Hello, I have a problem. Not a big one, but annoying none the less.
When I attempt to Join contacts, it forces close with the message:
"The application Contacts (process com.sonyericsson.android.socialphonebook) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Anyone elso suffered this or know what is causing it? Occasionally it does work, but perhaps only one time in twenty.
FYI, I am running rooted .42 with V6(though it did the same before this script was added). I also have tried clearing caches and stopping running programms.
Cheers.
Try to reflash your phone with same version.

Hmmm, was hoping to avoid that because of the hassle of sorting it out again and getting it just right. TBH, I would be tempted to live with unjoined contacts!!
Thanks though.

So, I am not really sure how long my phone has been doing this since I have not added a contact in some time, however now whenever I try to add a name to a contact (i can add a contact number...but not their name) i get "The application People (process com.android.htccontacts) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
Sooo I cannot update / add new contacts.
Running stock EVO, non-root. Anyone seen anything similar? I tried searching but was unable to locate anything similar
I've never run into this problem on a non-rooted phone.
As a workaround, you can try adding the contacts to your Google account, they should then sync with your phone automatically.
I've been doing a bit more google-digging, and have also been removing some random apps (cleaning house?) but I also seem to FC com.android.settings after *every* uninstall.
One suggestion I read blamed launcherpro so I have removed that, however it did not help (now I get to re-do all my widgets )
ah well...If I do manage to find something I'll post what I find for others...also I found a similar problem (I'm totally going to piggy back this guys thread here http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2375527 )
This same issue just started happening to me as well unrooted froyo evo and I'm not able to add a name to any new contact, already did a hard reset a week ago to fix other problems I don't want to have to do it again. If anyone has any info please share some because this is really upsetting
Solution to ----- process com.android.htc contacts has stopped unexpectedly.
I had the same problem on HTC HD2 Android 2.2. I solved as follows:
Source: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=6786a5dc2dab4183&hl=en
Go to Settings - accounts and sync
turn off auto sync and then remove your facebook account from the "manage accounts"
Go back into the "people" application and go to "online directories" (the little globe) then go to facebook. re-enter your details.
hopefully after resetting it all. the problem should go away.
the annoying thing is, you have to go back through and link all your contacts to their facebook accounts again.
I have done this and it all seems to be working.
i have tried searching for this issue and everyone seems to not know...
so i figured the guys and gals on xda have to know
so i keep getting this force close at random...doesnt seem to effect anything...just pops up ... i force close it..and thats it...
i would however, like to know what this is exactly and if i can remove it.. or remove whatever app (if any) is using it..
sorry if this is a repost..if so.. please provide link
thank you
Well i'm not too sure exactly, but you can either uninstall or freeze the app in titanium backup.
I had the same issue after I rooted but before I flashed a rom, while I was still running stock.
I think it has something to do with syncing account info.
I had frozen a couple apps & when I did this problem started happening. I think I froze twitter & a couple of other things. When I unfroze the problem went away. If you've frozen anything that would sync through htc sense then unfreeze it.
I have a Rooted Galaxy S-II. Aside from that it's basically stock. Just removed some of the bloatware.
Up until recently Skype was working just fine on my phone. As of (I think) the most recent update, whenever I start up Skype and try to log in, it gives me an error message to the likes of: "Skype has stopped working - Would you like to sign in again or exit Skype?" with the options to Exit or Sign In. If you pick "Sign In" it just sits there.
I've tried clearing data both through the phone and through Titanium Backup, and I've also tried deleting and reinstalling the app. Nothing is working.
I thought I read somewhere on the internet (not to say that that's a reliable or specific source to say the least) that with the newest update there's an inherent bug with Rooted phones and Skype not working. Don't know if that's accurate but it seems like it might be.
Anyone else seeing this? Have a fix? A workaround?
Thanks!
Happened to me too but I got signed in I just kept exiting and trying again it took about 5 times for me

Update? After reading your post I used Skype and worked fine. I'm on rooted phone using Darkside Evolution 3 V8.

Hi my friend owns a One X and his messaging app keeps force closing.
I found this fix on HTC's website, says it's for people. Hopefully this does something? https://support.htc.com/alerts_down..._all_devices_running_Android_4.1_(Jelly_Bean)
Hope it works as he is getting frustrated and is the sort of person who could be swayed to that Apple junk
...
You could try clearing cache/data of messaging app and then check if it works... If not, try a factory reset from bootloader if your friend's phone is fully stock!
Yeah, its fully stock. Hes done the caches and data, he won't be too happy. But thanks for the answer.
ERROR Message "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped."
I bought two nexus 7's (one for me and one for my GF) and mine is working flawlessly but hers is not. I am a long time Android user but she is a noob with it so it is possible that has something to do with it? Her tablet all of a sudden started giving the error "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped." and it pops up every 5 to 10 seconds then the tablet freezes and reboots. I was able to get to the settings menu and do a factory reset and now the error has stopped but her apps would not re-download after she added her google account again. Is there a quick fix for this? Unfortunately she is away and i was only able to provide support over the phone so that is another problem. I will have the tablet in my hands on Friday to troubleshoot more and Saturday is the last day i can return it to staples so i need to act fast. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

I had the same problem. Very troubling.
A senior android developer told me never allow google to automatically reload your apps. Consider this is a new model and new android version. Plus it is very early after release. The chances for many applications being broken/incompatible is great.
Since you were doing it for her using your account for setup you achieve the same result. This is a good thing, although more work.
My tablet continued infrequently (once a day) to crash the launcher, ultimately clearing the home screen of all personalization. The final problem I had was over 100 of these types of of errors which took three reboots to clear. And the problem was not fixed. So I did a factory reset, and did not allow google to automatically reload *my* apps. So, I logged into a browser on my google account and looked through the list of my android apps and installed some of them one-by-one. So far I have not had this same problem. So, I may add a few more until I find the application causing this problem. Although, it might not be an application, rather this problem could be part of Google app migration process (?). Who knows.
I am happy with my new Nexus 7 (2013) today because I no longer see this problem. Good luck.
I would try restoring to factory settings and see if that helps. I assume she's on stock ROM and kernel without root or an unlocked bootloader?

I had this issue in the past too. Clearing the cache of the affected Google app(s), and removing your Google account and re-adding the account did the trick for me.
Probably the best method to do if you have data on your tablet you do not want to lose. Hope this helps. :good:
Tablet is bone stock, 3 days old. After the factory wipe the message stopped but is this something that may come back? I feel like i might just return it to get a new one anyway. Does anyone disagree?
I agree with TheAltrusic. I was able to buy mine right on July 26 and had the same issue. Reverting to factory settings (like you did) and clearing the cache remedied my solution. This was happening to me whenever I used a Google app though, no others.
You could also try a soft reset, holding power key until the tablet reboots. And check to make sure you have the latest system update under settings. Hopefully its already updated itself automatically.
I hope it starts working for you
