Quick question. I'm using cm7 #8 and am having a hard time staying connected to my wifi router. As long as I am using my phone and screen is on, it will stay connected. If I let my phone sleep for a bit then it loses connection. Using stock kernel. Running setcpu at stock speed...only using it to keep at 245mhz while screen off to save battery. Also using autokilllr memory manager set on "aggressive". Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be posting this on CM's forums, or sending in a bug report with them. (I've never done bug reporting on CM) CM #7 is not their stable release, you're either running a nightly, which are known to have bugs, or a version of CM7 that someone modded into their own rom.
TL;DR version: CM7 is still buggy. Wait for the release instead of using a nightly.
Go to Settings; Wireless and Networks; Wifi Settings and press menu. Select Advanced and then Wifi Sleep policy and change it to never. This is a known bug in CM releases since the 6.1.2 stable release and this is how you fix it for now.
You are the man! I knew it was a simple setting that I missed. Have a good day!

If i dont use my phone for a while and i go to push menu button to wake it up it wont wake have to pull battery anyone else have this happen?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Are you running the stock Kernel that came with CM7 RC3? and did you enable this option? by default menu doesn't wake the phone up. I have seen some kernels to have slow to wake issues before.
I switched to chads 3 18 kernel for gingerbread cause i tried rc2 and the stocl on thst was awful and im sorry i didnt mean menu i meant the power buttonf that locks and turns off screen and turns it back on... it will work for a while then if phone sits i hit the button up top over and over but nothong happens screen stays off and i have to take battery out..

Have you tried going back to the stock kernel? If it doesn't do it with the stock kernel then its a problem with Chads kernel and not the CM 7 RC 2 ROM. And I've never had a problem with any of the CM 7 RC's. Also I believe that switching kernels requires wiping cache and dalvik cache first, did you do that before flashing the new kernel? I was getting phenomenal battery life out of CM 7 RC3 with the stock kernel, just switched to RC 4 today so lets hope it lasts as long. You may want to upgrade your ROM and try teh stock kernel again.
I reloaded and kept the stock kernel on rc3 and its running very good so far nice and smooth and quick

Use the latest CM7 nighty build cm-7-20120617-NIGHTLY-epicmtd.zip
Also stick with the stock kernel the rom comes with.

No he means reflash the latest nightly and stick with the kernel it comes with. If that don't work you will have to Odin.

Cm7 has both overclock to 1.2ghz and built in performance settings to enable overclock.

When i look in settings, under tweaks.. and OC- i see it set no higher or allowing higher than 1000.
My Question remains- WHY is my GPRS automatically turning on, especially with Airplane mode on. I thought it was connected to my WIFI, but it turns on even if i have wifi off.
Do you actually mean gprs the gsm technology or do you really mean gps?
I doubt gprs is turning on since this is a cdma phone that doesn't support it.

Well eliminate one factor by flashing the latest nightly with stock kernel which allows you to OC within by going to settings/cyanogenmod settings/performance/ there will be a setting to allow for 1200 OC.
OR
Now that you have over 10 post ask in your kernels thread.
The software says gprs. I still basically mean data, not wifi. It appears to use a lot of power.
It is always on.

I just flashed with the new nightly, I still have data issues, and I don'tsee the option to OC. I'll do a fresh format and image to remove doubt.

I've been having issues backing everything up so i can do a fresh flash. But- does anyone have anything on this?
Ok- I just formatted my phone and
Flashed it. Upon flash of nightly - without recovering any apps or anythjng' my phone did not show the oc of anything. After installing go apps, my phone showed mobile data on and in use.
After that I installed my samuri kernel and fully recovered my pps. I thought that maybe go switch widget was initiating the mobile data... but it isn't. Any ideas?

Once again, formatted fresh. Rc2, no oc, mobile data persistent on, home button doesn't work until reboot and install of some apps.
Help please.

So, after messing with my issue a bit further. I have come to notice that the Mobile Data turns it's self on in either timely increments (once every 5-10 mins) Or It is scheduled to turn on every time the device is unlocked. My "Go Power" thing has reported that the Mobile data a lone is using up about 1/4 the power.
Also, i STILL have no seen ANY Over Clock option in ANY stock variable of this installation.
I HAVE noticed that every time i clean flash my phone, the home button does not work until at least a reboot of the device.
What is the latest version of gapps. available? I went to the IRC- and everyone pointed over to the ICS package, which i did try and it really killed my phone. I Have to stick with the Gingerbread.
Bump

So. anyone? -
Don't some power saving apps cycle data off and on on a schedule, rather than "always on"? If the problem started after you installed go power, or other battery saving apps/tweaks, I'd try uninstalling them.
Roms like macrodroids sense 3.6, or MIUI have an issue when WiFi connects where the radio cuts out for several seconds. This problem also occurred previously on Viper, but it was fixed.
Does anyone know what the fix for that is?
It's really not a huge deal in the large scheme of things, but it annoys me.
Thanks.

I think its a kernel problem, try flashing the viper kernal, may gave to flash boot IMG also. Read the op says they no WiFi/ 3g drops.

I think this referred to Newts 3.6 where the radio would cut out completely when wifi connected.

Currently on Goodness Noteworthy 1.0.8 (4 1.2).
I've tried the latest Illusion & PA 4.3 ROMs. I liked them, both, very much.
The problem is I cannot get a 3g connection with either ROM. I live in a non-LTE area so this is a deal breaker.
It's not my location because I have fantastic 3g on Goodness in the same places.
I tried updating PRL & profile, before flashing, still no connection.
I've seen others are having this problem with those ROMs as well.
I was thinking I might need to flash a 4.2 ROM, that has a good 3g connection, before moving up to 4.3 but now I see people have had the same issue in 4.2.
Any suggestions?

I'm currently running PA 3.99 and 3g and 4g seems spotty. Even wifi is not as reliable. PA 3.99 is my first flashed rom and have been a daily for me...but not sure how much longer i can take it. Thinking about flashing a 4.2.2 rom.

Did you ever get resolution on this? I'm having a very similar issue with AOKP's latest 4.3 rom. I've also noticed that sometimes I can get service if I reboot a few times, but that's a PITA when I'm just trying to listen to streaming music in the car.

I flashed PA 3.99 RC2 a couple of days ago & I've had no problems with 3g connection at all.
There's a lot of chatter about changing your APN in order to fix these kinds of issues but I made no changes.

Yeah. I messed around with changing the APN but still no luck. I guess I'll wait for an update to AOKP like you did with PA. At least my wifi works. Thanks!
I just deleted the "Sprint" APN and it behaves a lot better (not perfect). Need to test more APN configs to try and figure it all out.

The only way I managed to fix this was to flash an older version of Aosp Rom. I'm using cm10.2 and I clean flashed back to a 9/25 nightly.
