I know there's a thread for this but I'm not finding it anywhere. Why can't I play flash videos anymore? What's the fix/workaround? I click on the video box and it appears to be "playing" but it's just a black screen.
I posted the instructions in the MIUI thread, but they apply for the AOSP roms so here is a link to that post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19562913&postcount=1629

Thanks for this, but I'm navigating to data>data>com.android.browser, and I don't have any file or folder named app_plugins. Could it be in any other location?
Are you using the stock browser? If not, you have to go to data>data>insert.package.name.of.your.browser And you do have flash installed, right? I would uninstall flash and reinstall the market version and it should create the folder.

Because AdFree is not working on Desire:
I've made hosts file which is compilation of two lists and some manual additions (for correct blocking of admob). So I decided to share with my list. Use it if You want to. Please tell me if this forum is wrong for that list.
Sorry for the n00b question but how do you install this?
Nice one mate. You've just reminded me I needed to redo my hosts file after installing Modaco Froyo, and I might as well use yours as it'll be more up to date than mine.

ditto this, instructions for us noobies?
unzip the host file
than enter recovery
adb-windows shell mount /system
adb-windows shell mv /system/etc/hosts /sdcard/backuphost
adb push c:\hosts /system/etc
that should wrok if you unziped hosts.zip to c:\ and if something goes wrong you have your original hosts file backed up in /sdcard/backuphost
hope this helps
p.s. i didn't try this
did everything, and adfree is still not working in froyo...
Thanks anyway!
Edit: Now, Adfree FCs!
Edit 2: I did it again and it worked!
Could someone please create a zip file, that can be falshed through clockworkmod recovery? This would be fantastic.

Thanks dnlgee I put it in my repo on ROM Manager
This is great, thanks for sharing - it seems to work great. I might go back to a stock hosts though - I like to block ads when browsing, but I feel bad about doing it for ad-supported applications. That's just me though

Thank you. I have been looking for this for a long time
Great work, it worked a charm until I changed to a new rom, went to use it again and it was gone from the downloads in Rom Manager.
Big thanks.
Panic over, It was saved as a download on my SD card, Rom Manager flashed it again from the saved location no problem.
Love it.

Would I be right in assuming I can put this on my card renamed as update.zip (if I need to?)
Use rom manager to boot into recovery and flash it manually?

You don't need to rename the zip file if you're using ROM Manager, but yes you should be able to install this through the manager.
If you can't download it through the ROM Manager report, my link is always online and will be updated when possible.

Just a confused question;
If we have a rooted device, what's the reason for having to use the recovery menu? Can you not simply overwrite the file?
Thanks
Yea you can, provided you reboot into recovery and mount the system, then pull or push the device back into the system.
Either way you need to boot into recovery as there's no root method that fully allows read/write access for the Desire at the moment.

It should work like this. Unfortunatelly you can't mount system partition as read/write. That is because system is blocking this in some way.

Another quick one:
I used the zip file which people are using in the rom manager. I rebooted into clockwork and selected apply update from zip and selected the file. Appears I broke the system though lol .
Is this not the right way of doing it?
Also how do you type commands in the recovery? :S

I heard it was floating around unrevoked's IRC channel, but I have yet to see it pop up.

Here you go. All packaged up with Hulu. Make sure you update Adobe in the market first.
how about a flash file modified for hulu? the app's there but it doesnt seem to work because of flash

You don't need a modified flash file. The zip file attached above contains everything you need. Pay attention to the last sentence in the post. You NEED to download the latest version of Flash Player from the marketplace. After you do that install the file you downloaded above from recovery.

Doesn't work. I updated Adobe in the market, then downloaded this .zip and installed it via recovery and now I get "Hulu is not supported on your platform".

Check your path for the libflashplayer.so file.
Is it data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib?
You could always try ripping the .so file out of the zip and just pushing it with root explorer or adb.
I tried doesn't work for me either... I tried doing it both ways.

Working for me even after a reboot. Wonder if it's ROM related? Are you running an AOSP? Anyway, I'll tinker with it a bit more and see if I have any luck.

I'm not sure where to find it, but it depends on how its packaged, on how you install it. If its a flashable zip, then yes you do exactly as you said. If its just the bootanimation.zip, and isn't flashable, then you can use root explorer to put the file where it belongs. If you're on a sense rom, it goes in /system/customize/resource. If you're on aosp, it goes in /system/media. Just put it in the right folder, set permissions, and reboot.

Damn, you're right. The mp3 file (for the boot sound) will download it seems, but the actual boot animation links me to 4shared and says 'the file link is no longer valid', or something like that. Maybe look thru that thread and see if there are any mirror's posted in it? I got nothing to do, I'll take a gander for ya in a sec.
EDIT: I found it. Check out post #40 in that thread. I just downloaded it. The download works fine. If you want the sound, the link in the OP looks like it works, if not, I saw two other mirrors for the MP3 sound somewhere between post 10 and 40.
BTW, that download is not flashable. you'll need to put the file where it goes. It's easy, especially if you know a little adb, it'll take 20 seconds. If not, using root explorer or ES file explorer can get the job done.
EDIT2: attatched the animation for you.
i'll take a look as well, don't want you to be having all the fun
Its in there, page 4 or 5
damn it its not flashable.
gotta learn how to do it the other way now
Root explorer works great-sweet find!

Couple quick questions to help me help you get it installed.
1) What rom are you currently on
2) Do you have a root level file explorer such as Root Explorer, or ES File explorer?
3) Do you have adb set up to use on your computer?
4) If you're on a sense rom, I might be able to make a flashable zip for you, let me know.

Ooops. I forgot to edit the sound file. Sorry. I can edit and re upload it, or all you'd need to do is open up the zip you downloaded. Click the folder that says system. then click customize. then click resource. then you'll see the bootanimation.zip and the mp3 file. rename the mp3 file to SPC_animation_final. Or it might be spc_animation_final. I forget if the spc is capitals or not. It's one or the other. Then reflash it.
Edit> and what do you mean that was the fastest bootloader? The fastest it's ever booted up you mean? confused.

Once you edited it, flash it again. And also, as I said, I don't remember if it's spc_animation_final or if it's SPC_animation_final. And I may have not been clear, but make sure that when you renamed it, you left the .mp3 extension on the file. It needs to be there.
yeah i know. flashing now. 1 min bud
Can someone point me in the right direction to get hulu working on GB 2.3.4?
I've attached the libflashplayer.zip. Extract and you should have the libflashplayer.so file. You'll need Root Explorer and navigate to data\data\.com.adobe.flashplayer\lib and paste the file. I just modified that file and it's compatible with Flash 10.3. Please upgrade your Flash prior to applying this. Then use Dolphin HD and set your browser setting to Desktop. Then Hulu should load. That's my work around. This works regardless of which ROM is installed (2.2, 2.3.3, 2.3.4, or 2.3.5).
P.S.
Please hit the Thanks if this helps you out.

There is an app, but it requires you to use an outdated version of flash. It may not seem like a big deal until you visit a site that no longer supports the version.
The website method allows you to watch full screen too. It'll be/act the same way it does on your pc.

If it's not too late from now, you could try to flash THIS RECOVERY in Mobile Odin Lite, but it will still result in being unable to install to USB or SD Card. Then, reboot into that recovery and flash the recovery listed below in the attachments field, and it should fix everything for you.
