help needed on SUPERNOVA rom - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

please help. i just flashed the supernova extreme rom/unlimited memory. iv got a 16gb sd card with a 4gb ext partition.iv installed loads of apps and everything works perfectly. but when i go on create a new message or even read a message it says "warning- unable to manage messages. your internal memory is low. and in the internal memory section it shows iv got over 3gb left. please help??

If you read carefully instructions on droidzone.in you will notice that ext4 partition shouldn't be bigger than 2gb when you flash Supernova for the first time. Repartition your sd card and flash it again.

First Ever HTC Phone

Hello guys,
I am very new to HTC phone and i managed to root my htc desire
using this guide nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-root-your-htc-desire
after root you can see in the picture i have App2sd enabled in pictures but my internal phone memory is still going lower. I have couple of gameloft games installed Ashphat 5, RealFootball, Gangster, heavy gunner and hawx and apps like astro, act1, documents to go.
I tried installing Darktremor A2SD version 2.7 but phone kept on restarting after htc logo so i rooted the phone again with nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-root-your-htc-desire guide.
My phone is on orange contract uk. I don't want to brick this phone.
please guide me to the right direction to install right rom with apps2sd+ or apps2sd so that every thing gets installed on sd card instead of phone memory. I have been reading this forum and Modaco forum for couple of days now. I can't get apps2sd to work properly so i can have loads of phone memory.
I have 16gb Sd card class 2 during apps2sd process i made Goldcard with sd card 4gb which came with the phone.
I don't want to brick my phone. what is the safe method?
Please guide me in right direction so i can enjoy desire more.
Sorry if i asked question which were asked before.
Thanks
I'm facing the exact same problem as yours. All the tests shows that app2sd and app2sd+ is working.
But, the internal memory still decreases. Till now, I have no idea how to solve this.
Apparently it's related to the /data/data/ folder still filling, I don't know much more past this point.
There must be another rom which has app2sd+ where application gets installed in to sd card.
I am not sure about if i should boot to some awesome roms posted here. Will try when someone who was in same situaution as me gives me thumb up to install new rom and apps2sd which works

As has been previously said, the application does get installed to the SD card. However, any "data" in /data/data is left in internal memory.
I have Copilot installed on my Desire. It takes up 18.50mb in total - 11.23mb for the application and 7.27mb for data. If I used Apps2SD, I should regain the 11.23mb, but the 7.27mb data is still in internal memory.
Regards,
Dave
I understand that some data gets installed on internal phone memory. I also read in these forum people are downloading google earth and co pilot big application and they still have over 100mb data left in internal memory. I haven't installed apps2sd+ i only have apps2sd normal when i followed this guide nimbu.amorvi.com/2010/05/how-to-root-your-htc-desire.
I wanted to know is there any other rom which has apps2sd+ which store majority data in sd but not internal rom.
Which rom do you think is better for newbie like me. Modaco customer R3 which has app2sd+ custom build or any other free rom in htc Desire Android Development thread?

[Q] App2SD+ on ReflexTSenseHD v1.5

Sorry wasnt sure if to put here or on the dev fourm.
i am having an issue with App2SD+, it could be im just being a noob and not understanding how it works.
i am running ReflexTSenseHD v1.5 ROM, which worksfine, no boot issues of any sort, so i am sure that i have installed it correctly.
i have a 16gb SD card, that i have taken 3GB and made a EXT3 partition. the rest of course is formatted in Fat32.
when i look in my internal Storage there is only 90MB there.
i tried fully formatting the card again, wipeing my phone and doing reinstall. but this only freed up 10 extra MB. so i now have a massive 100MB.
shouldnt this be saying something like 2.5GB ? if i install any more apps it will just take it off the 100MB. this doesnt seem like App2SD+ isnt working.
am i doing anything wrong??
No everything is fine. Time to learn the what A2SD+ really is and how it works.

i have now looked up and found this on the net which really helpped, posting here incase anyone else finds it useful

[Q] [SuperNOVA]How to move apps from ext4 to internal memory

I am just flash with SuperNOVA and i would like to move some apps to my internal memory to reduce lag.
The main one is the GO Launcher EX.
I really want to move it into my internal memory. If i have a terminal emulator, what should I type in to do so?
Using this ROM
http://supernova.droidzone.in/?page_id=24
Thanks
When using A2SD, you can't. If you are using DATA2SD apps are always on internal memory.

No.
data2sd is like a2sd, but instead of moving all the apps, it moves the entire data partition to SD so everything is on SD (although it shows as internal).
@ OP, cant be done.

Thanks a lot. I catch what you mean.
However, is it possible to temporarily change the installation location to Internal and restore to sd-ext after rebooting? I am just wonder that would happen
No because SD-EXT IS internal. "internal" means /data/app/ which is actually now /sd-ext/data/app (or however it is structured).
With data2sd:
Internal = /sd-ext/data/app
External = /sdcard/.android_secure (as it always has = )
Thanks. Now, I would like to know the whether there is a need to GPART my SD card for superNOVA?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Wait, DATA2SD moves both apps and data to SD card?
Yep, whole partition

Oh, but there is a solution if you need the app in nand though..create a folder in /system/data, then make a symlink in/data/app to it..

Oh really? Maybe you have a crappy card, and tried it on a crappy ROM. And don't tell me it's of a good class. That has nothing to do with it. To each his own..
If the speed of the card in random read write of small chunks of data is good, Data2sd should perform well. The basic criteria is that the speed of card should match nand. But making a very vague statement that Data2sd as such is laggy, is like a blind man holding the elephant's tail and saying the elephant's a small animal.

For me Supernova is one of the best ROMs out there, and despite occasional lag and hanging apps I haven't found anything that combines a fully working Sense ROM without Sense 3.0 crap that never works well, and so much space for apps.
One question though. All day it seems to work well, I have a class 10 Transcend card 8 GB. Lags usually occur when the phone is locked and I try to move out of the lockscreen, it seems like it never actually "wakes up" and everything is laggy, the lockscreen itself hangs and doesn't respond, and when I finally unlock it I get messages for HTC Sense hanging etc. This happened for example this morning when I got out of bed and tried to answer a call after leaving the phone on all night. (I missed the call btw, since the Telephone app was stuck as well and I could not answer it )
Any ideas?
Are you on 2.1 ROM. Flash the older ROM

No, I downloaded it yesterday so it was the 2.0.2.0 version. I also tried Gingerburst today with similar problems. Probably it's the SD card's fault after all
Probably. We have had limited success with class 10 cards..I'd try a class 6 transcend if I were you.

actually understanding Wildifire S possibilities

Kind of newbie question, but it is not. Some time ago I asked help here because the wildfire s internal memory is not that large (150mb) and S2E was not helping.
The problem-- Internal memory cannot deal with all the apps I do use. But, if i put all the /data on sd card, this would slow down android too much.
First try-- I tried "int2ext+" that leaves /data/data on internal for speed: at first it seemed to work, but in a while the same problems occurred.
Secondo try-- So I tried the other version, "int2ext", that transfers /data/data too, but... sleepy times for my phone.
Right now, I am confused. I wonder how do you people handle this problem... Apart from buying a new phone...
May someone helps me?
Ok...

Well instead of int2ext(which F***ed my rom) flash data2sd.zip after u made the partision in CWM recovery (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39695479#post39695479) Hope it helps
Good Luck
James
P.S: DONT FORGET TO CREATE THE PARTISION BEFORE FLASHING IT!!!
Thank you, James, I'll give a try with data2sd!
In the meantime, I'd like to understand what is occupying so much space in /data/data .
I believe All the Google Apps and other preinstalled apps that have to be fast (for example phone app, message app and so on)
I remember that MIUI HC 3.2, found on this website, was fast enough. Maybe, as tech grows, apps sets bigger data in /data/data. Anyway, I'm wondering how do you guys handle this problem. Therefore, I suppose I'm doing something wrong myself.
Anyway, this week I'm sadly free. So, I'll give a try.
Try upgrading your sd card to class 10, this will help solve your problem
Maybe is just your SD Card, I've int2ext installed (with cyanogen mod) and a class 6 card. It's a bit slow but I can use the phone with problems. Check your SD card, if there isn't any number printed on it probably you have a class2 o lower...
A good hint. My sd card is class 4, I'll try upgrading anyway. I'll let you know, guys.
Success!
I've bought a samsung SD card 8 giga and class 10. Wiped everything, partitioning, flashing rom with int2ext and... one day after, it seems it's really working: the phone is faster, more responsive.
Even thought, next time i'm buying such a mobile phone, i'll seriously care the internal memory to be larger than 2 giga.
Thank you all, guys!

Okay so Im deciding to sell my friend my HTC WFS, but I want to keep my 8GB memory and give him a 4GB, so I partitioned my 4GB SD to have a ext2 etc... So now I copied the ROM, CronMod-INT2EXT+_signed & SuperWipeMarvelcEdition zip files to the new SD card, but when I try installing everything NOTHING WORKS! The screen stays with the HTC white background logo and doesn't LOAD, ive even tried a diferent ROM but I still have the same problem. Please someone help me, because I supposed to give him my phone tomorrow...

Seriously?!?!? Posting the same question three times with different titles!?!?!?
With that out of the way,I can't read your mind..............explain everything, what model(GSM,CDMA or GSM 2012 edition),how you partitioned it(The current partitions),did you try without flashing the INT2EXT script..............this is just the beginning of the list required to diagnose your problem
Posting the same lines in 3 threads won't boost the process.......It will instead create confusion as well as trash in the fora
