T-mobile: Galaxy Nexus "coming soon" through Best Buy stores - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have been told by two different contacts at T-mobile (my local Tmo store and a Tmo phone rep) that the Galaxy Nexus is "coming soon", but will only be available through Best Buy stores.

I think those rep just found out about the Nexus S...

We'll see...
I'm here >=P

Believing in-store and phone reps with this kind of information has historically proven to only enhance our own wishful thinking. Bad idea.
So I suggest everyone take the "coming soon" part with a huge grain of salt until more concrete information is made available. If only for your own sanity.

I agree but her initial response was that she did not know. She then did several searches and found the info in her T-mobile system. FWIW.

First inklings of Best Buy mentions.
Feels good man.

If it was in their system listed as coming soon I think it would've leaked by now.

According to bb employees they don't go into the system until the press release is out.

This was not a Best Buy employee. It was a T-mobile employee, and it was only a "notification" of coming soon to Best Buy. The phone was not actually "in their system". I fully understand that there is no concrete information about this at this time. I am just digging for information, and this is all speculation at this point, but since T-mobile has taken this route before, it is plausible that we could see the Galaxy Nexus released like the Nexus S was released. Again... speculation.

Hmm, that's an interesting twist. I remain very, very guardedly optimistic.
If we get some leaked Best Buy documentation soon, I will sacrifice many lambs in your honor :]

its hopefully the unlocked version coming to best buy? Either way since its pentaband we should be able to use it with at&t tho it may require a unlock?

I am also monitoring a page at Amazon which has the Galaxy Nexus (unlocked) listed but shows a status of "currently unavailable", hopefully that will change at some point.

Yes , folks I am "grasping at straws", but with the lack of any information here in the US, it's about all we can do.

They're unlocked out of the box. And it works with AT&T.

I called tmo yesterday to add corporate discount to my account and ended up speaking to 3 diff departments. It looks like they don't have any info on the Galaxy Nexus. This leads me to believe that they won't be carrying this phone anytime soon.
While speaking to them they told me about a sale they are having this Saturday. Found some more info here: http://www.tmonews.com/2011/11/guest-post-explaining-the-“value”-in-value-plan/.
I'll be buying the GN unlocked and will go for the $70 plan which includes 2GB data. I hope Amazon US carries it too.

I would rather amazon carries it than best buy. Paying 8.25% sales tax on a $600 phone is pretty painful.

eBay Daily Deals Has The Unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus For $370 Shipped

I hope this is the right section to post this. eBay is by offering the GSM unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus for just $370. Not sure of this but it seems like if you live in California, you won't even have to pay sales tax - making this an even better deal than Google's $400 (which totals out at $440 with tax and shipping for CA). Probably won't last long so hop on it as quick as you can if you're in the market for a GNex.
eBay
I saw that. I'm wondering what build it comes with and I highly doubt it'll be with a USA warranty.

It could be any build. You're really taking a chance on what build it has by buying one not direct from Google.
I thought 400 was a good deal but 370 is even better.

It says in the bottom of description it is a international version. Better to go with Google play IMHO. I got mine without tax so it was a good deal.

What will be different about the international version besides the default language & the power adapter? Also, why is it important what version of ICS it's shipped with if there are OTA updates & custom ROMs?
Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be sure about everything before making the purchase.

Only differences I can think of is that the international version doesn't come with U.S. warranty. There's also the likelihood that the US GSM variants (Takju) may get the JB update first followed by rest of the world. Of course, that's just speculation.

The most important difference is that you're up **** creek when it comes to the warranty. If you have any problems with your phone Samsung USA will do nothing to help you. You'll have to struggle to communicate with whichever country's Samsung branch handles your phone, and supposing you convince them to service your device, you'll have to pay costly international shipping and experience the extra long wait times that that entails. One guy was on here earlier talking about his struggle to navigate Samsung Poland's automated customer service line.
This is a phone with what's getting to be notoriously hit-or-miss build quality. To me it was worth paying the extra 40-70 just to have that insurance.

And it's likely the international device won't be "yakju" out of the box. So you'll have to flash it to Yakju or Takju manually yourself.

Doesn't matter if you just flash the phone to yakju/takju yourself. It only matters what software you've currently flashed, not what it came with out of the box.

So I just bought this. Does anyone have a link to instructions or a guide to flash the takju build before I set up everything on the phone. Thanks!

Note II in Costco??

When the Note I came out Costco sold it for regular price with Flip Case and two Screen protectors. Does anyone know or have gotten the Note II
at Costco? If so does it come with same accessories? Haven't had a chance to make it down there to ask them.
I was told they are getting it near launch date. They already sent back original Note inventory. Accessories unknown but usually lame except for one OEM they include.

AT&T at Costco....
I was at Costco before as well, and noticed that the Kios/stand didn't have the AT&T phones anymore. I asked what happened, and they said they are no longer doing AT&T phone in the store, but will still do it online... I'm not sure if it's all Costco, or just in my region(Northwest)....
I asked about the Note 2 as well, and they were only able to answer for the carriers that had in the store..
I have not seen it online(haven't checked yet today) on the Costco site... so, just ended up pre-ordering from AT&T...
I work there...we still sell at&t phones and service through the with wireless advocates kiosk. I have no clue what the accessory bundle is going to be, but I'm pretty sure its going to be 279.99 or 289.99...we don't sell phones outright. Only new, upgrades, and add a line.

I do know its only going to be for home delivery as of now. You'll be able to go online yourself or go to a kiosk and the employees there will order it for you. Kind of sucks, I understand why (note is still considered a niche category phone).

Depending on the type of account you have, they will honor the 14 or 30 day return. After that, 90 days for device swap for same device. Just an FYI for you. As long as you're not one to abuse this policy, they will help you anyway they can.
Only downside is they hardly ever have pre-orders. I've only seen the one s for tmo.

First, what accounts for the price differential between the $375 option and $145? Second, that's their misrepresentation and liability for incorrectly providing consumers with incorrect options.

I actually asked a rep via online chat about this and she said NO, what is listed on the site as "in the box" is all that is included. I was wondering the same thing because AT&T costs a little more than some of the other carriers. She cited reason as AT&T phones are slightly different and can work outside the U.S or something??? Don't know if I believe that, but thats what she said.

Samsung blocking imei's by what method?

If the rumor is true and Samsung is truly going to block imei's after September 30th of phones not replaced under the recall how would they go about doing this? I would assume by silent OTA. Would running twrp and custom ROM be able to stop this from happening? Before anyone assumes I'm not replacing device by choice this is not true. My eBay seller is unwilling to exchange my device and Samsung is unwilling to help since it was bought on eBay and device is international and I'm in the usa. So I'm in a bad spot and refuse to have a$900 paper weight. I'm looking into other options with eBay on somehow getting my money back but it looks to be a long shot.

IMEIs can be blocked through networks not by OTA or software, it's literally a block from using any mobile network by the network worldwide.
Yes I did use PayPal and a credit card that is setup through them. I am within the 30 day return window. I did read that the return is only valid through a defective product or item received not as described. I would consider the recall a defect but we willing have to see if they agree. What is the likelihood they would send all these imei's blocks to every carrier in the usa on an international phone? I would that would be highly unlikely. I would say the usa versions imei's I could see being blocked but an international devices imei? What do you think?
I reread a post that it would be worldwide block through all carriers. I can't hardly believe they can do this on a product you bought that they won't replace because Of where you bought it. This is becoming a real pita

I'm looking into other options with eBay on somehow getting my money back but it looks to be a long shot.

rumors are rumors.....unless samsung release a statement stating that they are going to ban the IMEI everything is smoke and daggers.........exchange can always be done at the sammy regional store/office where they device was first purchased (in this case...where ebay seller got the phones from initially)
while the F version is called the "international" version....each region has their own variation of the F model......
buying from ebay is like buying your neighbor's car......once purchase in good faith......your neighbour is not responsible for any maintenance thereafter.....

IMEIs are blocked worldwide when they are blocked. It's a worldwide system for stopping device usage after phone theft.
Omg I don't want a $1200 CAD paperweight..
I think a lot of the ebay seller, ebay themselves, and PayPal issues and problems regarding refunds and exchanges. Is mainly due to the fact that the recalls were new and no one really had any idea of how to go about it and were just pushing blame.
If you wait a little bit for the smoke to Settle and there is a little more clarity on what is going on, in regards to the recalls and procedures.
Maybe some of these entities may reverse or take a different stand on their earlier decisions if you revisit them, after they get a better understanding of what is going on and how their earlier decision just left their consumers. Screwed. Especially ebay and PayPal who are suppose to protect the consumers with buyers protection.

My seller (never-msrp) is just giving me the run around. I keep messaging him/her/them but their telling me their still waiting on what Samsung is going to do and or tell them how to act when being asked about returns.
I don't want to return my device. My device works beautifully. But now this $hit Samsung might deactivate non exchanged possibly dangerous phones has got me worried and Ihave no idea what to do...

recalls work different way.....since the device it not defective......so i don't think its a matter of pushing blame.......
buyer protection is only useful when you haven't got the item or it isn't what is described.........the devices wasn't defective when you received it......it was in working order.......at this point....its mostly out of ebay's hands since it came as advertised......
paypal will probably look at it....and say.....the transaction was made in good faith between you and the seller......(because the product came as advertised...recall does not fall into "defective" categories).........
the ebay seller depending on who it is....may help you with the exchange.....each seller can have their own terms and condition though.......i checked a couple of listing....and most of them say that you have a 12 month manufacturing warranty.....(i think the key word is manufacture....which means its samsung).......so its more like if the seller is willing to help....but most likely you will have to deal with samsung yourself......
It will be a good move though... Considering many airlines are banning it on flight, hopefully this will encourage them to lift the ban...

i don't think they will go to that extreme.....and honestly....unless samsung release a statement about IMEI block...i will take it as a grain of salt.......remember......its only someone in reddit that is talking about it.......with no proof that except for what he wrote about the phone call.......but samsung france haven't release any statement to that fact.....
if you know where your phone was first purchased......then you can call the samsung number for that region and see what you can do......

Yes will do for sure. Well it seems like never-msrp isn't going to be of any help here as they keep giving me the same answers to my many different questions, so it seems like I'll be contacting Samsung Vietnam tomorrow to see what I can do.
P.S.
Never-msrp keeps telling me that Vietnam models are not affected, I wonder if it's true?

The Aussie supplied phones are made in Vietnam and are all being recalled.. Dunno if they are different to the Vietnamese market models though hardware wise.

Samsung is not blocking affected phones:

Who would have thought that a random reddit post was not true.
