This is now included in my MoDaCo Custom ROM for the Galaxy Nexus - details.
Here's something i'm testing on my GN that I thought i'd share. I personally find the auto backlight levels a bit low, so i've tweaked them a bit. This is very much in TEST phase, let me know how you find it and if it improves things for you. This is for expert users only at this stage, install via ClockworkMod recovery.
This is tested on devices running the ITL41D / ITL41F ROMs.
Update: There is now 2 different files with 2 steps of brightness increase!

Paul , your putting in work so far man .
Great stuff, after going from my SGS2 to the Nexus I couldn't believe the difference in brightness profiles. Thanks Paul!
What have you used instead of /sdcard/ since that doesn't exist
Thanks - works with a noticeable improvement for me.
Ok I seem to be getting some errors here I can't figure out.
I've rooted using Pauls Superboot, however when I try to backup the framework.apk to sdcard I get No such file or directory.
If I just pull it to my pc and rename it and push it works fine.
Then when I try to remount I get
mount: Operation not permitted
Anyone got any ideas?

Now that we have a working CWM can this be made into a flashable zip?

Yes! flashed, will test differences when is charged
This looks really nice, will flash it in a bit.
How do I restore the back light settings to default if I don't like it?
Have made a cwm backup but a default flash able zip would be much easier.
Really appreciate having well respected devs putting in all this work so soon after release.

Paul, this does not help with the auto screen power adjustment issue does it?
If I have auto brightness off already, this would do nothing for me right?

PS: Paul I have diffed your autobright patch to stock - and there are no changes I can see. I confirmed with he_stheone64 and we both cannot find any changes, certainly not in arrays.xml
Maybe forgot to copy the file before compile in the house-moving rush?
any tutorial?

I can confirm this. I noticed that there is no visible change compared to stock and took a look myself.
Paul, until you have re-inserted into your MCR, is it safe to use the standalone patch with MCR v4?

Huh, weird! I'll look into it, maybe I uploaded the wrong file?!?!
Standalone patch should work with MCR.

Has this been fixed or confirmed as working? I'd love for the base auto-brightness level to be the same as the minimum selectable brightness level. That would fix the majorty of the banding evident.
Is anyone else noticing that their brightness doesn't change at all when using the auto feature? Maybe a sensor in my thing is broken or unresponsive; does anyone know an app or test that can check if the sensor(s) is functioning correctly? :x

I used smali and allowed each APK to reference all of the .odex files in the framework, added the classes.dex files to their respective APKs, and zipaligned. I don't know if it matters, but I did those steps through the command line, although I'm sure the process would be a lot faster with a script. If you would like the exact line-by-line process that I used, let me know.
So how is this Rom & all I have to do is download & flash it or is there another step to do?

The procedures are the same as for other ZIP-based ROMs: download, transfer to phone, and flash through recovery. You may or may not need to erase your data (depending on which ROM you're coming from), but backing up your data beforehand is advisable and never hurts.
I haven't received any feedback regarding this specific ROM yet (I don't know if that's a good or bad sign). The main difference is that it's deodexed and will decompile without errors. I'm sure there are other threads with more in-depth information on IMM26 changes/improvements/issues.
SuperUser
I was impressed with this rom for the first few minutes I used it. But then I found out that my SuperUser app wasn't working. I tried updating the binaries through the app itself but it couldn't gain root access. I downloaded the file again and flashed it again but SuperUser still didn't work. It was the same problem with not gaining root access. So I flash the SuperUser zip file from zedomax's tutorial on rooting the Nexus S 4G and I was able to gain root access. Just thought I'd tell you.
mvilla, how did you fix the superuser root access problem? i am having the same problem when i try to update binary, and im getting permission error when i try to flash recovery in rom manager, i think is because of superuser not working.
I went to nexusshacks.com and downloaded the nexussrootICS.zip file (I think that's what its called). There's a SuperUser.zip file within that zip file. I moved the file to my phone and flashed it in recovery (wipe cache and dalvik cache of course). And its working well.

Hey buddy, I'd LOVE to have the step-by-step, or line-by-line on the process you used to decompile. If you could PM me, or post it up here for everyone to use, that would be great!! I'm kinda new to the decompiling and compiling scene so any help would be great! Also, you said that most devs that use ICS probably use a kitchen to decompile and compile their .jar and .apk files, where is this kitchen? Or are you talking about Android SDK?

Did you ever get that step-by-step process for deodexing ICS from the OP? If so, can you send it to me?
I guess the Google Apps are included?
Will there be any further updates to this in the near future, or has this reached the end of the line so-to-speak? Just curious because I like having the natural AOSP of this.
Been using this since the 9th and I have to say it's very smooth. Very stock too, which obviously is what it's supposed to be. Just saying that for anyone who comes in looking for something customized. This is basically pure vanilla ICS.
Sorry for the delayed replies. I've been hammered by other obligations lately.

I have replaced the Google apps that have been updated since the IMM26 release. There are rumblings that the official ICS ROM should be released sometime soon. I'm not holding my breath, but I'll offer the same thing to that release once it comes out.
If you're asking about adding functionality or features, I don't think I'd have anything unique to offer since there are so many other ROMs and customizable updates out already. I have considered including FaceLock functionality, but it adds quite a bit of size to the ROM and honestly, it hasn't worked very well for me. If there is enough interest, I'll include it as a separate revision in the future.

I just wrote this this morning and finished testing in my phone. All is working fantastic!
This mod is to bring back the Lens Flare Effect.
Here are just a few previews and the rest are viewed from the installer in the update coming soon.
AURORA
FIRESTORM
LIGHTNING
METEOR
STARGATE
SOLAR SYSTEM
BLOOD SPATTERED HANDPRINT
BLAZED
METALGEARS
INFERNO
I have included 11 different choices all installed via Aroma Installer from custom recovery of your choice (I used TWRP). This mod does require that your rom has "init.d" support as this does need a script called at every boot to work. AGAIN CALLS SCRIPT UPON EVERY REBOOT. The script depending on each phone should take longer than 30-45 seconds. Basically flash the mod reboot and the next time you turn on the phone the effect will be active.
DOWNLOAD FLARE_LOCKSCREEN_v1
Instructions for installation -
*Make a NANDROID ALWAYS AND OFTEN when modding your system!
*ROM that supports init.d script
*download and check md5 is good
*reboot to recovery and flash the zip file
*pick the effect you want (sorry I don't have the previews for the installer set up yet)
*reboot and let the script work it's magic and by time you turn your phone back on a surprise will be waving at you.
*hit the thanks button
Feedback?
Just looking for a little feedback as far as working or not? It's hard for me to tell what will work and won't work for everyone sometimes due the fact I am always testing a very heavily modded rom. I went back to Stock and started fresh with this so I'm thinking it should work for all its pretty much a script mod with only a less than 10 images. Only stip is your rom must support init.d, which most custom roms do these days. So let me know. This will also be in the Missing Link update which will include previews.
OP now has previews
Here are just a few so you get an idea of what this offers.

I had to update my sqlite3 in xbin and i was missing lib file libncurses.so. so may want to add that to your download script in aroma. Also had to change perms on the intd file keygaurdset from rwrr to rwxr-xr-x. Think the biggest issue for me was the sqlite3. Not sure if the initd perms are part of it. Ive read different opinions about setting those (0644 vs. 0755) Have only tested lightning effect and changed ripple effect to light effect in lockscreen settings. Hope that helps. Keep up the inctedible work. Really think you're onto something with the aroma themer. Size is the only limitation but for what it does its worth it. Great work!

This is by far one of the most helpful feedback replies I have received! Thank you and if you see anything else or have any suggestions I'm always listening. About the sqlite3, the one included in the zip needed to be updated?

Well i have an installer that does both sqlite3 and the lib file. So yours may be ok. I made a backup of yours and will test it now. Going thru the effects to see which are working. I'll report back directly.

Your sqlite3 is good. So far lightning, solar, and metalgear all work. Ill test them all but so far so good. Thanks for your hard work and im happy to test out anything you have. Ive been meaning to fix a few things on the aroma theme installer for us sprint guys (Forgot to mention its sprint note 3 earlier) just havent had time to do much. From what i understand the dialer themes are in teleservices so hopefully its a simple matter of changing the folder name. That would be sweet. Ill look into it unless you already have the fixes and just waiting to update. Ive only used the system mod and spinners switches and toggles and boot/shut animations but everything ive tried has worked. Signals too.
All options work great! Excellent work and thank you again for it.
Not working for MOAR, or how to?

Not show why it isn't working. The mod requires init.d script on boot. So you have to give I little bit, no longer than a minute I would say. You have to unlock the device and by next time it should be showing the effect you picked.
Can anyone confirm this working on Moar?
Works with MetalROM
Works great. Had to change "Unlock Effect" in lockscreen settings to "Light Effect" to get it to work (had it set to ripple effect.) Went through other options, definitely has to be set to light effect for the custom effect to show.
Thanks for this, the blood spatter works great with my deadpool theme!
Wow man..pretty awesome! On a sprint note 3 MOAR port as well and am using the bloody hand splatter for halloween..awesome job!!

Glad you got it figured out. I will update the OP with that info. So you guys have the option for light effect?
Don't seem to have those nice options over here in Tmo. I'm sure with rompit and TD working things you guys probably have all the options plus some made up ones!!
The mod is "supposed" to change the settings on boot. So it is only partially working it sounds like. When you reboot, do you have to adjust the setting again, or does it stay?
On reboot it changes to "None"
Attached screenshots of settings screen.

Wow! You have some options it looks like. Must be running Moar? Anyways, change lockscreen to light effect then with whatever file manager go to system/etc/init.d and delete the keyguardset file. Reboot and should be good
Using MetalROM 2.2
Deleted the file, still reverting to "None" on reboot.

I'm guess I still have a few links to work out to make this more universally compatible. Sorry for the hassle. Take a look at this post and see if that helps. It's the manual way of setting it. If you are really wanting it and can't get it going, send me your settings.db the location is found in that post
I guess it helps to have the link huh? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56312291&postcount=7
Made the change, but it didn't stick. What should the permissions be?
File says invalid file when I try to attach settings.db

Remove the .txt from the file attached and replace the file you currently have. I made only the change for the lockscreen effect. Mine shows permissions set to rw-rw----
Are you using v1.1a? Recommend using that first
DOWNLOAD FLARE_LOCKSCREENv1.1a
@stangdriver44, where is this located in missing link installer? Would like to give it a try. They look very cool! I'm on S5 MOAR - am a little confused after reading through thread. Do I have to do anything extra to enable?
Rom based on this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p9000/development/rom-aokp-nougat-t3690278
Full credits go to the AOKP team who made the rom for P9000.
To use on P9000 Lite you may need CWM 3.0.2.8 and you have to restore the backup zip provided in the link.
Features:
- Same as P9000 AOKP rom.
- Gapps (Micro) come preinstalled.
Warnings:
- The unpacked rom uses up to 5200MB, so make sure you got free space!
- Put the rom backup on an SD Card, not on internal memory.
- Fingerprint options make the settings app crash (Obviously).
Bugs:
- The rom occupies about 20GB because of a bug.
- Charging seems to be painfully slow. (If someone could fix this, it would be really awesome.)
Installation:
You have to put the folder from the zip in TWRP\BACKUPS.
It should appear and then you should be able to see the rom and install it.

(Please post to mirrors and post comments with the mirrors, and I'll update the original post)
Good luck!
Update:
For my phone, it charged the battery a bit, or so it seems, and then it kept going down.
Not sure what the bug is, at least for now.
So keep this in mind while downloading.
Any contribution is greatly appreciated.

ATM I can only point you to CONFIG_MTK_PUMP_EXPRESS_(PLUS_)SUPPORT.
Did you set the following in devconfig?
Code:
CONFIG_MTK_PUMP_EXPRESS_SUPPORT=y
CONFIG_MTK_PUMP_EXPRESS_PLUS_SUPPORT=y

I'll definitely try doing that but for now I took a break, since finals are coming.
If somebody fixes it before I get to have some free time, that would be even better to be honest.

i doubt that will happend, i dont think many people use the lite version, me in particular use the normal version, so i cant really fix it.
Do we know if anyone fixed it?
Sent from my Redmi 5 Plus using Tapatalk
Hi!
Anybody fixed the problems?
Hello.
I was going to continue porting this but unfortunately my phone failed so I was forced to buy a new one.
I'm afraid I can't work on this anymore, as I no longer have a p9000 lite
