[2.3.5 Update] zergRush has been patched - HTC Wildfire S

Just to confirm that temp root using the zergRush exploit has been patched on the 2.3.5 update, useless anyway.
HTC finds time to prevent us from rooting and or unlocking bootloader, but wont deliver on their promise to do same.
Nevermind, latest version of zergRush works.
Mod this one is ready for deletion.

[Q] I'm A DUMMY. I KNOW

I'm ready to root and I've been reading and reading and reading and reading and I just don't understand how to root. I need a dummy proof way a step by step system to get this done. I know that my hboot is 0.97.0000. Someone please help me. I ready just need a more detailed root method. Thanks
Try this and skip the ota if you want to keep 0.97. http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever You can later flash the latest ota ruu in recovery
Unrevoked Forever doesn't root the phone. It does NAND unlock (S-OFF) which allows you to flash custom ROMs.
You said your HBOOT is 0.97, so you can probably use Unrevoked 3.21/3.22 one click root to root your phone.

[Q] ReRooting a Rooted Htc Desire

I already have a rooted htc desire phone with an early version of unrevoked but the problem is its still S-ON. Can i safely reroot with latest version of unrevoked and simply overite my already rooted phone to gain the latest recovery and S-OFF? or do i need to unroot first?
unrEVOked doesn't givce S-OFF - that's a seperate process - unless you have a CDMA Desire

[Q] ADB Rooting 'temp root' - some questions

I don't know much about rooting, flashing ROMs or anything. But just have a few questions..
As the HTC WFS with S-ON can only be 'temporarily rooted' using ADB and downgrading HBOOT to bypass the RUU errors; I wanted to know what this actually means?
Is it the same as full permanent root or not?
What can I do with full root that I can't do with ADB root?
If I do temp root, what happens if I reboot my phone? Does the root permissions disappear and the system apps I've deleted return or what?

Never heard of a temp root for the Wildfire S, can you post the full guide on how to do it?
Can't help you with the difference between root and temp-root.

Problems to make rooting in HTC Wildfire S

Hello!! I have problems to root HTC Wildfire S with Android 2.3.5 S-ON.
I've sucessfully unlocked bootloader of my HTC using the tutorial of HTCDev. The problem, is when I try rooting the phone using OneClick, unlock root and others programs. I have a problem when I try execute the exploit zergRush on my phone. I copy them into /local/data/tmp folder, and I change the permissions with chmod 777. All this steps, work fine, but when I execute the exploit zergRush with ADB, fail in the progress.
The progress fail when zergRush try to mount the system folder as read and write access. In this time, I suppose that system must be root, but no it's.
I think that the zergRush 2.3.3 exploit not work correctly in 2.3.5 Android versions, but shearching in this forum I found that this version work fine.
Can you help me please?
I'm a spanish people. I apologize if you don't understand me very well.
Sorry.
Thanks for your time.
I had the same problem rooting with that method. I found one that works way better. Also got s-off easily as well. I'm not at my computer but send me a private message and I'll send you links with instructions on how I did it. It was very easy. Zergrush would say it was working but would not complete correct.

[Q] Tips on ROOTing - Desire HD, HTCdev unlocked, CWM recovery, 2.3.5 sense 3.0

Hi All,
I've been trying to S-OFF my desire HD, since the AAHK has been retired I've been trying to follow attn1's high level instructions found at attn1's blog.
So far I've:
HTCdev unlocked my bootloader (needed to upgrade the RUU using a goldcard)
Flashed CWM recovery
Now I'm trying to gain root access to continue, I got some questions about this:
Since I have an unlocked bootloader do I need to use and exploit (fre3or, Zergrush, tarcoroot) to gain root access or is there another way to do this?
If I do need to use an exploit, I've read tarcoroot is the only one that works on 2.3.5 (I've tried the other 2, they don't work), can you gain permanent root by using su, superuser and busybox after gaining temp root with tarcoroot? Or do I need to downgrade ROM with tarcoroot and then use one of the other 2 exploits to then gain perm root?
Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be awesome.

If you use any of the exploits here or here you should be fine
You don't need S-Off to root if you've already unlocked your bootloader and flashed a recovery. Just flash either a Superuser apk or a rooted ROM from recovery.
