So this new Galaxy phone Verizon holds exclusivity over in the US is turning out to be a giant flop lol. Verizon holds dominion over this new "Galaxy" device, and therefore it is not the true "Google experience," and therefore is not a Nexus ... The real Nexus just hit the UK and will explode its white hot awesomeness all over Canada soon. Looks like the World has an exclusive over the Nexus and the US has to wait until Dec 4th or whenever,
The true Nexus so far:
1) Is way thinner and not ugly
2) has a hyperskin coating on the back and not brushed aluminum
3) Is bloat-free lol
4) Is already released "exclusively" around the world, excluding the US
5) Is not under the twisted control of an evil carrier
6) Does not have any stupid carrier logos anywhere
7) Is cheaper (Phone itself, and Tmo/ATT plans vs VZW - $30 vs $95)
8) Uses a lot less battery because it doesn't have a huge/premature LTE radio
9) one word: Freedom... use the phone around the world, switch carriers whenever with sim cards
I just switched off Verizon and purchased my unicorn from glorious Handtec.
100Mins, Unlimited Text & Data (5GB of 4G)on T-Mo for $30, can't beat that XD I used to pay $95 on VZW for 450 talk/unl txt+web lol.
Anyone else switched off VZW for the Nex?

$698 I believe. It would normally be $595 I believe, if you bought it in the UK. But there's a VAT or whatever for importing

1) "way thinner" = 0.53mm? Really?
2) Where's your source saying the back of the Verizon model is brushed aluminum and not hyperskin?
3) The bloat on the VZW model (from what we know at this time) is TWO pre-installed apps. Big whoop.
4) Yeah the global model is already released, but being on Verizon I'm stuck waiting, which is fine. I've waited a year and a half for this phone, another couple weeks isn't going to kill me.
5) Yeah well, that's life
6) True. But the Verizon model has the logos on the BACK, and on the battery cover no less (not branded on the device itself), so big whoop.
7) You get 5GB data, I have unlimited, $30/mo. And that'll be on Verizon's LTE, so there
8) Where's your evidence that the LTE model uses "a lot [more] battery" because of its radio? Oh right, the phone isn't even out yet... whoops.
9) That's true of any global phone basically.
Have fun with your less phone minutes and capped data. Sure I don't talk on the phone much (and I'm on a family plan), but grandfathered unlimited data ftw.

1) yeah specwise i dont think .5 is too big a number, but when u compare the two side-by-side .. its somewhat really bad lol, and the colors r kinda diff? i dunno
2) oh it was on androidforums I believe, but if you look at the finish on the back of each Nexus you can see they are not the same.
3) Yeah the bloat is no big deal, i just think its the principal of the matter ya know?
6) same thing principal of the matter.. supposed to be a nexus, but again most ppl wouldnt care about this
7) wow nice dude. yeah im kind of worried about going over 5gb but it should be cool as long as i use wifi when i stream music (which is next to never ;p lol)
8) its just a known fact that LTE tech atm is premature and battery consumption is nuts with the 1st gen radios. This should be a lot better next year. Also, the Razr has good battery i hear, not because the radio isnt killign the battery, but because of the awesome Smart Battery (or something) app in the phone.
9) yeah i was tryign to say its cool cuz its a global phone, even though i dont travel lol.

As for the battery cover finish, I attached a snap from the Getting Started video uploaded the other day. Looks like hyperskin to me. (At least as well as I can see)
Where have you seen an actual side-by-side comparison shot of the two models? I know someone at Android Central made one based on a screenshot from one of the videos, but I'm pretty sure the colors and thickness of the LTE one look different because of different lighting in the pictures.
And as for the fact that Verizon messing somewhat with a little bit of the software on the phone as going against the principle of having a Nexus, I understand where you're coming from, but Verizon is by no means corrupting the spirit of this phone. This model (4G LTE, SCH-i515?) is Verizon-specific, so doesn't Verizon have some sort of right to do SOMETHING with it? All the GSM carriers selling the GSM unlocked model get identical phones, so no wonder they aren't carrier branded. Just saying.
I'm perfectly happy with the little changes Verizon is making, so long as they don't encrypt the bootloader or do anything to impede being able to get timely OS updates. (Yes, I know it won't be instant rollout like with the GSM model). This is the first time a Nexus phone has come to Verizon, and I'll be getting it
Do you have a link to were you bought it. I'm seriously considering doing the same thing, based on your list in your original post. I'm also tired of waiting.

There's no fee for importing. its £425 which is around $675. and they charge £15 for delivery to the US. so it comes out to $695 including everything.

I'm fairly sure it looks weird because he photoshopped it out of a video, not out of a press shot or something. Basically impossible to judge size and shape that definitively off of cutting an image out of a video.
Even if the phone is a tad thicker than 9.47mm like it's advertised to be, I won't complain. Just like I didn't complain about how thick my OG is (for the record, the GN is the thickness of the OG Droid minus the screen)
Topics like this one are the *EXACT* problem I have with this forum. People spouting knowledge about a topic they know nothing about.
Nobody even knows how the LTE version performs...so making assumptions about it is completely ridiculous. You make a post about all these "facts" when, in fact, very few of them are even true or confirmed. Allow me to go through the list:
1) Is way thinner and not ugly
.50mm is absolutely nothing...most people wouldn't notice the difference. Ugly? It looks identical.
2) has a hyperskin coating on the back and not brushed aluminum
You have no idea what the back of this phone is made out of...don't make assumptions.
3) Is bloat-free lol
Assumptions? Yes. Nobody knows for sure there is "bloatware" on it. The video everybody talks about is using a pre-release version of the hardware and software and Verizon might have paid to have the apps displayed in that video.
4) Is already released "exclusively" around the world, excluding the US
Because it's a different phone...the LTE model is a different phone than the one released around the world.
5) Is not under the twisted control of an evil carrier
lol
6) Does not have any stupid carrier logos anywhere
Firstly, they're on the back. Secondly, get a $1 battery cover and suddenly they're gone!
7) Is cheaper (Phone itself, and Tmo/ATT plans vs VZW - $30 vs $95)
Nobody knows what the price is, so your assumptions are invalid and ignorant. As for the plans...what? What TMo or AT&T plan is $30? I have AT&T and for the lowest amount of minutes and unlimited text and data I pay around $90. On Verizon the same thing is $90. I'm mad at the difference.
8) Uses a lot less battery because it doesn't have a huge/premature LTE radio
lol the reason you're saying this is because you haven't *used* LTE. Firstly, the LTE version has a bigger battery...meaning the "less battery" is pretty much negated. Secondly, it has ****ING LTE. The difference is speed is incredible (my Galaxy Tab connects at around 25/10Mbps...which is actually faster than my home internet).
9) Can be used on various carriers and around the world
I'm very mad at this too. It's too bad that the one time I leave the country every other year I'll have to use my company phone. Then again, I'll be on vacation...so I won't be using that, either. Not a problem.

But yeah, you use this thing every single day and it is much, much, much, more than just a phone Think of the extra $100 as a fee for getting this sexy unicorn two months early, anddd if the 32GB comes out in the next 90 days, you can return this one and buy that one (<--my plan, im going to keep the box + receipt ;p)
Edit: Btw just thought I'd let you guys know that Wrapsol is already selling the Ultra shields for the Nexy, "facebook" coupon knocks off 10% and imo its the best shield ever smoother than gorilla glass + u get a lifetime warrenty

I don't think they ever officially stated a day. I've thought for a while that they would release it with some clause that said no worry free guarantee exchanges for this device since a lot of people are planning on returning their razr or rezound too.. we'll see.

I called Verizon yesterday, the 1800#, and they confirmed the 9th, so this has to be a change if true
I can't wait until this thing is released, not because I want to get it but so these threads will end.
Wait for it or buy online like most people did here

Take a look through this forum. I think VZ would have to iron out all these issues before putting it up for sale. I doubt VZ is going to have thier tech support saying " oh you can just download this app to fix that issue". It's going to have to work 99%, or people will just bring it back in and swap phones. There really isn't anything so magnetic about this phone that will make a regular user say they can't part with it. Imagine 50,000 used phones, cases, screen protectors, cradles etc. I can understand a few issues with a new device, but it looks like there are quite a few.
So I guess we will just wait for the 9th and see.
this is what i know verizon has a **** load of iphone and razrs! wouldn't you try and get the most out of your inventory? i wouldn't want to price cut just to sell if i didn't have to, or at least prolong a long as possible
Verizon sucks. that's why I left them after 10+ years. They are like the Apple of cell carriers. Need to control every aspect.
So now they aren't releasing the Gnex cause their 4G LTE is crapping the bed... Seems their LTE service has all kinds of issues with each new phone that is released to it.

The phones are sitting in their stores. Its a little too late.
Verizon usually releases phones on Fridays? So of it misses this Friday, it won't be available until next Friday?

Do you seriously think Verizon will iron out anything?
Have you used a droid bionic? The phone is total garbage, riddled with bugs, and had plenty of Verizon and Motorola "testing time."
They will release it eventually and it will be full of plenty of bugs they missed. Who knows what the hell they're doing.

Well I will agree on one thing. Their cell reception is the best.
But I can't deal with their arrogance, and pricing. At the time the OG Droid launched (I got mine on first day), they said they were changing their style... going to be more open with regard to their phones. After the OG Droid was a huge success for both Verizon and Android, they pretty much went back to their old ways.
Now they are releasing their 2nd pure google phone. And they are dragging their feet with the release. Probably making google changed certain aspects of it, making it more closed then the GSM version.

I'll agree that the pricing is outrageous, but until someone with an equal or better network (see: competition) comes along, Verizon will be the status quo as far as high quality networks are concerned.
I don't think the latest delay has anything to do with the Nexus as much as it has to do with the overall network from a QoS standpoint. As a network technician myself, I can tell you that the issues being described with LTE SIM Card Authentication warrant a "freeze" until the problem is rectified. Why introduce a large amount of new devices onto the network without resolving the problem first?
Was just in a Verizon store buying a case for my GSM nexus. Guy said they had the phones in store but got an email a couple hours ago that it was no longer being released on Friday. Didn't have any details but seems like the article posted was true.

Funny I went looking for release dates. Mondays and Thursdays seem pretty common for Verizon. Also funny is the original 11/21 release date (I'm sure it was even earlier then that).
You know I've been on both sides. Push the release date until it's ready and people complain. Release the phone before its ready and people complain. Coming from a LG G2x, I can honestly say releasing the phone before it was ready was good for me but not for the population as a whole. The negative feedback it received as a "faulty device" forever scarred its name.

Motorola isn't exactly known for making phones that aren't riddled with bugs.....
This sounds more like something with Verizon's LTE network and not something to do specifically with the phones themselves.

Sigh... its pointless waiting for this phone.
now im not on verizon and the only reason im coming over is for this phone. (BE WARNED - RANT COMING)
I've been on sprint for about 10 years now, the past 3 years i have been on an employee plan paying 30$/month for unlimited everything. The sad thing is, i feel bad for the people paying full price on sprint because im located in Rochester NY and sprint service should be great here but i rarely get service indoor's recently. 4G is a joke and Rochester was one of the first places to get it turned on. So im happy to move to a better network and brought myself to pay the extra $ for the service.... so enough about how sprints network is going down hill and on to how Verizon F***ED this launch up royally.
Maybe i hate Verizon for not mentioning a word about this phone. Maybe its because the Galaxy Nexus has been out for almost a month overseas. Maybe its because i feel like not only have i been waiting for this phone but i've also been waiting for Google to release an exciting new OS. Maybe it's the fact that i KNOW this phone can compete in the market as one of the best phones and not to mention its the flagship phone from Google that can kick start features like NFC and such. but then i think to myself... What did i just see when i turned on the TV or when i went to that website. ADs for the RAZR... THE RAZR.... ARE U KIDDING ME?
okay okay, i understand, back in 2003 it was the coolest phone on the block. TIMES HAVE CHANGED, Verizon knewwwwww they were getting the Nexus, and they hate they can't call it Droid. the name droid (personal opinion) is UGLY. Im not saying Galaxy Nexus is any better but i dont want to feel like i have a robot in my pocket. The Razr just came at the wrong time and VZ spent to much money with s$itty advertising like they always do.
I was really really hoping to see some type of great marketing strategy by verizon starting this week. Something along the lines of this:
Mon Night Football. 5 to 10 second commercial, completely white background and just out the nexus right in the middle of the high def screen. no music. mahyeb a piano key or smething, with just a shot of this beauty... then at the very end, flash Verizon so people know, that phone is coming to VZ, wow!!?? (and yes i would love to see a "with Google" slapped in there somewhere but we all know Verizon would have a heart attack promoting anyone but themselves)
and keep showing the commercial every day with a count down until the release date (which i was hoping the 9th) so it would have been even sweeter to see that commercial knowing i can freakin get that this week!?!
people know the verizon brand, they like the verizon brand becuase its associated with a good network. FOCUS ON YOUR PRODUCT, THE BEST ONE U HAVE. make people say, woahhhhhh what was that???? and im not talking about the people like us who wait and wait and wait knowing we will hold out for this, im talking about your average consumer, the one who see's a product and says, damn thats good looking, i WANT that. i WANT THAT NEOWWWZ!
(hell i even made a s$hitty youtube video to get my point across)
but no. No commercials, no internet Ad's, only one spot on thier website to put your email in a box (which NO ONE likes giving out) for more information....
Verizon, you messed up. You had a chance to make a boat load even more of cash and you missed out. im not even your customer yet and i dread the fact ill be stuck with you for two years.
and now we have this, no Google wallet. im highly confident once developers get their hands on this phone they will find a way to make it work, but instead Verizon points the finger and says its not them. WHY IN THE HELL WOULD GOOGLE NOT WANT TO HELP ITS OWN NEW SERVICE?!? It just doesnt make sense.........
alright, i just blacked out with anger/frustration while typing this so i hope it makes sense and i hope other people see what im seeing...
oh, and one last note.. This ones for you Google. i hope you paid attention to this whole launch. i hope you learned your leson about dancing with the RED DEVIL. They will take your masterpiece and piss all over it.
In my opinion the main problem with this launch is that Google and Samsung allowed Verizon to take control of it. I hate to compare to Apple, but they take full control of their product launches and do not allow the carriers to tamper in any way. Samsung and Google should have grown some balls and had the phone launched their way. If Verizon did not want to play ball then they just release the unlocked version here as they did in the past.
Cool story bro. Lol @ video. Lame but funny.

Hmm, that's weird. My company spends just shy of $100k a year on Verizon devices (somewhere around ~800 lines currently)...and my rep is just as unable to get one to sell as anyone else.
And he is the rep for 5 other companies around our size.
I think there's a much better chance you're a Verizon employee or were able to play with one in the immediate vicinity.
Your bigger rant should be how a company the size of VZW can hose their entire LTE network with each introduction of a new device.

Yeah, and you can bet that the resolution will be quiet and nothing else ever said of this outage.
"Isolated" will be the spin. I was going to head over to Verizon and eBay the GSM GNEX I have, but I just can't fork over $85 for a tiered plan when I have unlimited on ATT for $40 after taxes (2nd line on plan).
Oh well.

Not saying I necessarily don't believe you, just saying the "don't sell yet" thing is pretty hard...they probably aren't even allowing the devices to activate on the network yet.
Beyond that, not a single person knows the date it's releasing now. The update said "indefinite", meaning nobody knows for sure. It's just suspected for next week, at the moment.
I won't promise anything but I will call rep tomorrow for some info

I disagree.
Seriously. Think about it from Verizon's perspective. Why would they put money and advertising behind the Nexus phone when they have the Rezound and Razr that just came out and are of similar specs? They control the user experience on those devices and can put their subscription apps preloaded on them. Not true with the Galaxy Nexus. Of course they're going to market the hell out of the devices that make them more money.
That said, I agree that Samsung/Google should have taken more charge with this launch. Nexus devices are about no compromise, pure Android experiences, and no carrier/OEM tampering. What I've seen of the Verizon version has contradicted this in a few ways before the phone is even out. Makes me very happy I got the GSM version. But at least the LTE one is unlocked and there will be plenty of ROMs and support for it.
So the other day I looked on My Verizon too see how much sooner until I could upgrade...and to my surprise I am eligible! Woo! My Inc has done well, but sadly, it fell on a carpet from a total height of 4 inches and cracked pretty badly. Still functional though. I cannot decide though. I would like the durability of a Droid Razr, the Rezound is nice but I don't want another plasticy phone. The Nexus is good too...but again, its all plastic. Why can no one but Moto make decent built phones???
Any thoughts, ideas?
I went from an AMOLED DROID Incredible to an LG Spectrum. It's an excellent phone. I know you said you don't want a plasticky phone, but you could always put a case on it. That's what I've done and it works wonderfully.
I compared the Rezound, Galaxy Nexus, and the RAZR. I greatly preferred the Spectrum. Its shape and size are perfect for me, as is its true HD RGB stripe screen. But I didn't want to burn my upgrade, so I got it off ebay.
Glad I did.

I got a Galaxy Nexus about a month ago, and it's been pretty great. The activation process was a little weird, but I think that's because there's no 4g in Vermont yet. The store tech said it's happened with a few different phones.
I love the screen, pure ICS is pretty great, the phone is so much faster than my Inc, and I don't really have any complaints about signal, battery or the screen. I also like the fact that if I decide to change it off of the stock rom, it's easier than the Inc. Unlocking and rooting it was painless.
That said, there are some promising phones that have been announced, but until they're in the stores, it's not a sure thing. Same thing with software updates - until it's officially pushed and received, it may as well not exist. If you want a new phone with ICS, get the Nexus. If you don't want the Nexus, but want ICS, I'd just keep waiting.
I'm not sure how long you can wait, but if you liked you original Incredible, the Incredible 4G will be out in just a little bit over 2 weeks. You can google to find out more about it, or heres a link to a post on a different forum where I gave some of the details... post 18 in this forum
I wouldn't mess with any LG android phones, personally.
And the Galaxy Nexus doesn't really have much going for it other than the huge screen (not really an exclusive feature) and stock ICS (also not exclusive if you root, which most of us here on XDA do).
As for plasticy feel... There aren't a lot of options out there that aren't made of plastic... and for me, design is always the lowest priority anyway. I think the Kevlar backing on the Razr is mostly a gimmick anyway. It's not as if the phone is made out of the stuff. It's just a covering on the back to, I guess, protect the back from scratches. It does nothing to protect the screen or the camera lens, which are pretty much the only parts of an Android phone that ever break. Plastic is pretty durable on it's own... that's why phones are made out of it (except the iPhone, which is made of glass, and that's why the thing shatters when it drops from greater than a foot... lol). If it's the feel you don't like, then just put a case/cover on it.
EDIT: I think the fact that your dinc screen cracked from a drop of 4 inches (on carpet) is mostly a fluke. I beat the hell out of my inc, and I've dropped it from about chest height in parking lots before and all it gets is scuffs around the sides and back. The screen has never cracked. Not to mention (although I already did mention it), the kevlar backing on the Razr that you like so much isn't going to protect your screen anyway.
I know it was just a fluke. See the other thing is I might just have to go with the Rezound...I'm in college...50 bucks on Amazon is a steal....

It's also $50 buck on Verizon. They dropped the price a week or so ago. They said "limited time" but I doubt that it will ever go back up.
I'm hoping (and optimistic) that the Incredible 4G will be released at the $199 mark (like the Evo 4G LTE). Not that I'm saying the Rezound is a bad phone, but over the life of a 2 year contract, that extra $150 isn't that much, especially considering what you're already paying in monthly payments.

It might be 20 months for the primary line, but for everyone else on the plan, it's 2 years.
The thing that's stupid is, the early termination fee if you cancel with just 1 month left on your contract is $120 ($350 minus $10 for each full month of your contract term that you complete). That monthly $10 adjustment should be $14.58 (350/24).

Hot off the presses... New information on the new Incredible 4G...
http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ils-of-the-verizon-htc-incredible-4g-surface/
Specs:
4-Inch display [unconfirmed - the tipster couldn't reliably measure the device, so this is an estimate]
qHD resolution
1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor (we suspect it's an S4, but haven't confirmed at this time)
1GB RAM
8GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
8MP rear shooter with zero shutter lag, VGA front camera
NFC
MHL
Beats support (no headphones included)
LTE
Android 4.0 with Sense 4
It doesn't say whether or not it's a removable battery, but it does say "an interchangeable back" so I'm assuming the battery is accessible. The lack of the sexy white back we saw in the leaks is a bummer, but maybe you can buy that separate.
Also note, 3 capacitive buttons, not 4 like the early images
Last comment... Why the hell did they swap the positions of the power button and headphone slot?

Ok so I'm sick and tired of dealing with sprint's pathetic excuse for "3g" speeds. And using 3 year old phone technology (lg optimus).
I've been a part of the android club since the G1 and my biggest gripe has always been the lack of hardware acceleration. Finally I thought, a phone that does this! But everyone is saying there are screen problems...and it's not as snappy as they wish it were.
Are the issues really as bad as some make it out to be? Or are these just people who like to complain for the sake of complaining? If I do order one what should I make sure to check...and how long do you have to send it back?
Really want to click the "order" button on google play...someone convince me!! I was waiting to see what the SGIII was going to be priced at...but I know it'll be way way more. I don't really like the idea of spending more than $400 on a phone.
Nobody can decide for you. If it doesn't work out, return it. You also have a 1-yr warranty for showstopping issues.
Every electronic device has potential issues. Mine has been flawless for months...and I'm not alone.
Regardless of what phone you order there is always the possibility of recieving a device with faulty hardware. In that case you can return it for a new one.
I can't really convince you either way. I love my Nexus, and haven't really had any issues with it. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who asks. SGS3 could turn out to be great, but if you are looking to spend a little less and want something now I'd go for it.

I do want it! Not looking for someone to decide for me...just hoping the issues aren't as widespread as some say. Seems like almost every experience I've read people have had to send the phone back 2-3 times to get a good one.
Kinda crazy for something that's been in production for 6 months now no?
I like mine. You could go to a Verizon store and check the screen out. The biggest gripe people have is on a grey background on low brightness there can be a grainy appearance. Meh. Don't get it if you care but honestly I don't
I haven't had any other hardware issues.

I highly doubt the Galaxy Nexus has any more or less hardware variability or faults than any other phone. People just like to complain, and the minority with issues are ALWAYS more vocal than the people who are happy.

Okay you convinced me
So what's the process for using this phone with tmobile's $30/month plan? I order it online and then take it into any walmart?
Yes, every phone does have it's faults, but the Galaxy Nexus' screen issues is very prominent in so many of these devices that it's ridiculous. And I can tell you firsthand that it is not just for the sake of complaining, a lot of these screens are terrible. I'm waiting on my 3rd Nexus to come in on Wednesday and hopefully there is nothing wrong with it. But I've read countless stories about how many people had to exchange their Nexus 7 or 8 times before they got 1 without problems. But I'm just informing from experience / reading.
Aside from the faulty screens I've gotten, I LOVE this phone. It's amazing and I would definitely recommend you to order this. If you do get 1 with a faulty screen simply exchange it. Everything about this phone is great and for me the Nexus line is the only way to go now.
Not even every phone but almost EVERY device that is made whether it is a radio, television, mouse, speakers, etc. There is a chance of defect. What matters the most is whether or not they will send you a replacement in a timely fashion without question.

Buy this: http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-phone/T-Mobile-Prepaid-SIM-Activation-Kit
When it arrives, activate it here: http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-activate
Put it in your phone.
DON'T go into a store. Its an "online only" plan. Call customer service if you need to port a number.
I strongly suggest that you read the Prepaid thread and specific $30 month thread before trying it out. There are some asterisks and fine print when it comes to prepaid. I personally am running this plan and love it. I just recommend you know what you're getting into before signing up.

You don't get roaming, you don't get good customer service, you don't get free nights/weekends/mobile to mobile minutes, your service shuts off on the 30th day of your service if you don't refill. Things like that.
That being said its still the best deal in wireless if you don't need many minutes. I mean I still use it . The pros heavily outweigh the cons.

Congrats, you won't regret it, awesome device I'm one of the people that likes this phone. Best damn device I ever held in my hands, once you root it and start flashing (If you're into that), you'll see that the experience will be even better. Enjoy.
If you want you can also try getting the SIM at your local T-Mobile store, to avoid waiting for shipping(I'm sure you'll get the Gnex quicker), rep should give you one. I would anyway..
Thanks everyone. Do you guys use a case/screen protector on yours? Or just never let it out of your hands?
It has curved glass so do screen protectors work as well?

Personal preference really, there's a bunch of threads around with in depth info regarding SP's and Cases.
Wet apps will always have the best edge cover, but usually might have a minimal orange peel (not all cases). Dry apps on a good quality SP will be crystal clear but might not adhere all the way on edges. My 2cents with personal experience...

I use a zagg screen protector and that's it. I feel the cases take away from it design too much. I bought my GSM gnex back in November from the UK (had it shipped international to the US) and I cannot complain about one thing. Screen has been perfect . This is absolutely the best android phone ive ever used by far. You will not regret your purchase in the least bit. Have fun with it, and welcome to the family!

Just got my paycheck so I'm going to buy the GN today! Very excited. The crashing+broken volume rocker on my Sensation was just too frustrating. Before I buy it, though, if I could ask a couple questions I would appreciate it:
1. Have you personally experienced any problems with the GN that have made you unhappy?
2. Do you think it's worth the $400?
3. I'm on T-Mobile US, which version of the GN do I need to buy? Is the one on the Play Store fine?
Thanks!!

The Play Store model is the phone to buy. I wouldn't recommend buying anywhere else if you're in the U.S..
1) I did, it was practically begging to be rooted and have AOKP flashed, so I did.
2) Definitely, look at other comparable phones and this is THE best for the money. Hell, even the SG3 isn't a huge upgrade. Just remember that there is no SD card slot.
3) Yes, I'm also on Tmo and I get 4G/HSPA+ speeds almost everywhere I go.

1. Have you personally experienced any problems with the GN that have made you unhappy?
2. Do you think it's worth the $400?
3. I'm on T-Mobile US, which version of the GN do I need to buy? Is the one on the Play Store fine?
Thanks!!

1. Asking this may get you a lot of anecdotal responses. No device is perfect. I will say, however, that compared to devices released around the same time, the battery life is short.
2. Given the specs, the fact that it's unlocked, and that it comes with a US warranty (from Play store), it's a great deal. However, "is it worth it?" is question only you can answer. There's always something new coming out - Galaxy S III comes out next month.
3. Yes. I got mine before Google started selling it through the Play store but now that it's available there, I wouldn't recommend a different source.
1) While I like this phone, there seems to be issues with some of the screens giving off a purple-ish tint at the lower brightness settings. Also at first I thought the battery life was bad, but after a few charge cycles, it's not bad at all.
2) It's a steal at $400 for a brand new high-end phone with warranty. You can similar phones like SGS2 or iphone 4S for around the same price on craigslist, however they are used and you never know...
3) I'm using my google play phone on t-mobile, and the speeds are pretty awesome.
I have the Sprint version. I'm rooted and installed a custom Rom.
I really like:
1. The amount of developer support.
2. That its pure Android with NFC. I use Google wallet and NFC tags for automation.
3. The large (not perfect but good) screen.
4. The phone feels good in my hands.
Don't like:
1. The short battery life. I use my phone a lot because I like it. Purchased 2 extra stock batteries to compensate.
2. The low volume from the external speaker.
You are getting a good price for a phone that should see several updates. Phones with better hardware have been released and will continue to be released. But this phone will be fine (for me) until the next nexus release. I go through phones. I hope this is helpful.

I wouldn't really call them "issues" just a few niggles. Wi-Fi range is somewhat weaker than other devices I've used. People have had different experiences with their screens. Some people have perfect and others less than perfect. Some say they have banding or black/purple spots and all sorts of issues. The only thing I've noticed on my phone is when I look at the screen from an angle in the dark, it has a slight blue tint. It doesn't affect the performance of the phone or make the screen hard to use for me. It's just something to note.

YES, YES AND YES. There aren't enough yeses to this question. Very few phones of this quality you can get brand new, guaranteed updates from Google, a huge developer community and knowing you own your own phone. My contract ended last month and I've been using prepaid since I got my GNex and I love it. Saved money and pretty much the same service as contract.

Yes, I bought mine form the Play Store and use it on T-Mobile's $30 plan. It's GSM unlocked and pentaband so it will work.
Dropped my gnex on concrete and the screen broke dropped the nexus s about a 10 x and it was fine. The screen is fickle

1. I wish I had bought the GSM version
2. Forgot the question. EDIT: Yep.
3. Wish I had done that, but verizon...
Sent via a butterfly wing flap generated program. As its delicate wings flap once, disturbances ripple outward, changing the flow of the eddy currents in the upper atmosphere. This causes momentary pockets of high pressure which act as lenses, deflecting cosmic rays, focusing them to strike the drive platter and flip the desired bit. That's how real programmers do it.
My white one will be here tomorrow, CANT WAIT!
Can´t answer the 3rd one really but...
1. Out of the box I was very unhappy with the phone. But this was 4.0.1. No GPS, no WiFI, horrendous battery life, data drops and what not.
Having updated the phone and later rooted and started fiddling around with different ROMs and especially Kernels I'm growing more and more fond of it.
Now I know how to make everything work and the ROMs and Kernels are getting more mature. Battery life has increased more than 300% for me compared to out of the box.
I´d say it´s a wonderful phone for people who doesn´t like to go stock, but rather want to change around and personalize their device.
2. I went from: No way!! To: Hell yeah!
EDIT: Spelling.. :S
1. Yes, screen quality sucks (development overweights this issue for me)
2. Yes, its worth $400 bucks
