Good day XDA,
Woke up today to a phone that was having sim card issues. i restarted the phone and it kept having the same issues. I reseated the sim card and still the same issue. And then it turns from a simple SIM card issue to a whole system issue. I restart the phone and the HTC screen will load and then the phone turns off. I can only load into bootloader and cannot access recovery.
I attempted to flash recovery manually via fastboot but get an error about it not being allowed.
I suspect this is because I do not have an engineering hboot. What should i do next? Any tips?
my hboot currently is as follows.

First off, I don't think the SIM card can cause this problem so that's not really the issue with not being able to boot. You might be able to run 'adb reboot recovery' without the engineering hboot but if not, follow the guide in the wiki to flash the engineering hboot and try pushing recovery again that way.

You mean "fastboot devices", right?
Yea so i figured that its impossible to run adb from bootloader as its pre-android. you can only do fastboot.
I pulled the sdcard out of the phone and it loads the recovery but then it shuts down almost immediatly.
is there any way to somehow go to stock with my current bootloader
so i can begin root process all again.

Hello everybody,
I just rooted a desire with slcd with one click i put in amonra recovery. Everything went fine. Till i want to go in recovery. I get a black screen but i'm sure there is the recovery. When i do some things with the trackball and i went back en move a couple a times up and press the trackball the foon reboots but then it is stuck and i think it is because of a bad ROM install.
What to do? My uncle will kill me.
How do i get the recovery to see?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
youve rooted it and put on a recovery for pre-slcd device.
theres a fix somewhere deep in here. can you boot into the os and see the screen or is that blank aswell?
also this should be in a different section
I can not boot into the ROM and i just did the unrekoved

unrevoked 3.21? or an earlier version?
try booting and leaving it for a bit. if all is well and its just a dead screen then it will be booted, you just cant see as the screen is dead, check device manager in windows and see if it shows adroid device (adb or my htc) in the list
run unrevoked 3.21 again and let it flash clockworkmod and not amonRA
Can u see the device ok adb??

If you are able to get into bootloader unroot the phone and it will be solved. The best and easy way is via bootloader, just download a stock froyo zip put it into the root of your sd card and go into bootloader, no need of getting into recovery

you can only run fastboot img for recovery when you have s-off.
please boot normally and leave it for 5 mins to make sure its loaded( you wont be able to tell cos of black screen)

Lets slow down before you try flashing or wiping anything so you don't do more damage. You said that you rooted your phone 2-3 months ago. Which method did you use to root your phone?
Also are you able to get into recovery using steps 1-4 in joefrog1996's post?

You just need to flash a new recovery again via fastboot. Do you have adb installed on your computer. You should still have it since you ran revolutionary. After flashing a new recovery just flash a new ROM.
Your CWM recovery needs to be in the same folder as fastboot.exe
open cmd as administrator
Code:
adb remount
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery recovery***.img
Then you can flash a new rom
i'm not to sure how to do that.
First of all, i need to know if you have adb installed. yes or no. We can't proceed without it.

unzip the attached file to your root drive C:\

That's what I would have asked, too.
Look here for files (search, where it says "6: Custom Recoveries"). I've always done it by following method: "3) Via PC49IMG.zip Process (Needs S-OFF) - Download anyone of the PC49IMG ZIP file of the recovery you wish to install, place on your SDcard, and reboot into HBoot Mode ..."

right. But as a hint: if you do it with method 3) and you want to go into recovery with Fastboot after flashing a new one - you have to get the PC49IMG.zip out of the SDCARD's root first (e.g. connect to USB or put the card into a card reader to remove it)
I flashed the shipped ROM and I am glad that it didn't remove S-OFF. After that I rooted my device using SuperOneClick. Thinking of staying with this ROM for a while before reflashing ClockWorkMod. Thanks a lot guys for your help.
The kicker is, i lost root on my phone... no Recovery.. i can get into HBoot...
My phone is always stuck on reboot loop.. theres a few odd times where it makes it into OS but then reboots again.
So I was going to my old files and noticed that I still have my Nandroid backup, so if i put this back onto my phone, will it be saved?
I cant even get it too root without the phone rebooting..
What root method did you use? What hboot do you have? Are you still s-off? What were you running prior to this happening like rom ect ? Have you tried a RUU yet? This type of information can help people try to figure out how to fix it

Since revolutionary only requires the phone to be in fastboot to s-off it. Plug your phone into your computer install the required drivers and run revolutionary program it should read your device and precede from there by typing your beta key from the website and installing a recovery from the revolutionary program. Can you access your sdcard? Because if you can download a recovery and rename it PC36100.ZIP and put it on the root of your sdcard. When you go to your bootloader just go into the menu with the recovery option (Cant remeber atm) and it should come up asking you if you want to update the file. Not sure what to do here...
I rooted this G2 earlier this evening and decided I wanted Cyanogenmod 7 as the rom.
I flashed Clockworkmod and installed the rom and then gapps directly after without rebooting, I'm not sure if that screwed it up. Anyway, now I'm in a boot loop.
I held volume down and power and can get in to that screen but it won't seem to let me select fastboot. I just noticed earlier when I plug it in with the power off it will open up Clockworkmod Recovery but after a few seconds the screen goes dark and whatever process began, stops.
When I do open it up with volume down + power it automatically starts up hboot after a few seconds and examines the froyo rom (PC10IMG) I still have on my SD card (at least I assume that's the one it's looking at) and it says the "main version is older / Update fail"
Also on the recovery screen (volume down + Power) it previous said s-off and now it's back to s-on. I think I can get access to adb btw.
I looked through the threads but I couldn't seem to find a definitive answer so I apologize in advance if I didn't scour them as well as I should have. Thanks for any help you can offer!

I used the adb method. I downgraded from GB to Froyo and then used the adb commands here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834228) to perm root. I had a stable root after that was all said and done it just went in to the boot loop after I installed Cyanogenmod and the Gapps.
After the boot loop began it DID re-run the pc10img.zip Or well, I should say, I, re-ran it
I downloaded the RUU but I didn't attempt it because I figured I've already gotten myself in enough trouble as it is.

Oh yeah, here's exactly what the bootloader screen says.
It fires up and gives the normal options although it won't scroll down to any of them besides Hboot and it auto selects Hboot.

I removed the pc10img.zip from the SD card and NOW the bootloader allows me to actually make selections. I chose recovery and it went right in to Clockworkmod.
I tried to reflash Cyanogenmod 7 and it seemed to work but it is still in the boot loop. I think the reason it didn't go through correctly was because my phone is now s-on? when I originally rooted it and attempted to flash it, it was s-off. I am beginning to understand the scope of the problem here.
Would it be possible to download a t-mobile stock recovery rom image and flash that with clockworkmod? never tried that before.
Or, should I use the RUU, hope it works and start from scratch?
Or some other option that's beyond me.
Thanks for your help! This isn't my main phone and I was merely rooting it as a backup/experimental phone. I'd rather not have a paper weight but we shall see I guess. Thanks again!
I rooted my other G2 with the described method and it worked like a charm but for future reference is there any safer method available?
