Me thinks you would have a tough time unrooting with no processor

this would be a hard process... never thought bout that lol good call!

BBlunts456,
Do you have a TEP plan on the phone? If so, Sprint will replace it for free if the problem is electrical and not due to user error/abuse (like a physically damaged connector). I had this exact problem this past week. They will only accept it if you have stock firmware I was told though.
Anyway, I'm assuming you have clockworkmod and can still flash .zip files from your SD card.
Check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027904
If you flash the link ReRFS Format Stock ROM EC05 v1.01 you will end up with a stock kernel, stock RFS filesystem, and stock unrooted EC05. You will retain CWM recovery though, so you can always flash a new custom rom. However, if you want to go back to 100% stock, like I needed to, you can flash the file above and then epic4g.stock.recovery.ec05.zip. This will bring your phone back to a state where sprint will accept it. Wiping out the CWM and flashing the stock recovery makes rooting it again a very difficult prospect, as your USB doesn't work, so that's a one way street. I went to a Sprint repair store and am getting a replacement phone for free under the TEP due to the USB hardware not working electrically. But, they told me they would only take it with stock firmware, so I needed to follow the procedure I outlined above. Hope that helps.

Theres a thread about how to return your phone to stock with odin, also check the wiki. Your best bet is to flash through odin to di18, our dg27, either works...

This Tread may be your savior...Good luck

Oh also you might need to change the the file name to update in order to flash it in the stock recovery.
I did this when I first went to FROYO ( forgot who's post I got it from) If you have the factory ROM just rename name it... update.zip and try that, it worth a shot

i gave him that link earlier

Easy fix man, break a battery pin off so the phone doesn't power on, and take it back saying it just died. They won't be able to boot it to check the rom at that time and should in store replace it with a refurb. I have done this once, when they didn't want to replace mine for screen wobble.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
You could also intentionally flash a file that shouldn't have be flashed, to stick the phone at the boot logo.
Without being able to boot, they cannot reveal what rom is 'running'
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Just get a 12-24VAC power brick, like one used on a sprinkler timer. Drag the 2 bare leads from the output around the contacts on the back of the phone for battery, sdcard, antennas, etc... It'll roast the **** out of everything inside of the phone. They'll never know what ROM was on it after that.

How to go back to stock?

Yes I have seen guides but none that applied to me. I used the method drockstar posted using ginger break and his clean kernal and I didn't need a pc to root. I have to turn my phone back Into my company for some software updates so need to go back to stock. I can't not loose som of our software that's currently on here. I do not have access to a pc either so I need to do it all on my phone. Any one have a link to how to do this? Thanks

If you are on a Gingerbread leak and also changed your modem, you will have to Odin in the EC05 modem, flash ReRFS ROM and flash stock recovery. You are always taking a risk of losing all your data this way. If it is a company phone you shouldn't root it. Go into Development and search for ReRFS ROM.

I am on
Firmware 2.2.1
basband d700.0.5s.EC05

I just used the Gingerbreak to root and then added he DRockstar kernel
Thanks
is it possible just to flash a stock kernel and then do the ota update and then turn my phone into them for their updates?
even better I will have access to a PC tonight and I have a cord so I could use odin etc.. what will I be able to do and not loose info on phone. thanks guys. I been reading post after post. how do you guys sort though all this info and make any sense of it.lol
Sorry to say it but if you use odin I really don't know if there is any way to save the data. If I'm wrong someone please correct me. I know how you feel as I to had to turn my phone in and lost everything including company software (didn't get into any trouble since the boss had me root his phone and he also lost all the data lol). Hope somebody can help you out more.

[Q] Is there a way to unroot without ODIN?

My phone isn't working properly, and I plan on exchanging it for another E4GT at the Sprint store. I suspect it to be a hardware issue because I've done a few factory resets, and it still isn't working. The problem is that it is constantly freezing, and my pc doesn't detect the phone when I plug it in. It charges, but it won't get recognized as an external device, even in cwm and download mode. I'm not quite sure what to do.
Is there a way to go completely stock, and unroot without the use of ODIN?
How about mobile Odin from the market? No PC required.

What are you on right now what did you flash with Odin lost kernal? If you were on sfhubs root you dont need Odin just use the option B I think unroots but only if you rooted with it? how did you root?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
If you used the Auto Root package, only the root needed to be done while connected to the computer.
Undoing CWM and unrooting can be done on the phone itself. Instructions are in the 2nd post. Look for the "included scripts" section.
I had a very similar problem with my epic touch. What I did was use mobile Odin to flash stock unrooted eko2.tar on my phone. Qbking77 has a YouTube video on this titled, UNROOT EPIC 4g touch latest. Then I took my phone to a sprint store and they replaced it for free. I suspected it to be a USB port problem. Good luck!
What happens if you did the first root that came out?

I'm not able to flash the .pit file using mobile odin, is that an issue?
Doing a system update should bring it hack to stock...theyre use to be some zips for that when this phone first came out....I believe I have the files needed to restock fork cwm somewhere...

no the pit shouldn't matter in your case. I only use it when I want to absolutely make sure all of my other roms I have flash have nothing left over. just remember after you have all your stuff off it, format your internal sd card. you can do this by first removing your external sd card( the one next to the battery). I just say remove it so there's no confusion. then in setting you can go to storage and format the usb. that way there isn't any personal data on your phone.
hey go to this website refer to steps 7-10 this tell you how to remove root, specifically super user, via adb and the command prompt

Help a stranger out!

I'm not new to flashing ROMs on my Evo, however your forums here are a little more cryptic. My son rooted his phone and flashed CWM and a Cyan Rom. He would like to return to rooted stock. Can someone point me in the direction of the latest OTA Stock Rooted Rom for the Samsung Galaxy S Epic II 4G? He apparantlly followed some video tutorial yada yad yada. I realize ROMs are probably flashed thru the recovery console, is flashing similar to flashing on an Evo from that point? (Boot to recovery -> work your way to Flash from Zip ...)
Thanks in advance.

Here you go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433101
Instructions are on that page, just make sure you use the full restore, and not the preserve data or you can brick. At the current point we don't have a kernel built from source yet, because of this, you must flash back to stock rooted EL29 via ODIN OC or you will brick. I highly suggest you read my thread in my signature because flashing anything ICS for this phone can be extremely dangerous and will brick your phone if you aren't sure what your doing.
Just to be sure you are looking at the right thread, please go to settings>about phone. Make sure model number is SPH-D710. I only say this cause I haven't heard of a Cyan ROM, and (not trying to be a jerk), most people refer to this phone as the epic 4g touch. You got something weird up there, and there are at least 20 different versions of this phone (galaxy s2).

Yes, that is what I meant by Cyan.
Thanks for the links and tips guys, I will check it out tonight.
Short version is this is the Galaxy 2 from Sprint, the one with the long bastardized name. Took forever to find this forum cause I was looking for something closer in name.
Yes it is the bastardized sprint Samsung galaxy s2. Word to the wise stay on this forum. Any other galaxy s2 forum especially international will have a huge possibility of turning the phone into a nice little paper weight. I have to say thanks for taking the time to find out. We have had a bunch of people come through here with paper weights wondering what happened because they didn't bother to read

Is there a flashable zip or whatever you guys use on the Epic somewhere that I can just copy to the sd card vs going thru ADB etc as in the link from above? The phone is already rooted, I don't want to lose root, just load a stock rooted rom on the phone.
Thanks.

Just read the entire OP twice. It's really simple. It will return you back to stock rooted gingerbread EL29
Edit: just realized its the same link. This is not adb. It's an odin one click package. Basically download the file and press a button and you're done

I would follow the posted thread as.. a.) It is the safest way since lots of people have been bricking their phone via flashes b.) This will return the phone to the stock ROM, but it will remain rooted.
Thanks guys(gals?) I'll be trying this tomorrow!

Ok, reporting back.
First we tried the 'don't overwrite data' option, everything appeared to be ok until the phone rebooted. It sat on the 4G splash screen in a continual restarting state for about ten minutes. We tried flashing that twice. After that we tried flashing the factory restore with root option, that worked just fine.
Thanks again for the input.
Now he'll have to restore all of his desired apps, but that's his problem, since I told him not to root in the first place. LOL.
Cheers.

How do I find out if I have the original kernel from my carrier?

I bought a phone from Craigslist and it is in great condition, very happy with it.
But the seller told me all I had to do was flash any ROM and I would be set.
Of course, wiping the dalvik and cache files, first, etc...
But one thing I remember reading was, before flashing a new ROM I should Odin the phone to stock settings.
How do I go about finding out if the kernel that's on the phone now is proper?
Or do I just get the kernel files and Odin them back on my own?
(never Odin'd before)
Thanks in advance.
Best bet is to Odin back to stock ics and reroot and install cmw file. That way u can be fully sure of what u have. Starting always from scratch is best way to do things

So being this phone is from Telus (Canadian carrier), would anyone here be able to tell me if this would be the proper ICS/ROM for the phone?
http://devsrom4android.blogspot.ca/2012/06/telus-canada-samsung-galaxy-s2-ics.html
I'm 99.9% confident it is, but better to ask than screw something up.
Agreed
