Swype - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I am running the latest Blazer rom and after I install Swype beta it doesn't open when the keyboard is suppose to.
Any ideas?

I pushed the Swype from syndicate ice rom and all of the sudden I had the same problem I used root explorer went back to the apk and installed it again and now it's working again hopefully this helps?

Use titanium to uninstall, then try again. For some reason I had to do it twice though.

After uninstalling with Titanium Backup, reboot the phone then install the Swype Beta. Works for me every time.

Ah the reboot is probably why i needed to do it twice. Thanks.

Thank you. That actually worked.

Another option
Another thing to try is use Root Explorer to delete the libswypecore.so file from system/lib/ I had to do this and then install the new beta and then it works.

Update swype?

I downloaded the swype installer off the web site and it installs, but just recognizes that it is anyway. Is there a way to update to the latest version?

I'm assuming you went and joined the "beta" to get the installer...that would be the newest version available. So, if you download the installer and it says you're updated...than you are! I've got the most recent version (I believe) and I'm on v 3.25.91D.31083.t100 (you can find this by hitting menu>settings>language & keyboard>Swype at the very bottom should be the version #.
You may need to uninstall the 'stock' Swype before you can install the beta. I used TitaniumBackup (need to be rooted) and it worked fine. It can autospace one letter words correctly now.

Or you could download this and simply install it like a normal app.

I'm using Swype for the original Epic and it works 100% I just renamed the stock Swype with a ".bak" extension and left it in place.

do you still need to uninstall the old version to do this? Thanks

You need to either uninstall the old one or as another poster suggested, rename the stock swype.apk (I opted to keep the stock and renamed it to swype.apk.BAK.) Then install the .apk from the link in this thread and it will work. If you don't uninstall or rename the stock swype.apk, it will revert to stock on reboot.
Is this the all black modded Swype? If not anyone know where I can find it! Been searching high and low, oh yeah already googled
Make sure you delete libswype.so otherwise it will not work

Update broke Market and all of my third-party keyboards (pretty much everything I had to manually put in system/app. Root, however, was not broken.
For good measure, though, I reverted to stock and re-rooted. Re-installed Market and G-Apps framework. No cigar. Market and keyboards are still broken and FC on launch.

Did you use Titanium Backup to convert Market and Keyboards to system apps? Alternatively move them (from /data) into /system/app and set the appropriate permissions/ownership.

Update break market? What a weird thread we have going here. Anyway, this update is annoying, nothing more.

Since the update, I'm getting constant force closes from market when installing apps/opening market. Worked before. Anyone got an idea?
I uninstalled and removed vending.apk from system/apps, I reinstalled it, ensured permissions were solid. Clear data/cache just to be safe.
SuperOneClick/ZergRush confirmed working over here as a re-root method. Market and G-apps confirmed working after re-install, fixing permissions (via root explorer for me) and restarting.

I just re-rooted with the rootkindlefire.com method, market works, root is back, didn't have to fix permissions, only had to reinstall my keyboard.

I suggest trying Titanium Backup and seeing if there is a difference. It has helped me remove any bloat I did not want on my phone on many roms, including stock rooted ICS.

You are getting the super su prompt when launching titanium backup, correct? I've heard some issues with some people not having full root privileges on the stock rom. Try running a darkside cache wipe (in the dev section), reboot phone, and try again.

Please be sure to run the CACHE wipe and not the actual system wipe. Hope this resolves your issue.
download this app called root uninstaller. its so easy and free. i use this app instead because it only does one thing, which is delete any apps on your phone. system apps bloat apps and regular apps. keep it simple.
Could also be su issues. You could try to go in and delete the permissions and try again. Probably an issue with root though. could try a root check, dl updated bb and su, or just start over.
Thanks for the help everyone so far.
I went back to stock gb and rooted. Deleted the bloat
Thanks again!

as I posted in another thread...
You need to be rooted, and need an app to uninstall apps and a file explorer with root access. I used Titanium Backup and ES File Explorer. Make backups if you can to be safe. If you use Titanium Backup, and already have a backup of the Swype beta, keep in mind that you will need to have your max backup settings to 2 or higher.
- Uninstall Swype
- Delete libSwypeCore.so from the directory */system/lib/
- Reboot into recovery and clear the Dalvik cache
- Install Swype!
Beta version - 1.1.1.7628
Sprint version - 1.1.0.7309

To re enable it, make sure the box is checked under LANGUAGE AND INPUT settings. When typing, swipe down to bring down the notification menu and select the option to change the keyboard.
I tried it but after uninstalling it as you said (removed with titanium, deleted the file, and cleaning both caches), when I tried running the beta installer, it keeps telling me that there is no new version for my device....
What am I missing?
When the Sprint version installs it overwrites the beta version, so if you had Swype and Swype beta, you really should uninstall both of them to be sure. The error you seem to be getting is the one I got when I had only removed the release version of Swype, not the beta/sprint version .
Double check to be sure neither one is installed. You can also check the following directories if you don't see it.
*/system/app
*/data/app

Ok, I uninstalled both, swype AND the beta installer, and then reinstalled the beta installer and this time IT WORKED!!!
Thank you!!!

Flashed new camera, now it freezes!

So,
I flashed the new camera that was released for android 4.3 on my S3.. it worked fine, so I used titanium backup to uninstall the other camera on my CM10.1.2 rom. Anyways, now I notice that I get alot of "cannot connect to camera" errors when I try to launch the app, and sometimes when it does launch, when I take a picture, it freezes and I have to force close the app...
Anyways, since I uninstalled the original camera app I had before, what are my options now?
You probably have to reflash (clean not dirty) the ROM since you messed with a system app. Did you make a back up though?

Just use root explorer and go into the zip file of the rom and find the camera apk. Delete the current camera apk then copy it and paste it into your system/apps. Click the apk and install it.
