Move IGO Folder to Phone Memory - Desire General

Does anyone know how to move my iGO folder to to Phone memory?I have enough space for it because I use oxygenr2 hboot and I have 337 mb free space on my phone.I would like to do this because I thing that my Sd Card make some problem and reboot my phone while I'm using iGO.Somewhere i saw that iGO crashing if sd card is not fast enough....that's why i want to move it and see the result.

Root explorer. Or any other file manager.
And IGO crashing if you have a slow SD? Strange.

I have try Root Explorer but when I move it iGO did not start."'Unable to find iGO directory files''.

Then it is not possible I'm afraid.

Ok thanks for the info

Hi, this might not be related to your problem, but:
- when I run igo on stock rom (2.2), cm7r2..., everything is ok (and I have used class 2 and also class 4 cards without any problems)
- when I flashed another rom (aurora 4.1, a2sd), moved dalvik cache to ext4 (because of lack of memory) and installed/run igo, system went monkeys - froze unexpectably (mostly during a call, sometimes after turning phone on froze on the home screen etc). I didn't find any other solution (so far) than moving to another rom (stock)...
I don't think the troublemaker is your sd card...try different rom and see...and let me know ;-)

You would need to write a script that runs at boot (/system/etc/init.d) to symlink its original location on SD card to wherever you have moved it to so iGo can see the files. You cant simply move them and expect that hardcoded location in teh application to change

Apps2sd problem

I have had the latest MoDaCo rom running on my T-Mobile G2 touch a day after I recieved it and have to say that it out performs the stock rom by far. I have noticed a problem in the last 2 days or so which prompted me to do a clean install today but unfortunately did not resolve the problem.
I originally installed the MoDaCo rom using the guide over at the unlockr which was very simple and effective. I also decided that I would try and use apps2sd to help remove installed packages off my phone and store them on my 8GB SD. I had partitioned my sd card as the guide here suggests, I followed the code correctly by basically using copy and paste function in cmd so as to not make any mistakes and made note to update the ext2 to ext3 only as I read that the ext4 has issues with this particular rom.
I presumed everything was fine until today I noticed that when I install an app from the market store it seems to still be storing all the applications on the phone memory, I noticed the phone memory was reducing on every installation wheras the sdcard memory is untouched. Another thing I noticed is that in the sd card setting the sd card total space is being read as 7078MB wheras the partition was for a size of 7437MB. I have also accessed the data/apps folder on my phone through adb shell commands and low and behold all my apps are stored on there. There is also no folder on the sd card so there must be a problem.
I would be greatful if anyone could guide me as to any known issues with apps2sd on this particular rom or whether they can see where I might have done something incorrectly.
Many Thanks
With Aps2SD as I understand it, some parts of the programmes are still stored on the devices - system files etc. so The phone memory will change gradually.
Also, the browser and market caches still grow on the device, and need deleting via Application manager to keep the device memory as free as possible. (With Browser, clear cache, but not data as this clears your cookies and bookmarks )
Also, the apps from aps 2 SD are of course stored on the Ext3 partition. It doesn't get read at all as the SD Card in the device, as the device only sees FAT32 as SDCard space, so new apps loaded don't make a dint in the SD Memory seen on the device, or even in your PC, as this does the same thing, it doesn't see the Ext3 partition.
In My case, prior to installing MCR rom, I had around 50 apps on my device and my phone memory was reading around 70MB
After a wipe and installing MCR2.0 before loading any APPS - I was at around 155MB
After reinstalling ALL my 50 apps plus a fair few more - so around 60 apps(including some bulky apps like CoPilot - which I know stores around 8mb of its total of 15mb on the device itself to run smoothly and Docs To Go) I'm at around 120MB
So my advice is - Check your Browser and market caches. If your device has 50 or 60 apps on taking up around 30mb, then the bulk of those apps are being stored on your Ext 3 partition and its likely all running as it should.
If you have 50 or 60 apps and they are taking up closer to 80/90mb of your device storage, then aps2 SD might not have worked. - check on the thread for ROM that you have installed for advice on how to solve it.
Hope that helps

sygic mobile not working with gps

never gets a gps position anyone else seen this?
got it working had to remove from sd card and install to internal sd.. bummer because it wastes a lot of space
that's because of the file structure required.
yes but if it was the file structure i would have expected it to not run and not find the map but it ran and found the map but never got a gps signal..

so true.. as a side note it is really strange the way they addressed the internal memory and sd card
ie in case you havent figured it out the sd card is just a subdirectory of the internal memory
ie /sdcard is the internal memory
/sdcard/sd is th sd card
versus my older i8910 and n97 where the internal memory and sd cards are entirely separate disks..
very strange indeed
I had the same problem. Since I removed Sygic and re-instal it, it works great!

In linux (and in Unix systems in general) every device is represented in the file system as a folder..
In my case i had an sd card i removed from my X10 with Sygic installed on it and all i had to do to get it running on my 9000 was to install the .apk using the samsung file explorer .
For now it seems to be running perfectly and gps signal reception is fine.
Yesterday I received my Galaxy, and have no problem with Sygic, my GPS works
Guys, can you tell me the file structure of the Sygic deployment on the Galaxy S... do you put the three folders and the .apk file on to the root of the SD card, and then run the .apk setup to install it?
I have a problem where I cannot run the app becuase I cannot activate my maps, I am looking for a Device ID but cannot find one. I can find a Device Code but not sure if this is the same as the Device ID, and in any case the Device Code is blank.
Can anyone tell me if I'm doing in the install wrong so not getting a Device ID, or, is the Device ID differnt from the Device Code and in which case where do I find it?
Thanks

I have the same issue.. it show device code as "-" or "_". I have no problem generating the device code from the SD card thr but not the internal memory
It wont work from the internal memory. You need to copy the files to an external sd card. Take the card out of your phone and use a card reader to access it on your pc. Now run the sygic utility and it will copy everything you need to the sd card. Stick the card back into the phone and run the apk.

Sry for posting to this old thread, but this is a big probleme for me.
I put the files on my sd card and the internal memory. Same Problem. Sygic won`t get a GPS Signal. But when I start a other GPS program (+ sygic in the background) I can see that there is a fine Signal.... hmpf...
My Maps are accepted and everything is great, just this annoying problem...
On my Galaxy S work fine. Try disabling the gps from system settings, then start sygic and follow on screen tips.

[Help] Apps on SD Card

I've read most of the guides down here and other forums and how to install apps on the sd card, but I'm confused with one thing, having the AP2SD on the ROM automatically does it? or having just the ext03 partition? I tried every method i read but there is something im doing wrong as apps are still installing on the phone (some apps on SD and some on phone), i even tried the modInstall app and chose the SD card but I still can't get it, I know im doing something wrong or missing some step please help me
you need both
you need o have a rooted rom with AP2SD included if not AP2SD installed a partion ext 3
Download gscript lite from the market place the attaced script in the in the gscript folder in the gscript menu add script and see what it says
sorry forgot to upload unzip and use the file inside
thanks ill try it now
btw im using LeeDroid latest ROM and latest radio version with bootloader 0.80
so you just need to set up the ext3
•Froyo A2SD mod install location is included in the rom doent that meet your requirements
havent used it myself didnt know it existed till i checked the LeeDroid rom

it is working, but is there a reason why some apps would not install on the SD card?
thanks for the help <3
it does seem to be working i dont get the stderr messages not sure what they mean
what apps arent installing to your sd remember your imternal phone storage will decrease slighty i have about 40 apps installed and mine is down to 88mb
only: Bluetooth File Transfer, Facebook, Papertoss
but no big deal thanks for the help with the script it's was excellent!
paper toss i actually went into the settings/ applications/ manage applications /downloaded and had the option on the phone to move it to sd which i did
Hi everybody, just thought id mention that if your using a rooted froyo 2.2 Rom, you not longer need to use apps2sd or make a partition on you memory card. Instead use setinstallloctaion.apk this then installs all your apps to card without the need to partition your sdcard. works great for me.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA app
well I am runnig froyo and i installed SDMove which has "Apparently" moved apps to the SD that had gone to the internal memory
But:
If you use the FroYo APP2SD method and moved your apps manually to the sdcard, will you be able to use them when you connected your phone to the PC in "Disk Drive" mode?

[Q] move app+data to external 64g card

Hello,
My device sm p605 rooted by de la vega root method.
I m looking for a method to move my app+data on my external sd card. I tried many methods but no one is working with my device.
I tried:
- link2sd partioning external sd card into 1st partition fat32 + 2nd in ext2: It generates a script with shortcut linking but after reboot when I launch linked app It collapses with message of incompatible device blablabla.
- mount folder: doesnt work and not free
- Directory bind doesn t work?
So if someone succeeded in moving app + data on external card, It would be very helpfull he explain the good method. Thank you.
FolderMount works for me.
Try settings -> General -> Application manager -> (swipe left) SD CARD -> Checkbox any app you with to move.
If it is check marked, it should now on the SD card instead. I know for fact this moves the app itself, but haven't tested to see if it moves the data too. This is the native App2SD introduced in 4.3, hope that helps.

That only moves the app & data to the /sdcard/ partition, which is on internal memory, not on the actual microSD card, which is mounted as /extSDcard/.
Folder Mount works great and is free. I haven't tried to move the APK's folder with it, as I'm pretty sure that would break stuff badly (boot-loops when apps try to launch during startup), but the APK's are usually not that big and you can have tons of apps installed on even the S4 16GB which only gives you 9GB to start with (I have something like 30GB of apps installed on mine). The majority of the data used by apps lives in /android/data/obb/ and /android/data/data/ which you can move. I have ran into boot-loops moving some folders because an app (especially GameLoft ones) try to launch on boot but they launch before FolderMount has a chance to mount folders, so they crash the OS and send you into a boot-loop until you remove the SD card. That's on my Note 10.1 (2014). On my Galaxy S4, I don't have any boot-loops and I'm redirecting more than I am on my Note. You can stop apps from starting on boot using Gemini App Manager or Autorun Manager (can only control up to 10 apps with free version), so that's a good solution for the boot-loop. Not sure why so many folders cause boot-loops on my Note when they don't on my S4, but whatever. Maybe the S4 mounts the SD card and the FolderMounts faster, or it has something to do with the JellyBean's ROM on the S4.
Anyway, use Folder Mount. I don't know of any other valid solutions.

If you have Xposed Framework installed, Boot Manager is the best autorun manager. Simple and to the point.

It shows up when connected via usb to compete but the phone folder is not selectable. my phone memry is filled just as it was before the patch all my apps on the phone are there, some are usable others such as google play wont open. please help
Can you reverse the patch? (Remove it). Flash a 4.3 TWz base ROM, native app2sd built in.

You are talking about the app FolderMount. I use it and I have no issues. Neither when i was on 4.2.2 nor 4.3. I would try again. Something else must be causing the issue.

They want game data and stuff stored on the external SD card. App2Sd only stores data. Not downloaded stuff. Like, for my maps app, all my maps are on the internal, no matter what i do, other than FolderMount, i cannot get them to the external SD and still work. Mainly because when an app looks for the sd card, it returns the internal directory.

Gotcha. I too use Foldermount with no problems. Stored my maps for GPS on ext sd card.
Would be helpful if OP post what app he/she is using.

you're correct I'm referring to folder Mount and it's the cause of my issue. I downloaded it then opened it once open a message came up claiming I needed to patch a system file then reboot. After reboot my internal Memory was not accessible only apps and games but pictures and google play type apps wont open when trying to open I get a message saying google play or pictures stops when connected to computer I can see phone folder but wont allow me to click on it. when I boot into recovery I cannot Mount the internal sd card only my external card.
