1. iPhone 5
2. iPhone 4s
3. iPhone 4
4. iPhone 3Gs
5. iPhone 3G
Insert witty catch phrase here.

1. GS2 ET4G
- Fastest, lighest, brightest, battery life, camera, etc, etc. Will really deserve #1 after LoS is fixed.
2. iPhone 4S
- Too tough to compete with the iphone in terms of reliability, speed, etc. Retina display is nice, although not as bright as SAMOLED+.
3. Photon 4G
- Reliable, World Phone, Pretty, decently fast, decent battery life, well built. Minus for Blur being the worst UI out there + PenTile.
4. EVO 3D
- Quick, nice screen, decent battery. Lousy camera(s), 3D is so so depending on the content. Similar to photon with worse camera, radios, and build quality.
5. Nexus S 4g
- Pure google trumps everything else even if the specs are any better on the others.

1. Epic Touch 4G
Pros
- Great Battery Life!
- Pulldown toggles
- Large screen
- Super Amoled Plus
Cons
- LoS frequent
- Soundpool bug
- Hard to edit in XMLs!
- Samsung being in charge of updates.
2. Epic 4G
Pros
- Super Amoled
- physical keyboard
- battery life
- Pulldown toggles
Cons
- Samsung being in charge of updates.
- GPS borked.
3. Nexus S 4G
Pros
- Google support
- Amoled Screen (only looked good when rooted and had VooDoo mod enabled.)
- AOSP friendly
Cons
- Battery Life wasn't good unless using a customized kernel.
- No pulldown toggles.
4. EVO 3D
Pros
- Dual Core
- Strong 4G radio
- EVO has loads of development.
Cons
- Externel Speakers are terrible.
- music player randomly skipped when AUX cable was touched.
- Battery Life
5. Katana Sanyo
Pros
- 2 week battery life
cons
- not android

You guys are silly. I hope you know I was kidding. The ET4G is fantastic. F the iPhone
Insert witty catch phrase here.

ET4G and then I would stop since I have it and don't care about the others haha. This phone does what I need, but find the one that does for you. I personally don't think you will be disappointed with the ET4G STOCK. That is how I ran mine until you could repack CWM with stock kernel and I didn't feel like I missed out on anything until now with Calk's/all + ICS twist

Truth be told, if Ice Cream Sandwich wasn't coming out on the Galaxy S II the Epic 4G Touch would be placed second on my list next to the iPhone 4S. I'm just amazed at how fast the phone is without hardware acceleration fully enabled (Gingerbread isnt fully hardware accelerated, its only in-app). With ICS system-wide hardware acceleration, the phonr should not only bring it on top of iPhone and WP fluidness but it should also be a lot faster than before.

You're asking in the E4GT forum. What do you think people are going to say? Just like if you asked this same question on an iPhone forum they would say it's better. Best thing to do is go play with both and figure out which one YOU like better

I say ET4G is better just because the screen is larger and has 4G WiMax...
Only real strong point I see on the iPhone is there App quality.
If anything just get the Epic Touch and pick up a iPod Touch 4th generation.
If you use bad grammar, drive a Prius, and are well off due to your parents you should get an iPhone. They are quite pretty and they give you two color choices, and that "****" is dope...If you are creative, love customization, and want a phone built for form and function you should get an Epic Touch 4g.

Iphone is more portable, ios 5 is a bit better than ios 4.

I would get the iphone since the screen is huge and its really fast cause it has 3g and talks to you in Latin with an Irish accent plus it vibrates nicely in bed... I can't stand this tiny screen on the epic touch. And the colors are so washed out. Plus its really heavy like a laptop and the battery only lasts 30 minutes while looking at pr0n... This is all educated thinking though not logically confined to real life hypothesis.

Anyone know where we can see some pics snapped with the 4S?
Edit....Some picture comparisons of the iPhone to the 4S below. Would like to see some compared to our Epic 4G touch though. Also curious if the 4S has any lag when snapping the picture.

This is for ATT Galaxy S II, but it is close enough to Epic 4G Touch that Sprint users can relate. It is actually a decent straight up side-by-side, actual usage of features, comparison with no fanboyism. Covers App startup, VoiceCommand/Siri, Games, Browsers, Notification Bar, etc.
Part 1
Part 2
Get the iPhone. I finally upgraded to 4s after using Evo and Photon for the past 2yrs and there really is no comparison. iPhone is buttery smooth, super responsive with better apps and IMO unparalleled user experience. I didn't realize how much I missed my iPhone after leaving AT&T, and it's safe to say that I won't be buying anything but the iPhone for the foreseeable future.

I think the reviewer was being nice in using the AT&T version of the SGS2 with it's smaller screen screen. If he used Sprint's or T-Mo's version it would have just made things worse for the 4s then it already was.....

Please tell me what is not buttery smooth and and super responsive on the Epic 4G Touch because I have not found it yet......Also you mention the EVO and Photon but this is in the Epic 4G touch section so your comparison here is pointless.
My SGS2 is much smoother then the 2 devices you listed as well, so what's your point?
Wife just got the 4S on Friday. I have the Epic Touch. She's never had a smartphone, and I came from a TP2. We were out with friends showing them our new phones, and she spent more time talking about MY phone than hers. We went to NYC Saturday, and used both phones all day. After ONE actual day of use, her white 4s is in the box awaiting a trip to the Sprint store for an exchange to an Epic Touch, with a white silicone sleeve.
I really don't understand the hype that surrounds the iPhone. Admittedly, yesterday was the only time I used one, but it was all I needed. Everything is so much easier on the Epic.

I've used the epic touch at the Sprint store and while it's arguably the best android phone it's no iPhone. After hearing of all the signal loss issues with no patch in sight I would definitely steer clear especially considering Samsung's spotty update history. Bottom line, there is a good reason why the iPhone easily outsells any individual android phone, and it's not because everyone is an izombie.

cory I've had nearly ever smartphone that Sprint has put out in the last decade and I really can't name one that I hated except the Photon. I have one sitting beside me right now and I feel bad even selling it to someone. There is absolutely nothing I like about the phone and it's light years from being on the Epic's level. Unless you have to make the switch I would urge you to reconsider.
Sorry to sound so dramatic but I love new phones and the Photon was just a major disappointment in every way.

both awesome phones.
heres what i have to say about the 2.
even though the photon has a higher resolution display, the Samsung display is still, by far, superior.
camera on the photon is not nearly as good, and range of view is MUCH smaller, meaning its like its zoomed in (on the photon).
THERE IS VIRTUALLY NO DEVELOPMENT ON THE PHOTON.
though there is a nice lightweight rom, and an OC kernel.
however
im in a crappy sprint coverage area, and the photon works better in my house, the radio in the photon really seems better all around.
and its a world phone, still, i think data overseas is considered roaming, or something like that, id recommend looking into that.

That's true there isn't hundreds of roms for the photon, but the ones we have are very good, and we have fully working cm7, except for 4g. As far as roaming in other countries ,you can roam or buy a sim card to use. I think both phones are good. And it comes down to personal preference .

I've been using the Photon and E4GT side by side by side for about a week now, after using the Photon since launch day. Honestly, I'm torn. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
Take the screen, for example. Yes, the E4GT's screen has brighter colors and deeper blacks, but the Photon is much brighter and thus better in bright sunlight and its colors are more natural. Ebook reading is better on the Photon because the screen is a truer white (the E4GT's screen is a bit blue), while viewing video on the E4GT is much better than on the Photon. While I like the larger size and lower resolution of the E4GT because my eyes are getting a bit old and tired, the Photon's higher res screen does show more information. I don't notice any problems with the Photon's PenTile screen, by the way.
I also think the Photon's build is generally better and it feels like a more quality device, and it's just designed better overall. Email is better on the Photon, the notifications system is much improved (I love being able to dismiss individual notifications), the kickstand is nice, and the Motorola car dock has MUCH better audio quality over AUX. The E4GT's dock has tons of line noise and isn't nearly as seamless in actual use.
At the same time, the E4GT is noticeably faster than the Photon, with less lag. That surprises me, because until I used the E4GT, I thought the Photon performed just fine. Now, it seems slow. Also, the Photon has better cell radios and GPS (faster lock), but the E4GT's wifi connects and disconnects faster. But, the Photon's wifi has better wifi signal strength once connected and overall performance. 3G speed is a wash between them.
I need to decide over the next few days which one to stick with, and I'm honestly torn. I think overall there's something about the E4GT that's more fun, but for anyone who relies on their smartphone as a solid business device, the Photon would probably be the better choice. It's really not at all a clear-cut decision between the two.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
The average prices on Craigslist for each phone determines the value of the phone which then in turn determines which phone is better.
Average prices for the epic touch 4g is way, way higher. I have not seen an epic touch sold for 200, but for photons left and right at those prices.
I would not switch to the photon just to use it as a world phone. I would just get a cheap blackberry when traveling and use the epic touch as a faux tablet over wifi.
Let me know if you guys agree.

Let me know if you guys agree.

terrible logic. what the pricing says is that there is more demand for the epic touch, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the phone is superior. you are basically saying that the majority's opinion is right. using your logic, then you are also saying that the iPhone is a better phone than the epic touch since the secondary market pricing is even higher. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't agree with that statement.
though there are a few very intelligent, objective posts (wynand32, badname, etc), I find it laughable how biased so many of you are. why the desperate need to feel that your phone is the best in the world? different ppl have different needs and surprise! the et4g may not be for everyone.
back to the topic at hand: i owned the photon for 30 days before switching to the ET4G in september. The photon is a VERY good phone--in fact, I often find myself missing it for 3 reasons:
1) form factor - the photon actually felt better in my hand--higher quality and good grip... the et4g is simply too slippery
2) reception/radios/sound quality - photon's signal and gps were vastly superior to the et4g
3) battery life -- the photon outperforms the ET4G and it's not even close
The ONLY reason I have stuck with the ET4G is because of its camera. I like to use my phone as a point and shoot replacement and it's probably the only phone (outside of the iphone) whose camera is good enough for that. The Photon's camera was absolutely horrendous, and had they put a better shooter into it, I probably would still have one to this day
If you're going for a world phone, then the photon makes sense.
Otherwise, you'll like more parts of the E4GT.

Should I upgrade?

So I finally have a chance to upgrade my Samsung Moment, and I am wondering if I should wait for newer phones to come out(ie the Galaxy Nexus) or buy the Epic 4g Touch? I don't know how much longer I can use this janky phone for...

Epic touch 4G best phone hands down. as to my opinion, the epic touch is a really nice phone, fast, big, beautiful screen. etc. but the galaxy nexus is also very nice. depends on what u want. if u want android 4.0 galaxy nexus is the choice for u. but if u want a phone thats nice and will soon be upgraded to android 4.0 ( might even be better than galaxy nexus), The epic touch 4G. Also the user interfaces. Epic has TW4 and Galaxy nexus has the new ICS UI.
If your in a rush ... he the epic touch you won't be let down... also don't see sprint releasing anything good anytime soon

Yeah don't expect any major device to be released on Sprint until LTE nears implementation. E4GT is a nice choice if you want to stick with Sprint.

The two best phones now are the HTC EVO 3D and the Samsung Galaxy s2. I just recently sold my EVO 3D that I had since launch date and bought the this SG2 and I am really impressed with the Sammy! In fact I think its a better phone all together IMHO.
We just upgraded my wifes from the epic 4g to the gs2 touch on sprint...wow. I have a few friends w the galaxy nexus and I own a nexus s. The gs2 is a beast. I have ran ics roms and they are nice, I'm still waiting for my 4g ota but as far as her gs2, its the fastest phone I have used. It runs great. Battery is great. Camera is great. Lots of features I didn't expect. Built-in screenshot. Tilt zoom. Mhl adapted HDMI.
On ek02 its producing 85+ mflops and 4200+ quadrant stock...if anyone cared lol.
My vote...get the gs2. 0 disappointment
I upgraded from the moment when this phone came out and it is like a new world! I honestly don't see any reason not to. For the first month or so I just watched as the devs worked on this and the options available for this phone now are mind blowing! I would say go for it-I have yet to see a better option on any network.

The epic touch is better in a hardware sense, but the evo 3d has been confirmed by sprint to be receiving ics, so it really is a matter of what is important to you. Evo is basically the sprint equivalent of Verizon's DROID branding. At this point I would wait for an official ics phone to be released.

Epic touch is a really good phone. Consider the phone on the galaxy nexus. Reviews have said it's nothing to write home about with it's lower 5mp camera and studdering camcorder. I love my nexus s 4g but I can tolerate the epic touch. Et has better camera and camcorder, option to add sd card, and I think the galaxy nexus doesn't have sd card support. When or if sprint gets the gn, it will be a great phone, but by then the bar will be raised higher with other competing phones. It will be a repeat performance of the ns4g. Nothing revolutionary about the hardware and other phones will out spec it. It will be fast but old news by then. I highly suggest to not get the iPhone 4s. I had it for two months and traded it in towards my epic touch. I kinda miss the phone but I don't miss the app store and apple's tight fitted grip on the os and mods or themes. There still isn't a jailbreak for it and nothing promising is on the horizon for being able to untethered jailbreak.
I would definitely go with the Epic 4g Touch. It's honestly an amazing phone. It's ridiculously light weight. Every iPhone user I know has phone envy when I whip this thing out. I don't doubt they will have it moreso when we've got ICS, CM9, CM7 and MIUI all working.

This phone - galaxy nexus

I'm looking into getting this phone with VERIZON and just wanted to read some inputs of what you guys & girls think of your Galaxy Nexus 4G?
I'm currently rocking a HTC Evo 4G with Sprint but no 4G due to location (Miami) and I have 4 more days to decide if I should stay with Sprint or go to Verizon due to lack of Internet Services.
So yea, I'm a big fan of GREAT Camera phones. I see the Nexus only have a 5MP sensor. Does it compare or beats the iPhone 4S camera?
But I'm really digging Jelly Bean!
So let me know what ya think?
Should I rock the Galaxy Nexus if I leave Sprint..

It doesn't matter about the megapixel its all about the Lens and the glasses I mean the camera Hardware itself

That's why I said "Sensor" 5MP Sensor could perform better then other 8MP Sensor.
It can all depends on the (Aperture) of the "Glass"
So if the Sensor kicks low performance, the GLASS can make it pop. But not the other way around.
Thanks
The GNex camera is fine, everyone complains about it but unless you're trying to be a camera pro, its just fine.

I left sprint for Verizon just a couple of months ago. Left because of the same reason, my part of Ohio won't have 4g for an unforeseen amount if time. Couldn't be happier now though. the difference between my service is amazing. 3g and 4g is like night and day. Bottom line is I get better data speeds on 3g with Verizon then I ever did on sprints 3g. Unlimited data is great if you can use it, but I couldn't use Pandora, play music, or even watch a 3 min. YouTube video on sprints network with where I am, and there current levels of service.

That's good to know about the service & camera! Thanks...Any good or bad issues with the Galaxy Nexus?
May want to research battery life and screen issues.
Although battery life is very subjective, overall it seems as though people are having issues with it. There are extended batteries that can help with this issue so I would look into that as well.
There are problems with the Nexus screen ranging from banding to yellowish tints. Some people have exchanged phones multiple times and still have had screen issues, so this is one aspect I would definitely research thoroughly before buying.
I just ordered the phone so I can't comment on that, but as for service it seems anything is better than Sprint for data speed. I'm running far away from Sprint (and contracts in general). If I were to sign a contract I'd prob get the GS3... not sure if VZW has it.

Yea my family was in the same boat, and i had the epic 4g slider, the other sprint flagship phone . Speeds are great and i think you EVO is long over due for an upgrade plus, no annoying bootloader during root, ( I rooted my moms Evo)

Had pretty much the same scenario. 2 Evo 4G and ridiculous coverage. We both switched over to Verizon and a GNex. I wouldn't hesitate to call it an upgrade in every way. The camera has a lower mega pixel, but it takes better pictures, especially in low light conditions. The battery life is better in the overall, but that may be related to better signal strength. Nicer display on the Nexus and it's definitely snappier. Verizon LTE is leaps and bounds beyond Sprint's 3G coverage. I would definitely give the Nexus a shot.

Hey, thanks for the info...Do you know of a link that I can see the differences between the two. Galaxy Nexus & Evo 4G?
How much snappier can it be from the EVO. This Evo is pretty bad azz when it comes to performance and picture quality.
I would love to see the difference in photo quality & performance!
HTC Evo 4G has a lens aperture of 2.2.
I wonder what the Galaxy Nexus has?
They both run 1.2 dual-core processors with 1gb of ram?

something about the camera since you asked how it compared to the iphone 4/s camera.
at dave n busters i could take pictures with the flash off and they were fine, and with the flash they weren't washed out or blurry.
the iphone needed the flash otherwise it was all dark, and almost all the photos were blurry or washed in flash.
and then that fast shutter speed on the nexus, i can snap a quick shot faster than the iphone (multiple shots in a row, and a few other things are when this is most useful)
I used an iPhone 4 before I moved to a Gnex. And, I still kind of prefer the image quality from my iPhone 4.
To me, it just seems as though the Gnex isn't quite able to capture all of the detail; its just slightly a bit more blurry. This is when you zoom in in your picture (i.e. after I've taken the picture).
The camera lens was changed with the iPhone 4S so I would think there's an improvement even over the iPhone 4.
That said, the picture quality from a Gnex isn't terrible but it could be a lot better. Hopefully, it's something that's changed with the next gen.

Thanks for the replies! The reason I asked compared to the iPhones is because in fact I came from the iPhone family and know the quality of both the iPhone 4 and 4S. My girl currently owns the 4S. I have done the comparison between my current phone HTC EVO 4G LTE. There is no dought that the EVO 4G LTE takes the leap over the iPhone's.
I wanted the input of the Galaxy Nexus 4G cause I don't know how it stacked up next to the iPhones. I had a feeling one of you was going to say that the details on the iPhone 4 pictures is just peppier more then the Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE .
And knowing this makes me assure that it will not be as crispy as the iPhone 4S.
But yea thanks for the input on the camera of the Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE.
If the question is specifically about comparing cameras, the 4S has a better camera than my GNex, but my GNex takes pretty good pics. It may not be stellar but it's good enough for my purposes.

Cool, Thanks! The moral of my question is how does the Galaxy Nexus 4G LTE stacks up to the Evo 4G LTE in general? Would it be worth to "downgrade" sorta say?
