What feature are you looking forward to the most? I've played around with the devs super rom and I've got to say it feels on like its on a whole other level than gingerbread. I'm looking forward to see how the face unlock goes.

I'm honestly excited obviously for vanilla ICS, but what I'm really excited about is what HTC is gonna do with sense 4.0 (as stated in another thread). They haven't failed to amaze yet (at least those who are sense fans) and I can't see how they'd let anyone down on the new functionalities of ICS.
I'm interested in sense ICS as well. Some sense Roms are a hit or miss to me so I'm excited to see how it would turn out.

I can't wait for asop vanilla ICS. I've been trying out the early dev mods and ICS is really impressive.
I'm incredibly excited about it. I really love the changes to the notification bar and the multi task app manager.

What's movie studio really going to do? I would personally never use my smartphone for editing more than a pic in photoshop express, much less try to touch up video.
For multi-format playback, I use MX Player with the Arm v7 codec for hardware acceleration. There is nothing that I've found that it can't play.

It's not so much about that as being able to touch up videos on the go. I consider imovie to be one of the top features on the iPhone and this will satisfy that need. It will basically turn the camcorder from a fun little gadget to a usable and valuable tool!

Am I the only one who's really not terribly impressed with ICS? Actually pretty unimpressed overall? Of course, I want to clarify that by saying that I'm referring to the actual OS, not the current port to our phone. The guys working on that have done am amazing job.
But for the actual OS, I'm just not seeing what's so groundbreaking. I think the only feature I see that's actually nice is the auto-creation of folders. Aside from that, everything else is either ho-hum, or catch-up features.
-Scrollable and realizable widgets have existed on alternate launchers forever now. Nice to finally have them natively, but not terribly exciting.
-New app drawer layout is OK, but again, nothing groundbreaking. Moving all the widgets inside the drawer seems more inefficient than long-pressing on a home screen, especially if you have to scroll through several pages of widgets to locate your desired one.
-Face Unlock is a nice trick, but again, inefficient (or downright useless) for those who don't secure their phones in the first place. A quick flick of the thumb is hard to top as far as speed and ease go.
-NFC? Well, our phone doesn't have it to begin with, but even if it did, it's usefulness is pretty limited for the foreseeable future. How many times do you really transfer files between Android phones?
-The new UI, personally, I find pretty ugly. It's almost a total lack of any style, it's all lines and solid boxes. I suppose that's a style in itself, but I can't say it's a terribly pleasing one.
-The new search widget is now plastered on the top of every home screen, can only be removed by disabling the Google Search app, and upon doing so, you still can't reclaim the space used by the widget for icons or other widgets. I barely search on my phone enough to justify the current widget being placed on a single home screen, so to have one permanently on every screen is a PITA.
-The new camera features are nice, but at the end of the day, it's a camera phone. If I'm looking to take real photos, I'll use a real camera.
I don't know, the more useable the devs get their port, the more I've had a chance to play with ICS, and the more I'm convinced that, far from eliminating the need for carrier overlays, in my opinion, ICS actually makes them more valuable and necessary than they are today.
I honestly hate to say this, because I had been very much looking forward to it, but to me, the new UI just feels extremely unfinished and unimaginative, and the OS overall doesn't seem to break any new ground whatsoever.
I can't see HTC being able to do much with the ICS. Their brand recognition seems to rely on that huge weather clock and that general layout of sense that they have been using on every phone now. I can't see a lot of these "signature" stuff translating well into ICS, since most of it relies heavily on the gingerbread rom, which ICS seems to diverge quite a lot from.

Not sure I follow you. They can still build all their widgets for ICS, they can still replace the launcher with a Rosie'd version - a big phone button at the bottom with web and customize buttons on either side, and they can still skin the overall UI - the notification bar, icons, etc.
I just don't see how ICS, in any way, eliminates or negates the value manufacturers see in their overlays. And as the new UI aesthetics is unarguably more "love it or hate it" than previous versions of Android, I actually see overlays being even more attractive to the average consumer who might be comparing an Android phone to an iPhone.

Everything being so big on the screen cause of the resolution..?
I'm an OG Epic 4g user so naturally I was going to get the ET4G, I went into the sprint store to try it out and wow... everything looks huge on it. Icons, pulldown icons, etc. Now to be fair it probably is because I'm used to my 5x5 Grid settings on Go Launcher on my 4in screen, but I don't know it I'd be able to coop with things being that large on the phone.
What's your experiences and how are you guys managing with it like that?
Not knocking the phone in any means, just caught me off guard when I played with the demo and everything looked like I accidently held Control on my computer keyboard and scrolled up on the desktop haha.

Ehhh I've never been a fan of big screens and low resolutions.
My laptop is 17in and I run it at Max 1920x1200 resolution, everyone that uses it says they don't know how I can handle text being that small lol.
The Prime is suppose to be a higher Res though right? Wonder if it'll look the same though since the screen is also bigger...

Took me about 2 minutes to get used to it coming from a 3D. The only thing that really looked different to me was the notification bar...everything else kinda looks exactly the same.
The only thing I don't like about the nPrime and new Samsung "HD" models is the aspect ratio....16:9 SUCKS. Unless you've had a qHD device you don't know....your screen is so damn narrow (or short, depending on orientation) and it's annoying. Even though the resolution you gain from it more than makes up for it, the form-factor itself is extremely irritation (to some)...The only thing I miss from my EVO3D is the qHD resolution, but, the one thing I miss the least is the 16:9 aspect ratio....
...unfortunately it seems as though 16:9 is the new standard, so, this will likely be our final phone that isn't 16:9...
infuriating.
The ET is only usable to me with the density/dpi (there are apps in the market) changed down to 200 or lower. This breaks the layout of something TW things, but is worth it, especially for someone like me who runs as close to AOSP as possible and uses aftermarket apps for everything anyway.
At the regular resolution, this phone would be entirely unusable in my opinion.
For what it's worth, the lack of qHD isn't too bad. The other positives of the screen (super contrast, vibrance) subconsciously make up for the difference.
About 20 seconds. My big worry was the on-screen keyboard, but with a screen this size, I'm faster on it than I was my old epic keyboard....and it doesn't skip keys. Also, the camera is a major improvement over the Epics in every way except audio. I'm looking into getting an external microphone.

Ah I never knew of those apps! so from what I understand, they do make everything smaller like I'm saying?
You may have just swayed me back to the ET4G haha.
Something else I realized too though that only Epic users would feel, is that it feels well... Like the same ole tthing.. (Of course bigger and upgraded) but I'm not really sure I felt the "New" factor when I was using the ET.. feel like the Prime may make me feel the sensation of a new experience..
I completely understand you E3D users and you guys coming from other phones and the ET being a new experience for ya, but for me coming from a Epic its felt.. well the same lol
But I don't know if that's good or bad, I felt at home when I was using it.. But whats the point in buying a new house if they have the same floor-plan lay out so to say ..

Sounds like a lot of us was expecting that EVO 4g experience, expecting to be blown away. I agree I haven't had a major wow factor since then. I don't see a quad core phone doing much for me either.
I set my dpi to 200 by editing the build prop, on the evo3d it was 190. Personally to me it the stock dpi looks like its set for people who are vision impaired.
I use a dialer app to fix the uneven look of the stock dialer.
What are you guys using to change the dpi? and the dialer?

To me, having Flash work in the browser and the ability to change font size was all I needed to see to sell me on it, the screen that is. I haven't even felt the need to root yet. Every other phone I've had, I had to root to tether so I could hook my UMPC up for browsing and whatnot. Since I bought this I haven't even turned the UMPC on.

I hear ya. Coming from an E3D it definitely has a new "floor plan"...
...however coming from the E4G to the E3D that also definitely had a totally different feel to me. 16:9 screen, qHD, Sense 3.0 (I hate sense)...and it sucked. All I wanted was the newest hardware. I didn't actually want anything else. The upgraded "experience" involves changing a lot of things that aren't technical upgrades and are entirely matters of opinion--and that leaves a lot of areas to screw up. Opinion can be a ***** like that.
So, excepting "experience" there is only hardware upgrading. This is definitely that....and while it might feel like a faster smoother version of the same ol' thing, Samsung's idea of a new 'experience' might be far more offensive than you would suspect.
I just downloaded tw 4.5 and set the app drawer to display a higher number of apps and the homescreen to do the same (more rows) Launcher pro can do the same. Also you can adjust the LCD density.
As for the original question, it didn't take any time to adjust to the larger screen although when I try to use my wife's OG epic I do notice how much smaller it is and that takes a minute to get used to. Also, I can't believe how slow the OG epic feels now that I'm used to everything happening almost instantly...

I didn't use the epic 1, I didn't and wouldn't pay full price for this phone, I had a friend sign up for sprint and took her new contract discount. She got my MoPho I only had for about a month.
First of all qHD pentile displays are technologically and visually inferior to the samoled display in the E4GT. This is without a shred of doubt the best display in the world right now. There are rumors that sammy is taking qHD where it needs to be at a bare minimum with the prime at a full 720p resolution. Please don't try to compare fake high res pentile photon or 3d crap to a amoled masterpiece like what the e4gt has. We'll see what samsung is able to pull off with qHD soon since samsung is the worlds cutting edge innovator in displays. I think samsungs real deal high res qHD displays comming out won't have screen door effect.

We were comparing my SGN to my friends 2 year old windows phone. He was interested in browser speed and performance so I showed him, then he showed me his, then I got sad. I can hear the jokes starting, lol...
His windows browser was silky smooth, zooming in and out, and even the rotating was great. I read somewhere that Google did that rotaing delay so it won't accidentally rotate while in your pants or something like that. Well I don't want that, I would like that option. And I know for a fact it can rotate instantly and fluently. I say this because if you open stock camera, and rotate it around, the small indicators and gallery preview rotate flawlessly and silky smooth. Is it the ram? Why would a 2 year old device out perform a 1.2 processor these days in browser performance? I'm a little bummed.
And let me not mention that multi task soft button... And info would much be appreciated, thanks...
I guess we would need to know what model of windows mobile phone your friend had to start off.

Ask him if he wants to trade. I can have a guess as to who is getting the better deal
Also, if its an HTC Trophy, it was released May 2011. Hardly a 2-year old phone as you described in OP
I mostly have 2 things to say: 1) By most accounts the SGN has one of the fastest browsers of any mobile device (benchmark wise) and 2) You'd be pleasantly surprised how well WP7 performs on a single core 1ghz processor.
People really need to kick the stigma on WP7. Its not a POS platform. You shouldn't be surprised that it performs like it should.
It has to do with how each OS handles UI rendering and what gets loaded. Go to a site that requires flash and you'll start seeing limitations in WP

I see your point but thats not the best comparison. Specifically choosing a site that only will load fully on one of the devices doesn't prove that device is better.
Loading a page that both devices can render fully and seeing which one does better (in benchmarks and look/feel) is the best head to head comparison.

It's one of my fave new features, just laggy... But I am running stock. It did release May, still half the ram... But he was amazed by the speedy UI stock and, of course, the screen...
WP 7 is just a faster UI and is more efficient than android in a lot of ways.
Also consider that his phone isn't pushing as many pixels as yours.
Microsoft has really focused on UI speed and touch response in WP 7, and it's pretty obvious when using one of those devices.
Even with ICS, android just doesn't match WP7 in terms of touch response and UI fluidity.
Nothing wrong with your device or his device. They're both great devices for different reasons.
4.03 helps quite a bit with the multi-tasking button lag, though.. so you'll see that improve when you get that update in the next few weeks.
Its been known that Microsoft went all out with windows phone and made the smoothest UI of all time and did extremely low level drivers with qualcom to get such performance out of the snapdragon chip set. Its the most fluid smooth UI I've ever seen. I'm just glad ice cream sandwich moved in that direction finally.

I thought ICS was supposed to have hardware acceleration so the graphics don't burden the CPU ? So, if anything, the nexus should have an advantage over the Windows phone.

Well the Windows phones are all single core as well. I would doubt that ICS will ever compete on a single core. Even the hardware on the nexus struggles to run it. I guess in a month or so when the quads and higher clocking phones come out with ICS, we will get to see how they compare. Thats why I ditched my GN's. I just don't think the hardware is enough for ICS. I went back my trusty Atrix 2, slapped an ICS theme on it, and it does everything better than the nexus.
It's really not a fair comparison, looking at one particular aspect. WP7 has only one resolution, much lower than the GNex. All the graphics are simpler, and it can't run all the things in the background.
It's like comparing a hot air balloon to a helicopter, based on how smooth they are.

Agree about the simplererer graphics. I am loving the metro theme they uave going. Simple, yet elegant. But nothing beats Android as far as customization and personalization goes...
I tell everyone if two people were to drop their ihones, and I were to pick them up I wouldn't be able to differentiate one by the other because they all look the same, maybe except for the background but you can't even tell since all those static icons are in the way I have no idea where I am going with this so yea....

I think we need to be more imaginative here guys. My sgs2 had a better camera and also had screen shots! Let's think of UNIQUE ICS features. Like Face Unlock ...
I like the way it looks - feels sleek and futuristic (phone and ICS both). Previous builds were ugly and looked outdated.
As far as features, I like the potential of on screen keys as well as how it looks. I abhor the non Nexus buttons on all other android phones.

Yea, I noticed that too. It is not present on my previous Nexus S with 4.0.3. So is it indeed GN specific ?
Just ICS in general.
Love the multitasking and the new way to add widgets
NFC. Google Wallet it cool

Slimness of the phone and overall physical device.
The on screen buttons. They give the phone a much sleeker look whilst also minimizing the size of the phone. I also like how the buttons can disappear to give a bigger screen when needed.

Love the video effect and the multitask on ICS
Showed my sister the phone and we compared the browsing speed with her Iphone4S.
Galaxy nexus won every single time and she couldn't believe at all - still in denial state.
Must admit her iphone 4s camera is better though. Haha
I enjoy the hardware its self, its sleek and sexy! I also like the curved screen

If I have to pick a single thing then it's the zero shutter delay for the camera. Really love ICS features in general though.

The Answer Call screen where I can choose to send preconfigured text messages as reply. GOD BLESS! Uses it several times each day during working hours.
Hardware acceleration.
The recent apps implementation with WebOS-like cards is nice too.
The ability to swipe away recent apps and notifications to get rid of them features prominently on my list.
Resizeable widgets are also nice, and are unique to ICS on phones at least.

Zero (almost) delay shutter speed on the camera is a welcome change coming from my DroidX. Wish the picture quality was a little better, but it's not bad. I suppose that's what the SLR is for.
Also, loving Google wallet. So far today, Google has bought me; a cup of coffee, a bag of lettuce and a can of folgers... all for installing the wallet app. It always seems to get an amusing reaction when i use it in front of people. Enjoy the novelty before others start jumping on the bandwagon.
Using L7 to replicate my beloved Metro. The extra space is phenomenal for the interface.
I used to do it with my Galaxy S. launcher, sms app, twitter app... everything I could find on metro, I would use.
Then I got the Lumia and believe me, there's no styling on Android that will ever make it resemble the actual thing. It's way more than just a theme.

I agree with everything you said.
Launchers aren't a good representation of another OS, specially not WP7.
Obviously a launcher can't reproduce an ecosystem...however I'm pretty sure that this fall we'll be able to see some huge Apollo device with an HD screen, basically a WP Note. I doubt that Samsung will drop the ball on that after Win8 and Apollo launch, assuming that it will look promising. Oh well, just wait and see

It actually is. You should try both out at the same time. Aside from metro not carrying through all the L7 apps, its very similar.

Heh, I know but that's what WP UI is all about IMHO...
Also the way everything is rendered is quite different, apparently Android and WP run in a very different way. What I really like about the WP UI is how everything "flows" in a very natural way, and how the apps (at least most of em) feel like melting into the OS when you open or close them. It feels kinda like a "living being" more than a software thing, if you get what I mean. I'm not really talking about fluidity here, because probably a GS3 is more fluid and operates way faster than any WP device, it's the whole experience as it's packed that gives you overall a different, warmer feeling. That's what I think out of my broken mind at least

Do you have the people tile and its cool animations all the time? Can you pin specific people to the screen? do their tiles animate? Does the gallery app keep changing pictures?
Or is it just a frozen picture of WP7?

Some of that does work, yes. But for myself, right now, I need to use Android. This is a nice reminder of one of my favorite OS and a proof of concept on a high resolution large screen WP seriously rocks.

yep, got it. guess it depends on just how deep into the UI / app interactions one goes. on the surface, very similar. as soon as an app is opened, they fall apart in similarities.
then again, alllll the apps are different on android/ios.
Evening all,
I am a long time lurker on this forum, and I have noticed that a lot of you have got Android phones so I was after a bit of advice.
Currently, I have had the pleasure of using an iPhone 4 for the last two and a bit years. It has been a spectacular phone and with the combination of iTunes for management, it had made everything a lot easier. However, with the launch of the iPhone 5 I personally feel that the ‘enhancements’ made do not warrant the extra expenditure, so I am looking for a change.
My next phone of choice is probably going to be the Samsung Galaxy note 2; which, I have read a number of reviews and watched a variety of different YouTube videos showing its features and functionality. I was looking at buying this on a 24 month contract with 3UK but there are a few little things stopping me.
First, from the management side of things, is there anything like iTunes for the Android platform, secondly is Android as fluid as iOS as I know a few early adopters who used Android and it was one of my primary decisions to go to iOS and lastly what is the build quality like on the Samsung devices?
Thanks in advance!
Do yourself a favour and get Tunesync. It syncs your iTunes library perfectly over wifi - to this day it's the only way I know to get iTunes libraries to your phone without the album art etc screwing up.
Saying that, there's always Spotify too!
In terms of build quality, the Note 2 is a mile ahead of the S3 and has a far better screen, although the sheer size difference may make your head spin. Android runs great provided you get a custom ROM, Android revolution HD is my favourite as it's a very fine tuned version of the ROM it comes with. In fact, after the hideous iOS 6 update to my ipad 3 I'd say my Android is smoother.

I have been offered the note 2 on three with £30 discount.
I love the way the iPhone works, but I want something that is a little different. What about app synchronisation? How is this done with android?
I'll make this short and sweet.
In terms of build quality, iphone much is better.
It terms of anything else, note 2 is better.

I totally agree you pay much more for the build quality, thats why iphones are expensive.
I have been very disappointed by the quality of the note2, let's start with the usb cable not working out of the box, a small scratch on the screen out of the box too, and a little bit deformed back cover (camera hole didn't fit perfectly).
Otherwise, I think it is a real smartphone, not a tinny cute Iphone.
How the note 2 is better? It is a computer like not a normal phone, you throw any media file in it and play it, you can use the stylus for working by writing notes on pdf files, highlighting sentences, signing docs, making plans... The extra real estate screen fot browsing Web and i mean, real browsing, not playing it cool with a 4inch toy, you can even use the stylus the way you use the mouse. And finally usb otg, just stick a usb drive and copy, cut, create docs or files or whatever you want.
I can't keep on, but as I said, you will use a smart phone for the first time in your life (if you are coming from iphones as you said) windows smartphones where very cool, but android is taking over.

-Screen size. Speaks for itself.
-Battery life. Probably the second best battery life on a smart phone, second only to RAZR MAXX.
-S-Pen(which comes with a whole set of features far too long for me to list here.)
-A lot of cool and useful features (multi Window, smart stay, smart rotation, direct call, pop up video player, pop up browser, swipe to screen shot and much more)
-Jelly bean (4.1.1) out of the box, official 4.1.2 coming soon.
-Quad core 1.6GHz processor, which is faster than iphone 5 dual core A6 processor.
-2GB ram.
- Feature rich camera. (best shot, best faces, low light, hdr, burst mode, panorama, face detection, share shot, smile detection, timer, anti shake + 12 effects + set exposure value +auto focus & macro focus etc...)
-micro sd card. Enough said. Allows you to add up to 64gb of additional storage. (64gb SanDisk card cost 40 or 50 dollars in amazon, or somewhere around that).
-removable battery, should for whatever reason the 3100mah be not enough for you, you can buy a spare one. Although you probably won't need one because like I said the battery life in this phone is amazing.
On top of my head, these things . I still haven't gone into the tens of dozens things what android can do that IOS simply can't, and I really don't want to since that'll take a lot of typing, and you can Google this stuff.
Also I strongly disagree with above who said that you NEED a custom rom. In my opinion, the stock experience in this phone is excellent and touchwiz is hugely improved than what it was before. You can get custom rom if that's you're thing, but you certainly don't need them. Only thing I'd advise anyone to do is to root their phone.

You can mention thousand points why Note 2 is better, but the point is how many points are actually applicable in real life usage.
Anyway, replying to OP's query, well in short, NO, Android is NOT smoother or as smooth as iOS 6, in fact it is not smooth like the previous iOS, and I am talking about Jelly Bean 4.1. Well I am using both iPhone and Android/Samsung flagships for over three years now. I have never ditched my iPhone 4S for anything, but I just sold it for iPhone 5. I purchased Note 2 because I loved the S-Pen idea, the screen size. But being said that, when I scroll through my contacts, or some apps, my iPhone 5 is LOT smoother than my Note 2. Jelly Bean might have a name like 'Project butter' but iOS has the real butter.
Also, keep in mind that Android applications (Play Store) are NO MATCH for App Store. Yes, there are several crap in App Store, but more in Play Store, and the overall quality is pretty bad.
I love both my devices for several different reasons, so can't ditch either of them. And another thing about Android users you will see is their pathetic fanboys. They don't even mind a laggy, buggy, crappy device, they just want openness, now I never found out what is openness, the craze of CM ROM's maybe?
Now build quality, well boy, what can say but plastic? Well, Note 2 has all plastic. So I will not comment on it's build quality. Some kids will say glass will break easy, well lets drop both iP5 and Note 2, then see.
So, IMO, if optimization, fluidity and smoothness of OS matters to you big time then stick with iPhone 5, for all the other reasons go with Note 2, and if you have spare money to burn, then have both.
Now you see I have skipped all the cons about iOS, why? Because you know them already.
I am NOT a fanboy of either iOS or Android, I hate them.
I am used to prime-evil OSs, as over the last few years I have had a variety of devices ranging from Symbian os to windows mobile 3,4 and 5. All have their advantages and disadvantages, I loved windows mobile As it had fantastic email client support and a lot of apps (2003-2005 era) and I like Symbian for its simplicity and the devices Nokia created like the E90’ But since transitioning to the iPhone I have found a fantastic yet restrictive user experience.
The restrictiveness with apple is one of the main reasons they have created a fantastic App Store, whereas the Nokia and wimo stores back in the day were utter gash.
Do you get many problems with android apps? Do the fill the screen? I remember reading early reports that android apps were not filling the screen on some devices and on others refuse to run. This is something that would annoy me.

Uh, let's just say in my experience compared to my other android phones, that hasn't been the case yet.
And for the record, Android revolution HD is just the stock rom that's been tweaked, just to counter the "custom rom" misinformation in this thread.

They fit the screen. At least the one I use, and I don't install anything I see. I first see if it's labeled as 'Top developer' or 'Editors choice', then I see the users rating. Just for an example, a good sports app, Score Mobile, labeled as Top developer, available in Play Store. I already was used to this app from my iPhone 4S. It was so smooth, so fluid in iOS, but when I use it on my Note, oh boy, I have never seen an app could lag/stutter like that. Now if this is an app labeled as 'Top Developer' then imagine the apps which are not labeled in anything.
I was an I phone user for 2 years then switched to galaxy s2 and now note 2. The I phone is idiot proof and everything just works but android is catching up. The apps are all full screen any phone and just as good as ios. The real beauty of android is if you don't like something rhen just change it. You can change anything from keyboard to launcher and widgets are a godsend. Got to say I'm really impressed with google now its spookily good, its like it can read my mind

I switched from iPhone 4 to Note 2 in this week.
I'm very satisfied. The only problems that i have noticed are:
- Bad email clients (even those from the market. iOS Mail is much better to use)
- Bad space management (it's impossible, i have a giant 5.5" screen and Messages app is impossible to read decently with the keyboard open)
- Best app quality in iOS (Whatsapp messenger for iOS has more options, like custom ringtones for every single contact)
- Bad display quality if you not see it directly in front of you (iPhone has IPS, which is the best display for view angles)
- Some strange response when i receive a notification. If that is a SMS the phone rings, display turns on etc, if that is a mail, i receive only a notification sound, no display on. And seems that is no way to change this.
- Apps like Facebook Messenger, that has a unique notification tone on iOS, doesnt' have that particular ringtone here, but they use a default tone chosen by the user. And that is the default tone for ALL the application that doesn't permit to personalise it.
I know that there will be solutions for a lot of this things, they will be hidden somewhere but hey, it is a huge waste of time.
Besides, it is a great phone. Great sound quality, great battery, great screen and it has so powerful hardware that it results more smooth than iPhone 4. And it's Android, which means infinite personalization and possibility to use custom roms for reaching better battery life (i suppose), better personalization, better user experience.
Sorry for my english, i'm an italian user. :fingers-crossed:
Music sync can be done with either double twist and tunesync, they both mirror itunes libraries and playlists etc.
I've been a user of the iphone 4 for 2 years and the note 2 is a HUGE improvement. People that say ios never lagged are just lying lol. iOS lagged and apps crashed on my iphone several times.
From the opinion of someone thats been on both sides, I honestly could not go back to an iphone. Mainly because of the screen size of the note 2 makes iphone screens seem too small for me to use anymore. But to each his own. Its about what suits you.
Stock rom on the note 2 is fine. I only get a lag when opening the S-Note app and a slight delay when opening the contacts app. Other than that everything has run smooth even with 3 browser windows open at once and a video playing at the same time.
As for app syncing, why? lol. I never understood the point of it on iOS and always disabled it.
app quality is definitely more refined in iOS. But improving slowly on android finally.
edit: @ the guy above my post: you can change most notification tones in the individual app settings. Facebook -> menu -> settings -> notification tone
In what way is the stock email client bad? :S I find it miles ahead of the iOS email client because you can actually attach multiple files at once. Plus for me, it is easier to use. I find the iOS mail client to be garbage. But again, thats my opinion
If iOS email client is garbage then I see fanboyism again here? And no one said iOS never lagged.
Anyway, I don't wanna argue.

Lol no fanboyism here. Just my opinion. I used the iphone for 2 years and the app honestly annoyed me because it felt so limited. I actually do find the stock android one better. I dont count it as fanboyism as I genuinely used both and gave both a try instead of blindly bashing one without experience.
As for the lagging. My bad, I misread one of the earlier posts. But in general I do find my friends claiming that ios never lags.

I would say go for nexus 4 instead it has best software and is better than iPhone 5 in terms of fluidity also it has s4 pro processor faster quad core processor presently for mobile.
Only problem is space if it doesn't bother then go for it I used nexus 4 yesterday and it is awesome a bit better than s3 overall I feel , note 2 was too big for me when I used.
I think nexus 4 was the only phone I have used and is way fluid than iPhone, note 2,galaxy s3

I see that the discussion took a turn to android vs. ios. I guess this is inevitable in these kind of topics. Anyways, here's my take, and I've used both operating systems.
-IOS has the advantage in a number of things. For one, there are way fewer devices to worry about. After all, the IOS is exclusive to Apple devices, which you can count on your finger tips. Android, on the other hand, runs on literally hundreds of devices (a side-effect of being open-source). Naturally, this has it's advantages and disadvantages. For instance, app developers for the IOS, for instance, can make sure that their apps work flawlessly in the Iphone, with all its models, and the Ipad, with all its models, before pushing that app into the market. An advantage of using an open source OS would be that manufacturers don't have to pay for using it in their devices, and as such can offer their devices at lower prices due to lower costs. Another advantage of being open source is that each one can manipulate the system however they like to make it unique than the others and add to it whatever they want (eg: Samsung's Touchwiz, HTC's sensation).
-Google and Apple have completely different philosophies. Apple believes in a "walled garden" approach. Meaning that they'll reject any app unless it fits to their criteria. Of course, what works for Apple in this case can't work for Google. If Google rejected any app that doesn't work perfectly with all android devices, their market would be a ghost town. Consequently, an app developer in android can release an app even if it doesn't play nice with all devices. Most of them will then update it to make it as perfect as possible (at least for the popular android devices) taking into consideration user feedback. Having said that, you'll be hard pressed to find an app that doesn't run on an android device, unless that device is old/obsolete/runs on a very old version of android. To put things in perspective, I still haven't run into an app or a game that don't work well in my note 2 or doesn't fill the entire screen, the same app would work perfect in my old Galaxy S2 before I sold it, which has a much smaller screen and used to run on Android v. 2.3 (this brings me to my next point, read below).
- Largely because it is open sourced, Android is a much more flexible OS. What do I mean by this? Well, take for example the jump from 3.5" Iphones to the now new screen size 4" in the Iphone 5. Most apps in the apple store would get letterboxed until the developers update them to support the new screen size, even though the increase in screen size is only 0.5". I've yet to run into a game or an app that doesn't fill my 5.5" screen in the note 2. If there are any, and probably there are, they would be rare.
- It's difficult to go wrong with IOS because it's a bare-boned operating system (all you really have is an app drawer.. i.e: a bunch of icons on the screen). For the most, the iOS now looks exactly how it did back in 2007. Even the notification slider (which was copied from android) is nowhere as good as it is in android. If that's all you'll ever need or want, then by all means, stay with the Iphone, because you're going to get much more than that moving to Android. It hard to go wrong when you don't actually add anything major. Of course, that's not to say Apple doesn't add things. They are masters in the art of adding things (say for example, the notification slider, rejecting a call with a message, or Panorama mode in the camera) and then calling it revolutionary, notwithstanding the fact that such things existed in other OS's for years.
Like I said this could go on for pages, and it really doesn't have to. Once you understand the concept of a 'closed' system vs. an 'open' system, you'll understand the major advantages and disadvantages of each. Having understood that, you decide for yourself which one is the best one for you. For me personally, I'd rather have device that runs Froyo than one that runs the on the latest iOS 6.
