Hello~!
My phone is Verizon Droid incredible, and it was just upgrade to gingerbread.
But, I have too little phone memory now.
So, I want to increase my phone memory from my internal storage (eMMC).
How can I expend my phone memory from my eMMC memory?
My Android version is 2.3.4 and baseband is 2.15.10.07.07.
Also, it is not root yet.
Thanks~!

If your asking if you can use the emmc storage space as space for your apps the answer is no.
I assume you are getting the low space warrning in your notification bar. This is caused when the /data/data partition becomes full. You can either move apps to sd, use link2sd, or you can try jermaine and tiny's ext4_no_data_imit mod. The first 2 can be used without rooting, the ext4 mod needs root but in my opinion is the best option.

I have currently got a froyo rom with A2sd+.
I wanted to see if the built in app2sd is any good. So i had a app which is 4mb which i transferred by going to manage applications>move to SD.
This has been done but when i go back to the the internal phone memory, its still the same. I would have thought that this would increase?
If you were running A2SD+, the app wasn't in your phone memory to start with, so your phone storage won't change.

Dave
Ok thanks, but i thought a small amount of data was still on the phone memory?
When i install an app, the internal memory does go down very slightly.
So shall i keep it how it is or is it worth me moving some apps to the SD via the menu?
/data/data isn't moved on SD card as part of legacy A2SD (stability issues) and Froyo A2SD leaves private data on the phone memory too.
If you are happy with your legacy A2SD setup, there's no point using Froyo A2SD.

Dave
Thanks im happy with A2SD+.
I just want to use the method that uses the least amount of internal phone memory.

i have a htc wildfire which comes with a 512mb of internal memory. but as soon as i got my phone of the market, it shows only 90mb left under phone memory. i do understand that this comes from the built in phone apps, data, cache and etc. but i need an easy solution to free up the memory as it could slow down my phone. any help?
ps: my phone is on 2.2.1 froyo and hboot 1.01 so yeah i can't root it! :x
It doesn't come with 512 MB internal memory, but, with 175 MB. So, having ~100 MB on a stock phone is normal.
You are probably mixing up some other space (ROM, I think), with the internal memory.

You can look up any mobile spec listing site (Eg: GSMArena). It is clearly listed there 512 MB is the ROM Size on the Wildfire, not its internal memory.
Besides, I think the amount of internal memory can be seen under Settings also on the Stock ROM as well. (Not sure, since it has been months since I have been running the stock ROM), but, on CM7, it clearly shows Available Internal Storage and Total Internal Storage. (Which is 175MB)

yeah gsmarena shows that it has 384 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM. didn't say anything about internal memory. on the stock ROM it only shows the available internal storage space, nothing for total. so i couldn't figure out what was the total internal storage size..hehe
anyway thank for the info, it sure relieved me to some point guess i have to wait for the root to come. go unRevoked!
go unRevoked! +1 this
if you are not on 2.2 froyo, you can root your device with unrewoked...

WRONG.
If you are on 2.2, you probably have HBOOT 1.01 wich cant be rooted. Its about HBOOT, not android version.
I have a rooted Incredible with CM7 installed, and I'm having some trouble with the memory.
I have an 8 GB SD card and am currently using about 4 GB of it for backups, music, etc. However, when reading the system data on the phone, it doesnt even use one percent of the internal memory, and I keep getting a low space notification for installing apps.
Is there a way I can partition the internal memory to allocate more space for installing apps?
I don't think you can repartition internal memory, anyone feel free to jump in if I am wrong. Might want to check out S2E in the market, just have to partition your sd card w/ an ext partition & your phone sees it as an extension of your internal memory. Only works w/ CM7 btw.
Course, this doesn't fix the fact that you are showing only 1% usage & can't install anything... what numbers you get in settings when you look at installed apps? Amt used, amt available...

So I keep getting every week that my phones running out of memory space. I wouldnt mind the message but everytime that happens I have to clear all of my apps cache and data so I can be able to use the Internet if not it wont let me.What I dont understand is how?
-Obviously we have 8GB interior memory
-I have an external 4GB Micro SD Card
So my question is, is there anyway I can possibly use the interior memory of my phone (like the DROID X, etc does it) for the apps and cache and all of the sweet stuff. Since I mostly use my SD Card and a few gigs on the interior memory for music.
????
If thats not possible can I somehow override the message so it will stop bothering me and let me use my apps and internet without having to clear caches and data?
Thanks in Advance
I believe the ext4 mod is what you need to resolve this issue. Found here:

The low space warning is common among incredible users. It is due to the /data/data partition filling up because it was made ridiculously small by the manufacture, HTC.
You could move apps to sd either nativley, or with the many apps on the market. Link2sd is a great one in my opinion, and the way to go if you choose to use an app to solve your issue.
Or you could use the ext4_no_data_limit mod. What it does is move the app storage (/data/data) off of its own seperate tiny partition and instead uses the much larger /data partition to store your apps needed files.
The first option does not require root, but you have to know how to partition your sd for use with the app.
The second option does require root, and also that you have a kernel that supports ext4. The mod will install a compatible kernel for you, but you cant switch to a different kernel after flashing this mod unless it also supports ext4.
I would go the way of the second option, as it is more reliable than an app, and also is better because it does not use the slow sdcard or emmc. And the gingertiny kernel it installs has tons of perks, and is great on battery life.
Thank you guys! Tons of help
As i said in title, my roommate HTC desire eye storage,16Gb, is taken by system 9Gb.In the begining system was taking around 6 gb(kitkat), but after upgrades to lolipop and marshmallow, the storage for system increase to 9ish Gb and now he has almost 1,5 free of 16gb(and he doesn't even have much apps, except basics and some others utility and socials apps). I am thinking the problem is from the previous updates images/files... I will really apreciate who ever can help me.
Format your phone?
Or use a memory card and make it as internal storage.
