I am using CM7 nighties and ever sense moving to AOSP I have noticed that all of my Facebook contacts that are synced with my phone come over with the "+1" prefix. When I go to make a call to one of them I am told that i don have a sufficient balance on my account to make this call. I am using Google Voice but this issue was around before I started using that. While using a stock Sense based ROM I don't have this issue it just drops the prefix and makes the call. I love CM& and AOSP and really want to continue using them but its getting old having to edit every number before i call it.
Have you tried turning google voice to only make international calls? Check the settings in the app.
Google Voice is what is telling me that I don't have a sufficient balance. Before I had Google Voice it would say that it was not able to place the call.

Hmmm you could try going to google.com/voice and changing your GV number linked to your phone. Have you ported your sprint # into google voice? I use two separate numbers, 1 sprint # and my GV has a seperate #. If you try that make sure you go back to call settings and select "voicemail number" and dial that little number that pops up to activate it again.
Or
Try going to all the numbers and removing the plus, google voice thinks you're calling long distance dude. I believe aosp roms don't like the +1 man you have to get that plus out lol.
Its a ROM issue. I was wondering if there was some setting or app that would take care of the issue.
I can't edit the numbers that are brought in by Facebook.

Ouch damn that sucks. It has to be aosp...ill do some research see what I come up with lol.
My last guess would be to try another dialer and use it over the stock cm7 one. Search market for "dialer one" or "go dialer".
Go dialer

Dialer one
http://market.android.com/details?id=kz.mek.DialerOne
I like go dialer but it is a no go. Still happens. This has to be in the rom some where.

This has to be an issue with the Rom's.

try going to menu-settings-call-plus code dialing and untick "north American dialing" thats what finally worked for me.

The only temp solution i have found with MikG 1.x is to go into your contacts and unlink the Facebook contact, hit done, and then manually relink the Facebook contact. This workaround effectively got rid of the +1 dialing prefix on the majority of my contacts.

dont know if wxcolon will chime in again, but you need to go to your google voice account www.google.com/voice and in your setting you need to disable that option about pressing "1" to answer it has to do with screening calls before you want to answer.
It has nothing to do with what rom you are on, it is a google voice thing.
From the googlevoice site:
Call Screening Call screening lets you know who's calling your Google number before you accept the call. It also allows you options on how to handle your calls so that you can choose to accept it, send the caller to voicemail and ListenInTM, or record the call.
There are two ways we screen your callers:
We'll show you their Caller ID on your Caller ID display.
As soon as you pick up your phone, we'll announce your callers to you. We've added this second level of screening ('audio' Caller ID), because Caller ID isn't particularly useful for blocked and unknown names and numbers. Once we announce your caller (for example, 'Call from Jack Johnson'), we give you four ways to handle the call:
Accept it (press 1)
Send it to voicemail (press 2)
ListenInTM on the voicemail (press 2 and stay on the line)
Accept and record the call (press 1 then 4)

Yup. Done it myself. One thing that will prevent that is if you don't use sprint "sign up option" that they have with Google Voice, just sign up the other way with your number. You'll actually get more options that way as well.

Anyone know why when I'm in gv app if I click add or view contact nothing happens..
Do you like using it better than sprint vm app?
Thanks
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
That is actually pretty weird. I have never tried to add a contact from Voice before you posted this issue. It don't work for me either.... Hmm...
As for your question as to which one is better? I have been using Voice since it was in Beta (invite only). I absolutely love it. It provides you a text transcript of your VM, which most carriers charge extra for. It also allows you to flag a VM as spam.
If you are lucky enough to have carrier integration (as I do with sprint) you can log into your VM account on line and set up custom greetings based on an individual number, or an unknown number, etc. You can also set up specific numbers that will be directed directly to VM or to just hang up with no option to leave a VM at all.
In short... I love this app.
Thanks! Yeah so far I like it. Too.
Only issues is like I said about viewing and adding contacts
Also sometimes if I call someone the caller Id
Is not my number... It's a 202 number
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
there is actually a setting that you can enable to choose what number is displayed on Caller ID. I do not use the Sprint integration. I have my Google Voice number separate from my phone's number. So whenever I call someone, it uses my phone's number. You can enable the option to make it ask you if you want to use google voice, and then it will show up with your voice phone number.
So after rooting and flashing ICS I installed the gv app and accidentally chose to let it combine my numbers, it whatever the deal is with sprint. Now I can't send texts or make calls from my actual cell number.
How can I fix this? I used the Odin oc format all to update from fc whatever to the latest fe whatever. And the problem persists.

If what kbizzle said doesn't work then you can got to google.com/voice and in the settings there you can disable that, it happened to me once lol

I did that with out having root or a custom tom had to call sprint and have them fix it on the network side

omg... thank you so much. I was pressing "1" to answer calls for almost 3 weeks.. I had disabled/enabled/uninstalled/reinstalled/disabled internet calling/deleted phone and re-installed and all the while on my voice app said that it was not enabled and I thought I just had a kooky phone.
No more pressing 1 for me. awww, freedom.
2 Quick Tips:
1.) The Google Voice homescreen widget has clickable text toggles to switch
between: Do Not Use, Use For All Calls, and Use For International Calls, and Ask
Every Time.
2.) As long as Google Voice call forwarding IS SET to "forward" and "Enable
Google Voice on your Sprint Phone" IS NOT ENABLED, you can save the inbound
GV number as a contact (also select custom ring) so you know when someone is
calling on that line. Additionally, GV can be set to screen incoming calls.
I generally toggle between "Do Not Use" and "Ask Every Time" when I want to dial out using my GV #.
Lol, never forget to go to google.com/voice after installed voice, it will take over your phone, every time I got a phone call it would send me texts and emails and all kinds of crap, receiver a text I'd get a text gv text, email, a letter in the mail, crap, change those settings lol!!!
Has anyone noticed that Google Voice no longer integrates into the stock Samsung dialer app? Basically the problem is, if I use Google Voice for an outgoing call, the number that shows up in the call log is the Google Voice proxy phone center, not the actual number I'm dialing. It also shows the proxy phone center number on the screen while the call is ongoing. On the original Note (which now runs ICS), the stock Samsung dialer seems to work as you would expect and only shows the number of the person you are actually calling.
I'm hoping there is a fix for this somewhere. I'm not sure if similar threads for the Galaxy S III that I've seen are applicable to the Note II since it is running Jellybean, and it seems like Samsung has updated the dialer app (it looks different from the ICS dialer on the original Note)
Yep, I saw that yesterday
Yes, gv on this device is def wonky but as long as it works I'm not gonna complain.
Then again I'm seeing gv is acting up on other devices as well. Is google slowly dropping support? Hasn't been updated since beginning of year I think.

Yeah I noticed it too. Here's how I'm dealing with it:
Assuming you set things correctly in the Google Voice app...
Calls - I don't call many people from my contacts anyway so every time that proxy number shows, I save that to the contact. I learned that each contact receives a specific number, so it's been working.
Texts - I downloaded an app called GV Integration. It costs $5. This app makes sure that all your texts use you google voice number going out.
Note: You may not need the integration app if you save all the proxy numbers in your contacts but I found the integration app before saving the numbers. The only annoying thing now is receiving the texts with the person's name also in the message. I hope all this gets fixed too though. This is one this Sprint has the upper hand on for every phone.
this is the same behavior on my S3 as well. not sure it's a GV thing though, cuz on my HOXL, GV stores the contact number in the log and not the bridge number.
I just refer to GV's own logs instead of the phone-dialer log. I do all texting from GV itself, and I only give out my GV number (not the native cell number) for others to text me. That way, all the texting is handled in GV, and comes for free without needing a texting plan from my carrier.
My S3 on Verizon did this initially, then started working correctly, the call log would show the number I called instead of the GV proxy number.
My AT&T Note 2 is showing the GV proxy number, which I find annoying and wrong.
Google/Samsung/AT&T: I would like my call log to show the phone number of outgoing calls when I dial with GV. Thanks
Bump
has anyone found a fix for this? This really bugs me..
same here. is google dropping GV?
This isn't an issue on the Nexus phones or the HOX. It has to have something to with the Touchwiz dialer.

Google Voice update came out today but alas the issue persists...so it must be the dialer that's the cause.
