Hey.
I want to install a new kernel on my Galaxy Mini running Gingerbread (2.3.6)
to overclock its CPU.
But my quesiton is.
- Will the new kernel give a difference design to homescreen and other stuff to my phone? or it will be the same as with the old kernel, jUST i'LL BE able to overclock it?
- If I install the new kernel, and I want the old back, can I do it?
Or the old kernel will be deleted and won't be able to get it again?
- If its yes to the other question, How can I backup my kernel?

hi all !
i just flashed cm 10.1 official and it is great so far except for the superuser issue
so i tried to flash a franco kernel as i always do , franco r325 and all my phone went dead force crashing everywhere , without panicking i formatted my phone and i downloaded the r345 kernel but it seems to be an img file something cwm can't flash so i decided to try trinity kernel but i am not sure which is made for 4.2 so i am not taking the risk of flashing a random one then it struck me ...why do i even need to flash kernels anyway? isn't stock kenel the same? so can someone enlightnen me?
Custom kernels allows you to overclock and undervolt the CPU and GPU.
Some custom kernels also add extra features that a stock kernel does not have; fast charge mod, kernel sound mod etc.
kernels control pretty much every aspect of your device. they connect your cpu to your os and hardware. custom kernels add functuality that isnt included with the stock kernel, as well as performance and battery enhancements. google the the word kernel or linux kernel for more info.
now about your issue.. cm made some modifications that made many custom kernels non bootable on cm. franco kernel in the img format isnt flashable via recovery but is flashable via fastboot or the franco kernel app. trinity kernels latest 4.2.1 kernel is alpha10, but the 4.1.2 kernels also run on 4.2.1.
Hey ,
So I was thinking of flashing either Doomkernel or Lupus and I was wondering what are the advantages of flashing a custom rom other than ability to over and under clock ? Also is stock kernel more stable and should i stick to it or go for cutom kernel ? And which one of Lupus or Doomlernel you recommend and which one is better for battery ? Also Is custom kernel worth it If I am not going to over or under clock much ?
Also more importantly can I go back to stock kernel later if i want ?
Thanks
Use custom kernel and start overclocking. Thats all you need to know.

Yes u can go back to stock kernel by flashing stock.ftf file via flashtool there is a thread in general with all firmwares. Search for "xperia play firmwares". Also my kernel is based on DooMLoRDs but just updated/few more features. Personally I feel theres a difference. Try it out and see if u like it. If you dont just simply flash the STOCK ftf via flashtool and your back to the way it was.

after flashing a lot of roms i decided to go back to the stock android 2.3.6 rom. of course i kept the root. Now i got a few questions:
1 set cpu control dont let me overclock higher then 800mhz. Why is that? Normally i could overclock untill 1.2 ghz.
2 Can i just flash a kernel? And if, could somebody give me the best kernel + link.
Thnx

1) you need a kernel with overclock support.
2) you need a kernel for stock rom so not cm based.
This is a stock ROM with oc support and root.

There are also stock kernels from Phiexz and Delanoister but I don't have them on pc.
Ok just tried a different Rom in my i9195 LTE Phone, small lag nothing major
I like JB Rom layout better (my own preference)
Google this as I dont want to link to another site where I found the Rom : NEW_MOD-ROM STOCK GT-I9195-XXUBML4
So would a Kernel fix the lag? if so which one?
hi all, same Q like in the title - which ROM (and kernel) can be overclocked in TAB_3_8 ?
currently running custom ROM but as this is only 2-core CPU it is slow,
I'd like to squize a bit from it before considering another tablet, so please advise which ROM do you have overclocked and any advices welcome
PS.remember having this TAB overclocked back when Android was 4.2.2 but cant find anything for 4.4.4
THANK YOU!
