I don't mean to suggest you haven't tried by this. But have you used a rom such as blackice, then using their tool change the gps location to your area, installed GPS test or an app like that and left in on a window sill for 10 or more minutes?
I always used to think GPS was awful on them, only getting a range of about 2 kilometres before changing the info on my phone.
If you're determined to get it back to stock, try the search button and do a little research from the general, question and dev forums. I answered a question about going back to stock not so long ago

Alright.
1. Stop posting new threads about this! You are not the only one who has ever had a problem like this.
2. Post the link to where you got the original ROM.
3. Give us a DETAILED overview of what you did. The more you leave out, the less anyone can help.
4. Relax, these things can typically be fixed.
I think i have the wrong radio and it wont let me upgrade

possible to return phone after rootiing?

Has anyone tried returning the phone after rooting it? How about after flashing a different ROM? Any differences before the 30 days and after as far as the same questions above go?
I'm curious before I decide to root my phone.
Thanks!
You can just run the stock RUU to go back to the shipped rom. Check the wiki if you need it.
damn this question has been asked alot
I'm more interested in if you can't flash it back to stock Ruu. For example if you have an issue and need to return it or send it in for warranty repair and switching back to stock isn't possible.

By rooting you have voided your warranty. So no, if you root and leave it rooted then your warranty is void. I just restored my rooted phone to factory so I can return it due to the screen separation issue.
if the unit powers on you can RUU, else you cant. if sprint/radioshack whomeever cant power the unit on and you've not opened it or water damaged it, then it should be fine to replace. they arent going to hunt you down, at least i dont think they will.
yeah my evo was in a boot loop while rooted, with damagecontrol 3.2 rom, and a new radio update and i got a new one, within the 30 days of course. but i learned my lesson and bought a security plan XD
everyones still within the 30 days
Last week I was in the BB I bought my phone from, trying to get a replacement for a few issues. When the rep walked away I took a peek at his monitor, as he was searching for any memos on the issues i had.
He had one email open that pertained to Rooted devices and how to test if the device was rooted or not, and instructions on NOT to accept any returns if the device was rooted considering it does void the warranty and changes the original item itself.
Just a heads up lol.
That's kinda dumb. Rooting is just software change it's not any change to the hardware itself, it should be fine to return.

But rooting can also brick your phone if you do it wrong.
Yes, but if you get it back to stock RUU then any such risk has been neutralized.

[Q] No recovery to stock ROM, possible issues?

So if I reset the phone with CM7 and didn't run a recovery to backup the stock ROM and bloatware, what potential issues could I come across? I don't plan on having to send the phone back to T-mobile (it has been holding together very well so far) and I will probably upgrade in about a year or so.
My question is, does it really matter? And if I had to send the phone in is there somewhere online I could grab the stock software to reset it?
(I searched using several different wordings and found info on other phones but not the Defy)

I have read that post several times, but my question should have been where do I get the stock SBF if I need to revert to stock to, let's say, sell the unit or send it in?

I successfully reverted back to US Stock 2.2.1 after flashing nordic/CEE etc. and installing CM7
by first flashing 2.1 and then upgrading using motorla update.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18325086#post18325086
Did this because there's no 3.4.2-107_JDN-9 sbf, only an leaded 2.2.1-3.4.2-107_JDN-4.

[Q] Help to figure out what state phone is in and return to stock

Ok, I've got an issue with my phone that I can't work out. It got sent off for them to fix a screen and somehow when it came back all my apps were gone and it's in a different state to how I left it.
Now I'm probably gonna come across as a massive noob, but I generally can understand what I'm doing however this unexpected change is throwing me off.
I know for a fact the bootloader is unlocked and my custom bootloader seems to have gone. I have no idea if I still have root.
It's an o2 HTC One X and I would like to return to stock and update from there. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Warranty/Repair Question

I've tried searching and couldn't find a definitive answer for my question... Anyway, my nexus 7's usb port has stopped working altogether after a few month's of being fidgety.
I'm bootloader unlocked and running cleanrom, but I am unable to return to stock firmware since I cannot connect to adb. So will this be a problem with Asus to get warranty work done? (even though this is most definitely a hardware problem and not related to unofficial rom's/root).
Any help or experiences with Asus warranty would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Really I would hope they would only call you on the warranty if the problem is linked to you rooting/flashing the device, but they may decide to try it anyway. You could try ADB over TCP.

adb isn't able to connect for some reason. It works with my moto x over tcp so I guess something's going on with the nexus. Oh well, I'm almost out of battery anyway, thanks for your help, I'll just try to warranty it and hope for the best.

It's really upto them. If you had bought your tab from the Play Store, You'd have a better chance of warranty, as Google just replaces the device.
But if the device is out of charge, they have no way of figuring out if it's rooted, as they cant charge it and power it on
