Hi my friend owns a One X and his messaging app keeps force closing.
I found this fix on HTC's website, says it's for people. Hopefully this does something? https://support.htc.com/alerts_down..._all_devices_running_Android_4.1_(Jelly_Bean)
Hope it works as he is getting frustrated and is the sort of person who could be swayed to that Apple junk
...
You could try clearing cache/data of messaging app and then check if it works... If not, try a factory reset from bootloader if your friend's phone is fully stock!
Yeah, its fully stock. Hes done the caches and data, he won't be too happy. But thanks for the answer.

I can't get the damn stock android messenger to stop placing notifications on the taskbar. I've tried unchecking the notification box, force closing, reset to defualt and unchecking again.
I've using handcent. How get rid of the damn thing? I can disable the messenger with pm disable....messenger.. Would that fix the problem?
It was working fine then i did a factory reset and it all went to hell after that.

Going into the stock messager. Disabling notifications. Didn't work??

Nope, I unchecked it and i still get notifications. I'm debating on disabling the program cuz I've raed in other forums that its had to run for handsent to work.

Why don't you try another factory reset?

I wanted to again that but I guess I'll have to do it.

I had the problem too where I got two notifications even though I use the stock messaging app. If I click on the first it opens the message as normal, and if I clicked on the second one it would go to all the threads, but that notification stays in the status bar. It was driving me crazy, then I clicked the "clear notifications button". It kept on popping up afterwards and I kept on clearing it, but it doesn't happen anymore.
What did I do to make it stop? No fraking idea.
The factory reset worked. Even though I wanted to avoid going that route.
i have tried searching for this issue and everyone seems to not know...
so i figured the guys and gals on xda have to know
so i keep getting this force close at random...doesnt seem to effect anything...just pops up ... i force close it..and thats it...
i would however, like to know what this is exactly and if i can remove it.. or remove whatever app (if any) is using it..
sorry if this is a repost..if so.. please provide link
thank you
Well i'm not too sure exactly, but you can either uninstall or freeze the app in titanium backup.
I had the same issue after I rooted but before I flashed a rom, while I was still running stock.
I think it has something to do with syncing account info.
I had frozen a couple apps & when I did this problem started happening. I think I froze twitter & a couple of other things. When I unfroze the problem went away. If you've frozen anything that would sync through htc sense then unfreeze it.
So this has probably been posted somewhere and im probably breaking some moral codes of the forum... and yeah im my world is going to literally fall apart if my problem doesnt get solved and its THE MOST important post on the forum just like every other post.
but. Im running SyndicateRom frozen 1.1.0 and i started getting these google.framework yadda yadda force closes....those are not so much the problem but annoyances.
My problem is that i go to boot my phone this morning... notice theres no new texts...which i expected at least one. go to open the messaging and BAM forceclose. no options to wait. the menu only flashes saying fc and sends me back to homescreen. after a while a little 9 appears over the messaging. Idc if i have to reflash my whole phone....i just want those 9 messages how can i retrieve them?
or rather is there a place in the phone where the sms' are stored in which i can back up to a compy and view or in the phone after a reflash it?
im desperate with curiosity. i never get 9 messages and they may be important.
TL: DR Messaging FC. want messages i received before wiping.

Have you tried to go to settings -> applications -> manage and clear data for your SMS app?
Yeah... it was to no avail
Grab an SMS app like Handcent from the Market.
I have a feeling your /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db is jacked. See if u can open it. This is where all ur txts are stored.

i got as far as /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony and nothing shows up after that?
If you cleared the data/cache for the messaging app and it's still happening you're probably gonna have to re-flash. This happened to me once and that was my only fix. You can try backing up the messages in Titanium but if you're getting force closes I don't know if that'll help.
I am having the same issue as well. I am running syndicate rom frozen 1.1.0 with the vision kernal 1.1. A few days after The first time I flashed the rom and kernal I got the numerous force closes. So I wipe the device, cache and dalvik reflashed the rom and kernal but I only restored my apps with data using titanium backup and not the system data. Now I am just getting the force close with my messages.
i ran into this and was instructed by our wonderful mod to go advanced>fix permissions in cwm. worked beautifully, and i was just about to wipe everything
I did this...then everything died.
Once i booted back up EVERYTHING and its mother started FCing from launcher pro to keyboard to google framework to clocks....everything.
I had no choice but to reflash. Fingers crossed this round.

Sounds like bad data. I had this same exact thing happen to me. I was being a lazy ass and not shutting down properly before switching batteries. I reflashed SFR 1.1.0 and shut down properly now and have not had a problem since. Maybe a similar scenario is corrupting your data.

Thanks for this. My gf started to freak out when this started to happen to her was thinking flash was only way to fix. I ran fix permissions in cwm and now working again no reflash! Saved the day
Find and flash the journal on zip to decrease the chances you will get this again. It usually caused by an improper shutdown.including running the battery all the way down.

So I am hoping someone else has this issue so I know I am not going crazy:
My phone, a few times of day, the messaging app, stock/hand cent/SMS pop up/go SMS/ chomp, I have tried all of them and they all do the same thing. I will be in the middle of a text conversation with someone and all of the sudden all my texts will disappear and all of my conversations will disappear. I cannot send a message or receive one and everything in the messaging app is blank.
I have tried wiping data and cache on the messaging app and hasn't worked. Tried a soft reset and hard reset and doesn't work. Took phone to sprint and they couldn't recreate issue. Ordered me a refurb phone and it is doing same thing.
Tried not restoring my Google account info and starting from scratch and it still does it. Only thing that makes the messages come back is a reboot of the phone and voila the messages are all back like nothing happened.
Please someone tell me how to fix this!

That's a weird bug. Haven't heard of or experienced anything like that. Good luck in your search for a resolution.
I'm not sure if this is from the last update or not but I cant send a text message using the watch. It comes up, says it sending, then it says "message sent" but when I look on my phone, I don't see massage that was sent. I'm using Google hangout out app for text.
I have reset the watch and still no luck.
Thoughts?
I think this is happening for me as well. I'm on att with nexus 5.
Hummm....Maybe it after this last update?
Yeah it definitely was after the last update.
Are you using google hangout?
Yes I'm.
Its weird, it freezes my phone when I send a text. I have hit the "home" button to unfreeze it. Does this happen to you? I tried to uninstall the update but it didnt help. I even tried a different launcher instead of NOVA and still happens.
i think my next step it rest the phone, but that is such a pain!
anyone else having these issues?
Me too here. Definitely after the update. It doesn't let me reply by voice. It sucks!

Moto 360 and S3, Me Too...
I have just spent the most frustrating 2 days trying to get my wife's Moto 360 to send text messages.....it wont. All I get is to be told to use the phone... which loses the point of getting her the watch in the first place. It will send e-mails, but wont reply to them, it recieves texts and emails OK... and everything else works fine... I've tried everything I could think of, uninstalling, reinstalling, wiping phone cache etc, tried Hangouts, but nothing seems to work. I'm left thinking that maybe it could be the S3 operating system that is somehow blocking this? ...or maybe the standard messaging app on the Galaxy? if that's the case, is there an alternative ......that works properly! ? or could it be the mobile provider (it's 3).....or is this a UK thing?
And finally....HELP, HELP !!!!
mine works even after latest update... reply whatsapp.. but currently im looking for some kind of keyboard.. any suggestion?
