters, they do not appear when searched for with Messenger's built-in search function.
just to be sure: these symbols appear on your end after receiving a sms? in that case it would be interesting to know what phones/apps the sender of those uses.
if this is the case with sms you have written, it could be useful to know what keyboard/input method you are using. did you restore your sms' and/or the messenger app from a previous backup?
first thing you could try is clearing the app data and maybe de-/reinstalling possible updates of it.
interested to see how your case turns out, since i never heard of anything like this.

Yes, they are on my end. It has happened so far with iPhone and Android senders using their stock messages application. And I have already cleared cache/data for Messenger with no change. It is a most unusual problem. I may just try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
(I am unable to insert image links, or else I would provide a screenshot)

Also seeing this behavior occasionally, from both iPhone and Android senders. Haven't been able to figure out a pattern yet as it's only happened three times so far (three different senders, one time each). It's the strangest thing. I wish Messenger had some sort of bug reporting utility, since I've found several already.

I have switched to Textra indefinitely, as this does not solve the problem, but does support many features that Messenger is lacking. If you find a way to submit a bug report, I would be interested in that information

Text alerts for *sent* messages as well as received since update

Apologies if I am posting this in the wrong spot. I have a Pixel 2 XL(obviously) and had been on the Android beta program for some time now. The android p beta had been running really solid for me with no issues. So when they pushed it out officially last week i of course went for it. However, all of a sudden now, when *sending* texts, it gives me a notification sound (same as incoming notification). Anyone run into this? I searched the forums briefly but didnt see anyone with the issue although I couldve missed it.
Note- I'm using the Google Messages(I believe thats the official name) app, I just prefer it to Hangouts. I did check the settings, and disabled the setting for outbound notification sounds- but it persists.
Here's the kicker- it cant be isolated to just me, as my mom has the same phone -she messaged me last week and asked if she should update (I'm typically the guinea pig) and I said yep, been rock solid for me.. now she's getting the exact same behavior. So barring it being the messages app itself which i suppose is possible, I dont know.
Thoughts? Suggestions? I havent tried a different messenger app yet, suppose I could(textra maybe), I'm just partial to this one for whatever reason.
Thanks in advance!
Disregard. I guess its specific to Android Messages app. Installed another text app and the issue went no longer occurs.
I have the same issue with my Android Messages app

Pixel 2XL Randomly Not Receiving Texts From Some Contacts - Hit and Miss

So recently I've had an issue with SMS/MMS on my 2XL, it seems some messages are just not getting through to my phone. About 2 months back I had an issue where about 90% of the time I would go to text one specific contact (wife), the messages app (stock app) would crash or hang for an incredibly long period of time. This persisted for a few weeks of many clear cache/revert to old version of app/etc. Finally I just backed up the SMS, cleared all the messages, and then restored them and that seemed to have fixed the problem.
Now, I am missing text messages (per verbal conversation) from a couple of contacts (mom, wife, best friend). It seems 90% of them are coming in but then randomly a few won't make it, which I only discover because the conversation doesn't make sense or I never get a reply and then when we speak in person or on the phone they say "no, I responded immediately, you didn't get the message". The only thing these 3 contacts have in common is that they are probably the most common people I text by far, and the thread of messages is quite long at this point. I also don't know if I am missing messages from other contacts or groups because the whole I don't know what I don't know thing. I also now am getting a few random crashes of the messaging app each day, again it seems when texting my wife.
Anyone else experience this? It's pretty frustrating - figuring it may be a time for a total factory reset and start over but if this is a known issue with a known fix, I would love to avoid the hassle of setting the phone up again.
before factory reset
force stop
delete all data
uninstall all updates
reinstall the app.
I had the same issue but it turned out to be carrier related.
Thanks for the response, was it the same issue with just random messages here and there not making it, but most coming through? Which carrier? I am on AT&T so I will reach out to them as well.
