[Q] is my phone's cpu dead? - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I dl acs v5.1. And have also tried the ck rom. My cpu will not over clock over 1.1 ghz. On the v.c. it will let me set it at 1.4 and even the 1.5 from the iap kernal. But it says that the cpu runs at 1.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

In Voltage Control, go to the Voltages tab and scroll down and click the white 1200Mhz icon. That should work for you.

Hey thanks it took a couple of clicks but it worked I got to 1.3. So I guess its time to give the iap kernal another go when my battery is full that is. Lol. Thanks again

SetCPU and screen not turning on...

Now I am not blaming the app I am just wondering... everynow and then, when I wake my phone up, it doesn't want to wake up or when I turn it on and try to unlock it freezes... was wondering if anyone else was getting the same thing.
Rooted using the one-click method.
Screen off setting is min 400 max 400.

SetCPU issues
I have been having the same issues myself. Mine was set low to 100min/max: screen off just as a test today and it did that to me a on a few seperate occasions. Not sure why, just ended up battery pulling after 10-15 seconds of no response from the phone.
The cpu is set too low on screen off, go for 245 or so
setcpu does not play nice with r phones. i had problems witth it on every kernal i played with. right now im using the mix up kernal. i used setcpu to 1.2ghz max and 100mhz min. conservative governore. i have yet to find a set up to use while the screen is locked with no issues. what i do know is galaxy s phones only like the conservative setting. maybe a 400mhz max 100mhz min with conservastive governore would work?
Make sure setcpu is set to conservative. I set my lowest to 200mhz and max at 1200. No issues here other than sometimes the notification pull down bar is laggy but it does that stock anyway.

The rom don't control the cpu speeds. The kernal does. You cab run any rom kernal combo you would like. In order to hit the 1.4ghz you want you need to run a kernal that is capable of doing so

Is SetCPU really necessary anymore? If you run a kernel that's not locked into performance mode it will scale on it's own even without SetCPU. I haven't installed it on my Epic yet and when monitoring the phone with SystemPanel I see my CPU go down to 200mhz when idle and scale up when processes are running.
Where is the kernel for 1.4? I have baked snack rom max is 1.2 i know kernel is the part that "controlls" speed but I'm stuck. Any help

Synergy and SetCPU

Just wondering if anyone is running setcpu with Synergy and what there setting are. I have never used this app before and am having a hard time finding out how to use it. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
I have it and they say the best thing to do is leave the main screen alone but make one profile. "screen off" set it to the lowest on both maximum and the minimum, and the % to 100.

Works on mine
I didn't think it worked on 2.3 either, downloading now....
setcpu wont set the max on the synergy rom (RC2)
EDIT: fixed it.. you need to do perflock.. then you can set the max on synergy

Deck 1.3 screen on issue

I have searched high and low but can't seem to find a definitive fix that works. I am on Decks 1.3 with SZ 2.21 Cfs havs kernel and am having the issue where I can't always get the screen to turn on right away. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 pushes before it will actually turn on. I have tried different kernels, changing the minimum frequency, screen on/off animation change, etc. Nothing seems to be a permanent fix because its still happening. Does anyone know of a real fix that works?

I hit the button and I see the lights come on for the soft keys but the screen never lights up. Sometimes if I wait I will see the screen flash on then it'll well turn off and lock.

Blazer 4.1 Kernels

What kernels are people using when running Blazer 4.1? I'm using the FC24 modem as well.
Im using the stock one that came with it. EL29. Everything working so smooth, no need to change it.

Yeah I have no complaints, mine is running smooth as hell as well. Was just wondering if there are any kernels out there that are worth flashing.

Rule of thumb for xda. If you are going to mention a kernel you like it is good etiquette to also provide a link to it.

For some reason the Gunslinger kernel just does NOT like my phone. Every time I have tried it my phone overheats and crashes. Oh well, others swear by it. Each phone is different.

What's with the Governor settings? I'm new to setcpu and I'm curious.
Here's some info on governors:

If you do a Google search, you'll find some good explanations of each setting

Ktweaker kernal issue

Im new here so bear with me. I did a search but couldnt find an answer. I flashed the kt747 kernal and it seems to work fine. However it seemed to create a freezing issue when I had setcpu installed. Possibly because it came with its own tuning app. My problem is that when I enable the over clock steps it will keep my max at 2.1ghz but the about ten minuts later chanfes it back to 1512ghz. Yet the slider will still show to be set at the max of 2.1ghz. So what gives? With the govener set to performan it should be locked at the max set value correct?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Can you try a different frequency and post the results? Try 1800, which I use. You can also try locking the frequencies.
I re flashed it earlier today and it seems to be better but im not sure yet. Even with it at 2.1 ghz my keyboard is slow. But it may just be the tapatalk app. Using setcpu is faster at selecting frequencys but they dont seem to stick. Ill try 1800. Im assuming you use the same kernal?
