[Q] Phone rebooting in nightlies #256 - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone keeps rebooting whenever someone phones me, the screen goes black and reboots. Is there anyway to fix this? Reflash radio, flash nightlies 255?
Can you flash an older nightlies over a new one?
Edit: its fixed.

Yes, you can. Check your CPU speed. A very low min speed can cause this. In any case, it seems from the comments on the CM thread that the new nightlies are not working perfectly, so it might make more sense to switch back to a slightly older one.

Which one would you suggest? And can I flash an older nightly over a new one?
My CPU is set to 710 Max and 518 min

Yes you can simply flash an older one over a newer one. I am currently on #250 ATM, and no issues yet.

maybe your CPU old and can't work on 710 MHz? try to decrease CPU speed

Nah its cool. I fixed it. It was nightlies #256 was a broken build alot of things were not working but flashed to #250 and all it good. My CPU has never been the problem.

Download Stable
I Think that you are possible having a problem to do with the ROM that you have installed, the thing with night lies is that you are flashing a ROM that hasn't actually been De-Bugged and is not classed as Stable for everyday use yet so your best bet in my mind is to download the Stable CM7 from Cyanogenmod.com

I've been using Tiny's kernel released on 9/1 and I overclocked it to 1. 075 using smartass and battery life is great. It also helped with the performance and now it is even smoother. I really recommend it.

There are currently only two kernels available for Gingersense roms: stock gingerbread kernel and Tiny's. Not much of a variety or possibility for recommendations at the moment
Flash tiny during the afternoon and had 3 random reboot but other than that everything is fine. But I think I'm going back to the kernel this rom had for stock I just hate random reboots

Hmmm, it worked great on Nils' 2.1/3.0 Gingersense. I was running that for the past couple of days and it did bootloop once. I just flashed 3.0 with Tiny's kernel. I'll report back tomorrow.

Well, I can safely say Tiny's kernel works amazing on Gingersense 3.0. No bootloops, great battery life, and pretty fluid.
Test tuning yesterday and all day today. Is not working for me
Random reboots
Slow downs
Crashes
I'm going to use the one modded in nils 3.0 post. But thanks

I was going to suggest that if you had set a screen off profile in SetCPU then that most likely was the problem since the smartass governor automatically detects when your screen is off, thus not needing a screen off profile. If you have one then it screws with the kernel. Since you uninstalled it and still experienced problems then that must not have been the cause.
I've reverted back to Nils 2.1/3.0 with Tiny's kernel and everything is running fluidly. Everyone I've seen that uses this kernel with either ROM has nothing but good things to say so maybe you had a bad download, or just bad luck lol

Good to hear. It's easier to respond to bug reports in my kernel thread on the dev page as I rarely watch the other threads.
Which version did you come from when going to the Sept 1st one? I had upped the voltage slightly in the releases from the betas but nothing crazy. With this kernel there's no HAVS yet so voltage adjustment like in AOSP is not available yet. Voltage is the same at stock 1Ghz as 1.113Ghz so overclocking shouldn't affect power in this case. Remember that battery drain has a lot to do with usage and signal strength, though I try to add the tweaks I can (smartass+HAVS+UV). When I add HAVS it should be undervolted a bit more.

[Q] Stable Wildfire S Rom

Hi XDA'ers.
I know that this is a topic that is a matter of opinion, but here goes anyways. My GF is pretty annoyed with her Wildfire S, due to it slowness and lack of storage.
So what i am looking for is a fast HTC Sense 2.3.5 ROM with Apps2SD(ext) support, which is stable?
Is there any custom Kernel that is worth trying in terms of stability?
Which one would you recommend as a daily driver for a Wildfire S?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards

i think the best rom would be m1ndh4x8r GB2.3.5 for most people. For me i didnt really like that rom but i now use the HTC Thing rom which is pretty stable and can overclock to 825mhz. There are very minor bugs at times but shouldnt be much of a problem. BTW for the Thing rom i dont like the final version, so i use the version before it.
Those two roms are really facts cuz they have the supercharger scripts.
If you dont like those two Hensemod is also a good sense rom thats really stable too.
hey mads! (it's bene )
i would suggest cm7.2 by alquez and link2sd instead of apps2sd and a higher class sd card if you don't have it already.
and eoghan's kernel fits the rom really well and is pretty stable.

in my opinion i like cm7 better but didnt he ask for sense rom?
oh god, i completely missed that part, i'm sorry.
well in that case, if the person who's gonna use the phone isn't really tech savvy and already used to stock rom, i'd just root the device, remove some of the system apps that are not used, and use link2sd for the space problem.
if i was going for a custom sense rom, i'd go for .sense by benjamin.

is .sense fast and have enough internal storage without link2sd or data2sd?
Hi Bene Long time, are you doing well?
Yeah would definetly use CyanogenMod if it was my phone, but my GF is happy with sense, just not the internal storage of the phone, so therefore i'm looking for a stable sense rom.
Will give .sense and HTC Thing a spin later today then Thanks for the recommendations, hopefully one of them will work out
How is battery life with OC compared to stock clock? Do you underclock with screen of, and what govenor do you use?
Are you running stock HTC kernel or is there any kernel worth trying?

Hi guys.
So this is what i ended up with HenseMod6
This was the ROM that was most like stock, debloated and stable it seems. Had to make titanium backup of HTC widget to import to ROM, but otherwise not any issues so far.
Seems stable and fast, the misses seems to like it
My take on the other ROM's i tired.
HTC Thing's - Seemed to run stable, but didn't like the custom theme, and annoying boot sound.
.sense - download link not working :-(
m1ndh4x8r - Didn't run stable. Would always crash if CPU was running at max clock, even at stock frequence :-(
Phone is now running at 768/200/Smartassv2 with 1 GB apps2sd partition, with no problem

What ROM for my girlfriend? (stable, reliable, great battery life)

Hello everybody.
I've rooted and modded the Samsung Galaxy W of my girlfriend but now i'm facing a lot of strange battery issues: the battery drains really fast and she hates it.
I've tried CM9 RC6 and SlimBean but the problem is still here. I've got no time to waste on trying 20 ROMs so i'm asking you a suggestion.
She was really excited about the stock ROM. It was fair enough for her, apart from the bloatware that couldn't be uninstalled and some random reboots and freeze.
So, i'm searching for something like that:
Great battery life
Stable and reliable ROM
Possibly CM based or AOSP
In my opinion, a CyanogenMod 7 would be great, but i can't find it for the SGW.
Could you please help me?
Thank you!

My honest advice:
Do not consider anything except Stock ROM with Value Pack or CM9.
Its not that those other coders are not talented. But - it's like with those small, heavily tuned / modified Honda Civics driving around: Their owner / creators and other enthusiasts love them for their custom mods, but you really could/would not give such a car to your girldfirend, mother, or whatever.
sooner or later you run into problems that will never be fixed, nothing for daily usage by a non-IT-person.
With beta 6, i guess you mean RC6?
Battery lasting, the missing fm radio and a sometimes not-100%-stable camera would be the only drawbacks i see for it.
Performance and overall fluidity is at least one class over the stock rom, really remarkable.
Maybe there will be better battery performancee with CM9 in the future, as it is not really clear atm, what causes the impacts.
But i think its unlikely that it will ever reach the Stock ROM under this aspect, as the new features are simply likely to consumer more cpu cycles then before.

CM9 RC6 was actually my first choice, because a friend of mine is using it without any problem. Anyway, i've experienced the huge battery drain even with CM9 RC6.
I can give a try to CM9 RC7 but i'm wondering: wouldn't it be better to choose a ROM with the 2.x kernel?

Yes, i meant RC6, sorry.
Sadly, battery performance is crucial for my girlfriend. Anyway, i just want a "normal" battery drain; what i'm experiencing is a very massive battery drain, totally abnormal.

[Q] Need help with my VZW Galaxy Nexus!

Hey Guys!
I have a VZW Galaxy Nexus rooted and running on CM 10.2 (Have no clue what kernel it's running). The phone is great but i'm having a lot of issues. My battery life is very very bad! I know the phone's battery already is terrible as is but mine is really bad. It's becoming more and more slugglish. I barely have any ram free.
My question is what do ya'll suggest is the best ROM, Kernel, etc for me to have on it. I know its off of preference but what i'm looking for is an increase in performance overall. There is a lot ROMs and Kernels out there but I just don't which ones are the best to use. I've thought of a lot of things but don't know what I should do. Under-volt the CPU? Change the kernel? Run a lighter ROM? Basically what ever it takes to get my phone running like most of the newer phones till my contract is over lol. :fingers-crossed:
Thanks,
Alex
The best combination I found prior to getting my new phone is Shiny rom and leankernel

I ran aokp milestone (4.2.2) and either franco or AK. Right now on faircts PA 3.99 with franco. Unless you know what you're doing with kernels, I find franco to be an easy/good kernel to run that requires no tweaking. Also, disabling halo helps lag/speed
I accidently posted it in the wrong section so I posted it in the right section and didn't know how to remove it.
Thanks for the help

Ahh, I was looking into that kernel and rom. What do you think about paranoid? It looks cool but it looks like it will not run very smooth on the Nexus. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm not huge in halo and PIE which is why I like aokp better than paranoid but since aokp is still on 4.2.2 ....
that being said, I like fairct's a lot. It's quite fast with franco (couldn't get golden to play nicely) and is usually smooth though I have to reboot every few days (standard for me). I tried a few other 4.3s and I definitely think fairct's is the best thus far. I also really like the cm-10 file manager which you can get on aokp but I can't seem to get it on paranoid.
I'll move onto aokp and/or illusionrom once it gets to 4.3 (illusionrom can't get the home button working...kinda dealbreaker) since I don't really care for halo. I'm using halo now but it's not doing much for me

If you really want to run a stock ROM you could always invest some time into patching up the whyred device and vendor trees.
The two devices are mostly identical and essentially just need a blob swap.

Works fine for me. Whatever the issue is, it must be something you did wrong, or something the seller messed up with your device before shipping it to you.

You should have followed my guide and tried 8.8.9 eu first before using stable.

Can you explain what wasn't good? Did you try resurrected kernel with it? That eliminated lag.
No custom rom yet probably because pocophone just came out. Development has already started for that first than mm3 even though it's released later and I don't think many people like big phones the same as us

Does resurrected kernel work okay and stable with EU ROM? What are the pros and cons?

If you go to the thread - use my settings for best battery or tweak the max frequencies to your liking for performance. You can also choose between Performance, Balanced, and Battery for governor tuner in L Speed cpu tuner section.
Well biggest difference, 117-119K antutu to 130-132K - big enough reason. Aside from no lag and better battery. Plus, more tweaks are coming with better governors.

Sold! haha
i have got 13h of sot on eu
@opasha stop lying. Battery is worse, up to 10h sot and your settings do not work. Ondemand governon works so bad with this Kernel. Interactive + noop + OC gives up to 10h sot. Stock Kernel 13h-15h.
But performance is visibly better.

Go take a chill pill and come back after you've collected yourself. No need to call me a liar for no reason. I never said to use ondemand with noop on the latest kernel. Go check the resurrected kernel thread. My recent settings are there. What works well for me and others on 8.8.9 eu rom may not be the same for you since you're not even on the same rom. The newer eu roms have more battery drain - it's noted even in their forums from members. Everyone's SOT is also different. You stated the most useless information. Grow up, man. If you've got nothing productive to say, move along.
