Quick question. I'm using cm7 #8 and am having a hard time staying connected to my wifi router. As long as I am using my phone and screen is on, it will stay connected. If I let my phone sleep for a bit then it loses connection. Using stock kernel. Running setcpu at stock speed...only using it to keep at 245mhz while screen off to save battery. Also using autokilllr memory manager set on "aggressive". Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be posting this on CM's forums, or sending in a bug report with them. (I've never done bug reporting on CM) CM #7 is not their stable release, you're either running a nightly, which are known to have bugs, or a version of CM7 that someone modded into their own rom.
TL;DR version: CM7 is still buggy. Wait for the release instead of using a nightly.
Go to Settings; Wireless and Networks; Wifi Settings and press menu. Select Advanced and then Wifi Sleep policy and change it to never. This is a known bug in CM releases since the 6.1.2 stable release and this is how you fix it for now.
You are the man! I knew it was a simple setting that I missed. Have a good day!

Okay... thanks... I need help with my wifi issue. It will stay connected for a while but later turn off in which I have to reboot my Evo just to get it to work again... In the settings, it would say: ERROR... Does anyone know a way around this??? AND is there a GPS fix yet??? But the first question is more important..
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
I use Juice Defender and never had that problem. It has an option to 'fix' it.
I use juice defender as well... Where inside juice defender is that option? Also, remember my wifi would turn off and not be able to reconnect unless I reboot... But if juice defender works, I would like to know where that option is inside there that will help me out. Thanks!!!
I can't help you with the wifi, mine works flawlessly. What kernel are you using? you may have better luck with an earlier kernel if using a newer one. While I'm on tiamat 4.0.5, you may need to flash back to 4.0.1 or 4.0.2.
Unfortunately, not all EVO's are the same.
For the GPS, try this:
If you have downloaded GPS Status, try this, It may help.
Open GPS Status and go to menu-tools-manage A-GPS state-and reset the A-GPS data. Then download the data file. If you don't already have GPS status, go get it from the market. The free one works fine.
It fixed my issues without having to reflash to a sense rom. There is also a patch that you may need to apply before this fix.
CM7-N39-GPS-Driver so you don't have the processor pegging at 90% all the time, you must do this on UD 3.3.1 otherwise your phone will get really hot and battery will die quickly.

Don't run the rom, but if by chance you used wireless tether, and it started with errors, and you try using wifi after, it breaks, and is fixed by rebooting.
Menu-Settings-Wireless and Networks-Wifi Settings- Hit Menu-Advanced-Wifi Sleep Policy- Never.
Your welcome and let me know if something else pop up.

Just popped my cherry on the whole rooting my evo and flashing this rom. The rom is awesome by the way. Im having an issue with the wifi disconnecting when Im browsing the net or when I update mr friends stream. Is there something else I need to flash to fix this?
Try a different kernel or check your WiFi settings. Make sure the sleep settings is checked onto "never"
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You can try setting your wifi sleep policy to never under settings/wireless networks/wifi settings hit the menu button go to advanced that might work but you should ask in the thread for that ROM you'll get a lot more help sorry if your still in that 10 post deal I'm on the xda app so I can't see it right now.

I agree with Steven lookup freedom kernel i use the aggressive version and wireless N is fully supported. I never have drop in wifi but you'll find out all phones act different.
I installed this rom and like it. However the data connection seems to disappear alot and wont reconnect unless I restart the phone. Any one had a similar problem ?

change the apn setting.
Are you running lordmod bfs kernel. If so switch to cfs. This is an issue a few ppl have with bfs. Haven't been able to pinpoint it,as it occurrs randomly. I have on cm nightlies but not blackice which is based on cm
I was actually getting this with the CFS kernel, but not very often, and I thought it might have been because of my carrier, so I didn't report it in the blackice thread.
I don't have much to offer except to say you can save yourself a reboot by just toggling 2G/3G data on and off - this gets my connection back every time. I added it to my power widget for quick access
Also I haven't had the problem yet in the latest stable version, are you using that version now?
Yeah I'm using the latest. It isn't happening as often as it did on 1.22. Not sure what the answer is really.

Hey, I have the same problem with the latest BlackIce Rom, and it is using the CFS kernel. I also can not turn it on/off by toggling 3G. Any idea what it could be?
Thanks.

No he means reflash the latest nightly and stick with the kernel it comes with. If that don't work you will have to Odin.

When i look in settings, under tweaks.. and OC- i see it set no higher or allowing higher than 1000.
My Question remains- WHY is my GPRS automatically turning on, especially with Airplane mode on. I thought it was connected to my WIFI, but it turns on even if i have wifi off.
Do you actually mean gprs the gsm technology or do you really mean gps?
I doubt gprs is turning on since this is a cdma phone that doesn't support it.

Well eliminate one factor by flashing the latest nightly with stock kernel which allows you to OC within by going to settings/cyanogenmod settings/performance/ there will be a setting to allow for 1200 OC.
OR
Now that you have over 10 post ask in your kernels thread.
The software says gprs. I still basically mean data, not wifi. It appears to use a lot of power.
It is always on.

I just flashed with the new nightly, I still have data issues, and I don'tsee the option to OC. I'll do a fresh format and image to remove doubt.

Ok- I just formatted my phone and
Flashed it. Upon flash of nightly - without recovering any apps or anythjng' my phone did not show the oc of anything. After installing go apps, my phone showed mobile data on and in use.
After that I installed my samuri kernel and fully recovered my pps. I thought that maybe go switch widget was initiating the mobile data... but it isn't. Any ideas?

So, after messing with my issue a bit further. I have come to notice that the Mobile Data turns it's self on in either timely increments (once every 5-10 mins) Or It is scheduled to turn on every time the device is unlocked. My "Go Power" thing has reported that the Mobile data a lone is using up about 1/4 the power.
Also, i STILL have no seen ANY Over Clock option in ANY stock variable of this installation.
I HAVE noticed that every time i clean flash my phone, the home button does not work until at least a reboot of the device.
What is the latest version of gapps. available? I went to the IRC- and everyone pointed over to the ICS package, which i did try and it really killed my phone. I Have to stick with the Gingerbread.
Bump

So. anyone? -
Don't some power saving apps cycle data off and on on a schedule, rather than "always on"? If the problem started after you installed go power, or other battery saving apps/tweaks, I'd try uninstalling them.
Got my sgs3 Sunday and when I got home turned on WiFi and started playing with it I notice that I lose network for a second after about 15 mins and my WiFi icon on the status bar disappear but network comes back on .. but in settings it is greyed out and I can't turn it off then back on till I reboot 0_o...thought maybe after I rooted and flash AOKP it would be fixed but no! I'm on T-Mobile and AOKP..so is it a bad WiFi driver or...? Any ideas?
#*0011# press the menu key. Select wifi. uncheck wifi power saver mode. Its should be green when on black off. Make sure its not on and done go back to home screen. Your phone should reboot the wifi driver and your done.
This method works for 4.0.4 any of the roms. Cm10 doesn't work. Cm9 haven't tried but I'm sure it'll work for u.

Cuz if you are that's normal on every reboot you have to go back and turn it off again.

would the method above work for me? since yesterday, my wifi kept turning on by itself. After I turned the wifi off for like a couple minutes then it'll turn on automatically again. I have the Keep Wifi on during sleep set as "only when plugged in" and it never happen to be before until yesterday. My power saving in the setting menu has always been off too. Please help! :crying::crying:
Install the app called "Wifi Fixer" app to the solve the issue.
Whatever Google did to cause a variety of wakelock problems, having a strong wifi signal seems to solve them. Apparently, wakelocks occur when there are unreliable connections to Google's servers.
