Going to have to wait for a kernel that becomes available that includes tun.ko support. None of them do yet.

I rooted my phone and since I'm like everyone else and don't want to pay 30 a month for wifi tethering, I downloaded 2 apps that do that: Barnacle's and the other wifi tethering app. Neither of them work, anyone have any ideas how to get this accomplished? I figured that since we have root now and there are netfilters in the kernel that we shouldn't have a problem.
I can't get Wifi Tethering for Root Users to work either

Try different versoins of wifi tether. I know on the hero side 1.6 was the only one that worked
to clarify, this is with android 2.1 using the userdebug RUU, not stock 2.1 or froyo 2.2, right?
now that you have ADB access, when you open one of the apk files to test it, can you monitor logcat and paste the results/errors it throws back here for us.
those of us w/o an EVO yet, less than 24 hrs, can try our best to help troubleshoot and give recommendations. hopefully it won't be too difficult!

just throwing out ideas to help speed up the process, not sure how much detail will help them?
might want to include version number of the userdebug rooted RUU we're using and/or radio version?
Joey, give me a few minutes to figure this out and then I'll post the logcat.

When I said that Wireless Tether for Root Users didn't work for me, I was on the Froyo custom ROM with root.

It shouldn't be working on the rooted stock 2.1 either. If you get it working, please let us know how you did it!

as far as I have read, when you test this in normal android mode you need root access.
you'll have root access in normal android mode if you flash flipz's STOCK ROM with root from the custom recovery.
wait does it work for the Stock Rooted Evo Rom posted in the forum? just the standard sense ui rom with superuser ?

Anybody else having problems getting this to boot? Going to try and redownload and see if that's the issue (although, it goes through the install process with TWRP just fine).
Edit. Just noticed the "ChromeFix". Checking to see if that could be the issue.
Update. Chromefix was not the answer to my problem. Get systemUI and com.android.phone FC's and can't do anything. On to try the freshly downloaded copy.
Update 2: Redownloaded via PC, transferred to SD card via PC/card reader, attempted to install, still a no go. Same results. Anybody know if this is actually flashing a kernel? Wondering if it's due to the adama kernel I had installed.

There's a TWRP released for the GSIII. Aroma worked fine with it for me for installing. . . just gotta get it to boot now.
Why does the phone have AT&T?
Why does the description say "Removed All ATT references"?
Wrong thread?

Pretty sure I got it from RootzWiki. That said, I think I saw a post where we weren't supposed to link to them? Go to RW and look in their GSIII area though. You'll find it.
Hi there.
Okay im looking for a working/stable ICS rom/kernel for my Xperia Pro that has working VPN. Eg. Tun.ko
I am trying to use Onavo Extend on my Pro but it says no VPN support.
I have tried to get the tun.ko through tun.ko installer, but I have had no luck with this. It creates the tun file but it has nothing in it. I have also tried Open Vpn but that creates its own VPN files.
Sony really failed with ICS
So any help will be greatly appreciated :fingers-crossed:
Does no one know? lol I really don't feel like going back to gb: (

they didnt fail, its just not as stable as GB, thats why they've made custom ROMS on ICS

Lol i have tried 2 kernels and 2 roms now. Acronium with the Ultima Kernel and CM9 with the CM9 Kernel and neither of them have the VPN support.
The acronium with Ultima was supposedly suposed to have the TUN drivers included but it unfortunately doesnt work.
I dont know which other to try so I just need a lil bit of help Please
Im willing to use tun.ko in my glide device but i dont know if theres a kernel that works with it, if someone know something about it, that would be great

I spent a lot of time trying to compile it myself only to discover that tun.ko is not needed! It is compiled into stock ICS AT&T kernel. Just install OpenVPN app and it will work out of the box.

HI!
Now when it comes to features , the "flo" model is way better than nexus 7 (2012) BUT i saw that the previous model had the reaver and aircrack because of the bcm chipset inside .. are there any other similar apps in FLO except the pwn pad installation method....
When you say except the "pwn pad installation" you mean this method? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577356.
If so, too bad, it's pretty damn cool.

Whether it is or not isn't the issue, the issue is getting the built-in wifi to go into monitor mode. There are claims that it has been done (assumign the hardward even supports monitor mode, one would have to use a kernel with a custom driver built in, or a kernel with loadable mod support which would load a custom module), you'll have to drudge through google and figure out if that has any merit or not, then work out how to implement it, if it's even viable.

i think it has been done .. after all the pwn pad method also uses elementax kernel .. the only thing which is stopping me is to buy tp-link adapter , which is out of stock for weeks in my country(india)...assuming flo has that hardware , isnt the built in chipset enough?

The same way you install anything else on android, download the apk and install it, it does not matter if you have a supported adapter or not...it just won't be able to open a wlan in monitor mode.
