[Q[LiveView - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking of picking up a liveview soon but I've been researching and seeing that there are some connection problems. A lot of the reviews are from 2010 though so I'm wondering if these have been fixed.

i got one but i have never used . there is connectivity issue. i sometime manage to connect it with my play some time it just disconnect so i no longer bother to use it.

I heard that Sony Ericsson has update the firmware of liveview which improves the connectivity of it. However I didn't have that, so it might not true.
One of the reason I didn't go for it is because its battery life is just 4 days for standby. Means that I can't treat it as a watch...

no after update there is still same issue

Did you happen to find a better accessory?

Don't get it. Horrible battery life and it refuses to stay connected

It disconnects because of Android, the OS just kills the Connection due to ressources. So you need something like a taskmanager which controls the app.
But i still like it, often it just needs 1 sec. to connect again.
pros:
- control your music player
- you can read sms, email, rss, ...
- calendar
- ohh and of course you can see the time , even then the phone is disconnected
cons:
- battery lasts only about 1 day
- disconnects immediately if the phone is about 1 meter away
- less development, even then it has great potencial
if you still have questions just ask, in my opinion it's a great device, i don't like watches, but this one has much more to offer then a normal watch, also its quite cheap (in EU)... give it a try, buy it from amazon and if you don't like it, just send it back
sorry for my bad language

Yes LiveView IS a great device, but the connectivity issue will make you mad.
It disconnects because of Android (the OS would kill the LiveView app aperiodically), but the device only supports Android phones, no WM ones.
I heard someone was porting its function to Windows Mobile, and then the device must be a very useful tool when it's been done.
Somehow, it's not time to buy it now.

Just got one in the mail today but it's for someone else who got interested when he saw my Sony Ericsson MBW-150.

A slight necro so my apologies.
Got an Xperia Play the other day and got round to syncing it to my previously unreliable LiveView.
Xperia detected what it was and installed the relevant software via LiveWare Manager (installed as stock on mine) and it has so far worked flawlessly for 2 days with no syncing issues.
Considering it previously disconnected every 5 minutes Im impressed.

Couldnt the process just be locked in memory using supercharger? Would that fix this disconnect issue people talk about? Im interested in getting one but this issue puts me off.

I may try it again but its pretty poor and I would not buy one again.....
They were £17.99 from play.com but still feel I have wasted money....
Can't believe you have to take it out of the case to charge it and then place it back on, I wonder who actually was responsible for the design, am sure I can do a better job with my eyes closed.

I bought the LiveView today and I must say I really like the device and it's really handy. You might want to put some extra attention at your internal memory because the device disconnects (BT gets terminated) when the internal memory gets below ~50mb.
One thing: I don't know why you guys are so whining about the connectivity issue, when the device disconnects it just takes one maybe two minutes to reconnect again.

It's because sometimes it doesn't reconnect....

I do this 3 steps:
-1º step
-Using Root Explorer, apply the Fivef Process (this seems to be needed only for non-Sense 2.3.x ROMs - looks like Sense in 2.2 builds allows LV to connect without confirmation).

I have found a solution for the repairing problems occurred on my desire HD with cyanogen 7 RC 1.
copy this file with e.g. root explorer to your SD card. edit it with e.g. astro as described below and then copy it back with root explorer. Restart your device.
/data/misc/bluetoothd/[device bt id]/linkkeys
your linkkeys file has to look something like that:
00:1D:BAD:8C:57 FF579860A41CD5A627D9D1596526715C 0 4
00:01:95:08:20:6F 809CC84592E6C1B06AB750170C365812 0 4
6C:23:B9:9B:4A:85 5AF503E766858EA7916D46C16DD31A34 0 4
The last entry is my liveview.
I just changed the last two numbers from I think
-1 0 to 0 4 so that it looks like the other entries.
The 0 is the linkkey type and the 4 the pin lenght.
But I don't know what the 0 stands for.
Have no time for futher research.
I just know that now the liveview automatically reconnects without an annoying pairing prompt.

-2º Step
- Find in the market & install the BEST Android program I've seen yet - "AutomateIt!"
- Create the following rule in this program:
-TRIGGER: BLUETOOTH DEVICE CONNECTED (LIVEVEW)
-ACTION: START APPLICATION (LIVEVIEW)
Using this incredible program, you can completely control every aspect of your phone's behavior - for example, automatically start PlayerPro and disable WiFi when wired headset is connected, automatically start WiFi when GPS detects that you have entered your home or office (!) and do million other cool things.
-3º Step
-Install liveviewcharm from market:
This application will maintain processes from "liveview app" always on, preventing android system to kill them. The LiveView app needs to put itself in the Notifications bar in order to keep from getting killed when it's in the background.
I think that guide will fix all liveview connection problems with all compatible devices and CM7/MIUI/STOCK.

Office Programs take more than 1 minute to load

Is anyone else having this issue yet? I have asked this on the rom development page and it seems that I may be the only one experincing this.
I have NRG's 10\28 rom loaded and I have removed many of my installed programs and I can not get the Office programs to load quickly. I have Nrg's rom 10\17 or so loaded on my wife's phone but hers doesnt seem to be doing this.
I am suspecting that it is something that I am installing that is doing this but I am not sure.
I have even downloaded the office 2010 beta today and it stil does it.
It does stop doing it for about a half a day if I reboot many times till it behaves, but then after about a half a day, it is back to taking more than 60 seconds to open word or excell, then about 20 ot 25 seconds to close it.
Any ideas??
Thank you all for looking at this.
Jeff
Takes no more than a few seconds max on my Tilt 2, I don't know man.
Same porb here, i dont think its a ROM issue as it did the same thing on most of the roms i flash. i just thought i was a WM thingi, and the worst part is it takes near 10 sec to open a NEW word doc..

Finally, someone else is also having this issue.
I have a slightly older version of the Energy rom on my wife's phone and hers is always fast to open.
I have been uninstalling programs one by one to see if one of them is affecting it.
What I have found is that as I install a couple, it will start working good, then a a few hours later, it goes to 1 min to open again.
And I am not even opening a file, just click on the excell icon, so that eliminates the bad file thing.
I will let you know what I find.
So do you have many apps installed? I have a lot, to many to mention here at this time, but if you only have a few, please list them and I will see if there are any in common between us.
Thanks,
Jeff
I had this problem on my AT&T Tilt 1 a long time ago. I was able to isolate the cause of the problem to sending/receiving Email over mobile data (wouldn't happen if the update was via wifi). Unfortunately the only thing that solved my problem was a hard reset .

interesting you mentioned wifi, i just observed today that it does not take a long time to open when i am on wifi, then i switched to no wifi, and it was taking lont time to open excel.
turned wifi back on and sure enough, excell opened quickly.
i then turnrd off my wifi network plugin, (disabled my map network drive) and now it seems to be opening excell just fine reguardless of wifi or not.
i will continue to test this ane report back.

Office Mobile looks for any files of the appropriate type (e.g., *.doc files for Word) on your device to open prior to loading. Before reading this last comment I was going to suggest removing your storage card, but if you have network drives mapped it's probably attempting to reach those while loading but timing out if they're not available.

So as long as I dont have my "enable Network Folder" clicked on the HTC's Network Plugin, it all works good. As soon as I click that, and enable the network folder, then it takes forever to open office unless I have the wifi turned on.
Man I have been fighting this for months, not sure if it was a rom thing or something that I was intalling.
I hope that others who have this issue can find this post and fix thier stuff too.

HTC Desire v HTC HD2

Hi
I'm expecting delivery of T-Mobile HTC Desire soon.
I have chosen this phone over HTC HD2 on a 7 day trial basis.
I know of the issue concerning bluetooth voice dialing on android phones and I am prepared to accept that there might or might not be a solution eventually.
I am a user of Thunderbird and use a program called Birdiesync for use with Windows Mobile phones. It just works 100%.
It seems to sync Thunderbird calendar and email will be fine on Desire, but I'm not so sure about thunderbird and contacts. For me most of my 500 contacts have postal addresses which are important to me, whereas only a small % have email addresses. It seems Thunderbird and Google contacts are handled differently and the few Thunderbird addons that exist for this issue are not 100%. Certainly when it comes to maintaining the structure of postal addresses.
Lastly I use a piece of software called SKScheMa 1.2.17 on Windows Mobile. This allows me to create a script that turns on bluetooth when phone is on charge and turns it off when phone taken off charge. I like this because when I get out of my car and go to a customers front door I don't want the phone still connected to the car bluetooth system. this software handles this for me. QUESTION: Does juicedefender handle this or can anyone else suggest another app.
It seems I am expected to give up quite a lot of functionability to move over to the Android platform, but I do believe it is/will be the OS of choice in the future.
Feedback and help would be most gratefuly received.
You almost always lose functionality when you move from Winmo, but you gain a nice interface and more fun apps. Eventually android will cover the short fall, it just depends how long you can wait.
The issue with the Desire v HD2 is not just software though. As nice as the AMOLED on the Desire is, the size of the HD2 is compelling. There really is no contest for picture and movie viewing. Some like the saturation level on AMOLED screens, but its much less natural than the LCD on the HD2, its just over saturated. Its not such a big deal on a phone i guess, but some pictures and videos do look quite wrong. I put both through a calibration using the gear i had for my Plasma and i can tell you the blacks on the AMOLED are great, but the colours are WAY WAY off. The HD2 is much better despite only being 65k colours.
Yeah
I'm not too sure if Android is for me to be honest.
I am fed up with poor battery life on every single Winmo phone I have ever owned. I use about 1500mins of tak per month. I really do need MS Voice Command, couldn't care less about playing mp3's watching vids etc. I like to be able to surf net and send and recieve emails. Because of my usage i will always be offered top spec phone for free. I just fancied a change, but even prior to delivery I may have to accept the fact that this latest phone is gonna have to be yet another HTC winmo phone that comes with an old platform, poor battery life etc. I may just need to wait another 18 months of contract before moving over to Android. I'm not too sure what winmo 7 will bring or lack or even if it will be available from here for the HD2
Although I am yet to get the Desire in my hands, it seems everything about the OS is a workaround to get the most basic of features working in a fashion that I am used to. The ability to sync contacts/email and calendar should just work. I just don't get it! Perhaps thunderbird is the problem, but I am not prepared to use Outlook. I use portable thunderbird on my main drive, and this allows you to copy the whole thin over onto a USB stick and use anywhere if required. hats just not possible with Outlook.
The HD2 is a great phone if you want compatibility with Office apps and the like. The screen is awesome and (if you use a custom ROM) bettery life is more than acceptable (2 days with moderate use).
BUT the Desire is a better all round phone out the box. I had to cook my own ROM to get my HD2 how I wanted it. I've not touched a thing on the Desire since I got it.
Perhaps you can help me then.
I really would love to be able to have bluetooth on when unit is on charge and off when not. Does anyone know of an app that does it. Does Juicedefender?
Whilst I may not have to meddle with the Desire it just might be beacuse nothing I want it to do for me is actually available.
1. No bluetooth handsfree voice dialing
2. No apparant flawless syncing between Thunderbird and Android platform
3. No bluetooth on when on charge and off when disconnected.
Whilst I fully understand my requirements may not be on the forefront of many mainstream users, they are hardly so obscure to be not available.
I just don't get it. I know the Android platform is the future, but perhaps for me I need to wait.
I'll give it the 7 days and see if the experience is so great that I'm prepared to give up the proper functionability I have come to expect from a phone.
I had the same dilema... HD2 or Desire..
I've got the Desire but it's going back to orange today... Don't get me wrong it's a good phone but the main things I use my phone for just don't work as well as in my winmo diamond... so, i'm getting the HD2 - I stream a lot of video/mp3s with myplayer, skyfire (tvactchup) and also use fpsece a lot on my diamond but the experience i've had with video streaming on the desire is'nt great.. I know they'll get it right when Full Flash is released later in the year (10.1? is it?) but I'm a bit impatient and I can't wait till then.
I've also tried Xdandroid on my diamond and although it's not perfect I should be able to run Android on my winmo device anyway - so that's made my mind up.
I've had my HD2 for about 6 weeks now, and I'm fed up with it. I have loads of issues with it, but the big ones are:
- Constantly crashes (dialer app mainly - I've tried various ROMS with no luck)
- On screen keyboard is useless
- Internet links impossible to hit cleanly every time, even when zoomed in.
- Smooth scrolling of menus/web pages is impossible
- Lack of a proper "App Store"
- No upgrade path to Win Phone 7
- Confused, counter intuitive UI layout (Window's fault)
- Phone is so large its difficult to hold/operate with one hand.
My wife took delivery of her Desire yesterday, and I'm jealous, although it has reminded me that the HD2 has a lovely *big* screen in comparison.
Desire first impressions:
- On screen keyboard is a delight to use
- Internet links are easy to click
- Nice smooth menu action
- Well thought out, intuitive UI
- Sits nicely in the palm, easy to use one handed
In terms of battery life no smart phone is especially good. I dont think you really lose or gain anything by switching to another OS if the hardware spec is basically the same.
Get both! haha

I'm pretty sure that Locale does this on the market, and I believe there are plenty of others too but I can't remember off the top of my head.
I would never go back to WinMo even if someone gave me the latest handset.

Okay I have also been told that Tasker does it too.
Now I need to be convinced about syncing with Thunderbird properly. Calendar seems fine, and email is easy for me. It's just how contacts are handled. I use postal addresses a lot and I pride myself on the fact that I have over 600 records all properly set out below.
Address
City
State
Postal Code
Home Tel
Mobile Tel
Work Tel
Very few of them have an email address.
Android/Google seems to require an email address so all of my contacts now seem to require a bogus email. That's ok, but Google also seem to want to handle the address more a a note than anything else, and it does not seem to look nice on my PC. How it looks on my phone will be the make or breaking point for me.
I personally like the desire over the HD2, the one thing that annyoed me about the HD2 was the screen problems and having to keep on sending it back to HTC until you finally got one that worked.
Apart from that the wm6.5 and the phone itself was spot on, the HTC Desire on the other hand has not been rooted yet but is damn fast, if not faster than the bulky WM. The only down side to the desire for me are the keys at the bottom of the device.

A large number of my contacts just have phone numbers and no email addresses. I tried creating a new contact with just a name and it work. Am I miss-understanding what you are trying to do?
Also setting profiles lite/pro probably handles the disabling and enabling of bluetooth.

I'm not too sure if this is a Thunderbird issue. I use thunderbird over Outlook because you can instaal Portable Thunderbird onto your hard drive rather than a USB drive. Portable thunderbird by it's very nature does not install anything into your registery. Therefore it is possible to copy it in it in full at any given time on to a USB stick and then you are walking around with all of your details to be used plugged into any PC. I suppose if I were to really sit down and think about this option it may well be redundant if I am prepared to use Google. However my way of thinking at the moment is to use google as nothing more than a server between my Android phone and my email client.
All I know is that the Thunderbird addons do not seem to be flawless.
I need to get the phone and experiment.
I really would like it to work.
No Voice Command or anything that offere bluetooth handsfree voice dialling was all I thought I was giving up by moving to Android. However that may not be the case.

Kaiser 110 problems

Greetings all --
I am posting this request for help because I've exhausted just about every other resource. The community support and documentation is great and I have learned quite a bit in a matter of days. You all are great!
Here's my situation. I have the HTC 8900 (KAIS110). Not the 8925 like most seem to have. It is my understanding that 3 versions of the "Kaiser" were made, or at least submitted to FCC for approval, and that the 8900 was to go to AT&T (branded on phone), but was canceled in lieu of the 8925. This is the non-camera version.
For reference, the following information is listed in the battery compartment:
HTC 8900
KAIS110
FCC ID: NM8KS
SKU: 64760
P/N: 99HCY091-00
Made in Taiwan
Currently:
HardSPL 3.56
Radio: 1.71.09.01
Myn's Warm Donut RLS5
kallt_kaffe's kernel 2010-06-06 (kaiser/240x320/donut/panel 2/tilt options used in LoserSkaters NBH Editor)
Problems:
1. Installing OS (Sys+Data on NAND), dmesg output shows "Block 711 is bad". Under normal circumstances, this wouldn't be a problem as the OS would remap to a new block. This could also be an issue with yaffs, or a few other things, and not even be bad. But the question remains, is this causing problems?
2. Attempting to run Calibrate Screen results in error with the following message: "The application Calibrate Screen (process org.isageek.dasbrennen.CalibrateScreen) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. [Force close]". I have not seen a recent post in response to whether this problem persists with all builds, or if I am just lucky like that.
3. GPS does not want to play nice. From the app store, I install GPS by Andrea Baccega. Sometimes I get a single satellite to display, once I saw 3 on screen. Unfortunately, none of the other fields (long/lat) were populated which tells me something is wrong.
Dmesg output:
GPS:env_mask=0
GPS:date=00002000
GPS:time=000000 hlat=0 llat=0 hlng=0 llng=0
GPS:speed=0 bearing=0
GPS: has been tickled!
4. Using the phone on T-Mobile, why can I not get 3G working? It keeps going back to EDGE. I have the Android data plan as well.
5. Voice search is quite flaky. Sometimes it works great once, maybe a few times in a row, and then it just stops working and presents me with the Try Again / Cancel screen, after which, there is no longer audio for phone calls. From what I can tell using Dev Tools, looks like VoiceSearch is hanging due to an issue with Mediaserver. I recall seeing this issue, or a similar one, surface in the forums but there was not much information pertaining to it that I could find.
6. The following errors appear in the dmesg output; I am posting the list just in case one or more messages are beyond the scope of normal operations:
mmc1: host does not support reading read-only switch. assuming ite-enable.
Init: cannot open '/initlogo.rle'
[RR] ERROR no local ept for prog 02000031 replying anyway!!
audio_enable()
audpp: DMA missed
audio timer expired
audio_disable()
audmgr: DISABLED
binder: send failed reply for transaction 5448 to 149:221
7. As stated above, this phone lacks a camera. The slot where the camera goes, just has a cover over it. Looks like I should be able to pop a replacement in the spot. Anyone know the part number of the rear camera, or where I might find one? I can only seem to locate the front-camera on various web sites.
Thanks all!
1. bad blocks are common, yaffs reports them, and marks them as unusable, they have no effect on running Android, ( one of my kais130's has about 10 bad blocks, works fine).
2. Thats normal also, not sure if calibration app has ever worked, although i think there is a console based one that does, never had to use it though.
3. GPS may or may not work properly depending on a number of factors, which build and NBH are used, also which gps software is used also, best combo I have found so far are the Kallt_Kaffe NBH's and Myn's warm Eclair, with GPS test (free or pro). Also note that initial fixes take some time, up to, or over 5 minutes, depending on conditions, etc.
4. Not sure, could be a number of factors again, build, local 3G coverage, APN setup, etc.
5. Never used voice search, but it is known to be pretty flakey, again build plays a large part.
6. I know that there are normally errors on boot, the audio ones are not normal however, could be due to using an older radio, or perhaps some rare kais110 issue, can't actually recall anyone reporting issues with kais110 hardware.
7. Not sure if it's possible to just add a rear camera, it'll depend if the supporting electronics were fitted to allow it to work or not, also unsure where to look for one, although you may be able to get a part number off the service manuals, ( should be in the xda-wiki pages ).
TMobile and AT&T use different 3G frequencies, so an AT&T phone such as your won't do 3G on TMobile. The EDGE will work fine, but slow of course.

Use GPS Test (chartcross ltd), free version from Market. Configure it to not turn off display (keep it from going to sleep). Plug in a charger (if you wan to) and leave it near a window.
Within 5-10 minutes you should have a fix. After that, getting a fix normally happens within seconds. Depending on how much time has passed since you last used your GPS and also the distance you moved it while having it turned off also affects the time to get a fix.
Also blocking the top of the phone with your hand is not a good idea as it seems to be an effective way of blocking the GPS signals.

Thanks for the response -- I had tried that over the past 2 nights, but it never took. It just did however, during the day, which is odd. I also switched to a 1.64.08.21 version of the radio today, and it worked. Previous attempts were under 1.71.09.01, 1.70.19.09 and 1.70.18.02 that resulted in failure. Odd.
Is there a way to view all roms installed, for everything? OS, kernel, radio, splash/boot, etc? I am wondering if something got hung up during flashing, or something didnt get wiped out.
Thanks!

Thanks for the response -- I have done this several times (left it going for 10+ hrs at the max time), and it picks up 4-5 satellites, but nothing ever occurs. It sits there with the yellow light, and all of the numbers show in the 20's to very low 30's, which seems like it's a very weak signal, or a high signal/noise ratio. Could this be a radio issue?

20-30 actually should be enough. Anything above 40 is excellent and not seen very often. And I'm using the same Radio so that should be the problem. Don't know really. Does it work in WinMo?

I had no problem working under winmo before i flashed android to nand. It had no delay in picking it up either. I just rebooted the phone and launched google navigator, and it's taking forever again, searching for gps it says.
If you want to use me as a guinea pig, feel free. I ended up ordering the nokia n900, as i need something working now. I am considering keeping the kaiser 110 to screw around with though. It would make a good backup device anyways. I tried Myn's Warm Eclair on it, but it dragged its legs and had too many problems. Myn's Warm Donut however, functions near perfectly and is quite fast. I've oc'd the processor to 450 MHz which provides a noticeable speed boost. I'm using your latest 2010.06.06 kernel with it. I've been questioning whether or not display 2 and 3 are the same on this model -- sure behaves the same.
-update: Phone comes to a crawl, and then locks up when GPS is used. Both the GPS Test and Google Nav.

6.0 Makes N7 Feel Like a New Device!

Am I alone on this thought? I was really thinking about selling this tablet a month ago and decided to wait for the update, because I knew how terrible Lollipop was/is. I really am glad I waited, this tablet feels like a brand new device! No lag, approximately 650MB being used on average!, battery life is amazing, WiFi connection doesn't drop anymore, so far I can't find a flaw! If I did, there are so many pros to this update it couldn't take away the happiness I feel about what is better!
What do you think? Am I alone on this thought?

I share you thoughts but GPU performance is crippled since lollipop :/

I think it's great too. Much more polished. The only problem is that I can't access my microsd using user apps that don't require root.
Really? I thought that was one of the major changes to 6.0? Very strange... I don't use an external SD though, but still, strange nonetheless. I wonder how the Moto X Pure will do hearing this, considering that's a big selling factor for it.

KK for performance, LP or MM for a low gaming performing device and a higher Android number in Abour Tab

Micro SD is accessible via system app. Once you insert your portable storage, go to Settings/Storage & USB and there you will see your portable storage drive. Click on it and you will be able to access your files. No problem watching movies stored on my micro SD. :good:
Unfortunately wifi option doesn't work properly and you can quickly drain the battery if you don't turn off wifi when you haven't access. Keep wifi on during sleep option is broken.

The catch is you can't access your files if you're not using a system app or a user app with root access. Since most multimedia apps don't actively ask root permission, they won't have rights to access the microsd folder created under "/mnt/media_rw". You can't change the permissions to the microsd folder either. Perhaps if you set up your microsd as "internal storage" (see adoptable storage feature) instead of "portable storage" all multimedia apps can access it (since these apps have permission for it, of course), but Android M didn't implement that feature yet, at least as far as Flo is concerned.
Luckly Chainfire's Stickmount app uses its root rights to mount the microsd inside the internal storage (under sdcard), where all apps have access.
I was quite shocked to find out that a feature like adoptable storage, which has been announced by the media as Google finally playing along fairly with external storage, seems to be actually quite the opposite.
in this light YES it feels like a "new" device ... coming directly from a backyard in china with cloned firmware not belonging to this hw ,-)
would be interesting what TO understands as "battery life is amazing" when standby lasts max 2days.
Having to en-/disable WiFi everytime I want to use my tab is anything but amazing.
To add another one to the list: access from PC via USB doesn't work either.
One has to enable developer settings to switch USB to MTM allthough it is allready selected, charge only seems to be default with no possibility to change for standard users.
This seems to be the most untested and buginfested "upgrade" I encountered in my Android history.
I doubt even M$ could do worse ...

I have that usb problem too thats some bull****.
Battery life is pretty damn good I got over seven hours screen on time over 3 days with not light usage (no games). I don't have any wifi problems but even a bad signal shouldn't drain it since Doze should shut it down so I'm not sure what would be draining your battery. I lose 1-2% overnight.
My biggest problem with 6.0 is Doze. Turns off everything for good standby time, works great for that but now I don't get lots of notifications like email or calendar when it's dozing and excluding them from battery "optimization" does not work. They gotta fix that ****.
looks like I'm not alone with WiFi battery drain.
Maybe it is related to the LTE version?
Today I lost 20% overnight ... on a freshly flashed system w/o any installed apps, not even google account.
Just WiFi credentials and set keep WiFi on to never ...
Good time to test the CM12.1 ....
Edit: somehow 6.0 fails to recognize my 16GB Lexar 3.0 USB-drive. It says it's defective and offers to format but fails with a runtime error. The same USB-drive works w/o problem on my lenovo.
Has anyone have issues downloading files using Chrome? I use CF Lumen, and Chrome prompted me to disable that, which I did. Tapping links for downloads has no effect; I tried multiple sites to be sure. Weird!
[EDIT] Delete please - I posted my question in the Lumen thread.
hmmm, mysterious.
yesterday I left it as is at my office and it lost only 5% in 16 hours ... allthough WiFi was allways on according to batt graph
Is this WiFi behavior normal for marshmallow? I don't think so... Any solution for this?
Unlocked bootloader and rooted
Hi,
at least yours doesn't lie to you. Mine pretends to have not been using wifi ... but if I shut it off, I can see the difference.
It is interesting that the periods where wifi is shown as off were situations where no wifi was available or couldn't connect.
Due to the graph and stats, wifi was on but didn't consume (allmost) any energy. But if I totally disable Wifi I can see the difference (battery life prediction: 15 days)!
If I sum up all consumption infos I get 258mAh used in about 9.5h. 258mAh are approx 5.9% of the battery (not 19%) and recalculated the predicted life should be approx. 16 times 9.5h ... so something is very flawed in this region.
Mine is exceptional, like 1-2% overnight battery usage. My only observation is when I set the tablet down and use it the touchscreen rarely registers a touch. When it is held in my hands and I use my thumbs it works fine.... It has a rubber tpu style case stretched over it, doesn't make a difference. It also has a tempered glass screen protector. Is there a way to turn up touch sensitivity? I know some Samsung builds actually had that option.

Anybody using Airplay to stream music?

After a while, about four to six minutes, it disconnects and the music keeps playing through the HTC 10 loudspeakers. I'm streaming to my Onkyo TX-RZ900 which works just fine when associated with my IMac Airplay.
No answers so far... I'm surprised I'm the only one trying to use this. Since Nougat, Airplay does not connect anymore, anyways.
I haven't tried since the Nougat update, but it did the same to me in Marshmallow. As far as I remember, it was quite random how long it was working for. Sometimes a minute or so, sometimes 5-10 mins. It was one of the features that convinced me to buy the HTC 10 originally, but had to learn living without it the end. But I'm very forgiving, cause otherwise I love this phone
Thanks for your feedback. It would be nice if you could give it another try now that Nougat is there.
Tried with Nougat. It appeared to have been connected a little bit longer, but I still got disconnected after a couple of mins. By a couple I mean like 2
Problem solved for me.
I use Adguard to get rid of ads on my phone. I finally understood it blocked Airplay by default, applied the correct settings, Airplay now works like a charm. I'm a happy camper.

Hmm...Is it still ok ever since? I don't use Adguard or anything similar and I'm on full stock rom. I'm wondering what's causing this on my phone...
You're right. It holded up pretty good for a few days, but now it disconnects just like it always did. What a shame.
Crap! It would be nice to find a solution for this - I think of this a lot more since we've started talking about it here...
What I find intriguing is that I can't see many people complaining about it on the internet and this makes me wondering if
a, it's a bug that only affects a small percentage of devices, but otherwise working fine
b, people don't know that HTC added Airplay support to HTC Connect
c, people having this phone don't have any Apple devices, because it's made by the enemy
I couldn't agree more.
But I must confess I had never heard of Airplay before I got my Onkyo receiver... Even if I own an IMac...
Killer feature in my opinion
When it works.
Not giving up. I disabled WiFi battery optimization in advanced WiFi settings, the connection has been flawless for the last few days. A step in the right direction?

Haha I already have I'll give this a go too and will report back with my results
Here's the newest twist: I don't know what happened, we moved house, but are using the same routers (2 Time Capsules), same Apple TV, same HTC 10 with full official nougat and yet it doesn't connect anymore It says "Unable to connect to Apple TV"
Tried
* wiping app data
* wiping cache partition
* restarting routers
* restarting Apple TV
* restarting HTC 10
No luck. My wife's HTC 10 does the same. It goes silent for a split second like it was connected, then the connection breaks and keeps playing on the phone. If I manually select Apple TV (kinda forcing it to reconnect), it throws the above error. In the same time, my MacBook Air and my iPad can AirPlay to the same Apple TV, so it's something with the phones. Since it kept disconnecting anyway, it's not a big loss, but I guees my tests end here for now. I'll try after the next system update, that might bring it back to life
That's unfortunate... I wish I could help. No clue what's going on with your set up, as I use no Apple devices.
My 10 works like a charm with my Onkyo receiver since I disabled the WiFi optimization, I'm amazed it was that simple.
I'll give that a go if/when it starts working again. It was turned on both on my phone and my wife's, so yeah, maybe this was the culprit.
