Question: Telus 4G Icon Gone - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I saw a few people posting this buried within various threads with no answers so I thought I would post to see if anyone can answer this one..
Before flashing I had a 4G icon for the data icon in the top bar. Since rooting and flashing a custom ROM this has reflected a 3G icon. I figured this was the ROM I was using "Eagles Blood" but found numerous other Telus users in other forum's mentioning the same thing...
Does anyone have any suggestions on changing this back to a 4G icon.
It honestly makes no difference to how the phone works. I'm still getting incredible speeds but thought I would ask as I wouldn't mind changing it back.

Since flashing FroYo no longer get HSDPA, only get 3G

As title suggests. Using the recent one released on here with HTC Sense v1.0c.
Used to only get HSDPA with stock firmware.
Thought I saw a thread on here discussing it but I couldn't find it.
Can anyone help please?
use search button or simply search the development section theres many fixes for this
You are getting HSDPA, it's just the icon not being displayed - as said there are fixes for it
As I said I did try searching but couldn't find anything.
I'll have another look.
Appreciate the reply.
I can't find the fix either!

who would of thought people still don't know about this
it's native in froyo roms that there is no H icon, speed tests will show you are using HSDPA, it even says in your phone settings...
just download a custom notification bar/theme such as blackbar for defrost.
I know its not in the stock roms and its never really bothered me. I don't want a custom theme I just want the H icon to add to my current rom. But don't know if there is more to it than just dropping the icon into a certain folder through recovery.
There is more to it. It is about editing the framework-res.apk fil on the system partition. And as it just uses the 3g icon you will probarbly also have to edit some xml files. Just about the same as done with the battery mod
I'm sure there are a simple 'update' to get the H icon. Going through the many pages for each ROMS, it comes up quite a few times.

Not everyone is glued to this forum following every little Android thing. Rooting and using ROMs is very new to me. I only started 4 days ago. But thanks for being "accommodating".
I did a search and nevertheless the answers appeared. I then did the keypad trick with *#*#4636#*#* and noticed my phone IS on HSDPA, just not displaying a H.
I'm very content with that so problem solved.
Thank you to everyone that replied.

Wow, to be so demeaning to someone and then thank them for giving them the answer. Nice.

OK I read that back and probably came across as a c***.
I run a forum and one of my pet peeves is dismissive veteran members when they interact with noobs. Your tone suggested I should know it all. My tone suggested I'm a penis.
I did find the answer before reading your post. I apologise for the dickishness.

HSDPA icon is included by default AFAIK, the framework just needs to be built with it enabled.

[REQ] step's to change a Notification bar quick toggle

I would like some insight on how I would go about changing one of the button's on the pulldown bar. I wanna change the Bluetooth to a 3G toggle.
Me too, I wanna change 4g to brightness

Note that I'm asking for general steps. Doesn't have to be exactly for my peronal use.
*mystery where are you?!*

Mystery or one of the other devs already explained that it is just too much work to modify it. Wait for Cyanogenmod if you want the feature badly.
Well,
Think it's better to bump this thread rather than writing a new one...
I'm looking for the same thing and many Samsung users seem to have the same questions. In my country I have no WiMAX, so I want to change the button so it toggles data completely.
If someone had at least a clue where this is configured, I would be glad to take a look into my rooted Epic and see if I can do it at least manually, would be the first step.
Really? Cause Maddoggin is working on it and apparently has it just about finished for his gingerbread mod. A lot of work? Maybe. Too much work? Guess that depends how much you want it.

It's suppose to be almost the same work as porting the puzzle lock.If anyone can we know Maddaggin will and could.
Well,
As far as I had checked the posts, I had no clue of someone doing it already. I see two parts that can be time consuming: finding what to change and getting proper icons so it looks seamless.
I will be checking out more often to see if there's a solution. I just don't need the 4G toggle at all, so it's much better if I can replace it with something else...

[Q] 4.03 Notification Dropdown grey background?

Anyone notice something off with the backgrounds with certain apps in the notification dropdown on 4.03?
Specifically for me...
Widgetsoid
Wave Launcher
Tasker
Bumpin away.........
4.03 radio caused me some issues.
I could connect to google servers thru wifi but not 3G so my icons always stayed grey in 3G
Went back to 4.02 and instantly connected to google servers on wifi and 3G
just bumping OP... grey widgetsoid is totally cramping my otherwise slick GN's style

Cool glad its not just me. As for a solution I haven't been able to find one... I don't want to use MoreQuicklyPanel because you can't customize it =/
Was this fixed for any 4.03 ROMs yet? Can anyone please answer?
No solution, yet. Same on 4.0.2, actually.
-bZj
All my backgrounds are black and fine on a bunch of 4.02 roms... this is something effecting the framework in 4.03.
Bump for importance....
Reality is it isnt likely to get fixed any time soon and until Verizon releases a OTA radio upgrade/patch like they recently did with the Bionic as it too was having the same issues.
You do know bumping is against forums rules don't you?
By the fact only a couple of you are commenting would lead me to think it's not an issue at all...
Bumping is a joke in itself. Just from the last few comments in the last few minutes, we all all guilty of bumping the thread.

[Q] Both Reception Bars and Wifi signal icons are in white instead of green

Hi,
This week, I rooted my G2 for the first time and then installed "EliteMod 120316 + EliteKernel 120319" with many help from this forum (thanks!). I also updated the radio. It seems everything is working fine. But, I noticed that the color of the signal strength icons are always white instead of green even if it's connected to my Google account (gmails are pushed to my G2 and I can listen my Google Music without any problems). I read many threads in various forums, but I was not able to find the answer.
Anyone know why it never be displayed in green even if it's connected to Google?
Thanks!
Theaming, this is no longer the same as the stock rom, many custom roms will have at least some theaming and most will vary from your stock ui
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Thank you very much for the reply. I changed to other themes, but the color has not been changed to green unfortunately. The particular ROM's page under the Development forum shows screen captures and they show the icons in green. Please let me ask in the particular ROM's thread.
Thanks again.

[Q] Signal bars missing after new ROM

Hello..
I was going to ask this in the developers forum but apparently since I'm a n00b to the forums I'm not allowed to post yet. I flashed my M919 with the kitkat Insane ROM (v5 then v6), then flashed the NB4 modem with ODIN, no issues along the way..
The ROM is working very well, but I no longer have signal strength bars-- if I have coverage I get a 4G (or whatever) with up/down arrows showing traffic, but no bars. Calls/data/etc all work fine. Turned off WIFI and tried different power indicators in settings to see if it'd bring me my bars back.
Just wondering if this is normal and I should live without it?
thanks much
That's a known issue with that rom. Most people have success with adding them by installing xposed framework and then using wanam or xblast to get them back.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
Thank you that did the trick. I installed xposed and then fished aroubd in wanam xposed and xblast. Had to tell wanam to show 6 bars vice the default 5 and then it came back. Odd.
Thanks again!

I'm not trying to be an asshole here but the forum rules clearly state to read the forums before you post. There is a reason for that, your problem has probably been discussed millions of times and there is a provided solution for the problem. The OP clearly states why the signal bars are lost when flashing this rom. If you would have read further into the thread for the rom, there are numerous posts about it telling you how to fix it. I am glad that your problem is fixed and you found a workaround solution to it. Next time read before you post as it states in the forum rules that your question may have already been discussed.
