[FIX] Find 7 / 7a "INSUFFICIENT STORAGE SPACE"

Hey everyone,
I know that there are quite a few users like myself who are running into a very annoying issue, it's called the "INSUFFICIENT STORAGE SPACE" error on our OPPO devices. So I looked into a very easy fix.
This error happens when the original APP partition in our internal memory is filled (2.90 GB size on my phone, out of the 32 GB), thus it doesn't allow for any additional app downloads or installations.
This procedure doesn't require scripting or too much tampering with the internal system of the phone, instead, it just (1) requires root permission, a (2) SD card, $2.50 (I think) in your play store account, and (3) a computer.

Here are the instructions:
** As always, don't just be a leech, show some support by giving THANKS **
1) Make sure you have root access, and a software program called "Minitool" installed on your computer. I did this on Windows 7. (Download here)
2) your SD card should be in the format of "Fat32" or "Exfat" originally. If not, make sure that your PC (Windows) can detect the drive (SD card) on your computer.
3) On your phone, download an app called Link2SD and also get the paid version (this is required because it gives your phone the ability to insert a script onto your internal memory that allows it to "link" to the SD external memory.)
4) Plug in your external SD card into your computer, how I did this was through a adapter.
5) Now boot up Minitool on your PC, and you should see your external sd card drive and also your other hard drives are connected to your PC.
6) "Remove" or "Delete" the partition that is currently on your SD card. MAKE SURE TO BACKUP THE FILES ON YOUR SD CARD first before you remove the partition.
7) Now create a partition and set your desired size, followed by the format of Fat32 and make sure it is a "Primary" partition not "Logic/Logical".
(This partition will be your external memory)
8) Next, create another partition with the rest of the memory left over in the SD card, and have that format as Ext4. Make sure it is a "primary" as well.
(This partition will be your linked APP memory, aka your Second Partition)
9) Click on "apply" when everything looks right, the button is located on the top left of the program. Let it run its course.
10) There you go! Once you exit the program, eject the SD card and plug it back into your phone, you will have your phone detect a smaller sized Fat32 external SD card, because the other partition (possibly hidden) is the Ext4.
11) Go into the Link2SD app which should be running the paid "Plus" version now. And follow the instructions, it should do everything for you.
12) Once rebooted, you will be able to download more apps now! In the beginning it may be a tiny bit glitchy because the script might still not be picked up by Link2SD. May sure you have given root permission to the app.
13) CONGRATS! You are now done! If you ever find yourself downloading large apps that require storage space again, LINK that app'a information and data (through Link2SD) to the SD card by hitting "Create Link", then checkmark all the app files associated with the large app.
* * NOTES * *
- If your Link2SD doesn't pick up a difference in your SD card, click on the left menu and select "Recreate Mount Scripts". See what it says, and if there are any errors on your SD card.
- Your SD card should be of at least class 6 and above. I used a class 10 SD card and there were absolutely no speed issues (lag) with the apps.
- This method will work on MANY other Android phones, as long as it can read your SD card and as long as the script is properly installed.

I can vouch for the Link2SD solution, on phones with a removable sdcard.
My Find 5 only has the internal sdcard - so this is of no use.

hey guys that partition problem has been solved you can now unify your storage and remove the silly 3GB app partition you will need to use a unified capable custom rom in order to use it but they are so much better than colorOS anyway,also the developer @coldbird is working with oppo to get it implemented onto colorOS......please follow the link and have a good read of the first page,ignore the title it is for 7QHD also...ENJOI

I'd like to add, if you are using superSU I had to flash over superuser to make link2sd works correctly on a 1.2.7i stock rom.

With COS 2.1.5, you can use LVM to get around the 3GB partition issue.

Install Apps to SD Card

I recently filled up my internal storage and have put a new 64gb sd card in my TAB S. Now I have figured out how to move apps already installed on my device to the SD Card through the app manager. Is there a way to install apps right off the bat to the SD card or do I have to first install them to my device and then move them over?

I have the same question-
But i m not able to move app also, do we have a fix?
Few gb's game lead to no storage space available - how to fix this guys.

Root, install SDfix for R/W permission and FolderMount or Link2SD to transfer files, data etc to the SD card.

It's kind of convoluted. I read you could use adb to set default location to external sd. Sounds great except it doesn't work. I'm using folder mount right now. It's a bit tedious because you install your app on internal first, then move any large obb to external. I tried link2sd but had trouble with partitioning the card. I'll give it a shot some other time.
I don't know why you just can't like sym link /sdcard0 to /sdcard1 and be done with it.

I had the same issue before., Rooted the device and install custom ROM which did not solve the issue as I wanted. Installed the Kalikazoo above and another KitKat External app from the Play Store and then I was able to use the Apps2SD for most of my apps. After using these, I was able to use the External SD as I had planned. My big issue was Apps Backup & Restore which is my backup to Titanium Backup if any of the ones I want fail. Since all of these take a lot of space the external SD is a MUST. I have it am I am a happy camper because of it. Shame on Samsung for limiting our use of that external slot right out of the box.

[Q] Cannot move apps to SD card

I have the wifi only US version of the tab s 8.4 inch, and I cannot move apps to SD card for some reason. I'm not rooted anything, and running Android 4.4. I tried doing it through the built in application manager, but I just get a "unable to move app to SD card" message. I also tried using an app called app2sd, and it didn't work either. App2sd worked just fine on my note edge running lollipop though. Could it be that I need lollipop on my tablet for it to work? I just bought a 64 gb micro SD card for my tablet because I was running out of space, but as you can see I have be3n unable to use it. Any ideas?

I know third party apps cannot write to the external microsd in 4.4 , in 5.0 it is fixed, but you would think the built in system apps would let you do it.

Thing is, all app2sd card does is automate the process. It's like a batch file that automatically opens the information page on each app (using built in application manager) where you can click "move to SD card" . So it's really no different than doing it manually with no third party app, so I don't think what you mentioned is the problem

I downloaded app2sd and i moved a few apps from my internal flash memory to microsd without any problems, I have an non-rooted v4.4.2 10.5" T800 , below is the app i used.

This does not even let me try to use it . It just says "no need to move, SD card shares the same disk with OS". I also reformatted the SD card, still no luck. I can't be the only one with this issue. Anyone ?

Remove you microsd and do a factory data reset, make sure you backup the data you need to keep first, very strange that your tab thinks your ,microsd is just a directory on your system flash memory, might be worth formatting your microsd in your notebook if you have an adaptor, just in case you tab is putting system files on you microsd, then put it back in your reset tab and do a format on it, if the tab does not do it for you.
It would be nice if some other forum members could help you, maybe you need to get a mod to change your thread title, to something like "help: my android tablet thinks my microsd is system memory and will not let me move my apps to it"
Or something like that might get your thread more attention.
Or try posting on more than one android forum, I use the one below, but there are lots more.

Turned out to be defective micro SD card. Lesson learned : stick with San disk, death to Sony

It also very highly depends on your defin4of moving an app to your SDcard. Most apps of various sizes only move a very very very small portion of their data to the sdcard. Like a 1GB app moving 56MB or a 24MB app moving 16KB. Some apps are smart and can move their obb files but there are quite a lot of apps that are not programed well and move only a little bit of data or none at all.
But as for this specific tablet samsung was kind enough to include app2sd as part of its system files (along with all the bloatware), so you do not need on a stock rom (kitkat or lollipop) to install any other app moving program.

Best approach for SD card on M9 Marshmallow

Most of us probably know that Android 6 Marshmallow comes with a new feature regarding the SD cards which can be formatted and configured as something very similar to internal memory.
If you haven't read about it, best first to Google the topic.
(I will add a few links later)
From reading about it, it seems to have its own disadvantages (e.g. that sdcard is slower than built-in storage; and some people claim it's not flexible, even claiming that built-in memory becomes not used almost), so this thread is to discuss this feature for use on the M9
I don't have 6.0 yet on my M9, but have been thinking about this (a lot). Coming from the One X+ with 64GB internal, the storage is the only area in which the M9 is a step back for me...
SD card formatted as Internal memory
Known:
- it's encrypted, strictly linked to 1 device. Card not readable on any other device or computer.
Questions
- what does it look like in a file system explorer?
- what is the built-in memory (32GB) mounted as?
- what is the sdcard memory mounted as?
- can the sdcard be written to *without* any restrictions by all 3rd party apps (the kind of restrictions introduced by KitKat, where apps need special permissions and programming to use external storage). (For me this is THE most important benefit)
- after formatting as internal, there is a choice to "move data from built-in memory to sdcard". What does it move? It's been suggested that if this is done, then the default location for new downloaded apps will be the sdcard - is it
I would think it's best to keep all apps & their data on the built-in memory - and use sdcard for (large collections of) pictures, music, movies, documents, e-books, ... all the stuff you don't need to read or write at super high speed, but take tons of space. Basically the way it worked before Google messed up the sdcard in KitKat.

I also found out something interesting to let the rom see sd by titanium backup or solid explorer (I use these two mainly)
if you tap on sdcard in solid it lets you search the sd path which you can reach and set to use, works fine
also in titanium backup (I use sd backups) if you go to menu>preferences>backup folder path and tap on archiviation provider you can use different "methods" to reach your sd, if you use documentProvider it works just as solid explorer, you have the stock file manager and go to sd folder

I find it useful, I have the best card to get, for its storage to performance ratio (SanDisk Extreme PRO 64 GB).
Before formatting as an internal storage source, apps that could store cache and data externally (Spotify, camera)
But with android M, they where not storing externally anymore.
Now I have a device that has 100 Gb of storage internally.
The only minor downfall is that TWRP can not see this storage, it kind of sees its own partition I think, which is only around 25 GB in size. So to transfer ROMs or ZIPs, you have to plug in via usb

Anyone have experience to share with SD card on marshmallow stock ROM. Still haven't made the time to pop mine in and experiment. :-/
Personally I would want to keep the apps + main app data on built-in storage (32GB) (making the best use of that super fast storage) but give apps full access to the SD card.

I tried to move the heavy apps to the SD card. But I don't think see any major changes in the main built storage

Apologies.
Talking about backup and restore HTC backup and restore doesn't work for Marshmallow 6.0

So being its encrypted for one phone,there is no way to reverse this and put in another phone. Example...if phone breaks or you upgrade.

Just received a notification for 6.0 update, can't wait to experiment on this new feature... If I understand it correctly, it would be beneficial for me since i've been using extsd to store large application data without moving the app itself...

I just wanted to know if it allows you to move apps to external storage, because right now; they install whereever they want, and it seems like most prefer internal storage. I have obviously got an microSD card (a sandisk extreme pro 128GB with 90MB/s write in crystal disk mark). The small internal storage for me is the only issue I have which would be fixed with a way to choose default storage location (there is another issue of it not being clear if the place you want to save a file in on internal or external storage). Also I do have the SD card configured as internal storage.
I just installed an app to record voice calls (automatic call recorder), which has installed on the internal storage. I recorded a message from my three mobile top up but the recording was very difficult to understand even when played back at 70% volume on my PC headphones. I need it because I'm dealing with a company called repairtech.co.uk who told me that the reason they returned my monitor with a cracked screen was because I packed it incorrectly in the provided box (instead of packing material there are some hooks which suspend the monitor in the box with minimal aircushions). Since it was an out of warranty repair, I paid £80 for the evaluation that I needed to fork out for a completely new screen. I only found out about the crack when I overheard a conversation being made on my behalf and checked the box.
I can't do this upgrade right now because I need to have access to my bank account while I try to buy a new GPU which is available from tomorrow.

Advantages - more internal storage
Disadvantages - will only work on the device that formatted it as internal. You can't remove it & put it in another device without formatting it. Same for for if you want to change roms potentially.
A fast sd card is also required
Apps can't be "moved" to external storage (from android 5) in the way you are suggesting. Some apps like widgets will even break if you tried
Call recording works - you shouldn't need a 3rd party app on some roms as you can just hit record from the dialer but this is rom dependant.
Try using another dialer that can record or try on lineage mint in the Dev section - you may be using a very old rom if you are following some random guide you found on the net

Is this showing the correct screen for a internally formatted SD card? It does have some apps on it including kindle, but as I said it seems to decide for itself wether it will install on the sd card or not. There is no raid like pool of storage as you can see from the 2nd screenshot.
Will the moto g5 recieve a 3rd party upgrade to Android 11?

You can't "move" apps natively to sd card - it will break many apps
Can't see screenshots as you haven't linked correctly - post full link (put spaces in address if you can't post links)
It is also up to the app where it installs in the Manifest of the app - you may find the apk is installed on internal and the data is on the sdcard
Data will be in the android/data and android/obb folder
When sdcard is formatted as internal you will see the total size of internal storage has increased
If you remove the sdcard you may find some apps will no longer function correctly so you will know its on sdcard
Also you should have selected to transfer data to sdcard when you first format it as internal

Nothing wrong with those screenshots
Unfortunately this is just how android works and your device looks to be functioning correctly
If you are rooted you can use other methods to move apps to sdcard eg link2sd (requires sdcard with a second ext4 partition) but the more apps you symlink to sdcard the slower your phone may become. Make sure you link & not forcefully move as some apps like widgets will not function if forcefully moved and not symlinked to sdcard
Also note I haven't used this app in about 10years so no idea if it still functions on latest versions of android as it hasn't been updated in a few years
You will have to Google other root methods
