Wifi modules not working
Hi, I am using the DoomKernel for my xperia play and I have tried 2 wifi modules from doomlord but none of them seems to work for me, I can activate wifi but not get the ip from my network, it has been working perfectly before. Anyone know what can be the problem?
Thanks

I'm in the same boat
since multi upload is down I googled the file names of the modules and found them on rapid share but I think I may have the wrong kernel also ( none of the kernel link work either ) could use some help with links to the cdma 2.0ghz kernel and the wifi modules for it.
I flashed a kernel that was labeled a doom lord cdma kernel v10 on rapid share and it says under kernel version [email protected] #2 so I'm figuring it some one else's kernel it only goes to 1.6 and wifi doesn't work , I'm assuming its probably a combo of wrong kernel and wrong modules.

Installing wifi module withour clockworkmod
Hi, i'm trying to install the doomkernel wifi modules using only adb commands but it's not always working. I don't want to use to use the update.zip clockworkmod method.
Here's what i did
1 .I remounted using adb remount command
2. Then i pushed each .ko file inside the update.zip to /system/lib/modules
I got it to work a few times but i mostly got an error when i turn on the wifi.
Any ideas how to make this work? or is this not possible?
thanks in advance.

Just out of curiosity, why not just use cwm?
You probably need to chmod to set the correct permissions but I'm not sure what the permissions are

Installing wifi module without clockworkmod
Thanks for hasty reply. I'm making some sort of a desktop installer so i'm trying to reduce user interaction as much as I can. If possible i want it to be automated without the user needing to go to cwm.
Any ideas?
Edit: I checked the permissions of the 4 .ko files in /system/lib/modules and they are 777. After seeing other files inside system, most have 644, i changed them to 644. It didn't work.

Try this:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rmmod bcm4329.ko
adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules/
adb shell insmod /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko
That should load up the new wifi modules for you

i didn't see that file in the update.zip that i downloaded. I'm trying to look for that file in this forum now but all the links are dead since they banned most of the file hosting sites we use. I'll try that, and get back to you. Thanks man.

wifi...
Hi guys, I have a wifi problem here... On doom's dev thread for Xperia S, he provided 3 links for the wifi modules.zip, but I tried all of them and they don't work on my Xperia S, LT26_6.0.A.3.75_UK Generic on GB.
On the stock wifi module, it says Error when On, as stated in his thread
On the other 2 modules for Doom Kernels' , each time I try to power on the Wifi or Wifi teethering, the phone auto shuts down and restarts by itself :crying:
Any ideas?

Hey guys can someone help me. I don't wanna post a thread for a question like this, plus it's related.
So I successfully flashed Doomkernel V2 on my xperia play R800X, and then flashed the GB tweaked rom. No problems at all. But for some reason my wifi won't connect. It goes thru this never ending boot loop of obtaining IP, connecting, scanning etc. It's really odd. I've tried 2 wifi modules and the other one gives me an ERROR message on my wifi selection. Any suggestions?

All you need is the img, which is already rooted, the ftf is for those with a locked boot loader.
ok cool thanks thought i may need to do both as people were complaining of losing wifif, ok here goes then cheers for the help

Might be an idea if you do have issues to flash the ftf and wipe user data, but I just flashed the image and haven't had any issues.
Had to do both in the end as WiFi didn't work, all good now though

[Q] Doomkernel and CM7.2

Is it possible to have Doomkernel with CM rom?
And is it normal on CM7.2 to show device name LT15i while I have LT18I?
Yes use DooMKernel for CM7.
And you could change your build.prop to look like LT18i.

Ohh. But how do I do that? Do I need to flash Doomkernel first and then CM7 or Doomkernel and then CM7? Would appreciate a little step by step guide.
I tried both options, and in first I got bootloops and in second my touchscreen wasnt responsive at all.
And how do I edit build.prop?
Sorry for so many question at same time.
You should read one of the many tutorial here on xda, the reason why you got a boot loop is probably because you didn't wipe data, cache and dalvik.
To edit you build.prop, you need root access and a root explorer. Once you got that, you go to /system and you edit the build.prop file.

But now when I find build.prob with my root explorer and edit it with text editor, it lets me save it, but when I reopen, nothing changes. [I got root acces]
NVM. Solved that too. Thanks for answers
EDIT2: Ok, Kernel problem ain't solved. Which one should I flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1303635 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1172885
Since the for CM7 is for FXP046/7, and I have FX103.
The first link.
It doesn't matter.
Afaik that was a major release after FXP044/045 (correct me if I'm wrong), but either way it should work for newer FXP versions too.

[ROOT] LG Nitro HD Root Method - *Not working on latest update*

Hi all,
I've uploaded this root method because it is the only way I have been able to get root on the first try every time.
Your results may vary. If you don't get it first try, just try again.
Here are the methods I have tried and had fail:
UnlockRoot
Doomlord v1
Doomlord v4
TPSparky
SuperOneClick (Any Version)
So here you go! Here is a method that I have had 100% success with. I will be editing the script to try and make it more clean and less work on your part in the future. I will post new versions on this thread when I get them done.
Required Downloads
LG Nitro HD Root.zip
Enabling Root Rights
Enable USB Debugging and Unknown Sources.
Unzip the zip file to the location of your choice.
Run the file named “Root.bat”.
Follow the instructions on in the CMD window.
Notes
Here is a list of the apps that I have found will brick your Nitro if removed:
AT&T Address Book
AT&T Navigator
Google Play Books*
Google Play Movies*
Google Play Music
Google Play Store/Market
removal of at&t addressbook and navigator doesn't brick your device !
i confirm this !

Thank you for your input. But, I have removed both of them individually and bricked it. Also, several others have reported in other threads that it has. I believe it just depends on how much luck you have.
Just tried... no worky.
Again, I am trying to root on 2.3.5. Zerg fails, SOC wont make it past rebooting adb...

Matt your instructions for root say to extract from zip, root.bat. But your link takes me to a apk root file not a zip file...
can you be more specific or maybe the link is misdirected?
are you saying this is a root method via apk from phone?

But as to what? Run the apk on your pc o_0
His directions say dl zip, yet there is no zip it directs you to a page that looks like what may have been in the zip? Still not clear
The apk root ...it shows up on the phone but still unclear.
Need the link fixed or to be clarified please Mattman when you get a chance thank you.
Edit: is the zip you were refering to the lg tool that reverts you to v18f ?
If so will this work on official ics release via lg tool.
Thanks again in advance

Terribly sorry... The privacy settings on my Google Drive must have been reset somehow.
I've fixed it so that the zip should show now.
But it now says that you have binned the file. It works right, doesn't it?
Mattman your script isnt working.
When I hit "any key to continue" it flashes..but its not flashing anything.
Cmd window turns off (checked process not running at all)
nothing happens.
No instructions , nothing. cmd. window just exits.
so guesse thats another brick wall for root on lg updated firmware to ics.
Mattman sorry but this method does not work.
Or I should say it did not work for me.
I even put togewther my own rendition of your files that you compiled still would not work.
In fact I am now convinced the ONLy root method for the nitro running it the one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30209937#post30209937
Im not saying anything against your method, it looks solid, but it would not work.
I tried it on v20c and v18f.
I now have root but want to say your efforts and work are appreciated.
I hope this is not considering hijacking the thread I wanted to post this for others with the same issues.
EDIT: Mattman I been searching through the threads and seen that you initialy used this method off of 2.3.6? Meaning you rooted from 2.3.6? ( from the cwm thread you came up with a way via script to run cwm) I am wondering maybe your method only works from 2.3.6? what firmware did you originally root from?
i tried this method on my v20c and my wife is not working.. and never get root??
please help me

I've Lupus v5 too, I've tried to download Xperia root fix on the web but all links are dead because of copyright problems. And of course, I've problem with sudo su command...
At least I've succeed in giving rights to Titanium backup but at each time an other program ask for admin rights it fails so I don't really know where the problem is coming from. Maybe it come from the lacks of space in internal memory because the Markphyton's rom fills very well it ; I don't know...
If someone have found a solution...
But I just have seen Markphyton is working on a last version so maybe we must just wait for it and the problem will be gone.

[Q] Need to flash CWM through ADB

Hello,
I did something very wrong, I tried to change my kernel from Lupus to DoomKernel and picked the wrong one, the Xperia ARC one instead of Xperia Play (v22 instead of v14).
I now have a half-dead phone, stuck with a blank screen at boot, no recovery, no fastboot (fastboot keeps waiting for the device).
The only thing I can do is opening it through ADB shell and see the filesystem. It at least partially seems ok, since I managed to uname the phone and see my kernel version.
I saw matt4321's thread and thought it could help me to flash a new recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25052229
But unfortunatly, the linked online recovery build tool always *crashes* before getting the job done:
http://builder.clockworkmod.com/
repo sync failed.
Build step 'Execute shell' marked build as failure

My question is: can anyone help me to get a working (and ADB flashable) ClockWorkMod "recovery.img" file in order to mend my phone please ? Any working link would be greatly appreciated !
And please forgive my bad english (be assured I do my best to be understandable !).
