Bang bang racing ... Chainfire 3D? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bang bang racing looks visually impressive maybe too much for the xperia play to run?
From what ive read if youve rooted your phone installed chainfire 3d and then installed the nvidia tegra2 drivers the play can run SOME tegra 2 games?
I was just wondering if anyone who knows what there doing has got bang bang racing running on there xperia play before i spend the next few hours messing up my phone trying

I can't attest to how well the XPlay will run Bang Bang Racing, but Chainfire3D will definitely run Tegra games. Follow these instructions:
http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/08/25/how-to-install-and-use-chainfire3d-on-samsung-galaxy-s2/
They're for the Galaxy S2, but it's the same process. It works.

Nice one for that i will try and get chainfire up and running on my play. I thought the galaxy s2 had a tegra 2 chipset anyway what do u need chainfire for?
Bang bang racing anyone... Any luck?

Galaxy S2 does not have at tegra 2 chipset. It has a better gpu than the current tegra 2 chips.

The Mali-400 GPU in the GS2 is only better, as it's a newer generation of chip. Once Nvida release the Tega III in a couple of months, it will be pretty outdated

That's why I specifically said Tegra 2, not just Tegra

Best Game to show off the phone?

Normally i use quake3droid at max settings (2048x1024 (i probably got the res wrong) etc) or i use a 3d game such as Guerrilla bob. What do you normally use? What game really shows the power of this phone?
Modern combat is a good one. Lags a bit in the menus but the graphics are absolutely stunning

modern combat didnt work for me, HD versions anyway
Modern combat 2 I paid for it in the premium game hub...... awesome fps also Nova is another good one

any more? maybe graphics apps?
I presume the true power of the gpu will never be had, as from what I read drivers are poxy and have to use chainfire to sit in the middle to run stuff.
Do you think it will ever run true???
I dunno about using "the power of the phone" but Samurai Vengance II looks nice on the SGS2. Dungeon Defenders would be another good choice if it actually worked.
Angry Bots!!!
Try Angry Bots!!
its only a tech demo right now but it looooks super sweet

Samurai II : Vengeance
N.O.V.A. II
Dungeon Hunter 2
Basically any/most Gameloft games look great!
Zorro: Shadow of Vengeance looks good too.
How are you guys buying nova 2? I have tried the market, Chainfire 3d, and the Gameloft site. None show it available for sale. Am I using Chainfire wrong or something? Not really looking to pirate anything.

Riptide GP
As already stated Gameloft make some nice looking games. My personal faves are:
Galaxy on Fire 2 - Tegra 2 version using Chainfire (sad we need to use Chainfire)
Order & Chaos
Dungeon Defenders
A little off topic - It's pretty sad we so much fragmentation in the Android gaming space with developers signing deals with phone makers/chipsets. Thankfully, we have guys like Chainfire but I can see why Apple mobile gaming may be the future.

Gameloft released a version of Nova 2 which doesn't need Chainfire 3D.
Go to the gameloft site from your mobile - it should be there.

It's not showing on my market, is it region specific or something?
Also can I use it on my phone, not sure if I have tegra or not.
Thanks
edit: Well I don't have tegra in my phone, so can't play riptide, this is a joke. As if Android needs any more fragmentation.....
Managed to do some reading and installed chainfire 3d and the nvidia plugin.
Played riptide and samurai 2, while they are both very different graphical styles I'd have to say samurai looks better in my opinion.
Both lovely looking games though.
my small test is the best graphically looking on android: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1164111
Kidding
Well I'd say either riptide gp or dungeon defenders.
Nova 2 looks great as well.
Dead Space!!! Chainfire3D/Qualcomm plugin look awesome!!!

? Modern Combat 2 has been working for me for a while now. I'm on KM7 too. Although I did purchase mine from Gameloft.
Yeah modern combat 2 is officially released for the SGS2, available from gameloft or from Samsung game hub (only tried the demo but it worked fine).
dammit ._.

works great for me using chainfire3d with nvidia plugin
Are you running the most updated version of Modern Combat 2? I think they might have updated it once or twice to accommodate new firmware on the SGS2 or something.
You can get Modern Combat 2 HD from the Android Market, its one of the few HD titles Gameloft has ported to the Market, and it works with the SGSII (its where I got mine from, only shows in the Market for compatible devices).
mine is v3.3.0

This looks good. pinball Hd for terga also works very well on SGS2.
I like these kind of games. Definitly going to check it out, thanks!

yep, same here, and of course I noticed after the 15 minutes refund period, so I guess we'll have to wait and see if someone can find a fix...
Or maybe only Tegra 2 is powerful enough to display the shop
hehehe, i'm glad i'm not the only one.. sorry guys
So what could this be? anyone checked logcat?

Another TEGRA 3 enhanced game. Where's our love?

So Max Payne is out today and its Tegra 3 enhanced. I had a One X with the Tegra 3 version of Shadow Gun and it had some nice effects over the version I now run on the S3. Is anything going to be developed on Chainfire to allow us to play these advanced versions of these games on our Mali GPU?
My S3 runs ShadowGun, NOVA3, GTA3 and any other advanced game I throw at it no problems (better than my HOX in most cases).
Will there be any Mali enhanced games or do I just have to hope Chainfire pulls a little magic out the bag?
I hope something is cooking for this.

Not for Tegra 3 games at the moment.
I've been playing Max Payne on the S3 and it looks good enough. You can also adjust the screen resolution from inside the game.
Even if the Tegra 3 enhanced version had some better effects I doubt it would make that much difference to the game play. But I do hate it when they give all the good stuff to the Tegra versions.

Nvidia is paying developers to code especially for their Tegra chips. It really has nothing to do with actual power or capability...
I'd like to add that I think 3D games or any hardcore games are terrible on a phone IMHO. Also kills battery life like its no ones business. Give me a big screen and controller any day. Scramble and Words with Friends on the other hand...
Yeah, I get cramps in my hands while playing those games that you need to always keep your thumbs on.. But they are still fun to play around with... It's mostly awesome to just have max payne and gta 3 on my phone

Damn just finished reading the comments and its not running on max settings like it does on the Nexus 7.but on the N7 its not smooth as the N4 is.I think the N4 could run on max settings while still running this smooth.
Graphics
Anyone got any idea how to enable the max graphics? I don't even have the game yet, but I'm POSITIVE the Nexus 4 can handle full graphics at above 30 FPS. It's GPU is nearly 3x more powerful than the Tegra 3 one.
Can't wait till more people purchase it for multiplayer. I can't wait to pick up a controller and get it to work with this game. I haven't played it much, but so far its good.

Chainfire 3D is the only way as far as I know... unfortunately Gameloft is terrible at optimizing their games, the N7 runs at full effects even though it has a GPU less than half as powerful as the N4.

It's not compatible with 4.0 or Jelly Bean according to the description of the app.
I just tested Chainfire 3D (granted, on a different device, but that should not make a difference) and it did not enable the higher effects (as it didn't with MC3, either, and both are developed by Gameloft Montreal, I suppose this makes sense). So... there's no real way to enable the high graphics.
Gameloft disabled the effects for a reason... they don't know how to optimize their stuff for most GPUs, so with all effects enabled, I bet it lagged in their testing.
could you guys not just change the model in the build prop on the nexus 4 to that of nexus 7 ?
Does anyone know if the deviceconfig.xml trick works for MC4?
Anyone know if I should get the moga control or ps3 one? I already bought the six axis app a while back.. Any suggestions? Thanks
