Ktweaker kernal issue - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Im new here so bear with me. I did a search but couldnt find an answer. I flashed the kt747 kernal and it seems to work fine. However it seemed to create a freezing issue when I had setcpu installed. Possibly because it came with its own tuning app. My problem is that when I enable the over clock steps it will keep my max at 2.1ghz but the about ten minuts later chanfes it back to 1512ghz. Yet the slider will still show to be set at the max of 2.1ghz. So what gives? With the govener set to performan it should be locked at the max set value correct?

Can you try a different frequency and post the results? Try 1800, which I use. You can also try locking the frequencies.

I re flashed it earlier today and it seems to be better but im not sure yet. Even with it at 2.1 ghz my keyboard is slow. But it may just be the tapatalk app. Using setcpu is faster at selecting frequencys but they dont seem to stick. Ill try 1800. Im assuming you use the same kernal?

I am on this kernel but on liquid smooth

Got a quick question for you then. I looked around and maybe I dont know what to search for specifically but where do I find the stock kernal file if I want to reflash it?

What ROM are u running? Just dirty flash the ROM and u will get stock kernel back...

Its the stock rom. So only a ditry flash will restore the kernal to stock?

your keyboard is slow because you have underclocked it so low. try something in the high 200's

Set cpu with stock kernel droid incredible

I just rooted my incredible and I'm using the kernel that came with it stock. I disabled perflock and I left the max speed to 998 and the min speed to 245.
When I'm not doing anything on my incredible, I see that the speed constantly changes from the max to the min. Not even one second passes before it just goes back and forth, back and forth. Is this normal?
Coming from the d1 where it would stay at the min when idle, I'm not sure if what's going on with my incredible is normal.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yes that's normal. For better battery life, I'd try a kernel with smartass governor. It spends more time on the lower frequencies.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Switching to a different kernel will give you the ability to overlook//underfoot the system needed.. this in turn increases battery life.. kingklick, ziggy's, chad's kernel are all well known kernels.. you will want to play with different kernels.. not every kernel will be stable to overlook to certain speeds on certain Rom's.. switching kernels is almost as addictive as switching roms.. always nandroid before flashing anything..
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Typos on my end.. underfoot = undervolt.. overlook = overlook.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Will those kernels work on my rooted stock incredible?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Yea! By stock i'm assuming all you did was root. I am currently running SkyRaider 3.5 Sense along with
"2.6.32.26-ubcredujuerbek-12082010 [email protected] #11"
I will edit with links to these two items.
SkyRaider 3.5 Sense - SkyRaider
Chad's Kernel - Incredikernel
My phone runs amazingly fast with sense but yet, even with heavy usage (Texting constantly, on the internet, gmail, even Fring) I can go an easy 24 hours on one charge. If my phone stays screen-off idle I could last at 95%-100% for several hours.
Yes, all I did was root.
Does the chad kernel provide wireless tether and will i still need to disable perflock in setcpu?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
the non stock kernels all disable perflock already, you do not need to do it..
flash the kernel via clockwork, and you are set.. jump into setcpu and adjust some settings and add profiles.. you'll be golden..
What he said ^^

Not quite. I believe Lou's has some tweaks within perflock, so disabling it would lose those.
And most kernel devs, particularly Lou and the ones who use HAVS, advise against using SetCPU. I'd check with your chosen kernel thread for details.

Also, I wouldn't 'set on boot', at least till you find frequencies that your phone can handle safely. Otherwise, you'll get a 'crash' loop, where your phone starts up just fine, but once you go past the initial lockscreen it'll crash and reboot. Very annoying...

what rager said... ive put on kernels and ran em high only to get a "boot loop".. its tuff to get out of cause you need to get back into setcpu to scale back otherwise it keep on going.... i learned to put the setcpu app icon on my main screen so i can get there fast to scale back..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866736 can you install these with the stock rom. i wanted to experiment to get better battery life but didnt really want to install a different one.

Yeah, if you let it boot loop too long it'll hard boot, which is where the phone cuts off completely. That has happened to me, and it ruins apps.

[Q] is my phone's cpu dead?

So I dl acs v5.1. And have also tried the ck rom. My cpu will not over clock over 1.1 ghz. On the v.c. it will let me set it at 1.4 and even the 1.5 from the iap kernal. But it says that the cpu runs at 1.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

In Voltage Control, go to the Voltages tab and scroll down and click the white 1200Mhz icon. That should work for you.
Hey thanks it took a couple of clicks but it worked I got to 1.3. So I guess its time to give the iap kernal another go when my battery is full that is. Lol. Thanks again

[Q]Modifying the maximum overclock with a kernel

Hey, I have a Glide running INC3PETION v1 and using the latest ardatdat kernel, and I was wondering if there is any way for me to change the overclock in said kernel. It is currently set to 1.2ghz but I want to bump it up a tiny bit to maybe 1.3ghz or (if it's safe) 1.4ghz. This is so I can watch some video files (mkv) without having the bad audio lag issues. I would not be having it overclocked at that speed all the time, only for short periods. The only thing preventing me from just keeping a copy of cranium (I think it's cranium) on my sd is portability. The only kernel I know of that is OC'd higher than ardatdat hasn't fixed the data counter issue. And it needs Odin. I would like to be able to just go into CWM and flash my extra OC'd kernel when I need it. As a last thought, I think ardatdat has stopped (or paused) development so if this is at all possible, help is greatly appreciated.

You can try to download no frills CPU control.should be able to overclock when you need it then, just make sure you have root (su)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using xda app-developers app
@above Still, the max is set to 1.2
Side question: say I don't want to install a separate app: what files should I have to mod to select the governor and maximum frequency?
Thanks.
T
Make your own thread for your own question... I'm looking for an answer to my problem and I don't need constant notifications about yours. Thanks.
And just to clarify, I have an overclocking app already. What I'm looking for is how to change the max clock speed that is set in the kernel. Or just a kernel that has it already raised above 1.2. I need the data counter fixed though, no matter what.

Audio lag I believe can be fixed in inception v2 with voodoo sound.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using xda premium
Its only happening in mx when I play mkv. Its a known speed issue with the player. Also, I really don't like the theme on v2
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using xda app-developers app
If it's a known speed issue with the app, why would changing the oc on the kernel affect it? Think about, the general audience for the app don't have OC kernels. It is supposed to work without OC. I think just an update to the app will fix it.
I'll see if I can unpack boot.img for the kernel, anyway
Well you see it's an issue with older phones. And mine has had a bit of an issue with speed simply because of some of the apps I have running. That's why I wanted to do this. Its hardware limitations. I just worded it wrong.

Isnt it just easier to kill the running apps before playing the video, than setting another oc just to play it. your reasons for doing these are too strange...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using xda app-developers app
Except that the running apps are ones that I cannot kill? My Data monitor, antivirus, facebook (which I would like to kill but cannot) as well as a few others are what slow it down. Besides, I just would like to see how well the videos run at a higher clock. Simple curiosity is probably the best way to explain it.

you can kill the facebook app by logging off then it should be able to close.

sorry same here I don't know how to help you. I was just trying to help you out and close different applications that are open in the backround. What I usually do is log off certain applications like facebook and other ones I actually turned around and uninstall anything that stays resident and in memory this way I know that my phone is not running any non essential application in the background.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927R using xda app-developers app
I expect you'd need to modify the source of the kernel to support a higher max OC, and then you'd need to build the kernel from source. I didn't spot the source for any of the kernels on our phone at a glance, but I didn't look too hard, if you track one down it should be fairly straightforward.
Ah ok. And getting the tools to do so is a piece of cake, so I suppose that's what I'll have to do. Thanks for your help!

[Q] processor keeps going above max cpu setting?

Hello, i am new to the android world, and am loving it. Ive tried a couple of roms, and decided to stick with Liquid Smooth Jelly Bean Rom. My only problem is this:
i have set the max frequency for the processor to be 1512 mhz(or lower sometimes), but sometimes it keeps automatically setting itself to 1900mhz, which i do not want. Is there a way to set it so that it will never go above 1512?
btw i am on 3.0.45 leanKernel if that helps.
Thanks
Check mark the set on boot box and restart phone right away after you change it back to 1500mhz.

Depends what kernel you're running, some kernel apps let you lock the frequencies so they cannot be changed by apps. If an app needs to run faster it will bump up the speed, so might want to check into that. Works on KT747 Kernel (Ktweaker).

Here's the link for the KT747 Kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756776 . It works with all AOSP (CM10, AOKP etc.) aswell as most touchwiz roms. I've never used Liquidsmooth so Idk what it's about but this thread should contain information about which roms it is compatible with. If you have any questions I suggest starting a new thread about what its compatible with or asking directly in the thread. Good luck Always flash Rom before kernel.

Ktoonz tweaker not sticking

So I've seen parts of posts about Ktweaker with ktoonz not sticking. But comenly people have freezas script installed and usually removing it fixes the problem. But I'm on free gs3, ktoonz latest version for touchwiz. I don't have setcpu or anything else installed. I did have setcpu but I used titanium backup to wipe it's data and uninstall it, but even after that, Ktweaker won't stick. Every time I open it, the things pop up saying my current set stuff isn't the same as what I have it set to. I can restart my phone and it will stay, but after like 15 or so mins, it happens again. Anyone know what will fix it?

Sorry if you didn't read it, you can only help yourself by reading it. getting settings to stick has been discussed several times and in the OP it has specific instructions on getting them to stick using rom Toolbox.
